I remember when we signed demba ba i was speaking to a couple of West ham fans when i was in London on a night out. They said he will get you goals but he will always drop deep and get the ball the take ages to do anything with it and be very selfish only looking to shoot. They said that west ham played better football without him in the side as he constantly messed up the flow and rhythm of the attacks.
Thought this was sour grapes but i can see where they were coming from definitely.

    Sack Llambias.

  • 3 Jail for Ashley // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:51 PM

    Jails too good for Llambias.

  • 4 stuart no9 // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:52 PM

at least there is 1 positive that comes out of us down the lower end of the league- and that is pards will be in his comfort zone now. back to where he belongs!

  • 5 sirtoongospel // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:52 PM

Sorry but tonight I struggle to blame Pards too much. The Anita role was ideal and he tried something a bit different. A slack pass from Tiote has cost us the game. They had offered nothing and we gave them it on a plate. Simpson, Willo and Jonas clear weak links. Perhaps at 1-0 he should have taken a striker off and put another midfielder on but really it’s individual errors cost us. If that had finished 1-0 no one could have had complaints from a Stoke perspective

  • 6 Jail for Ashley // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:52 PM

I’m seriously considering mailing Ed and asking if if I can change my user Id.

  • 7 ONLINE GUY // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:53 PM

Ashley was on holiday in Rome last transfer window ..Pardew sent him a message via Lambarse read …..
….Send reinforcements we are going to advance

By the time the message got to Ashley, via Lambarse and Lambarse’s son, it read ..Send three and fourpence we’r going to a dance.

  • 8 BelfastMagpie // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:54 PM

Throw Llambias in the tyne, with a tow bar around his neck.

  • 9 NUFC STEVE // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:54 PM

Who played more long balls tonight us or them?

  • 10 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:55 PM

  • 11 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:56 PM

Nufc Steve – them by far. From what I remember we might have played 10. All from Williamson. Even krul was passing short.
Stoke probably played about 80 long balls.
We played a good passing game today.

  • 12 BelfastMagpie // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:56 PM

What will you change it too??

    Lethal injection for Ashley? Haha

  • 13 pedro // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:56 PM

It’s a tough time at the moment. We are playing terribly and its difficult to lay the blame completely at the door of injuries and a small squad. However, the conundrum is whether we would actually be better off sacking Pardew at this stage of the season. Lots of people on here are desperate for this to happen and seem to have the attitude that anyone is better than him but that is not the case, and looking back at some of our managers we should be aware of this.
Some of the names put forward are either no improvement, vastly inexperienced and so a huge gamble as to whether they would be an improvement or completely unavailable. Bear in mind that sacking Pardew would inevitably cost money that Ashley would then not give to funding in Jan. Then we have a new manager who we must give at least a year to “shape his team” in the hope that things improve drastically.
    It’s a tricky one

  • 14 BelfastMagpie // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:57 PM

    Put Llambias in a sack!!

  • 15 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:58 PM

Jail – you can. If you’re on a computer, click on your name at the top right, them it opens a settings thing. You can change It there.

“Jail For Ashley (And Death For Lambias)”

  • 16 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Nov 28, 2012 at 10:59 PM

Attach lambias to the top of the Tyne bridge by his testicles.
    Untill he buys us players.

  • 17 Nufc-83 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:01 PM

Steve don’t listen to conaldo he has only just started watching football. The team was as usual we can’t string more than three passes together in the opposition half. No link from midfield to sts. Only positive was anitas workrate that was unbelievable. The commentators confirmed during the game we play the most long balls in the premeirship.

  • 18 pedro // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:02 PM

I say drag Ashley and Llambias on to the town moor and burn them in some kind of ritual a la the wicker man

  • 19 nufc90 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:02 PM

Lose on Monday, pardew’s gotta go for me. Same old excuses again

  • 20 sirtoongospel // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:02 PM

Unless Ashley has a personality transplant, and decides that he loves spending sprees, I think we should without doubt stick with pards. It’s not as though Jose is gonna come with a £50m warchest!

