    Got to go lads.

    Bonne soirée messieurs.

Im going to put this out there. Maybe Pardew isnt stubborn enough. We all think we have the answers, that the grass is greener, that the youngsters should play, we should play 4 33 etc, and it seems that however it maybe, this feeds back to pardew and he listens. make no mistake he may put on a shiny arrogant front but he will be tearing into the players behind the scenes. maybe we should just leave him to what hes paid to do?

    i said that before

thinking defensive before offensive marv came on last, he should have been first

  • 7 Ketsbaia9 // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:50 PM

Marveaux looked very good when he came on and didn’t misplace one pass. Him and Ben Arfa combined very well.

  • 8 toonarmydownsouth // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:51 PM

    Alan Pas-De-Clue
Well he gave us we wanted today sammy n fergie, 433 and we got beat at home to many players not turning up and i hope he has no bones about telling them that

  • 9 Toon1978 // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:51 PM

Here you go Pardew. Go and get us into Europe, ohh and by the way, you have very little to spend but you MUST make us successful. Thats how it seems to me and the madness of some people talking about sacking him. He should walk ffs nevermind the board sacking him. If there is anyone to blame its the greed from the top that expect miracles. Pards shoud ask for more backing or walk.

  • 10 Alan_Pard_Who // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:53 PM

I don’t understand how some can have such a warped view.

Last season we played awful mostly and finished 5th. Very few said they were unhappy and most were caught up in pro Pardew mindset that saw him credited with the position, results and individual brilliance losing sight of how terrible we were as a football team.

Now we are showing the true nature of the tactics deployed by Pardew and some are saying it’s an overreaction to call for Pardews head after a 2 game blip.

A 2 year blip more like.

Tell me a technically better nufc team and I’ll call you a liar!

We have a continental squad that could easily challenge top 4 through skill, ability and quality alone yet here we sit talking aboutsoloute balls trying to stoutly defend our very poor manager.

  • 11 catchy in norway // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:53 PM

second goal has to be pardews fault,,

he switched a natural left back to right back and put a DMC at left back who watched him and done nothing

    way to go pards

  • 12 toonking // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:53 PM

here is IMO the places that we need changes next season
bench elliot raylor CD bigi sammy cisse

  • 13 toonarmydownsouth // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:54 PM

He had 3 dinked crosses that went to no one and some how hit the cross bar from about 8 yards was hoping for more of an impact but he looked as paniced as the other lads

  • 14 Indian Magpie // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:54 PM

Bring some other poor soul in who will get very little backing.

  • 20 Mister Tuff // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:56 PM

Well that was a load of rubbish. I was quite excited initially -seemed to be a bit of freshness/effort at first but with a degree of lack of organisation but then -it all fell away to what I suspect a lot of fans including myself had fears of what the result would be. Only players who I think were up to the mark were Benny and Santon. Is it time for the mob and the pitchfork -well probably not yet.
The November results -then leading up to the January window and what we do in the January window will define our season and partially answer some questions such as:-
    1. Is Pardew the man to turn this around/improve the team.
    2. Did Pardew really have any impact/influence on last seasons performance.
    3. What will be the quality of the signings in January – will they be good enough (I’ve always thought we will be getting at least three players in -Debuchy, big/fast CB and an attacking midfielder).
    4. What are the true ambitions of the club within the five year plan.
Whist I have reservations about Pardew, reluctantly, I have to say that he has to be afforded the opportunity to get things sorted out – we do not want to return to being the laughing stock of the PL -by sacking managers at a whim -the days of other managers saying that the managers job at Newcastle is a “poisoned chalice”etc etc.
I personally do not think that Pardew had the background/pedigree to get the managers job in the first place. What were his credentials. Whether you believe them or not some of the stories about his (alledged) previous exploits/shenanigans are not good. However, only time will be the judge – I hope he can wave the magic wand to get things back on track, but as I say I have reservations.

  • 21 Alan_Pard_Who // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:57 PM

It’s a combination of lack of investment and poor management.

It’s terrible that Pards wasnt backed but ultimately it’s not like he has financial backing like Portsmouth or a squad lacking in talent.

