Newcastle have been linked with Toulouse and French International central midfielder Moussa Sissoko for over two months now, and we have to hope that he is a real target of Newcastle United, and that we can get him through the door in January.
Moussa Sissoko – hands up if you want to join Newcastle
With Yohan Cabaye, Haris Vuckic and Dan Gosling all out injured for some months, we don’t have much choice in central midfield and currently Cheick Tiote and Vurnon Anita are doing that job, but Cheick goes off to the African Cup of nations (AFCON) again in January.
So it would make a lot of sense if the Magpies can get this lad in early in the January transfer window, and it seems he could become a bargain buy because his contract at Toulouse is up next summer, when he can leave as a free agent.
Sissoko has played almost 200 times for the French club with 23 goals since making his debut back in August of 2007, as a 17 year-old, and he had this to say about Newcastle some weeks ago:
“To play in the Premier League would be a dream come true. It is a fantastic league and I enjoy watching it.” “Newcastle are a fantastic team and would be attractive to any player. I am no different.”
Of course that comment was made before Newcastle have gone into a terrible slump over the last three weeks, but we still hope that Newcastle are negotiating a deal with Toulouse to bring this 6’2? central midfielder to Newcastle, and he can play in either the attacking or holding role in central midfield.
We need some new players at Newcastle in January, and this lad would be a terrific buy for the Magpies – and it will give us some sense of what Mike Ashley’s ambitions are for Newcastle.
Surely he doesn’t want to have to go through another relegation fight this season – we don’t.