Tonight we almost got it right, individual errors cost us. When we win on Monday (and yes i think we will) things will look a bit brighter

  • 21 stuart no9 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:03 PM

ED- can you take his ugly mug off that banner????

  • 22 Nufc-83 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:03 PM

Conaldo name one chance we created from your so called good passing.

  • 23 Raztoonarmy // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:05 PM

    We need players desperate

  • 24 croftus5678 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:06 PM

i’m sorry i just dont understand tbh if your a striker you are told to shoot if there is only half a chance at goal as they are meant to be greedy even shearer was and i would not call it a bad thing tbh with the goals he has got ! and when you say only thinks of himself ! he does a lot of work in our own box as you should have noticed at some risky times today.
i think one major possitive to come out of this today was ba and cisse’s partnership as for once they did not run for the same ball once that i noted which shows they are starting to know how eachother plays.

  • 25 Nufc-83 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:07 PM

What i would do to have guthrie or routledge back at the moment

  • 26 nick_9 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:08 PM

Conaldo you said in your last post you havent got time for people who are saying Pardew has used excuses but he has used every possible reason going and still persisted with lineups and silly set pieces. Its not like Hba, Cabaye, Colo, Tiote, Taylor have all been out at the same time, a lot of our starting eleven has been available barring one or two players. Pardew said HE was happy with the squad, HE said he didnt want any defensive reinforcements in the window, LLAMBIAS said Williamson is doing a fine job so we dont need another CB. They’re all full of rubbish and Pardew for me is stubborn and to eager to cover for those turds above him. Any manager worth there salt would have wanted more players in the window and they would have spoken out, he is all about protecting his job. I thought you was an arm chair fan papering over the cracks but when yousaid how away fans have mocked us with the famous atmosphere chant i realised you do attend home games. What is it like where you sit? do fans try to sing? do you? I see nothing but glum faces the majority of the time after gutless uninspiring performanes. The fans are flat and need a spark, Pardew said it himself last week, Now we have to provide a spark for the players apparently. Its easier said then done, last home game we tried to do something as fans and our efforts just get rebuffed. I am sure we will raise the roof on monday because we have no other choice, the team are failing so our only hope is to raise the roof and hope they respond. I just hope people arent sat on their hands dwelling on recent results. I dont mind ranting and raving on a blog to relieve some of my discontent but when i am at the games i stay til the end and try and get the fans going

  • 27 Nufc-83 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:09 PM

Croftus if not running for the same ball is good enough for you to think that partnership is starting to work tents a sorry state of affairs.

  • 28 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:10 PM

    Yeah don’t listen to me.
I only started watching football yesterday apparently.

83- you are a sad miserable sod and I don’t really wish to talk to you. We created several chances, but without our key creative players, how can u expect us to play beautiful football. We scored a decent goal against a very tough team.

Fans have been saying I don’t care if we lose as long as the players put there heart and soul into the game and play good football. That is what I and many others saw today. If you can’t seperate the performance from the result, then I feel sorry for you, as you are obviously have problems.

Stuart – or we tattoo his face onto yours? Sounds more fun.

  • 29 croftus5678 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:10 PM

i’m saying its an improvement over what they have been doing

  • 30 Nufc-83 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:13 PM

we didn’t play good football though that’s the whole point. Name a move you can remember were we played your so called good football????????

  • 31 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:13 PM

Pardew always said we needed players.

He actually said we were going to sign Debuchy and a goal scoring centre back. Several times.

He knew exactly what players we needed/ wanted. Lambias didn’t get them.

We bid for Debuchy, Douglas, de Jong,
    Carroll, and Anita.
    We only got one.

    It’s lambias’ fault.

  • 32 solano // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:13 PM

How is Llambias responsible? He is just enacting the orders from above. The one who is ultimately responsible is the dictator of policy.
Until the majority of fans who pay their money upfront and are complicit in the continuation of this regime, wake up, stand up and say ‘no more’, then this unacceptable waste of talent and potential will go on.

  • 33 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:16 PM

    Right I’m off.

    Win together
    Lose together
You can’t just have the wins.

