Newcastle Have Three Top Players Returning Tonight

Newcastle will welcome back Fabricio Coloccini, Papiss Cisse and Jonas Gutierrez for the game tonight against Maritimo, in Group D of the Europa League, and a win can see us qualify for the knock-out rounds of that competition.

Fabricio Coloccini – will lead the side out tonight

Coloccini still has one league game to serve in the three match ban he picked up when he was sent off at Liverpool, and Papiss Cisse is now free to play after the Senegal Football Federation blocked him playing on Sunday, because he didn’t travel to Niger for Senegal’s mid-week friendly game because of a back injury, and that was a bizarre decision, to say the least.

And Jonas Gutierrez is available to play now that he has quickly recovered from the knee injury he picked up against West Ham a couple of weeks ago, and had to leave the field after only 25 minutes.

Those three players will add some much wanted experience to the side, and that was sadly missing in our defeat to Swansea at home on Sunday afternoon.

But Shola Ameobi is a doubt for the game tonight, and the Nigerian International has another one of those niggly little injuries he seems to pick up – this time to his groin.

Midfielder Cheick Tiote is suspended for the game tonight, and this will be the fourth game he’s missed through suspension this season so far, after picking up a yellow card in our last game at Club Brugge.

We’d be surprised if Cisse or Gutierrez play the full game tonight, because they will be needed for our tough game at Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

And Yohan Cabaye will undergo minor surgery on his groin on tomorrow or on Monday, and he will be out for a few weeks, but could return to the side before the end of the year.

We need to get back to our winning ways tonight – it’s as simple as that.

    firstly

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IBIZA,, HAVS A GREAT DAY AHEAD

ok lets take this at face value and say that it is hard to juggle both compititons, iv no doubt it is,,

now look at the teams he sends out to the games ,, whole sale changes, so the squad must be ok, we are top of our group, with avery good chance of going through tonight,

his first team are playing only one time per week, and doing vey poor, i really dont see how he can use europe as an excuse, infact i think it should be used as a positive for him, right now there is a feel good factor when we play in europe, that is missing from the EPL games,
i think if he looks harder into the mirrow, he will see the problem,
most agree that the performances where not great last season but the results where, and he did not have europe to blame then,

as for lame head above , what a dick he is, not that im say ashley should spend all his money on us, but he can afford to splash a little more than he has and not really see a dent in his cash
then for him to say could field 2 teams,, helo so could we, but on the whole man c man u play there best players in all the matches, unless there is nothing to play for

im getting pretty tired of only hearing excuses, now its before and after the game

for the record,, i think we have a good squad,

I’m guessing this wont be a midweek game where Cisse gets some rest for the league game 🙂

Would like to see him taking the PL apart again.

Utd have made changes in nearly every away game and looked ropey for it

    Rotonda
    How are other teams coping?
Chekski are basically out in the group stages
Man city are out in the group stages
Arsenals league form has been poor
Spuds league form is hit and miss so is there europa
Liverpool have made lots of changes away from home take there last game vs anzhi

Were top of our group and still mid table think you let your blind hatred of pards affect how you see the other teams in europe

Like ibiza and stuart have argued there needs to be a middle ground but to say were the only team struggling to balance the 2 is ridiculous

Another year older, but will I be wiser? Probably not 🙂

As for Pardews excuses, lets hope tonights game gives him some breathing space so he doesn’t feel the need to excuse himself daily as he’s either been put or got himself in a position that words can’t rectify.

    Indian,

I said in a parallel universe, like the bit about having Guardiola as manager . Not in real life!!!

    TADS,

We’re talking about league form being affected. It’s in reverse for us as in Europe we play better with a bit more freedom and flair and more 433. Not massively but definitely better.

City, man u, chelsea are all top 3, arsenal not far away and celtic.

Catchy , lets say we are 6th in the league and already knocked out of EL.. Will we not blame Pardew for Bottling the chance got after 5years..
IF we are prepared for this then we were not right in dreaming for Champs league .
I think we are progressing slowly but surely ..

    You’re missing the point.

We play a reserve team in Europa pretty much so fatigue should not be an issue. is it concidence we play more 433 in europe and look better I don’t think so.

Im not missing any point youve argued that other teams manage to compete in both comps right?
Well they havent looking at msn citys early exit and chelsea are good as gone
Bindippers and spuds are not garunteed either

Now youve changed your arguement to tactics rather than the personel?
Pards have never said the players are fatigued he’s said constantly that there struggling to get the training system correct perhaps additional coaches would help but thats ashleys call not pards
Not really sure what it is you want to see if we were knocked out of europe would you be happy as we could concentrate in the league?
Or would it be why did we try so hard for europe only to not go for it?

Ok… Personally I thought it had some great nods towards the old cliches of the Bond series, effects were good and visually it was very pleasing… But it lacked depth, character development (in places) and the plot seemed a bit lacklustre and ‘holey’. I recommend it if you like action and the bond series in general, I used an orange Wednesday code to avoid being overly disappointed.

    @1

started reading that and thought i had died on gone to heaven as it sounded positive but half way down and it was back to you again lol.

too early in the morn to argue ! just maybe some fans find it hard to see good things this season so he has no choice but to put the best players out in rubbish games and the fact that if he didnt i’m sure you would point out what a great manager he was as he was not interested in europe as he fielded a c**p team with c**p tactics ect ect.

cheering the toon on all day today boys working so its on record from eurosport .

happy bday ibiza hope we win for you tonight buddy.

Bond? Not bad at all. The wife thinks the main man is far uglier than most people think ( bit of a fish face ) but you brits just dont stop bigging yeerselves up do ye? Although not comparable directly in terms of history I much preferred Matt Damon’s stuff – fewer flags, less triumphalist bo11ox. As for Pards ( who might make a good older Bond? ) , I do sympathise a bit re Europe. Even though they are playing second string players, the focus must be distracted. He is partly right about formation too – ie 442/433 doesnnt matter mucg when you are winning like last season. But we have lost much of our intensity – every player must acknowledge this and step it up.
