If someone had told me last week that after west ham and swansea at home we would have got 0 points I would have laughed at them.

  • 6 Crawfordladd17 // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:07 PM

No one we were poor, Ben Arfa had spells and Marveaux looked ok but everyone ulse were sh*t

  • 7 Indian Magpie // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:08 PM

Sad part is SWANSEA were better and deserved to win the game

  • 8 Jonny // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:08 PM

Ben Arfa or Shola. Ferguson and Sammy arent good enough and marveaux should start with obertan.

  • 9 Toon1978 // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:09 PM

Why? We really are NOT that good. This is because our illustrious owner did not build on what we acheived last season by bring in more quality. Really….wake up. We are not very good, simple as that.

  • 10 lordjoesnow // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:09 PM

Krul made some good saves so I’ll let that one vote so far slide… one on one you just know he’ll save the ball. His distribution needs improving though. I remember someone laughed at that suggestion a few weeks back but its so clear that he has no accuracy with his long balls

Ed…How very dare you put this out! The fans asked you not to! Outrage! Panic! Lack of investment! Eggs! Milk! Butter…..whoops, trailed off on to a shopping list there…my bad.

  • 18 toonking // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:11 PM

well does that not prove we are not a top 6 side and it was luck that got us there last year?
team in the top 6 pass well, create chances everywhere, have midfielders who can score in a varity of ways, and don’t have to use wonder goals to win games.
newcastle on the other hand have non of these most of the goal we score are wonder goals HBA just doesn’t seem to create much for others he doesn’t pass much and not one midfielder can score goals in a mixture of ways.

one thing I don’t understand about pardew is why does he play long ball tactics with all the technical players in the squad we could have played the 4-3-3 formation today but still we didn’t played it like the way we played it last season is it only me or europa league is an unwanted distraction to our campaign with such a small squad

Every week we seem to be having the same conversation. Will it be the same excuses next week and the week after?

We had a good season, enjoyed a lot of good fortune and turned it on when we replaced raylor with benny and went 433.

Pardew is no better than roeder. They have almost identical records with us and west ham. Both English no mark managers who have never won anything in their whole managerial careers and at the age of 51
have only ever had one good season followed by an equally bad one.

Maybe some people just enjoy mediocrity.
2 recently promoted teams at home is horrendous.
Why can’t you just admit it?

  • 33 afikri6 // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:17 PM

because he is a total pleb!!

  • 38 niafron // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:18 PM

    So we need:

    – Beny behind a single striker.
    – A true LB.
    – MArv or Ferg on the left. Obi on the right.
    – Colo and Cabaye Back ( and Cab improving).
    – To stop shooting wild at 25 meters in a greedy fashion.
    – No more Hoofball.
    – No more crosses before we pass over the defensive line.
    – More quick pass ( and more sharp if possible).

To change our play in that way, we will need time. pard mistake last year was to think only about short term.

After Chelsea tear us apart 0-3 in St James, he clearly renounced to any kind of ambition concerning our play.

He choosed us to go the easy way. Hoofball. Less risky and less complicated.

Now, we see the limits of it.

No imagination, only air play or individuals actions. Our passing is worst and worst game after game.

So please Mister Pardew, time to work on that and to bring us a real play, even if it cost us a few games, could not be worst of what it is now.

If Pard can do that by himself, he could maybe bring an offensive advisor into the staff.

    Ferguson did that with Queiroz.

There’s still hope, but no time to waste.

  • 39 colwell // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:19 PM

We are deffo not a top 6 team, but HBA has the most assists for us this season so he does create for us

You are right on the fact take HBA out do we have a midfield player that could score 7-10 goals? Pards has built a hard working team and it shows, we keep buying the wrong type of midfield players.

  • 40 surrey_toon // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:19 PM

  • 42 catchy in norway // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:20 PM

never watched the first half, and only got in 35 mins of the 2nd

    here is my thoughts

    pardew out, ole solskjær in

had a good spell in the first 10 mins, but no better than swansea, just better for us

up to his old tricks again with the subs, shambi did nothing other than try and take Ba’s head off,
dont understand the thinking behind puting Anita at left back just so bigi could play DMC
dont understand why marv got 9 mins and was last sub, it was llike he was stuck in 2 minds, ahhh dont let any more in, go defensive bring bigi on, shit what will the fans think, better bring marv on to show im having ago,,

if im honest( my fave pardew quote) sugsests he lies alot lol,
but if im honest, he really isnt good enough, laudrup showed him how to set his team up , stick with a shape and pass the ball,, he has been with the team 5 mins

come on pardew lovers,, even a blind man can see he isnt working,,

  • 43 Ketsbaia9 // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:21 PM

Players that are not goo enough:

Simpson (him and Krul were at error for the first goal)
Williamson (he should’ve got across quicker to intercept De Guzman)
Bigirimana (kept giving the ball away. Abeid is miles better)
Sammi Ameobi (too similar to Obertan – No end product)
Ferguson (nowhere near as good as Marveaux who was a threat when he came on and linked up well with Ben Arfa)

Marveaux and Abeid deserve to start the next game.