    In Pardew we trust

  • 34 Nufc-83 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:16 PM

Conaldo if you had said we still played crap but three team showed more effort so there’s a positive lets just hope we continue to up are game i would have said fair play but this good football rubbish is showing how much you actually know about football

  • 35 croftus5678 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:17 PM

perches shot / cisse’s goal and the lead up to it / the attack a few mins after the 1st goal was all decent football anita played some decent balls and collo and santon weaved there way through a few times and slotted a decent pass on.

  • 36 ToonDownSouth // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:18 PM

What makes people think that we’ll sign players in January?

I’m not sure where that optimism comes from…

  • 37 Big Pappa Cissé // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:19 PM

Just watched the Swansea highlights on MOTD and seeing how they play with inferior players really boils my pi55. What else could this be down to other than tactics or formation(and don’t mention injury’s because we have been dire all season). One or two players might not be performing at their best but as for the whole team I highly doubt it

  • 38 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:20 PM

83- I’m not going to say we played crap because I don’t think we did. You’re not going to change my opinion on that. I 100% agree
With Pardew, if we play like that every game
    We will be fine.

    Win together Lose together.

  • 39 ToonDownSouth // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:23 PM

It took Swansea years and years to implement that style, to be fair.

You just have to look at Liverpool to see how slowly it happens.

  • 40 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:27 PM

The happy-clappers will be saying a 17th place finsih is acceptable soon. Coanldo’s already swaying that way with ‘we’ll be fine’.

17th – Oh Pardew how we’d bask in that success!

  • 41 Earl // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:28 PM

god this blog goes so quick lol. apologies this is the second repost:

    @Transfer Sage

You are right about our play. I agree it has been abysmal at times. I just think that some of the comments that have been made are so far fetched its unreal! I not only see see the lack of confidence in the players, but the supports lack of confidence in out team. As soon as Williamson has the ball, you hear the crowd cringing, and he panics. Its the same on the other end of the scale Our impact players feed off the support. Take Ben Arfa for example every time hes on the ball, the crowd are up off their seats willing him to do his magic. And low and behold he produces something incredible that gets us going again.

I’m not saying that the crowd is the main reason we are playing so badly, I just think that with our fans, there’s always an extra effort and spark in the players when we are at full volume. For example we gave man utd and liverpool (Caroll in particular) a right drumming and the place was bouncing

Why not show that passion against Wigan Monday night?

  • 42 BelfastMagpie // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:28 PM

I would be shocked if they spent some wonga in January.

    Plus we’ve got our purple quota,so we’re ferked. 😉

  • 43 Super Magpie // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:29 PM

Neither do I, we can only hope.

    On tonight,
I expected to us to lose but not like that. We simply collapsed.
It was a much better performance than Southampton but not quite there yet. Our defence is so weak. Williamson was run ragged by Jones and Walters. For the 2nd goal Colo seemed to let Jerome go past him while Williamson was ‘attempting’ to win a header. Guti is simply not good enough either, he may win us free kicks but offers little else. We have to beat to Wigan next week or we are going to be in the bottom 3 by the new year.

I wonder if a record was set for most long balls in a match too? It was an awful game to watch.

  • 44 BelfastMagpie // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:30 PM

I would trade a few of our purple players for one gold one,if possible.

  • 45 Big Pappa Cissé // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:33 PM

Pardew has been here the best part of two years know and his style has been the same other than a 7 game spell in which we played decent stuff in a 4-3-3. Rodgers aint been at scumpool long and has far from the best players in the world but has them playing football on a whole other level than us.

At first I could accept this because Pardew inherited the team and when he signed the likes of Anita & Cabaye things started to look up and I expected to be watching some slick passing on the floor. Did I expect it straight away no, but for us to bypass the midfield completely numerous times in a game with long balls from the back 5 utterly bemuses me. It’s like Pardew wants to play a certain style but does not know how to implement it and I feel if there are no changes by Christmas someone like Jol or Martinez should take over and they could work wonders with the undoubted talent in our squad.

  • 46 Nufc-83 // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:37 PM

Having just seen it on motd i will take it on the chin we made 3 passes in their half even anitas was behind and perch done well to control it. Cisse goal is rubbish build up play at all Croftus. Santon and Colo completing a run and a pass is not an example of the so called good football at all.

