Ba Speaks – Completely Unaffected By Transfer Talk

5:12 pm, Tuesday, December 4th, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 200 Comments

Demba Ba was again in good form last night and scored another brace – his third brace of the season, in Newcastle’s vital 3-0 defeat of Wigan, and this lad has been an enormous success since he joined us from West Ham in the summer of last year.

Demba Ba – after scoring penalty last night

With 16 goals in 36 appearances last season in his first season on Tyneside, he is currently top of the charts this season, and is tied on 10 PL goals with Michu of Swansea, Suarez of Liverpool and van Persie of Manchester United.

Ba talked to nufcTV today and is only concentrating on doing his job:

“It’s not too bad so far, 10 goals in I don’t know how many games.” “I will just keep on doing my work and if it comes, it comes; if it doesn’t, it doesn’t matter as long as we win.””All I know is what we proved on the pitch last night, what we did on Wednesday as well.”

“We have shown people that we still have the spirit and we still want to win and go forward.” “It was very good, it was very good to win after these last weeks. Now we just have to keep our heads down and keep working and keep doing what we did last night.”

Note to Demba Ba – you have played 17 times for Newcastle this season for those 10 goals – just fantastic.

Of course there have been many reports about Ba’s release clause becoming active again in January, but we are still hoping Newcastle can do a deal before then.

And of course Ba is doing exactly the right thing by banging in those goals to get a contract along the lines of what Newcastle gave captain Coloccini earlier this year – and that’s what Ba wants.

He’s a great player and a good man is Demba Ba – and we’d love him to stay on Tyneside, and he seems completely unaffected by all the transfer talk in the papers about him.

Comments always welcome.

Sitting on a wreath of holly at his next board meeting is too good for Ashley.

  • 2 Big Pappa Cissé // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:18 PM

Really Love the bloke and hope he stays. Probably the best striker we have had since Shearer goals wise

  • 3 Tsunki // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:25 PM

if that lad who is going to the Q&A is still on, I would like to know if anyone has actually taken up the half price food & drink offer before the match and actually sat in the ground for an hour before kick off.

    My favourite players:
    1/ Ba
    2/ Tiote and Ben Arfa
    3/ Cabaye
    4/ Santon
    5/ Bigirimana(just cuz he’s awesome!!)

  • 5 Graeme // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:29 PM

Just assume, that like last window, his parasites, sorry, agents, are still looking for a pay day!!

Ba is no mug, he knows he is worth an awful lot more than NUFC are paying him and I’m sure NUFC are well aware of it as well. At some point I’m sure a deal will be done, but it will be at a figure much nearer his valuation than Lambsarse’ valuation.

Ba is joint top scorer in the league, he has pretty much proved the dodgy knee is a hell of a lot stronger than suggested. If he was on the open market, he would go for £10 million plus and at least £75k a week. How much are top scorers fetching at other clubs?? A lot more than Ba is allegedly being offered to stay I guess!!

Now we know why the Toon players have until recently not been running/chasing down the opposotion and not giving 110% energy. Link:-

Conaldo – on the MC Hammer conundrum, it’s not MC himself its something he calls ‘this’ but for some reason he doesnt tell us what ‘this’ is. How frustrating can he be? Hope that clears that misunderstanding up.

  • 10 Tsunki // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:33 PM

I always thought of the balti pie in a bushtucker trial sort of way.

  • 11 Catchy In Straight Jacket // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:35 PM

Considering Van Persie, Tevez, Aguero, Rooney etc are all earning about a 100 thousand a week more than Ba gets. I think we should give him the pay rise.

  • 12 Jail for Ashley // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:35 PM

Ba is being selfish and greedy if he expects the going rate for a leading scorer !

  • 13 wreker16 // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:36 PM

    I believe that’s six magpies till death…

  • 14 Tsunki // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:39 PM

Ba was happy with the offer he got when he joined us. Maybe we should see out the season with him and let him go where he wants, after all we may give him a pay rise and he could still move. I dont think anyone will be paid more than colo tbh, and thats not 90k/week.

  • 15 GeordieTwo // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:40 PM

Spot on Graeme @5. Demba knows his value to the team and his quality as a goal scorer even if Ash/Llam don’t. He will not be taken for a fool by those 2. Why should he stay with us for 40K a week when Colo makes at least 75K a week? He is equally as important. Why do we always end up with knobs in charge of the club?

  • 16 jimiley // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:40 PM

I cannot see Ba leaving the Toon in January. He has always said he loves the place, so why would he want to go anywhere else. Cashers will not sell him for 7 million, so he stays as long as the player wants to stay. Why would he want to go to Liverpool (who do not want Carroll but would consider it sweet revenge to get Ba for a total bargain) or Arsenal. Two clubs who are in freefall. They offer nothing more than the Toon. Ba is staying. But if manure or Chelski or City or Madrid or Barca…..different matter. He’d be gone in a flash, even if he does love the Toon.

  • 17 Tsunki // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:43 PM

dont think colo gets 75k either….

  • 18 Ian Toon // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:44 PM

Fair comment. Ba is the first Toon player to score 10 or more PL
goals in consecutive seasons since Shearer. He did it in 2001-02,
2002-03 and 2003-04. As I said in my first post Ba was instrumental in our victory and MOM for me. No question we should renegotiate his contract and sooner rather than later. More movement off the ball from the likes of Anita and Marveaux opened up space for Ba and Cisse. With HBA soon to return as well we could become a real attacking force.

  • 19 Novocastrian66 // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:44 PM

Ba performances have not been affected by the transfer speculation and that is to his credit.
Hopefully he will stay as he would leave a big hole on our team.

