Newcastle After Saint Etienne Forward

8:24 am, Sunday, November 25th, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 7 Comments

It’s Sunday again,  so there are reports about players moving all over the place, and one such report has Newcastle wanting to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Saint Etienne in January.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – versatile Saint Etienne forward

The 23 year=-old plays as a forward and stands 6’1″ tall and started his career at AC Milan in early 2007, and he was loaned out to Dijon, Lille and Monaco before joining Saint Etienne on loan in early 2011, and he finally signed for them on a permanent basis late last year.

At the French club he has played 64 times and scored 28 goals, so he has a good eye for goal.

Pierre-Emerick was born in Laval, France of Gabon descent and he has so far played 26 times for Gabon with 8 goals. Pierre is the son of former Gabonese international Pierre Aubameyang and is the younger brother of Catilina and Willy, who have both also played for the Milan youth teams.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – with Spiderman mask

But this is where the deal gets a little dodgy, because his value is quoted at around £9M, and we cannot see Newcastle paying that much for this lad, who is a bit like Jonas Gutierrez and wears a Spiderman mask sometimes – when he scores.

But since English referees give players yellow cards for having some fun, he will not be able to do that if he arrives in England, where Aston Villa are also said to be interested in the player.

But the player is versatile and can play as an out and out striker or on the wing, and he has also played in central midfield.

But there again that high valuation will probably rule out Newcastle making a move – if that valuation is accurate.

The report is in the People and they erroneously say that Alan Pardew is looking for a replacement for Demba Ba, who is at the African Cup of Nations with Senegal in January, but of course Senegal did not qualify.

We’d be surprised if this report has much truth in it.

What do you think?

One spidey is enough and we don’t get many goals or assists from him

I’ve watched him a few times in ligue 1 this season and he would be a good signing. He is quick and is the type of striker we need. £9m is a fair valuation.

Shite mask indeed! Need to improve all over the pitch in January, Center back, Simmo replacement, (let’s face it, he’s off!) creative mid, and a Cf