  • 47 Jail for Ashley // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:38 PM

Can’t say I’m happy with Mashley as you know I’m not, but there’s no point in directing anger at him as he’s obviously too thick skinned and ignorant to those who matter, there is no way way he is going to sell up unless an outrageous bid comes in and in my prayers that might happen, Dastardly is the guy who apparently deals with that side of things and imo he failed miserably, he unlike Chris Mort has failed to bond with the fans and if anybody needs to ho it should be him..

  • 48 pedro // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:38 PM

Problem with people saying get Jol or Martinez is that we would have to pay a huge amount of compensation and then pay them a lot or promise cash to spend to get them on board. This won’t happen so there is no point in even suggesting this is a good course of action

  • 49 ToonDownSouth // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:39 PM

I agree, I’m just saying that it wouldn’t happen overnight nomatter what.

Aside from Pardew, we have coaches in Carver, Stone and Woodman who are all of similar mind to Pardew unfortunately, and who are also all on 8 year deals. So nothings changing.

As for Martinez or Jol, that’s pie in the sky stuff. They currently have clubs and would cost money to obtain. Then you have to convince them to join Newcastle, and work under MA and DL. No chance. Martinez has turned down Villa, Liverpool and Tottenham!

  • 50 Raztoonarmy // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:39 PM

Williamson is the worst defender ever

  • 51 BelfastMagpie // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:45 PM

Did Martinez not reject the pool job, because he wanted full control of transfers?

Doubt Whelan would let him work for Ashley anyway.

  • 52 BandB // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:48 PM

You have a fairly low-grade blog going on here. Your articles are largely aimed at generating hits by setting brothers against one another. I wish you’d concentrate more on moderating your own mission statement about the use of insulting and derogatory language, instead of leaving it to a word search to screen out the vulgarities. And I wish you’d stop using cod-hack terms like “plucky” and “youngster”. Someone said you are a fan. But you seem to be just another parasite.

  • 53 Big Pappa Cissé // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:53 PM

Don’t get me wrong I actually like Pardew as a person and want him to succeed, was he my first choice as manager, no but he has done a decent job with limited funds and backing. He just seems like someone set in his ways and so stubborn he is costing the team.

If I was manager the first thing I would do is tell the back 5 to stop lumping the ball down field and conceding posession, tell Ba that it is nothing personal but he will have to do another job on the left wing for the good of the team. Hardly rocket science yet I believe it would get us back on track and picking up points again.

  • 54 Jail for Ashley // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:55 PM

Get a new manager out of your heads it is’nt going to happen, unless something in that contract between a very select bunch of people gets made public, we will never know what the stipulations are, maybe like Moyes nearly relegation one season CL the next just don’t get relegated.

  • 55 APBWA // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:56 PM

Pardew should get to stay at least til the end of the season. Can you imagine ‘Fans sack Manager of the Season’? No, he deserves the chance to rectify his mistakes and enter the transfer window to fix the team. I think we will be about 14th by the end of the window, about 10th at the end of the season.
If Pardew achieves this he will not be sacked, however BA will leave, Hatem will leave, Cabs will leave, possibly Tiote. I will be gutted.

  • 56 Big Pappa Cissé // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:58 PM

    @ bandb

If it is so “low grade” then why do you bother posting ? But hey give me the name of you blog and I might check it out, Oh wait a second you don’t have one. Don’t take it out on Ed because NUFC lost

  • 57 ToonDownSouth // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:59 PM

I’m as pissed off as you are, don’t get me wrong. Unfortunately I just can’t see anything changing for a long long time.

As well as the obvious passing issue, our intensity is just terrible. It takes us so long to take every single throw in that every player is man marked and we lose the ball. Every throw should be taken instantly so the opposition doesn’t have time to relax and organise. Every free kick that’s not within shooting range should be taken short. Krul should be throwing the ball out to set up a counter instantly every time.

It’s just the little things like that that make me worry that Pardew hasn’t a clue what he’s doing. We’re not football experts, but we can all see these small things.