Even without investment we should be pushing top 6.

that’s the eally sick dilemma we’re stuck with a sh-te manager because no one else would work for ashley.
50000 fans will our day ever come?

it was 442 because a tone poin Demba nd sammi nearly knocked each other out going for the same cross.

  • 26 Rotonda heights // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:59 PM

brian clough never had much backing he just got the sum of the parts working for each other in a passing system.

  • 27 Quasi.modo // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:59 PM

You’re pissing against the wind. The man has an 8 year contract and is going nowhere. So you and your “dark side” can have your little meetings but they aren’t going to come to anything 😀

  • 28 Ketsbaia9 // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:00 PM

Marveaux and Ben Arfa were the stand out players. Abeid should have came on instead of Bigirimana who was very poor. No wonder Abeid is frustrated.

  • 29 Indian Magpie // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:01 PM

on the +ve side we are now a TOP 14 side

  • 30 Conaldo (The Wizard) // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:01 PM

Catchy – you really are a miserable person aren’t you.

Now isn’t the time to sack managers, point fingers etc. now is time to SUPPORT your team. I know this word might seem strange to a lot of you, and I’ve certainly never heard anything from the likes of catchy etc to suggest that they actually support Newcastle.

Seriously. Get behind your team. Bare with the poor peformances and this will turn round

How is it Pardews fault? As many people have mentioned, you can only play the hand your dealt. If anyone, blame Ashley, blame lambias.
    But support the team.

Ill be back on later to discuss the ongoing chronicles of the annoying man behind me. He’s outdone himself today. Ill tell you all Later.

  • 31 JDdubai // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:02 PM

    1. doesnt seem to. matter which players are on the field, performances still poor. still STILL not enough plYers in the box, when fergie was crossing in the first half HBA was stood on the far touchline, no interest in getting in to help Ba, neither CM was in there either so again too few players wanting to score, hence why we have a pisspoor goals for column.

    2. dont think fergie will be a PL winger, needs to be trained up as an attacking LB imo, bulk up and learn the position, doesnt offer a goal threat so would be just as dangerous attacking from deep and letting someone who can score play ahead of him.

    3. sadly we look more of a threat with Shola in there at the mo and playing direct, if thats the case shudve got AC back and gone for it 100%.

    4. think santon plays better on the left cutting in, havent seen him beat his man when playing RB but always looks a threat when cutting in from LB.

    5. need some kind of box to box CM desperately, tiote, anita, bigi etc offer no threat whatsoever, none will get into the box, none have any end product sadly.

am not calling for pardew out or anything crap like that, just think even on paper now i can only see goals coming from 2 of our lineup, Ba and HBA and if ur going into a PL match like that then you wont win many matches sadly.

havent a clue what to do about another first half when we didnt turn up, getting used to it now. lots of things need improving but getting bored of it all now tbh……

We never actualy had a 4-3-3 on with ben arfa+sammy+ fergie being wingers. We only had 2 cms on so a 4-3-3 wud be very hard to accomplish…

SAF join in 86 won first title in 91 but was almost sacked
capello won lots of title with his clubs but like newcastle ATM, england did not have enough quality and no cover at all.
last season after that chelsea H fixture along came a terrible run of results due to squad depth
arsenal have the same manager now as they had when they went on that unbeaten run of 56 game the differance poor squad now.
chelsea had very poor league performance last year and were look worst due to chopping and changing and were lucky to win the CL
everton had had such bad starts but recovered late in the season
fulham stoke during europa league suffered poor in premier league.

  • 44 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:07 PM

Rotonda…Well, I am sorry that you feel I am difficult to debate with due to my excessive sarcasm and ironic comments.

At the end of the day, personality matters very little. I don’t like Ferguson, but he’s a bloody good manager. So any personal feeling about Pardew or how he comes across matters little to me.

Personally, I think his man management of HBA last season was spot on. He worked him up and got a better all round play from him. Some don’t agree, that is fine, difference of opinion.

Pardew is English, so I’m sure there is good argument that he is an archetypal English manager. From what I’ve heard he has said that he wants to move away from 4-4-2 and that is what he, his fellow coaches and players are working towards. Can we see it yet? Not really, no. Do I think he’s just making it up? Not really, no. Do I think he needs time before we judge him on this? Absolutely.

