Gutierrez, Ferguson And Cisse All Start – Ranger On Bench

2:05 pm, Sunday, November 25th, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 603 Comments

There are five changes to the side that started against Maritimo on Thursday night, and Jonas Gutierrez returns to captain the side today at Southampton.

Mike Williamson comes back into the side to partner Steven Taylor, since Coloccini has one more game to serve in his three match ban, and Tiote also returns to central midfield, after being suspended for the game against Maritimo.

Shane Ferguson is back on the left wing, and it could be that Demba Ba will play slightly behind Papiss Cisse up front today.

It looks like Jonas Gutierrez will play out on the right wing today, with Anita and Tiote in central midfield, and Nile Ranger is on the bench, and the 21 year-old could even get his first appearance for Newcastle for a long time today.

We had thought Sylvain Marveaux may have kept his place in the side after a decent performance on Thursday night, when he scored his first goal for the club, but the Frenchman is on the bench.

And it’s good to see James Perch on the bench after his thigh injury, and he could well get a run out in the second half.

Seven players in the side played some part on Thursday night in the 1-1 draw against Maritimo.

Teams:

Southampton (4-2-3-1): Paulo Gazzaniga; Nathaniel Clyne, Jose Fonte, Maya Yoshida, Luke Shaw; Morgan Schneiderlin, Jack Cork; Jason Puncheon, Adam Lallana (c), Gaston Ramírez; Rickie Lambert
Substitutes: Kelvin Davis; Jos Hooiveld, Steven Davis, James Ward-Prowse, Emmanuel Mayuka, Guly Do Prado, Jay Rodriguez

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Steven Taylor, Davide Santon; Jonas Gutierrez (c), Vurnon Anita, Cheick Tiote, Shane Ferguson; Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse
Substitutes: Steve Harper, James Tavernier, James Perch, Gael Bigirimana, Sylvain Marveaux, Sammy Ameobi, Nile Ranger

We need to pick up something at St. Mary’s this afternoon.

well team is almost what i would have sensed the only differance i would have thought sammy would have started

  • 3 toonarmydownsouth // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:08 PM

    Matty
Given the players we have available what line up would you of gone with

  • 4 toonking // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:09 PM

the fact ranger is on the bench is the best evidence yet of how small the squad is.

  • 5 mattnufc // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:09 PM

    Hope ranger doesn’t cap anyone

  • 6 hoppernufc // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:09 PM

in the words of mike bassett – FOUR FOUR F**KING TWO!

  • 7 colwell // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:10 PM

    Just please no 4-4-2

  • 8 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:11 PM

Ba and Cisse, an even worse partnership than Lou Reed and Metallica.

  • 9 catchy in norway // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:11 PM

    first impresions are very poor

looks like he is going there not to lose

4 defenders 3 DMC fergy left wing

    Cisse BA up top

so we can expect lots of long balls from simpson williamson tatlor krul

we can expect only attacking on our left side

we will get beat with this team and this formation

  • 10 JDdubai // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:12 PM

    Oh….My….God…….

That midfield 4 is possibly the least threatening I have ever seen from us, no goal threat from anyone of them, none will attempt to get on the end of a cross, looks like its down to Ba once again

Should have had Marveaux and Sammy in IMO.

This is not going to be pretty!!!!!

  • 11 JAMSHA // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:13 PM

    Ranger to score the winner

  • 12 Hatem_Indonesia // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:14 PM

  • 13 colwell // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:16 PM

Team is set up to not get beat very adventurous Pards. He seem to forget our defence is shite.

are Pardew an idiot manager in Premier League ???

now what ever matty says here your gona pull him to bits,

jonas should not be playing, FULL STOP

he is no longer a left winger, and seeing as fergy is playing why should he get into midfield? ahead of bigi

jonas no longer gets all the fouls he used to , and captain to,, such a shame

its playing jonas that will get him sacked

  • 16 mattyNUFC // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:17 PM

    tads

would have at least put someone in there who can unlock a defence

  • 17 niafron // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:17 PM

Well, with all these injuries, this more about courage than play today…

So the line up doesn’t really matter i guess, but i too, should have had Marv.