  • 58 Jail for Ashley // Nov 28, 2012 at 11:59 PM

    Band B,
Please direct your anger at Ian Toon, ED’s alright.

  • 59 NUFC STEVE // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:07 AM

    Next 3 games
Wigan – should be 3 points but they will more than likely pass us off the pitch ( Martinez compared to pardew).
Fulham – unlike pardew Jol is a good coach and will again dominate midfield pardew has conceded 8? In the last 2 games there.
Man city – Not a hope of getting anything
    = 7 LOSSES in a row
If this happens Big Mike WILL SACK PARDEW. A lot of people forget big Sam was his man and he shot him in the foot.

  • 60 NUFC STEVE // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:09 AM

Why did I say “shot him in the foot “??? All this pardew hatred is messin with my brain!!! Think I met stabbed him in the back???

  • 61 Toon_fan_in_Oz // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:10 AM

I agree with Online Guy in that Jonas should now be used as a full back. I’d play him left back with Santon on the right. Santon is one of our better players but can get himself into trouble cutting inside so moving him to right back would stop this. I’d drop Simpson as his crossing is very poor. We got punished tonight for a sloppy final 10 minutes. Team for Wigan:

    Is Jonas suspended?

  • 68 89Norcal // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:19 AM

Can’t find it in me to hang Pardew like some of the fans here. It’s a mix of poor tactics, AWFUL performances in those first 2 losses of this skid, and injuries.

Last year we had very few injuries and we’re in top form. It would be silly to sack Pardew right now unless we still play like this after January. We still signed just ONE senior player last season for a position we didn’t really need.

But if Pardew doesn’t scrub the 2 ST setup with the Dembas, I probably will call for him to go too.

  • 69 Big Pappa Cissé // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:19 AM

Right in front of me ?. All I see is words on a screen. Ed has worked hard on this blog and for you to call it low grade is not on. I can’t stand people that don’t like something, and then take pride in telling other people how much they dislike it. I dont like mushrooms but you don’t see me eating them and whining. Just keep your thoughts in your head unless they are constructive

  • 70 ToonDownSouth // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:19 AM

You think Mike Ashley would have the knowledge of football to find a continental manager? I can’t see that happening personally.

  • 71 Toonacious T // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:20 AM

NUFC Steve – lol. Agreed mate, don’t see a winnable game left in this calendar year except Wigan at home maybe coz their keeper, like ours atm, is going through a dodgey spell. Looking at Stokes goals, blame Willo for the first and Collo for the second. Time to buy players was inthe summer whem we could attract them with the carrot of finishing 5th and europa league, what is our USP now, come and join a team with zero style of football playing in a relegation dog fight?

  • 72 ToonDownSouth // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:21 AM

“I dont like mushrooms but you don’t see me eating them and whining.”

    Brilliant. Haha

  • 73 Schwefelberg // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:30 AM

And so we slide further to the relegation numbers.

Since Mr Asheley never explanined why he bought the club he cannot pass blamefor them that think his worst motive. Can he?

So he bought the club for a fast turn profit…. but didn’t know until too late that the Park was owned by the City!

Ha Ha! It would be funny except for the fact he has now turned the club into swine sh/t.

  • 74 nufc90 // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:31 AM

ToonDownSouth you’re probably right mate but never know, he liked the French market haha

  • 75 Big Pappa Cissé // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:33 AM

The only continental thing Ashley has an intrest in is the breakfast 🙂 , hold the mushrooms 😉

  • 76 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:39 AM

I really don’t see what getting rid of Llambias would do, other than fleetingly put a smile on peoples faces, knowing that such a swine is no longerassociated with our club. When it comes to function, he’s just a conduit for Cashley’s wishes and will have hardly any autonomy.

  • 77 ToonDownSouth // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:40 AM

Bielsa will be out of a job soon (Guardiola’s mentor). Oh how we could dream.

  • 78 Schwefelberg // Nov 29, 2012 at 12:42 AM

Ruddy I agree but he helped sell our sponsorship to a nasty business.

    Look up these bad boys!!
    Frank De Boer (unrealistic maybe?)
    Lucien Favre
    Jose poseiro
Also Martinez at Wigan would be a good shout.