We do have some very talented players and some not so. These players currently have to play together, so there wont be one perfect system for them all. We are in a time of adjustment imo and at times it will be messy and painful. Someone said earlier that sometimes you have to take steps backwards to move forward. I’d go along with that.

We’re not in a low league position, we are mid-table. 2 or 3 wins and we’re back where we want to be, however, a few losses and we could find ourselves in an uncomfortable place. Do I think that now is the time to panic? No. Time to evaluate and get to work? Yep.

Next weeks excuse? I think you feel we’re excusing each game individually, which isn’t entirely correct. As I said earlier, we feel we’re taking a broader view of the situation. I don’t honestly expect much this season. We all knew what the problems could or would be, so why is it such a surprise?

We’ve had no form all season. Should we expect better results?

I get everyone is frustrated, I really do, but we have what we have and going back to the old days of “so and so out” isn’t going to move us forward at all imo.

  • 45 Alan Pas-de-clue // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:08 PM

Pardew is playing with a pair of aces, paying the big blind, and folding pre flop,
if anyone catches my drift 😉

  • 46 sirtoongospel // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:10 PM

Getting shot of the manager will get us nowhere. I am as frustrated as anyone but that isn’t the answer. He just has to have the balls to make tough decisions.

HBA could try passing once in a while. With others it’s best they don’t try to pass lol! I still think BA is the problem. Everything is set up for him at the minute but it makes the team look awful. Last season we put Cisse through time after time. When this season have we got in behind other teams?
Quite simply, if HBA doesn’t pull a rabbit out the hat, we are shit. Plain and simple. Go back to 4-3-3 and if BA doesn’t like it then tough. Right now we look like the Stoke B team. Last season we were brilliant at times.

  • 47 t00ntime // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:10 PM

Also i wud like to point out we cant blame krul or williamson for the long balls, if they werent supposed to do it ap wud tell them off. I have never seen him tell them to stop or shout at them or anything so i think ap tells them to do it. If thats true thats the first thing to fix. Dont kick the ball over cabaye. He is one of the best passers in france atm and yet we dont give him the ball in space we just launch it to ba /cisse/shola

Alot needs fixing its not as simple as just changing the formation. But so far this season it doesnt seem like he has changed anything from game 1

  • 48 yorkymag // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:10 PM

    Transfer Sage

You made a very important post on an earlier thread.

The main gripe is seeing other teams playing much better football with lesser players.

Simpson as we know has little or no quality in the final third. He had two great chanches from good positions and under no pressure yo make a good cross and wasted both.

Williamson is so uncomfortable with the ball at his feet its embarassing.

Ben Arfa is class but nobody ever links with hi m to interchange passes. Hence he never has an outlet. Marveaux could maybe do it.

For the rest sammy bigi and fergy dont look ready.

Also what does pards dress sense have to do with his managerial skills?

  • 60 Ketsbaia9 // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:20 PM

Anita’s a good player and had a steady game today. He was better as a defensive midfielder than a left back. We needed to sign Anita, but we made a mistake not signing another 2 strikers. Konate and Remy should have been signed in addition to Debuchy, Vertonghen, Mbiwa, Boudebouz and Marvin Martin.

  • 61 WWYCD // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:21 PM

Well another deflating game though I think we deserved more than we got today but thats life, onwards and probably round about the same level for a while then some upwards movement 😉

  • 62 Alan_Pard_Who // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:22 PM

Some of you are so quick to defend everything that it clouds your judgement.

If there wasn’t murmurs of discontent in general life then we wouldn’t have the democracy we are proud of and the Tories would be getting away with a lot more.

Look at Europe, uniting to stop the poor management of the financial system and trying to do something about it.

If we are looking to be united it has to be in the interest of the club we all love so dearly.

We must unite to rid ourselves of the board for failing to deliver continued investment and Pardew for failing to provide suitable footballing quality despite having incredible players at his disposal.

    We need the following:

    1) A new owner.
    2) A new manager.
    3) New coaches.
    4) A new 25 man squad. Abeid and Xisco can stay.