  • 46 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:22 PM

Rotonda…Okay, we’ll obviously have to go back to my opening line.

“If you listened to what us “apologists” were actually saying, you may realise it’s an “excuse” that wont change each week.”

Yes, it will be the same “excuses” as that is what we believe is happening. You don’t, thats fine by me, but don’t be so rude to sit there and dismissing our opinion. We’re not in mass panic as we believe in the bigger picture. Are we definitely right? No, but that is what we think is going on and I wont apologise for that.

Am I or others happy with our current style or recent results? You best not believe we are, because we’re not, but once again, we don’t view the performance / result as the be all and end all at the minute.

  • 47 Crawfordladd17 // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:22 PM

Shut up about we aren’t top 6, we are 12th and we have been bloody dreadful if we actually played as well as we can we would be top 6, but that is half the result the way you play, also we are no worse than Everton, Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Ba, Coloccini, Krul and Santon would all get into there team, while Jageikla, Baines, Fellani and possibly Piennar would be the only players that would get into our team. But we need the play we could be the best team in the world and if we play like we have recently which is awful then we will be struggling.
I am positive that theses two defeats can help us to learn what happened, with Cisse(best still to come) and Coloccini to come back by the end of the month we can be were we should be.
Sometimes you need to take a step back to take two steps forward

  • 51 Seba29072 // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:22 PM

Tough to play against a well organised Swansea team like that. We had plenty of possession but the game looked like it was going to be a draw. Fustrating to watch us during this bad patch when the season feels like its running away from us. We have 0 momentum and few players low on confidence, had a great time last year but looks like its gunna be a big grind to try and make Europa spot.

  • 52 GeordieAnt // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:23 PM

    Repost from previous thread:

You know what…it’s not often I comment on here, but after reading some of the drivel I just did, I couldn’t stop myself. It just goes to show just how fickle some of our fans are…the same people who had Pardew on a pedestal last season are now calling for his head. Yes…there isn’t any excuse for the way we’re playing, to be honest, I think we’re playing terribly..have all season, however…the fact is Pardew himself said we ended up where we were last season 3 years ahead of schedule…we aren’t going to be a consistant top 5 team…quite simply…there’s too much money being spent by the “big teams” for us to compete without major investment. Pardew isn’t a fantastic manager, and he isn’t a terrible manager…he gets things wrong…yes, but even Fergie gets it wrong sometimes. Why don’t you fickle f**kers call for Pardews head at the end of the season if we get relegated…because I can guarantee if we start playing well again, and winning games…the people on this blog who are currently wanting him sacked and moaning about him will act like they never said anything and will start claiming he’s the best manager since Sir Bobby all over again. You know what…we get called the greatest fans in the world sometimes…if only people could see just how fickle some of our fans are we’d lose that title. Win or lose…we’re Geordies…we supported OUR team when we were relegated…but now we’ve had a little taste of glory, some people expect that we should be doing it season in/season out. It’s not going to happen…quite simply if you want to be a fickle NUFC fan, and complain about EVERYTHING…then do us all a favour, and start supporting Sunderland…because quite honestly…I think I speak for a lot of people when I say…you don’t deserve to be known as a supporter of Newcastle United. Rant over

a good enough team to finsh 5th lost to 2 recently promoted teams at home who’ve hardly had more investment than us.

We have some great players that other teams would kill for playing in a sh–te formation

  • 54 toonarmydownsouth // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:24 PM

Fair enough mate soz for the retaliation
Dont get me wrong by no means am i saying were playing great football and we should be skipping round holding hands with flowers in our hair singing pardew is the lord, theres clearly something wrong with the team this season we seem devoid of any passion or fight but i just dont see how sacking the manager would be beneficial to us atm but also understand that no manager is untouchable regardless of contract length!

  • 55 nufc90 // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:25 PM

thing with pardew he always picks and subs in favourites. so frustrating. everyone can see what needs to be done and its always the same excuses

  • 56 blew // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:25 PM

Ben Arfa by far, he had nobody on his wave length.
Defence were vulnerable and the coaching staff worse.
Sadly, I hate to repeat it but the lack of Summer activity is at fault.
Established players at RB, CB and midfield are a must in January. Get Simmo, Willo, Gosling, Oberton, Marveaux off the books, and bring some class in.