  • 83 solano // Nov 29, 2012 at 1:12 AM

JFA @ 47….there’s no point in directing anger at Ashley? Though you recognise that he is ultimately responsible? Strange! You seem to want rid of Llambias just because he is an easier target but that wouldn’t deal with the crux of the problem.
If you don’t fight than you’ve lost…and Newcastle fans will get what they deserve if they witness a second relegation in 4 years and refuse to recognise they can influence policy and exact change instead of just handing over money upfront (in multi season tickets etc) and then moaning when the people who take their cash show nothing but contempt for them.
They will take the derogatory songs for another century but the power of money is the language they understand – doing nothing but waiting for a fairy godfather is ridiculous because many outsiders (possible buyers and suitors) are ignorant of the fact that most fans are sick of this shite and would like ambition and change for the better.

  • 84 Mister Tuff // Nov 29, 2012 at 1:27 AM

    My take on tonights game.
Result not acceptable but there was definitely more effort
by the players generally. Anita worked the hardest -he must have put some miles in chasing the opposition down -good attitude.
Downside – the usually suspects – Simpson and Williamson, I have no doubt Williamson tries his best but he is hopeless -never sees the runner, marks fresh air and does not attack the ball. Time and time again, match after match he displays the same faults. Problem is who would replace him currently.
Management were aware of this last season -hence the supposed quest to sign Douglas in the summer. Pardew wanted new players but Ashley and Dastardly failed him.
All the talk about a new manager amuses me – some candidates suggested are probably worse than Pardew -we would probably end up with another of Ashleys casino mates.
Pardew should be given the time to sort out the mess -certainly up to January.
I honestly believe that Ashley will sanction the purchase of several players in January -my only fear hear is that I hope Obertan does not have any relatives that play football.
If Ashley said that Mourinho was available I would say peddle Pardew immediately – but we all know a manager of that calibre is not coming to SJP.
Still worried though we are really in the mire.

  • 85 Novocastrian66 // Nov 29, 2012 at 1:30 AM

The situation is not yet desperate. Monday is a must win. The players characters will determine our fate. A lot of these players have tasted the bitter pill off relegation. They need to draw on that experience to prevent a repeat of that disaster.
The fans need to stay with the team and back them all the way.
I have witnessed three relegations and each time the fans have been on revolt.
Save the recriminations for the end of the season.

  • 86 Kyo // Nov 29, 2012 at 1:38 AM

I hope we get relegated so Ashley sells the club so we can finally start over without him.

He has been a poison to us ever since day 1.

Does your mouth bleed every 28 days?

  • 88 solano // Nov 29, 2012 at 2:07 AM

Novo…the fans gave everything to back the team in 2009 but it just wasn’t enough (or even relevant tbh). The cancer of relegation had spread because of managerial upheaval caused by MA, DL and DW. Fans’ protestations did not contribute to our downfall at all – conversely there probably wasn’t enough to have a real impact beacuse at the time of KK’s resignation and the Hull game we were hearing the same guff about ‘just backing the lads’ and forgetting about why we were in the stew in the first place.
As for the 88-89 relegation – how was that the fans’ fault? We were just plain shite. It’s our fans’ compliancy and acceptance of a sub standard product and policy that is a drawback, not their militancy! what other club would get the support we do without a trophy in 43 years?
The team will continue to be backed this year from the fans with everything they’ve got, but it becomes difficult when nothing is given in return. There seems to be a pervading sense that the fans cause the turmoil and perpetuate it – and nothing could be further from the truth.