Right then, lets get to work.

  • 72 Alan Pas-de-clue // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:26 PM

Ibiza, with that logic we cannot fail but finish top 4 😀

  • 73 Ketsbaia9 // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:26 PM

Yeah, someone like Marvin Martin or we could sign Boudebouz and put Ben Arfa in the attacking midfield position. Don’t forget, Marveaux also plays just behind the striker, so he should be utilised more often there. He keeps playing Bigirimana but too be honest, I don’t rate him at all.

i know,, but il get more recruits , hopefully mashly will be one of them:))

she has had a great day thanks,, and im getting wrong for drifting of to here 🙁

    Conaldo (The Wizard)

i only wish pardew supported the team half as much as me, show some faith in them instead of putting chains on them

i support the team, love nearly all the players, 1 or 2 i thinkare not good enough for this league,, and with those one i would rather play kids,, at least they would have an excuse for being poor at times

right now is the time to get rid, in 2 years, we have seen nothing to suggest he is a good manager building a team, playing to a system or a style,

so for me with every match that goes by, its wasted time that a new guy could get us playing football,,

Conaldo tell me 5 games in the EPL in 2 years that we have bossed and won easely,, i dont think you can

  • 78 Ketsbaia9 // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:29 PM

We should snap up Sissokho because he’s free and we should also sign Boudebouz for £5m. That will complete our midfield. We then need a wingback, 2 centre backs and 2 strikers.

Shake it all up. If it’s no good, shake it up again. Who knows, in the next 100 years we may luck out, until then, if we hit problems, just change everything!!!

They won’t have a reasoned debate, they are massively hypocritical, they must have three brain cells between them and all they do is call you an idiot for not seeing how inept Pardew is. As far as I am concerned these people are not fans and I for one will not be posting anywhere near as frequently when I see that these people are on. I can’t be bothered to even read there infantile Pardew out bollocks. Sometimes I think we may have some of the worst fans in the league.

for those without patience i have a good idea
set up a banner and protest ashley out
then you can get what you want as teams who can become outstanding in seconds and finish in top 4 have
    1. sugar daddy owner to buy mega players and high wages for them
2.managers will come in knowing they can get any player and have final say.
3 finally the team can do what chelsea blackburn and city all did, that is buy the league

Otherwise you need to be like me patient.
rome was not built in seconds
SAF took 5 years b4 he won a title
teams like stoke and fulham who have simular squad sizes to us suffered while in the europa league
no decent manager likes being told what he can and can’t bring in KK walked out shearer refused to take the job, hughton probably was unhappy and demanding more players during his time.

  • 88 Newcastle for alltid // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:33 PM

I really don’t have an idea where to start. This is probably the worst performance I’ve seen for years, and it sums up all the negatives in our season so far.

Let’s be honest, Swansea could have beaten us 4-0 today. Defensively we have NO clue how to stop players and stop passes. Simpson and Santon are far to weak defensively. They both try to make contributions offensively, but their crosses are just ridiculous. Santon makes and effort and runs alot, but he seems to always waste the ball in the end. Williamson is poor, everyone knows that. Slow, doesn’t read the oppositions play, and when he’s got the ball he always try the long pass – with no accuracy at all. Steven Taylor was also not himself today, I know his potential.
Tiote and Anita were just run over today, especially second half. They seem to run alot, but that’s not necessarily bravery, rather having to make up lost ground because of poor positioning. I wish we would use one of them as an anchor and the other as a more forward-oriented, and a third midfielder occupying the space behind the striker. I think Sammyobi might have had that role today first half. But he had no clue how to do it. And as for him, I can’t believe people see him as a talent. Holds the Europa League level, but of no use in the premiership. He tries to take players on, but poor passing and tactical awareness drags him down. IMO Ferguson is also overrated. All he does is to try to cross the ball. Otherwise he has no clue what to do. Why we’re using these two “talents” instead of Obertan and Marveaux is beyond me.

Overall nothing works. Everything is a ridiculous mix of wasted passes, crosses with no height, shots far over the bar. What do they really do on the training ground?

  • 89 bettyswallocks // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:34 PM

We need to have options for the players to pass and move quickly.