  • 60 Alan_Pard_Who // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:26 PM

We have learnt from history that we take too long to sack the managers. All the poor ones had far too long before being fired and whilst I hate the manager merry go round it is very clear to see from a footballing point of view that Pardew isnt a good manager.

I said it when he was at West Ham, Southampton and now with us.

Sone people offer snap judgments or over glowing appraisals but my opinion is based over 10 years of watching Pardew teams.

I’m telling you we are heading in one direction.

  • 61 L.ARAVIND // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:26 PM

    geordie ant,

I didn’t see anyone calling for pardew’s head, just that we are really p….ed off at the way he’s managing at the moment. And we’ve got every right to. Don’t get all pompous and lecturing us, we know sh-te when we see it and we’re seeing it on a weekly basis. Should we just applaud and say ” hard cheese old boy, better luck next time”!!

Grow up,it’s an emotional game. I want to see good football and we’ve gone nearly 20 games and every week it’s same old, same old rubbush. Good players in an awful formation.

If you’re happy then I think your entertainment level must be non – existant

  • 70 boater // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:30 PM

I’d have Ole in too. If he was winning us games every week I would come on here and say Woohoo we are the bestest team in the whole world. But if he dropped my favourite player, or we start losing I would come on here and mouth off about how he’s clueless and needs to play the kids…. maybe start a petition or a protest. Then I’d ask for another manager and keep going around in circles like that until we got relegated – then blame that on someone else.

  • 71 t00ntime // Nov 17, 2012 at 5:30 PM

One (obvious comment) about fring Pardew:

Wether it is a good idea or not (everybody is free to believe what he want and to say it), it will not happen.

He just signed an 8 year deal, he’s intouchable.

If he leave, it would be at the end of the season (maybe), and only in case of a total disaster.

There is a problem in the state of Holland
We have a s..t manager and an average team

I have never been a pardew fan. I think he is a smarmy spiv type, but that apart, I think last season we did well in spite of him, not because of him. Raylor getting injured when he did was a blessing in disguise for pardew as he was then forced in to playing Benny and a 433 system.

But pardew is an archtypal english 442 long ball manager and even though 433 worked for him i guess he never felt really comfortble with it.

So now we have a very talented squad (simmo and Willo apart) being managed by someone who is not at ease with a continental system which would suit most of our players.

I would loved to have a laudrup, Rodgers, martinez type footballing manger. having a low league position when playing good football you can stomach. Having one when we are playing as badly as we are now is a different thing. Last week no Tiote was the excuse, what will next week’s be?

its all boils down too lack of ambition from big mike i dont blame pardew hes just a puppet no other manager would put up with the things pardew does, we finished 5th last season amazing achievment but to keep the club moving forward you cant stand still all it would of taken was say 20million investment debuchy 7mil mirallas 6mil berbatov 5mil we would of been set really think we could of got all 3 of these players aswell
big mikes had our pants down again worst billionaire ever !!

Rotonda…Well, I am sorry that you feel I am difficult to debate with due to my excessive sarcasm and ironic comments.

At the end of the day, personality matters very little. I don’t like Ferguson, but he’s a bloody good manager. So any personal feeling about Pardew or how he comes across matters little to me.

Personally, I think his man management of HBA last season was spot on. He worked him up and got a better all round play from him. Some don’t agree, that is fine, difference of opinion.

Pardew is English, so I’m sure there is good argument that he is an archetypal English manager. From what I’ve heard he has said that he wants to move away from 4-4-2 and that is what he, his fellow coaches and players are working towards. Can we see it yet? Not really, no. Do I think he’s just making it up? Not really, no. Do I think he needs time before we judge him on this? Absolutely.

We do have some very talented players and some not so. These players currently have to play together, so there wont be one perfect system for them all. We are in a time of adjustment imo and at times it will be messy and painful. Someone said earlier that sometimes you have to take steps backwards to move forward. I’d go along with that.

We’re not in a low league position, we are mid-table. 2 or 3 wins and we’re back where we want to be, however, a few losses and we could find ourselves in an uncomfortable place. Do I think that now is the time to panic? No. Time to evaluate and get to work? Yep.

Next weeks excuse? I think you feel we’re excusing each game individually, which isn’t entirely correct. As I said earlier, we feel we’re taking a broader view of the situation. I don’t honestly expect much this season. We all knew what the problems could or would be, so why is it such a surprise?

We’ve had no form all season. Should we expect better results?

I get everyone is frustrated, I really do, but we have what we have and going back to the old days of “so and so out” isn’t going to move us forward at all imo.

Use some sense Ed. You shouldn’t make these polls for all the games. Especially for games where we play like total utter crap like the games against Hammers and Swans. Asking us to pick the “best” player just brings back the anger because NOBODY deserves to be voted as “best” player.