  • 18 check the toastie // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:18 PM

Typical unimaginitive pardew, 2 up top with no one getting beyond them at any point. Long ball footy here we come. This is another nail is Pardewasaurusus coffin.

  • 19 ToonzGotTalent // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:18 PM

WTF is pardew doing… marveax should start, so should sammy screw guti and cisse and go 433, with anita, tiote and ferguson in the middle, as an improvised creative player and sammy on the right, marv on the left and ba up front.. THIS MAKES SENSE AGAINST A TEAM AT THE VERY BOTTOM!!

  • 20 Novocastrian66 // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:19 PM

Those of you that are saying it is a crap line up talk like Pardew had a choice. The time has picked itself, what are the alternatives?
    They’re aren’t many if any.

  • 21 JDdubai // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:19 PM

Every time the ball is launched from back to front, see how many of the midfield are looking for the flick on or knock down.

Every time it is crossed from the left, see how many times Tiote, Anita or Jonas are in the box. Ditto when it is on the right.

Anita and Tiote cant work as a 2, neither is the box to box player we need in there. We dont have one sadly but they could work in a 4231 with Marveaux or whoever ahead of them behind Ba

Anyway, now Iv got that off my chest, I really hope Im completely wrong about this and we are fantastic, Jonas is dribbling past men for fun, Fergie is arriving into the box to score, we arent just launching it to the front 2 with a 30 yard gap back to the midfield…….

  • 22 toonLYF // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:20 PM

That’s a side set up for the long ball system if i’ve ever seen one. I’d usually judge after the match, but sadly i can’t see anything but standard procedure being resumed with that line up today.

  • 23 mattyNUFC // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:20 PM

    and where is Abeid?

so we have marveaux and only him in hoping for creativity….and he’s on the bench.

if i were him i’d be on the first flight back to france in january

  • 24 catchy in norway // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:22 PM

every season there is one clown in the league

this season its pardew, he is like the pandpiper, with his loyal band of followers on this blog, he can do no wrong in there eyes

they only see the problems above him

all you ewho think the problems are the 2 fat men above him ,, go and do some maths will ye, that stuff is for accountants, not football fans

football fans want to watch football, 99% of us no we will not win anything so the one thing we would like is to be entertained with good football

    Matty
Do we have anyone fit that can do that? Maybe marv i suppose in front of anita n tiote?

    and tads

agree about fergie. should be nowhere near CM, and, if i’m completely honest, the starting line-up at this point in his career.

and tads, if he’s dead-set on starting jonas, at least put him in front of tiote and anita. god knows nothing forward is gonna go through them

Forgive the creators crappy editing, but I want to see more of this from Ferguson! http://youtu.be/I0nFXKDxdjA

Can remember being really excited about his prospects after this. Play with no fear! Whip balls into dangerous areas, early!

  • 41 JDdubai // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:29 PM

Its the formation thats the issue, 442 only will work for our team with AC upfront who can dominate in the air. Ba and Cisse are not that effective with the ball fizzing past their throats or over their heads….

Fergie is a LB or nothing for me, will need training in the position and bulking up but he will never be a goal threat which I think you need to be playing LW or Left attacker whereas arriving from deep and swinging in some crosses would be ideal for him.

Hate, hate hate being negative, hate it even more that the excitement I felt before every match last season has been replaced by this dull feeling of dread or inevitability that 90 mins of crap is about to unfold in front of me….

We have picked a team for a scrap, against a relegation candidate, we have lowered ourselves to their level and Id guess they know how to play this kind of football better than we do.

    Welcome to the scrap….