Look at Swansea today with their little triangles.
Always an option for a pass then look how many times Michu carried on his run into the box.

Why cant we play like that we have the players.

This must come from the coaches!!!!!!!!

    Get real lads,
No ne is gonna sack AP.
He’s an ok manager, tactics haven’t been great but the way our teams playing is absolutely dire
I’m so glad I didn’t see the game today,I said beforehand that we’d lose and we did.
We look like a losing team,we are so easy to read.
The only one trying to do something imaginative is Ben Arfa and if this rubbish keeps up a few of our boys will be off.
Don’t wanna hang any one player out to dry but Kruls kick out was terrible for the first but where was our full back?
Willo was the closest as the ball went free yet he let Tiote cover it and himself then was left in no mans land for the goal.
The second goal again Willo was the nearest man to the loose ball and again didn’t get quick enough to it.
The guy is championship material and that’s it.
It’s not his fault he’s being picked for the team as we’ve no one else so he tries his best but every game he has one or two glitches that just give me the shivers when he’s near the ball.
Get in a couple of replacements and sell Willo off.

  • 95 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:38 PM

Indian….Hmmm….I think, but I may be wrong, that you’re confusing better squad with better form.

Who did we lose from last years squad that we haven’t replaced that would deem us weaker?

    Guthrie – Anita.
    Lovenkrands? Oh noooooooo.
Best – Good when fit, but see Lovenkrands above.
Forster – Could have played in some EL games, but wouldn’t be featuring above Krul.
Alan Smith – Oh wait, you’re right. I take it all back, we’re much much weaker this season.

So, you’ve singled me out for a view shared by many in the summer, what next?

  • 96 Conaldo (The Wizard) // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:38 PM

Ibiza – I’m not upset (*dont cry… You promised yourself you wouldn’t cry 🙂 )

I just spent about 15 minutes typing on my phone a lengthy argument about today’s game and this seasons form in general, and then I realised that what’s the point. “Catchy’s gang” would jump straight on it and then I would end up defending Pardew and stating how we need stability and time. So my original point would go largely unnoticed.

I’m not going as far as saying I won’t post on the blog, I’m far too addicted for that 🙂
But I don’t have the time or the energy to attempt to engage in discussion with “catchy’s gang” so I will either just completely ignore them or I won’t post when they are all on.

  • 97 Quasi.modo // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:39 PM

I suppose it just all depends on your particular perspective. The people who are angry now are more likely to expect immediate results and immediate cohesion and are frustrated that we seem to be getting neither.

Others who try to see a bigger picture are willing to give the current structures more time to get it right. I am not saying either perspective is right or wrong, in fact the most ideal point of view would probably be somewhere in the middle.

  • 98 jimiley // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:39 PM

We just need to be patient. When all our players are fit there is no reason why we cannot get 6th spot. A couple of bad results does not ruin a season. Keep the faith in Pardew and Ashley. They have an 8 year plan to bring us success. I am not expecting us to challenge for anything in the next 5 years but will be looking for progress and success after that. I have been supporting the Toon for 50 years, so another 5 years of nowt is easy to take on. keep the faith.

Are the squad playing to the ability we all know they posses? No theres a difference between the 2

  • 102 Conaldo (The Wizard) // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:44 PM

Stoke home stoke away west brom away Man U home
And for my 5th choice, I choose a rather strange one of Swansea away. Despite having barely any possession we let them have the ball and hit them hard on the occasions where we had the ball. A great tactical game where Pardew showed he knows what he’s doing.

And from this point onwards don’t expect a response when you ask a question. You may get an answer sometimes, but certainly not all the time. I CBA to argue with you, you have your opinions, I have mine, just leave it at that.

  • 104 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:47 PM

INDIAN….Once again, I feel you’re confusing two different issues, once again, I may be wrong.

Is our squad stronger or weaker? Probably on reflection, neither. It hasn’t greatly improved, nor has it been stripped.

I think your point is, is it strong enough for extra competition? No, it’s not. That was discussed in the summer.

    What exactly is your point?

Has this season gone as I’d like? No Indian, it hasn’t. Do I think as time passes on I will look back at this season with rage? No Indian, I don’t think I will.

