Don’t Play Ben Arfa At Bordeaux – Please

11:00 am, Friday, November 30th, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 13 Comments

It looks like Ben Arfa is about a week away from being fit again – and he could even be ready for the game at Bordeaux next Thursday night, but let’s not play him in that meaningless game – and let’s not forget he was injured against CS Maritimo in Europe, and it was a risk the Newcastle manager took with the Frenchman – and it didn’t pay off.

Ben Arfa - should be kept for Premier League

Newcastle have to realize that this Europa league is not important - as long as we are near the relegation zone –  and even if it means playing much weakened sides in the knock-out rounds in February – so be it..

That’s only if we are in a dog-fight for relegation come February – and certainly we hope that’s not the case.

Newcastle did great last season in finishing 5th and qualifying for Europe but it seems to have had a very negative impact on our small squad – and the most important thing this season is to stay in the Premier League – another relegation would be really devastating for the club.

And we have to think that Mike Ashley and Derek LLambias have seen how a small squad just cannot compete in Europe, and do well in the Premier League too.

Maybe the next time we are in Europe, they will spend some money and bring in some additional players to give the lads a chance of competing in both leagues – and even being successful in them.

But until that time comes – whenever that may be – the most important thing for Newcastle this season is the Premier League and staying in it.

And we need to keep Ben Arfa fit – so he can play in the Premier League – and help us to get some points on the board – that’s the main thing right now.

I think we would have only ever needed to play a stronger team if we were top of the group, as you said Ed seeing as we’re already through there’s no point.

Still wanna try and win though :)

    Jail

Has our hatred now passed to Llambias and not Ashley?

Thats how I see it, I think llambias thinks he is a good negotiator as he took liverpool for a ride, they were just as cluess as him so no great achievement.

He has failed to negotiate all summer….he didn’t get what we needed and didn’t go for the second/third choice targets Carr had.

    He is a total pratt.

I really don’t see how it was a risk playing HBA in Europe if that was the case then it’s a risk playing him anytime, how is he more likely to be injured against European opposition as opposed to say Stoke of the mackems.

right first thing first HBA needs a new contract with a clause of over 40 mill, cisse, ba should be sold we need attacking strikers not deep lying forwards on the other hand keep ba just in case, sell willo, obetan, no good for first team, loan out sammy no good for first team but might improve if on loan, bring in a young striker who is hungry and determine to make a mark for the toon and a very good defender for first team forget douglas we need some1 like DEDE from vasco, bring in debuche to strengthing our squad, change tactics to 4-3-1-2 because our main strength is through the middle not the flanks

and second get rid of all our coaches except from beardsley and carver them both are attacking coaches, even pardew must go hes an defensive coach not an attacking i would really prefer pard’s as an assistant for defensive purpose, bring in di mattoe or shearer for the role to press on the team not hold them back, if we dont do all this then i hate to say this but we might aswell consider us a championship team not a premier team

and for transfer market if pardew or the cockney mafia say they haven’t got money to spend (bollocks) newcastle have made profit over the 30 mill mark since the start of the season whilst other teams are well under the net gross between 15-40 mill meaning the other teams will have to sell to buy players.

things we should have done is bought debuche, zonzi, douglas and get that canadian lad from blackburn and also de jong, it bugs me we didnt get de jong for 12 mill, instead they tried to bring carrol back between 15-16 mill wheres the business in that?

I think by now the Newcastle heirarchy has realized that a famous football club can’t be run on whimsicalities and cripple mentalities in regards to enhancing the squad. Instead of consolidating on last season’s 5th place finish they gambled on buying just 1 first team player. If still the owner doesn’t opens up his cheque book in january i fear come february we could be in a serious battle of saving our premier league status.

The articles on here get more ridiculous by the day!

    @Transfer Sage
I am having a go at DL at the moment because of the current lack of investment, and also due the on going Demba Ba buy out clause.
Surely it was not Pardew or Carr who agreed to that £7m clause as I expect only DL could sign on the dotted line on behalf of NUFC. This should have been sorted out a loooong time ago!
Is it possible that DL failed to get the message across to MA in the summer about what the toon needed in players? Is that too fanciful?