  • 42 bri h // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:29 PM

some of the coments on here are so poor .The team is down to the bare bones ffs .yes the squad is too small but anny team in the land would suffer if they couldnt pick from virtually half their regestered squad .wake up you fools and support your team that crosses the white line .

  • 43 colwell // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:29 PM

  • 44 toonarmydownsouth // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:30 PM

    Matty
Aye fergie should not be in the starting line up imo
Not infront of marv i know he hasnt shown his best yet but worryingly i think fergie has and its still not as impressive as the 5 mins of form marvs shown!

Also if were starting with Mr.T and anita amalfitano should be on the bench instead of bigi
I like bigi but how many defensive players do we need in the matchday squad

  • 45 ash1001 // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:30 PM

Not a Pardew lover in any way, but he did not have much to play around with today. Those that say Marveux should have started, other than scoring on Thursday, he did very little, passing was poor and effort not much better.
And please get of Nile Rangers back, its not doing anyone any good at all, OK he did wrong but so have so many others, he’s never done jail like Joey, I do not agree with anything he has done but its in the past, today is the present lets just wish the lad well, hes in a black and white – that’s all that matters.
Its going to be tough, but here’s hoping

  • 46 EastEndMagpie // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:30 PM

in fairness Anita in more of a forward role could be very creative, he did come through the Ajax system after all so he can pass it, and we all saw that sublime strike in europe against Brugge that he scored, i’m going to be optimistic about this one, i think he has the ability to give Cisse and Ba afew decent through-balls, and i do think if he gets the oppurtunity he has the ability to score aswell, do agree that Jonas shouldnt be playing ahead of Bigi in the centre but you cant knock his workrate and experience, so perhaps that might pay of to be a shrude move by Pardew? especially without Colo and Cabaye

Its more that fact that i think that we really need 3 points today after the last 3 games, 3 points and we are just below 8th (hoping that Spurs and West Ham draw lol) we lose, and we arent too far away from the bottom lot, really dont want too see us start to really have to need 3 points every game just to avoid slipping away, because then the real pressure starts to arise…

hoping for an optimistic 2-0 victory (clean sheet and away win, i know, im mad)

  • 47 Jail for Ashley // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:31 PM

  • 48 solano // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:31 PM

Catchy@24..you’ll get neither with this regime….you’re naive and silly if you think the problems are not intrinsically linked to the very top. And you don’t need to be an accountant to know that – just look at the mediocrity we are fielding after some injuries.
I’m hoping to God we win today, and I hope you are too, but I really do question your sanity if you think the decision makers will bring someone in, better than the present incumbent.
    HWTL

  • 49 niafron // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:31 PM

Let’s be fair with Pard, Marv is still struggling to come back from almost two years without playing football and he played 3 days ago, so it’s probably wise to let him on the bench.

  • 50 Ashton // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:32 PM

I’m hoping for a 451/433. With Fergi on the right hand side.

    ——–Cisse
    Ba————–Fergi

With Jonas, Anita and Tiote in the middle.

I don’t think it’s going to happen though.

and the inclusion of ranger? we shouldn’t have two strikers starting today as is. now marvs is the only player we have who can come on and hopefully give us something. bigi needs some games in the u21s and abeid and/or amalfitano need to be given a chance while there is one

pardew has to many faults to ever be a good manager,

Jail – there might be some merit in that.

He essentially said that the fringe players weren’t at the quality of the first team. And now we are relying on the fringe players. Can’t be great for there confidence knowing the MD doesn’t think they’re up to standard.

  • 61 JDdubai // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:39 PM

Ah Southampton, just promoted and playing with 3 creative nippy players behind the target man….guess I was wrong to think both teams would be playing a championship level 442 hoofball, guess its just us then.