I believe in the long term plan, but it is exactly that….long term. I don’t expect instant results, or even results within 2 years, but that’s me.

You guys crack on with your method of dealing with it, it certainly has done us well in the past. I mean, just look at our rich history of winning this and winning that and wiping teams off the floor without a seconds thought.

What is is that people reasonably expect?

A lot of negativity on the Newcastle phone in on bbc Newcastle.

A lot unsure of manager and players. Don’t recall anyone calling for Pardews head from the 20 mins I heard but a lot criticising our top players for lack of effort.

I agree on the effort. All of our players with the exception of 2 in defence are capable of passing and moving.

It seems to me most take the easy option and knock it long too often. It’s a cop out for the players, it means they don’t have to think and can just get rid.

  • 119 89Norcal // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:58 PM

Really poor display. Ben Arfa was the only one who showed up today, though Ba put in massive effort to even get a single goal. Can’t even blame pards for this one.

Sammy unfortunately caved a bit to the PL pressure and his crossing was awful.

  • 120 Small World // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:59 PM

Rotonda made the comment “brian clough never had much backing he just got the sum of the parts working for each other in a passing system.”

I don’t necessarily agree with some other comment he’s made – but this more than rings true.

I’ve been to every home match this season and scarily this was probably our best 1st half league performance. It’s a sad indictment of where we are at the moment. It easy to criticize tactics and formations – they may be problems, but not our greatest. The players simply don’t seem to have the confidence / ability to do simple things well. The last 2 weeks have seen West ham & Swansea do precisely that. They haven’t slaughtered us, nor have they grossly outplayed us. All they’ve had to do is do the simple things well.

Every time we lump the ball forward, I don’t think it is as a result of a pre-match instruction or predetermined tactic. The players we have just don’t seem able to make the runs, complete the pass, whatever. The coaching staff need to sort this out fast, and then the manager make sure the 11 picked are able to do the basics well. The argument about 442 / 433 will disappear.

Set your stall out, play your game and put the opposition the back foot, especially at home, is all we can ask. Swansea didn’t have the incredible amount of possession today, that they often manage. We actually did a good job on that front. However doing the simple things in our own game, we were way wide of the mark..

Mr Pardew – sort it out.

  • 121 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Nov 17, 2012 at 6:59 PM

Bionic…..I have been saying for a while that fans should be able to criticise, but there comes a point where it gets out of control. We’re now hearing the Pardew out comments and these things do snowball.

Pressure is good for manager and players alike, but mob mentality from the fans is not and that is where I think we’re heading having read a fair amount on here.

    Good evening lads!

Well what’s this about an OV revival? 😛

Must say that I agree with a lot of people’s frustrations as I myself am frustrated with the way the season has progressed thus far but that doesn’t mean we can’t pick it up go on a great run and find ourselves back where we want to be.

That doesn’t mean we won’t start playing better football (which we did at times today) and begin to see the best out of our bigger players.

Let’s keep waiting and see what happens, it’s a marathon not a sprint and there is a long way to go in this season. Let’s unite and get behind the lads, they need us now more than ever

    OH BOY!!

this blog is getting quite tasty again!!

fact is, we have a great team. full of internationals and our manager has done nothing with them

the pessimists are just more vocal now because we see what we’ve seen ALL along. it’s the same. we’re just not getting the luck with injuries or results. Would we really have won if we had jonas and cabaye back today? probably not. I can safely say they’ve been two of our worst performers this season, and, in my mind at least, that’s down to where they are playing on the field

all the optimists screaming for stability ok ok, we get it. but ffs we haven’t had stability in playing personnel for TWO YEARS, full squad or otherwise. how the hell are they players supposed to stumble upon a sense of togetherness or cohesion on the pitch when the line-up is NEVER the same and when it is the same, we hardly play to those players best attributes

support the team, yes, of course, but please cut the load about AP. he’s always been a second-rate manager. Nothing will change that, especially not time

I do not blame Pardew for the lack of finishing, we should have scored. I think its time the players stepped up to the plate and started to justify their wages with effort commitment and SKILL. Thats why they are paid stupid amounts of money.