Normally id sit here with my normal downbeat attitude as im sure most are doing upon reading this blog, however as much as i respect an opinion i feel some fellow bloggers need a influence of realism. I for one am by no means the pro ashley foundation but can both understand and respect his decision as an owner and a businessman. Time upon time posts and attitudes in this blog really grind my gears, as people fail to realise that as a club we a moving forward regardless of are current league position. As a passionate toon fan and avid football fan i find comments such as “i cant wait for ashley to sell the club” etc beyond believe, cleary demensia is something that most bloggers suffer as over the last few seasons i believe OUR football club has completely transformed, we are no longer thought as amongst the underachievers of the league instead fans and pundits alike are dumbfounded by our current league position, we as a football club and as a major brand name are regarded highly within any football country in the world, when seasons ago we were considered a relegation fighting team and even so far as promotion hopefulls. The season as a whole has not started greatly and now with injuries we find ourseleves in a term of crisis, now as a fan you either join the bandwagon on blaming the infurstucture of the club or come to the realisation that this is football. Bad patch or not i still myself tend to find the good points within our great football club and am optimistic the pards has both the man managemment skills and knowhow to promote us out this hole. Im in complete agreement that the squad needs strengthening but at the right price, also i have a feeling that come the end of january critisising bloggers with find themselves obsolete as im positive both our league position and squad will be transformered for the better regardless of our league position last season

Can i just say that everyone who is calling for pardews head is an embarrassment to this football club and knows noting about football. You want to relinquish your anger by forcing aggressive politics, be careful what u wish for

  • 91 JDdubai // Nov 29, 2012 at 4:21 AM

If we were losing but playing decent stuff or at least not sticking to crappy formations then I wouldnt be that bothered, what angers me the most is that he seems stubborn to keep with 442 and Cisse/Ba up front and Jonas LW etc etc when its painfully obvious it doesnt work….

There doesnt seem any attempt to get back to how we played at the end of last season and this isnt because of injuries, its been all season, in fact its from when he announced that he had agreed with Ba that he would play in the middle this season, thats when he forced his own hand into playing 2 up front…said at the time promising 1 player to get what he wants to the detriment of the team was suicide and its turning out that way sadly.

  • 94 Santon03 // Nov 29, 2012 at 5:56 AM

Even if we buy 10 more world class players wouldn’t make any difference, it will only make it more difficult to manage since AP can’t or won’t make difficult decisions. AP just want to please averyone, but that’s not his main job. Yes, happy players and fans make huge difference, but in order to make us fans happy and the players needed to win, not by talk only.
AP is not brave enough to make difficult decisions like dropping senior players, his tactics is just playing it safe.
I said it in my previous post that our current playmakers are Willo and Krul, everytime they had the ball they kick it long, when we had a free-kick inside our own half, guess who took it? Krul.
I’m betting that any managers (non-english) can turn things around with the same players we have now, because they are able to make difficult decissions, some personals may not be happy, but that’s life. One example : Delio Rossi, he will not take craps from the players 😛 .

AP must change or change the manager, because this is getting ugly. I remember reading Ed’s topic regarding “no need for tactics, it’s only down to players on pitch”, well this is the results of that.

  • 95 Santon03 // Nov 29, 2012 at 5:59 AM

This is what AP always say “there are positives that we can take from that game”, but the positives is only 10% and the 90% is negative. Instead correcting the 90% negative, he only took the 10% positive. That’s what makes me angry and hate AP.

  • 97 pedro // Nov 29, 2012 at 6:23 AM

Dont get me wrong I am not a fan of Willo by any stretch of the imagination (he’s well below par) but at times on here it seems that if you one of the “favourites” you become immune to criticism. Today has been a good example. Collocini was equally responsible for the winner but all you see is people talking about Willo not winning the header.
Anyway on to Wigan next, lets hope for 3 overdue points HWTL

I really do feel for the lads last night – it was not a great performance but at least there were fight.

…but after 70 min or so, still without a sub a think, fatigue was kicking in and we were not looking like we were going to create anything more.

I wonder were where the subs that was needed at that stage? They came after Stoke had scored two goals in 4 min 🙁

Maybe everything just didn’t go our way as some have said or maybe something just really isn’t as it seems?

Yes, you are right about responsibilities, but Willo and Krul always kicking the ball long instead passing to the other players.
Everytime the team trying to play passing game when those two have the ball, they kicked it long.

  • 102 check the toastie // Nov 29, 2012 at 6:50 AM

Dontblame Kul for kicking the ball long, if he was told by his manager not to do it he would stop. If he is told by his manager to kick it long he does, Pardews fault.

Willo is limited and scared of the ball, similar to Simpson, the hoofball is simply a refelcetion of these two lads ability, it is something i have come to terms with.