However just thinking about our side, with the same players you could go:

    Krul
    Simmo-Willo-Saylor
    Santon-Anita-Tiote-Fergie
    Jonas
    Ba-Cisse

And try to crush their 3 men behind Lambert, in theory with only 1 man to mark 3 defenders will do and give us more of a wide threat down both flanks too….maybe its too much Football Manager :(

  • 62 geordiejosh // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:40 PM

  • 63 Rowan Milsted // Nov 25, 2012 at 2:40 PM

I’m worried about the lack of creativity in midfield – really thought Marveaux would play, maybe just tucked in behind Ba with Sammy on the right and Fergie on the left, Tiote and Guti in the middle.

4-4-2 hasn’t worked well so far this season. We have horrendous injuries and general fatigue from Europe but it’s time to stop the excuses now – we MUST perform and win today.

who runs the club has nothing to do with the style of football we watch
the 2 at the very top are not my fave guys in the world, and how they run the club baffels me,
but how they run that up staires ie how much they will spend, has nothing today with pardew playing long ball football, unless they are the ones asking for it,
pardew is the guy picking the team, pardew is the guy giving the instructions on how he wants the game to go from how he sees it,
on 2 years of watching how we play, i can tell you his style is very negative, regardless of who is in the team

he gets a goal in front and sits, unless the other team score,
should that other team score first then its good night, we have never came back to win a game,,

or i may be just making this all up,

I expect Southamptons CAM to drop down a lot. So I can already say that Southampton will control this game pretty easy. Why we’re using Ferguson ahead of Marveaux is beyond me, probably with defending in mind. Although offensively we’ll suffer from a massive lack of creativity today. Let’s hope for a miracle (can’t believe I’m saying this ahead of a game against Southampton).

But at times, he has his hands tied behind his back in terms of resources and I would also say that our ‘better ability’ players have slipped back in their standards, not so much because of our manangers methods, but more so because they are under no pressure for their first team place, when fit.
Complacency has set in and motivational skills are very much in need in the short term but long term planning and strategy at the top means ambition and consistently trying to improve, not being content with consolidation .
Formations etc fall into insignificance if we don’t have the adequate personnel and an ethos at the club which strives to be the best. Patsy is just a pawn in the big scheme of things as we may find out if things get worse.

  • 143 inceptoon // Nov 25, 2012 at 3:34 PM

It will be the formation that will matter because there is little creativity coming from the players on today. Rather than passing quickly, it will be keeping the ball and exploring the gap in the Southampton defence that will see us scoring. Not being negative but i think we will be coming back from 1-0 down at halftime to level 1-1 at the second half to take home a precious point. I hope i am wrong and Cisse scores a brace.HWTL

To keep our purple chips the owner may have to sack pardew because class acts like Ben Arfa will be gracing Old Trafford next season.

As it stands we’re 4 points off a bottom three. Could already be 3:0 down and don’t look like scoring.
I think we started off ok playing the ball along the ground but soon realized BA and Cisse have no control whatsoever and went long. That enabled Southampton to come on to us and the rest is history. Like our Premier League place at the end of this season.

lets get players involved more, why are we not getting the ball out wide, if your asking for the ball and dont get it blame the player on the ball, the africans are playing like they have rubber legs, everything is bouncing of them, the hold up play is awful, evereything is going through the middle when we have it, and the two up fron are terrible playing together, 442 is a nightmare for us he must know this, there is no cohesion between those two lads up front at all. fergfgie gets put over to right wing beacuse he is getting no service so no doubt he will get sacrificed either half time or 60 mins, totally unfair when other players give the ball away at will.

but the players are who control the ball if pardew say hoof it they don’t need to listen if they knew hoofing was bad they would ignore him and pass but the players are like statues and just don’t move enough, no wonder pardew keeps saying they tired, and beside what could he say that would not cause anger between the players and manager.

Llambias lost all our momentum with his penny-pinching.

The squad must have been gutted that we didn’t significantly improve the player pool.
No ambition, after they were no doubt promised we were going places.