The coaches have the team set up in a far too rigid
    stay in position formation.
Even Swansea managed to have the whole team interacting far better than us.

The top teams all defend and attack as a unit with plenty of movement and passing options.

Since Pardew took over we have never looked flexible.
He is very fixed in his thinking and we look so so predictable.

Everyone knows all of our defenders aren’t technical.

This is why in my opinion the midfield need to make even more effort to support them and offer them a simple pass.

Willo can’t thread a 20 yard pass through the midfield. I know, you know, the team know it. So why don’t they make it easy and give him a couple simple options.

Krul needs to work on his distribution. It’s the one element of his game holding him back. Always has been as well.

  • 141 Conaldo (The Wizard) // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:10 PM

We really came out the blocks second half, and then because we had so many men up the pitch, they caught us on the break and we were really slow getting back. They knocked the wind out of our sails.

  • 142 alex84 // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:11 PM

  • 148 nezzatoonmad // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:12 PM

what a pathetic piece of shit pardew says that we lost because of the fifa stopping cisse from playing, f–k off pardew its yours and the teams fault that we lost not 1 person, first of all he used a 4-4-2 again and the thick twat should kno that this tactic doesnt work anymore a 4-3-1-2 works better, second hes still playing direct play but its obvious its not working, third he still uses the wing to cross the ball and thats led to shit, if any1 notice that through the centre we were a major threat with king ben imagine a 4-3-1-2 ben would have ba and cisse to lay up though balls cmon pardew it doesnt take an expert to tell you what your doing wrong

  • 149 thebionicMAG // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:12 PM

One thing i have noticed is Benny trying to hard. I love the guy I really do but I think he’s trying too hard…I think this is because he has lost confidence in his team mates and thinks he needs to do it all himself. I could be wrong but thats what it looks like.

    Transfere Sage:

I really enjoy reading your posts, you speak a lot of sense. Were you/are you involved in football professionally?

  • 151 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:15 PM

Yes, spot on there fella. Our midfield is just not working hard enough, so the go to option is to lump it up the field.

This approach is just not going to work. Simple 5 yard passes going awry, players not tracking back with any sort of pace and no options in the final third is how I saw this game today but I blame the players for this. There seems to be no hunger, no fight, no passion and I don’t see where that can be attributed to the manager.

The players need to buck their ideas up and soon.

  • 152 Conaldo (The Wizard) // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:16 PM

Transfer – I know, and that points the blame at the players. Pardews tactics got them in position to take the shots, the players are the ones who at the end of the day didnt put the ball where it needed to go.

  • 153 catchy in norway // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:16 PM

Ibizatoon – Back by popular demand

how we play is all about how he coaches,

when you go and watch a movie, its the director who gets the actors to do as he wants, and he will do retakes for as long as it take until he gets what he wants,

what we are seeing is what he is working on during the week,, it has to be

or like i have said before,, the players are not playing for him, just like AVB last season at chelsea, shit with him, he goes they win the CL
we dont have bad players,, neither did JFK but look what he did,,

  • 154 The Reverend Coyote // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:18 PM

I don’t think the answer is sacking Pardew – last year was not a fluke.

The squad in my opinion should compete and get a result from Swansea and West Ham and it has been our lack of team work that has let us down and cost games – it almost seem like 11 players who have been brought together to play for the first time.

Pardew needs to get the team positively motivated and that needs to start with points then people. We need to get 7 points from our next 3 games (So’ton, Stoke and Wigan) and pull in 4 players in January (midfield and defense).

  • 155 yorkymag // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:18 PM

Just watching Chris Haughton and his team remember him !
    Outplay man utd

  • 156 Transfer Sage // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:21 PM

I blame the players today. Pardew changed it up and they were just sloppy. Swansea aren’t technically better than us in midfield but looked a class above. We have tiote, Anita (a Dutch international and key figure for Ajax last year), cabaye, Ben arfa, and they can’t play simple pass and move football.

The shots we had were never going to go in, I’d out money most were outside the box and a good few 25/30 yards away.

Not involved at all. Barely ever play as well, just the odd 5 a side. I can’t even win a cup with Newcastle on football manager but glad to hear you like my posts.