Hopefully Simpson will have signed for AC or Inter Milan soon 🙂

Still on 14 pts on Jan 01st
Got stuffed of Man City, Man. Utd and Aresenal
    Ashley decides we’re relegated
    So cuts his losses
Sells Cabaye, Santon, Krul, Papisse, Demba Ba, Bennie, Colocini, Tiote and Anita back to Ajax in the transfer widow.
    Buys nobody in
Pardew resigns cos got no funds to spend.
Asks Kinnear to manage again he refuses.
    Beardsley takes over reigns
Field the following team against Chelsea Feb 2
    Simpson, Williamson, Taylor, Ferguson,
    Perch, Bigi, Marvo, Jonas
and Sammi and Ranger up front – Shola injured again

One crumb of comfort for those who bought into The fat controllers 10 year season ticket wheeze.

Just to display your theory about stoke playing innumerably more long balls than us:

Stoke City total passes 366, long balls 54, long ball % = 14.8%

Newcastle United total passes 345, long balls 64, long ball % = 18.6%.

  • 124 Rotonda heights // Nov 29, 2012 at 8:43 AM

I think pardew was too hasty getting rid of routledge. I wouldn’t say obertan is necessarily an improvement.

I have been pardew’s fiercest critic but from what I saw last night wasn’t too bad to be fair. I missed the first half as it did sound like it was going to be the biggest borefest ever with the ball not staying on the ground.

In the 2nd half, however, I thought we looked a bit more
compact in midfield, especially the impressive Anita and had several breakaways with the Dembas.

Sadly for a big guy Willo can’t seem to get off the ground and Colo was badly beaten for the second! I would have thought playing a sweeper was a must against Stoke but hey ho it’s gone now.

In the absense of a Debuchy or a Douglas, I don’t really know how we can cover Willo any more. Maybe Perch?

  • 125 Transfer Sage // Nov 29, 2012 at 8:44 AM

    2 poor goals from routledge.

The first was kicked off him by a defender trying to clear it after routledge took a poor first touch.

The second he had Half a goal to aim at and he hit the keeper but squeezed in.

Most times he wouldn’t have gotten those goals so not really missing a lot. He’s no world beater but he is a damn site better than obertan is currently

  • 126 mattyNUFC // Nov 29, 2012 at 8:50 AM

talking about routeledge is a moot point. doesn’t serve anything. i always liked him and even at the time he was the only player we had who could beat a man.

    and rotonda

perch at CB, to me at least, was a no brainer. at least he can pass a ball for ffs but lo and behold, he’s now suspended for Wigan

  • 127 Santon03 // Nov 29, 2012 at 8:52 AM

Yup, we definitely need a sweeper. I love teams using sweeper or libero (352 or 343).
Perch is my candidate to be a sweeper or Colo.

  • 128 Rotonda heights // Nov 29, 2012 at 8:52 AM

You are right, it is the only way but people will never do it. Tbh Ashley has done some good things no doubt, but it’s fatal if you don’t know anything about football and just rely on your mates like Llambias who seems to know even less! You need a David Dein type.

I heard that Ambani had tried to buy us 3 times and he’s a NUFC fan and that we were the preferred option for the guys who bought city. So sadly the status quo is Ashley, Llambias, Pardew and a dodgy sponsor for the forseeable for a home crowd of 50,000+.

  • 129 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Nov 29, 2012 at 8:52 AM

    Morning chaps.

That was disappointing. Only caught the last 10 minutes or so – at least you lot got to enjoy Cisse scoring!

I don’t expect the style of play was dramatically better, but reading lots about imcreased fight, which at times like these is all you can ask for really. There obviously is something up, somewhere, so they need to show they can start digging and trying to turn it around. Tactics can be improved, but if the fight or determination isn’t there it will be useless at the end of the day.

BandB…..Nice to have you back. Saw you managed to fit in a little comment for Ed, classy job, it’s about time bucked up his ideas, giving us a free blog and his time so that we can share our thoughts on Newcastle united. You weren’t the only one though, but that’s not much of a saving grace.