  • 249 Rotonda heights // Nov 25, 2012 at 3:55 PM

I think injuries and fatigue are poor excuses. Different team most Thursdays and we’ve still been losing even with Colo and Benny in the side.

Pardew has to be the stubbornest, possibly stupidest dinosaur of a manager I’ve ever known to not see that after 20 + games Cisse and Ba do not work in a 442 together. We do not work in a 442 period! It’s such an easy fix – just play 1 up front.

442 exposes willo and simmo even more than usual. Southampton playing all the football. We’ve come for a point and that’s the saddest thing of all.

there’s no link up play in the midfield. Every f****ing time we get the ball we hoof it up. I mean what is this???
In case you dont know AP, we have scored the minimum number of goals in the PL by any team in set plays. Yet we hoof it up all the time. For gods sake we dont have AC any more, or are you still doing this in the hope that he’s coming back. God forbid he comes back to NUFC.

And WTF is gutierrez doing. Is he playing football. I cant understand what he brings to the team apart from lethargy!!

I have been a member of this blog for a long time and i usually dont comment -vely, but this man is seriously BS. There’s not f*****ing vision in our play. I was jsut watching swansea play and what a delight to watch.

This is not really down to we not having our main players, even with them every time we hoof the ball from defence to upfield. I mean this is not basketball man, football is all about passing..

He defence and midfield are not great today either but Ba is killing us as a dynic footballing team. Don’t care about the goals he has scored, they are to the detriment of the team. Our football gets worse and worse. Please Pards, get him off. Try something different. Sammy or Ranger for Ba. Marveaux for Anita. Drop Jonas into CM.

Pardew should replace Jonas with Ranger (who once was at Soton and maybe has a point to prove) who has pace and can run down the channels.

The team seem as if they have never played together, oh wait.
Our midfield is shocking, cant win a tackle without giving a free kick, cant pass, cant support the defence quick enough and cant support the strikers.
Seems as if the final quarter of the pitch and the defensive quarter are out of bounds, a bit like table football but with papier machet footballers rather than steel or even hard plastic.
Pardew out is not the answer though, whoever comes in will be given the same pool of players, a lot of whom aren’t good enough.
We are shite at the moment though, need our strikers and midfield more fluid, everything looks delayed, every pass cut out , no movement off the ball, no clue what to do when they have the ball .
We have no quality from corners or free kicks and struggle to create chances from our set plays and inevitably succumb then end upon the back foot.
Chin up though, it could be worse we could be mackemscum

we’re not knuckle draggers. We’re just sick of watching a really bad manager every week who is out thought by every other manager. Just ask a west ham fan. One good season followed by a crap one.

Yes we know we’d only get another crap manager like JFK but this is ‘t much better and doesn’t mean we have to like it and keep quiet! Pardew is making allardyce and pulis look like watching Brazil!

Wonder if they use a ticking time bomb instead of a football in training cos they all look scared to have the ball – just looking to get rid at every opportunity and more often than not giving it away to the opposition. One we start to have a bit composure we look a bit better

  • 349 cockneymagpie90 // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:20 PM

Love that fact people blaming that pardew hasnt had backing from ashley and co so its not his fault hahahaha!!! When we started this season i for one was happy we kept all our star players and expected a good turn out and to be battling for the 5th spot again. Any manger would dream of having just one of our star players in their squad so this is not an excuse!!! Its pardews negative tactics that are ruining us and the fact he uses both ba and cisse together!! Its an absolute joke!! Oh and santon should be used higher up the pitch, hes the only one who comes close to ben arfa and hes our LB, to say that our most creative player today is a LB says it all really. If i had my way id sack pardew and get someone with real footballing ambition who actually knows about football and get us playing like a team that wants to score goals!! Nuff said.