  • 157 Charlie in the Gallowgate // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:22 PM

    Small World
Can’t agree more. Just got in from the match. I does not matter which formation we play most teams this season that has come to St James’ has out passed out manoeuvred us. I does not matter which formation we play. Every team this season that has come to the Toon has been able to pass and move of the ball much better than us. We stand aroond like statues waiting for something to happen and that is usually a pass back to Williamson who hoofs it up field aimlessly or to Krul who’s distribution from foot is woeful. Is this down to our players or the management?
Is there OPTA stats for the team with most back passes. If so I know who will be top.

  • 158 The Reverend Coyote // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:24 PM

Yorkymag – Norwich are 2 points clear of the bottom 3 and below Newcastle on the table – whats your point?

  • 159 thebionicMAG // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:24 PM

Totally agree Transfer. Pardew can tactically put you in the scoring zone but if the players dont take their chances we’ll never score. The opposition took their chances. They won.

  • 160 catchy in norway // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:25 PM

    he contridicts himself

he said we had a young team out today as its an excuse, but then says we played better??
ALSO blaming papis not playing thta is just sad,, in recent weeks, he has been trying shola
take cisse out of the team like suarez,, hmmm take ba aout of the team is more like suarez

  • 161 nezzatoonmad // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:25 PM

spot on thebionicMAG king ben seemed to do things by himself and no1 will help i only fear for the worse whats in the mind of HBA and if the the team keeps on letting HBA do things on his own i can see him requesting a tranfer list in the next transfer market and teams like man u, man city and especially chelsea would love to grap him up

  • 162 The Reverend Coyote // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:28 PM

Did we have many “chances”? I am not sure. We had plenty of shots that were technically on target but there were none that I would consider chances that we should have taken. We are perpetually losing the battle in midfield with a lack of both quality and creativity so therefore our strike force is neutralised and not by the oppositions defense.

  • 163 thebionicMAG // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:29 PM

Thats exactly what I fear. Could you imagine Benny playing for Man City/United or god forbid Chelsea?????

  • 164 toonarmydownsouth // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:30 PM

Family are good mate thanks and me and wor catem have found middle ground!
The blogs hone a bit mental really kinda miss the good ol banter days!

  • 165 The Reverend Coyote // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:32 PM

Quality players walking in January is a real risk and I think HBA is worthy of a champion league winning side and so it is only a matter of time before I think we see the back of him. Pards needs to keep topping up the talent pool and create a squad with a little contingency for when we do loose our world class signings.

  • 166 nezzatoonmad // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:33 PM

ive just notice aswell i think the coaches need to be sacked except beardsley of course, they work behind the seen and it looks like they cant do there work either

  • 167 nezzatoonmad // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:37 PM

if we lose HBA it will be another andy cole disaster but the real problem is ashley and the cockney twats crew could never bring in another SHEARER

  • 168 The Reverend Coyote // Nov 17, 2012 at 7:45 PM

I am not sure the loss of HBA would be a disaster – that was the opinion when we lost Carrol but it actually worked out to be a positive for the club. January is crucial – we need to spend.

  • 169 89Norcal // Nov 17, 2012 at 8:16 PM

    @Reverend Coyote,

That’s been in the back of my mind for a few months now. Players like HBA, Tiote, and Ba might be more attracted to big clubs if we end up slipping more and more.

Every player wants to win, and we were never set up for much success with the lack of transfer activity this summer.

  • 170 DG MAGPIE // Nov 17, 2012 at 8:22 PM

Sat in a sunny bar in lanzarote to be depressed by a Newcastle side with poor penetration and final ball.
We are lost without colo. and the partnership of Cabaye and tiote as I believe they only truly perform (for us) when together.
    Williamson sickens me!
I’ve lost faith in a top 6 finish. The best we can now hope for is challenge west brom and Liverpool for 7th and hope to squeeze back in Europe… Which is sad!
Some key signing need to be made in jan. although I like sammy Fergie bigi an the likes it doesn’t fill me with confidence when they in the starting 11 we need more mature players bringing in!
WE MUST bet Southampton next week…which I do believe used to be a somewhat bogey team???
