Newcastle Midfielder – We Will End Bad Run Quickly

8:05 am, Sunday, December 2nd, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 14 Comments

Newcastle’s Argentinian midfielder Jonas Gutierrez, who is now 29, was part of the squad when Newcastle were relegated in May of 2009, in his first season on Tyneside, and he has talked today about how injuries four years ago also badly affected that Newcastle side.

Jonas Gutierrez – we will end bad run quickly

And the news around Newcastle over the last week is that there’s a possibility we’ll be in another relegation dog-fight this season, and that’s so surprising given that we finished 5th last season, and are in the Europa League this season for the first time since the 2006-2007 season.

But the 22 times capped Argentine International doesn’t believe Newcastle will be near the bottom of the table for long figured in the losing run four years ago. But when asked about the chances of another relegation battle, he insisted:

“No. I believe in the squad and the team. We’re going to end this run quickly.” “The players are together. The year we got relegated we had a big squad with big players but a lot of injuries as well.

“This time we don’t have as big a squad but we have young players who have a big opportunity and maybe we have a better team spirit than 2008.’’

It will help that Newcastle still have players like Fab Coloccini and Jonas in the side that took the drop four years ago, and that experience can help the club this season, to start pulling away from the lower reaches of the league.

We hope that will happen, and we hope it will happen soon.

Just 1 win on Monday can turn our fortunes, but unfortunately we have to call upon our youngsters before they are ready.

January should be Nile Ranger’s golden opportunity to redeem himself.

    Repost

For Ppl talking about Ashley selling NUFC.

The last time he tried the price was not the problem, the problem was the Debt that potential buyers also had to buy, on top of the selling price.

Ashley is filling up his pockets, but the DEBT is not at all decreasing, you say its interest free loan but the money Ashley is making Transfer window after transfer window is the interest.

When he decides to sell, he would want his debts paid off, which i don’t think any one would do.

Its a win win for ashley, he is going to make money of NUFC, capital if if sells up and operating YOY.

    Indian Magpie,
That’s the 3rd time I’ve had to read that, do you have to keep forcing your views on others

Indian- good morning. Please give it a rest. Concentrate on the Wigan match and a return to winning ways. You know us getting 3 points.
That will make you and all the fans feel a whole lot better. Rather than creating a lot of negativity.

    sorry, Alan.

but you should not have read 2nd and 3rd time, having read it once.

Ed keeps churning them out so quickly, i thought it could get lost.

So read the article about ba and tbf he should go in january
He should go somewhere where he gets the level of support he deserves of the fans cos he sure doesnt get it here!
Nowhere does eds article say or link to anywhere where he’s asking for 90k a week at all
Last season he got pushed out wide a majority of the fickle fans were saying flog him he’s not scoring (forgetting the 16 goals that fired us into contention for europe)
This season fires in 8 goals and the same fans want him sold? Like its his fault pards plays 442? Dont buy that at all
The poor bloke seems in a lose lose situation here!
And the same ppl want andy carroll back? Did he get 8 goals since he left the toon never mind this season (he’s got 1 this season btw and thats in a team playing exactly to his strengths) and seems like an injury prone has been at the age of 23

“This time we don’t have as big a squad but we have young players who have a big opportunity and maybe we have a better team spirit than 2008.’’

I think he’s wrong. Our current squad is bigger and better than it was in the 2008-09 season:

    2008-09 Current

    Given Krul
    Harper Harper
    Forster Elliot

    Beye Simpson
    Bassong Perch
    Coloccini Coloccini
    S Taylor S Taylor
    Cacapa Williamson
    Enrique Santon
    Edgar Tavernier
    Kadar Good
    ? Dummett
    ? Streete

    Geremi Anita
    Butt Bigirimana
    Smith Tiote
    Duff Marveaux
    Nolan Cabaye
    Barton Ben Arfa
    Guthrie Amalfitano
    Jonas Jonas
    Nzogbia/R Taylor* R Taylor
    ‘Nacho’ Gonzalez Gosling
    ? Obertan
    ? Vu?ki?
    ? Abeid
    ? Brad Inman

    Owen Ba
    Martins Cisse
    Viduka Shola
    Shola Sammy
    Carroll Campbell
    Lovenkrands Ferguson
    Ranger Ranger
    Xisco Xisco

*part-exchange deal – Zog out Taylor in

Wewill have to Dig Deep On Monday Night . Th ePlayers owe it to The Fans to Get a Win and show they are not relegation Contenders. Look at Birmingham Won the Cup Then the Europa Cup and Relegated that season. Sod that. Injury Wise we need some Luck on our side as we have had sod all this season. I would say it will be 3-1 .. Shola Will come on in the 80th and get the winner !!!!!

  • 12 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Dec 2, 2012 at 9:53 AM

The biggest problem the team has had in the last couple of months is confidence or lack of it !

One or two wins will maybe silence the doom merchants on here, you all know who i mean, six points wil set us back on the right track. Some will say i,m stating the obvious but 6 points from a possible 27 is relegation form and if our present form continues then we will be in the Shit come 1st February, even if we sign a Messi or Torres or Joe Bloggs or whoever because one or two signing don,t make a Team!

Jonas is in some ways, correct, all the injuries and suspensions, have not helped us, not that that is or can be an excuse. We are two points off the relegation places and something needs to be done quick!

All the shite being written on here is,nt helping our cause either. We just need to support the lads the same way we always have, and we can start that with a win on Monday!

    HWTL !

Don’t fancy us on Monday, tbh don’t want Jonas playing not the same player anymore and I think his time has come as a first team player 1-3 Wigan Kone to score all 3

    TADS
Agree with ya totally-fickle fans man
Cheer on the team, cheer on BA as without him again this year we’d be nowhere
    Jonas,get the finger out.
Just put in some fight as a team as if ye care about winning and it’ll happen.