  • 357 valle // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:21 PM

Cant defend this anymore, those that do are blind… We play as bad as anything i have seen… Jonas, Simpson, Williamson, Cisse and Tiote, dont care if you call them good or bad players, but they are constantly giving the ball to the oposition, make of that what you want… AP has a part of it as well for sticking to that 4-4-2 when its blatantly obvious that it dosnt suit us. I dont want rid of AP but i do wish he oped his eyes to the fact that our success last season came from the 4-3-3 system, only reason we dont use it is because Ba wont play wing and he cant get himself to bench neither Ba nor Cisse.

  • 358 Nufc-83 // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:22 PM

  • 365 toonLYF // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:22 PM

the body language of the players resembles that of a beaten team. Southampton cannot defend, yet for some reason, we’re afraid to throw men towards their box. The very basics of football when trailing, and we can’t do it? Over to you Pardew.

  • 366 mattnufc // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:23 PM

    Cockney magpie,
Well that pretty much shows what you know about football to think that a team that doesn’t improve or refresh can better its self,
I don’t know what this slump is about,Pards obviously has to take some blame as do the players, but then again after our MD pretty much told them our purple strategy and who was and who wasn’t,the fact that Simmo is classed as purple yet isn’t being offered a purple contract, also the fact that any players with a voice were shipped out and now it looks as though we have a lot of very unhappy disillusioned players on our hands,I suppose knowing their gaffa is a yes man who will say one thing then change his mind the next day isn’t helping matters either.

  • 432 toonheroes // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:37 PM

Jail, think you’re definitely onto something there.
I think the lack of investment in the summer was down to our MD sprouting off when he was drunk what an assh0le he can be, so pretty much invited the clubs who we were dealing with to play hardball so as not to seem mugs like Liverpool.
Not signing Debuchy has definately affected Cabaye and the latest outburst about the purple players must have pissed a few players off as well. All in all I blame Lamearse and him alone. What can Pardew do when he is being undermined at every step by a drunken fat fool of a MD. Rant over

I was so close to going to this game, thank god i didn’t. This is not worth a 14 hour round trip!

Marveaux has looked quite good since coming on. Without HBA or Cabaye he had to start, the only other player in our squad vaguely capable of being creative and doing something which the opposition aren’t expecting.

After the Liverpool game I said to a friend at least we should be unbeaten until mid-December. How wrong was I! 0 points from West Ham, Swansea and Southampton is truly appalling!

  • 456 niafron // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:41 PM

    We will be better cause:

    1) Beny, Cab and Colo will come back.
    2) It will be a crisis in the dressing room and the players will talk to each other.
    3) As the last Europa league’s game proved it, Pard is aware of the weakness of his tactic and is now ready to switch to 4-5-1.
4)Ben Arfa, Ben Arfa, Ben arfa.
    5) And a little bit of Marv who come back just in time.
    6) We will buy a true LB in January, and possibly a CB.
    7) We still have one of the three best strikers of the league.
    8) Krull is a good keeper and will stop to make these stupid mistakes.

sad to say I see us as relegation candidates. What many on here fail to remember is how bad we were for most of last season. Full of inept performances with a bit of class in second half of games winning them for us. This is just downright garbage! No creativity, even when we had a full team. No confidence, all since pardew was stupidly given an 8 year contract. The players must wonder what the hell any owner is doing giving out 8 year contracts. Wouldn’t do it with any player do why with a sub standard manager with one half decent season under his belt!!

  • 468 solano // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:43 PM

JFA @387..in a nutshell. The fat controller has to go and he won’t unless the fans stop the flow into his wallet and make him realise it’s long overdue he shipped out…that means taking a proactive and responsible approach to ‘persuading’ him.
One thing that all fans should think about is: Buying season tickets has long been unnecessary yet their sale in large numbers make those fans complicit in the continued exploitation of the name of NUFC and the continued failure to realise potential.
Pardew is in big trouble now -the performances are not acceptable – but before we go on the merry go round again, fans need to ask themselves if this is just trying to patch over an ever widening chasm.

  • 469 ToonzGotTalent // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:43 PM

With him providing stability in the midfield we have p5 w4 d1 2.6points per game (title winning form).

    with him in defence p8 w2 d4 l2 1.25 ppg (mid table)

without him as of today we have played 8, w0 d4 l4

They do say that with defensive midfielders they arent noticed until they have gone

What an absolute shamble of a game, Pardew is hands down an awful manager. As for those who stick up for him, you’s really need to give your head a wobble.

What the hell is up with the CONSTANT 4-4-2? It barley ever works, absolutely pathetic. Ba and Cisse cannot and NEVER will be able to work together properly, so drop one of them.

Switch to 4-3-3, were a hell of a lot better in it.

Simpson, Williamson, Cisse and Guttierez are absolutely shite these days.

He replaced our BEST player on the pitch with Marveaux, why the hell not replace Ba, Cisse of Guttierez. Absolutely pathetic.

And to top it off when were getting beat 2-0 in the 90th minute, he friggin takes off Steven Taylor for perch. What a f***ing idiot.

Pardew OUT! Promote Peter Beardsley to manager, the reserves play far better then our first team.

I said i’d give Pardew until december to show us why he should continue as manager, but who am i kidding? He is clueless. He doesn’t got the tactical skills, and he hasn’t got the personality to manage a squad of players and make them play for him.

He’s never been a good manager. He won’t be a good manager, and we can only hope that Ashley see the value of having a good manager after this, or at least a clear philosophy of how to play football.

  • 512 Spreadthetoon // Nov 25, 2012 at 4:51 PM

Why start ferguson when he is nowhere near ready to be playing in the pl,why start cisse and ba upfront together, why play 442, why play jonas and make him captain, why are simpson and williamson anywhere near the team, why not bring ranger on…

There’s an old expression that says
Newcastle fans are the best and the worst in the world.

I always knew this was true, but I always thought it was like 70:30 in favour of being the best fans in the world.

I seriously have changed my opinion of that. There is no way we are the best fans in te world. We aren’t the best fans in the country, we aren’t even the best fans in the north. The only reason we are the best fans in te north east is because there’s only 3 clubs.

I think it is now 20:80 in favour of being the worst.

I honestly feel worse about our fans at the moment than I do the team.

Can’t agree with you. As much as he has wound me up Ashley would certainly prefer us to be winning titles and in europe than just ticking over in the prem. the only way he is gonna generate money is in Europe and the only way we are gonna get there is by investing and he needs to in Jan. he ain’t an idiot so that will happen because we are appalling at the moment n it’s partly due to lack of squad depth and meaning there’s no competition for the first team

Also I can’t see Pardew being sacked with his 8 yr contract. However I wouldn’t be surprised that there is a clause in that contract along the lines of, if we are in the relegation zone your out with no compensation, well maybe a bit more formally written.

  • 587 Spreadthetoon // Nov 25, 2012 at 5:09 PM

are we playing as a team? Last year was the first time in a long time where we were playing attractive football, good passing and common understanding. We are not even a shadow of that…..no one minds if the lads put in a decent performance and works for the team but there is no getting away from it. If AP continues to play 4-4-2 and allow players like Cisse and BA dictate the shape of the team etc….then quite frankly they need to go. No player is bigger than the club and I think the whole saga around BA;s contract creates uncertainty….either commit to the toon or go elsewhere?

  • 588 IndonesiaToon // Nov 25, 2012 at 5:09 PM

At the end of the day we more or less have the same team that gave chelsea, Liverpool and spurs a Good run last year. Blaming pardew is the easiest thing to do. We didn’t strengthen when we should have and that is ashleys fault entirely. He had enough money to pump into rangers afterall.

  • 590 gringo burt // Nov 25, 2012 at 5:11 PM

we just made southampton look lke barca, the problem is for me that giving pards a 8 year contract will not keep him on his toes, keep him sharp. another problem nufc didnt invest when we were on top last season. now we are sh*t and its for all to see

  • 591 beefman13 // Nov 25, 2012 at 5:12 PM

That was so frustrating today i havnt felt like this after a game for a long long time!

Got to say the two dembas are the worst pairing i have ever seen as a partnership anywhere at any time. i know they have scored goals but as a pairing playing together they cannot string one pass together it is pure comical genius!!!!!

ochytoon young fergie dosnt gey enough of the ball, time and time again he gets bypassed, mainly santon not giving him it its a crime, its like a striker playing up front who dosnt get service it makes them look poor but you need to be fed and it is not happening, sammy did squat all when he came on as well.

They will all hqave to start to pull tigether big time beacuse we are sliding to quickly even for my liking, at least two quality players need brought in january for definate, no excuses.

we have to move forward and there are a few now who have to move on IMO. i like everyone else am gutted by that today, no exscuses by anyone it was not good enough at all not by any stretch of the imagination.

  • 593 sirtoongospel // Nov 25, 2012 at 5:16 PM

Not good enough. Formation poor, players poor. Simpson, willo, taylor(on current form), Anita, Sammy, Jonas. All not good enough. Add to that the poor form of others and we are in the shit:

We need Several additions. All of us knew it in the summer, and if ever Ashley was gonna back a manager it was then. But he didn’t. And he won’t do it in January. Pardew is as much to blame as the players, but they are well behind Ashley if we are playing the blame game.

We had Debuchy on a plate. Douglas also. Those 2 would have been a start. But our midfield is awful. Formations aside, we are so so poor in midfield. The Ba/Cisse debate is irrelevant until we find a dominant centre mid player. Cheick has lost his edge big style.

If January comes and goes with less than a net gain of 3 players then I will be devastated.

  • 594 Rotonda heights // Nov 25, 2012 at 5:18 PM

There’s something very wrong in the state of Denmark

    Most long balls played
    Almost lowest goal scorers
    Worst set play record
    No away wins

The penny just never drops with Pardew that Ba and Cisse never works in a 442. That’s over 25 games this buffoon hasn’t changed this god awful clueless hoof ball s..t to 2 big target men.

Nothing to do with injuries or fatigue just a rubbish system v 3 recently promoted teams, 2 of those at home.

Pardew has been seriously found out, just like his second season at West Ham. It’s Mullins and Harewood over tevez ad Mascherano all over again.

Last year 5th – that was then, this is now. It just proves Pardew is not consistently good. Luck and stumbling on 433 were his biggest breaks but the idiot has turned his back on it and to me suggests we did well in spite of him not because if him last season.

Do we ever practice passing the ball!!!!!!!!!!

  • 599 Premiership Manager // Nov 25, 2012 at 5:27 PM

Some people seem to forget it’s team game. If there are problems in the dressing room, problems on the bench or problems with tactics it is up to the Manager and back room staff to sort it out.

Tactically Pardue can be very niave. I’d rather play 4-5-1 on every away game and grind out a result than loose control of the midfield and give the other team the running of the pitch.

There has to balance to the midfield, to the squad and the team and it is blatently missing this year. Without being too critical many African nation players come to the EPL to put themselves in the bigger European window and I do wonder how much of this is going on at Newcastle as player and agent power can cause so many problems behind the scenes.

I may be totally wrong but something is fundamentally wrong behind the scenes and it needs to be sorted out at the next window even if it means a mass clearout in January and going back to simple basics.

  • 600 BartZ // Nov 25, 2012 at 5:36 PM

  • 601 geordiemacc // Nov 25, 2012 at 5:36 PM

A team that that lacks any passing ability, guile or determination + a manager whom doesn’t care cos win lose or draw still has eight years left on his contract + a chairman who is more concerned about money coming in than fan satisfaction equals a problem the fans have to like or lump for the foreseeable future. That’s all folks.