  • 20 Catchy In Straight Jacket // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:47 PM

Think he’ll go were ever the money is, though i hope we can keep hold of him. At least until the summer anyway.

  • 21 Jail for Ashley // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:48 PM

    Jmiley,
Whatever we may think of other teams demise,a 40K a week wage rise pulls a lot of strings, that is evident in the players that opted to play in front of 15 000 fans at Loftus road.

  • 22 Tsunki // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:48 PM

hasnt this happened in every TW since he joined? load of guff about nowt isnt it in the end? Personally i hope he stays, and if the club thinks he is worth a raise then fine, but if he demands more than morale and the club can bear then he wont be the first or last decent striker to move on, and we somehow manage to find another. I personally think Cisse will be revived if he did leave so I wouldnt panic if he’s angling for a move.

  • 23 Tsunki // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:51 PM

JfA – just a slight adjustment to your text – said players have hardly ‘played’ in front of the qpr faithful have they? ;)

I am still not sure on Ba the Journeyman idea.

  • 24 GeordieTwo // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:51 PM

Anyone who thinks Ba will stay with us and take a 40 or 50K a week haircut for the privilege is probably fooling themself because they love the club. An athlete’s career is very short. Ba does have knee problems which might make it even shorter. He will not stay on a low wage because Ashley wants to cheat him of a fair wage nor would I expect him to.

  • 25 Dannyo // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:52 PM

    First off:

    - None of you know what Ba makes
    - None of you know what Ba is asking
    - None of you know what Collo makes

Altho we make allot of our discussions based on assumptions, rumours and wishfull thinking, calling people knobs cause you think you are assuming right….
Well, that just goes for itself.
Everyone has their limit economically. Would you want Ba’s new wage to be so high we may have to downsize potential additions to the squad? Because we could maybe cross a financial line?

And don’t throw that “MA can spend what he wants” bull. Everything and everyone has its limits, we have ours and we simply have to abide by that.

  • 26 Magpies-till-d3ath // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:53 PM

  • 28 mackas7 // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:56 PM

Pardew and Lambais giving the answers 1st question is about last seasons finish and lack of strengthening, only 1st teamed being Anita, saying Anita deal took up until the last week, took them a long time to tie up the deal, suffering with injuries can’t get away from critisism on that front, 2nd about formation, why haven’t we stuck with the 4-3-3 as it work and the impact on Ba’s happiness, Pardew: all about balance, ba asked to do a job didn’t like it, tried different systems, ba situation is hanging over us, being as concise as I can here with as much detail.

  • 29 mackas7 // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:57 PM

Plans to purchase is January, we have a budget we have targets, these targets are long term targets.

  • 30 89Norcal // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:57 PM

Saw this tweet from Ba the other day after the salary news:

    Dec 2
    Demba Ba ?@dembabafoot
    “Here we go again…..”

lol just tell your agents to keep their mouths shut, Demba!

I want Ba to stay especially now that him and Cisse are actually playing together now, but if he does go I wouldn’t mind too much since Cisse can be our sole striker again

  • 31 GeordieTwo // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:59 PM

I think we do know that Ba is making far less with us than he would elsewhere now. I think the point still stands, he won’t stay if it is financially ridiculous to do so. So it will be up to Ash/Llam to make him an offer that makes sense to him. This will be the crux of the matter, not love of city or team I’m afraid. Love doesn’t buy too many groceries.

  • 32 mackas7 // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:59 PM

These are prepared questions by Michael Douglas who I assume is MSIDOuglas on twitter?

  • 33 Jail for Ashley // Dec 4, 2012 at 5:59 PM

    mackas7,
What time is it starting ?
I went to the KK dinner last year and thought I would get a chance to ask him a question or two, there was about 1200 people there and the crowd got to ask two questions and they were sitting right next to the stage.

  • 34 Ian Toon // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:00 PM

Dannyo- I wasn’t making any assumptions at all. Goalscorers like Ba are worth breaking imposed limits for simply because they win you matches. If you have to cut your cloth according to your means then
we need to consider the options. For me providing we buy the long awaited full back and centre half I would be looking to secure Ba on a new contract. You don’t relinquish firepower without suffering. Look no further than Arsenal and Man U and Van Persie.

  • 35 Offkey // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:02 PM

He also tweeted about liking the ‘dont sell Cabaye’ chant, Im a bit cynical and it crossed my mind (only for a second) that he may have wanted a ‘dont sell ba’ chant ring round St James to leverage his position……

  • 36 Ginger // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:09 PM

I really don’t get the whole Ba situation, surely this seems to happen every transfer window with his agents linking him to other clubs… So why doesn’t he just fire them and get new ones?

    Or am I missing something?

  • 37 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:12 PM

With Ba having a degenerative knee he would be a gamble for any club at 90k a week.

…regardless of what w thinh the club should pay I can understand why Newcastle are hesitant since I cannot see any insurance company wanting to touch him!

And you can’t really say Ba is worth that much just because someone is silly enough to pay the likes of RVP or Tevez huge money; it doesn’t work that way :-)

  • 38 ONLINE GUY // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:13 PM

Marvo starting last night was the right way to go ..I think he will go well from now on ..He is a very good player.

I wrote over a week ago how he can get into the box and have a pop or draw the foul..causes havoc in the minds of defenders ..It worked well last night .

Also we have another really good player in Anita ..Work rate and skill ..Brilliant player , A great find .

We really need an animal of a centerback in January ..We need the real deal, not potential.

Danny Simpson done a job last night. He was OK, Just done his job the way you would expect ‘

Mike Williamson was all at sea a few times ,,but a slight improvement on the usual game he plays , Pardew has no choice but to play him ,,he is not Prem league standard at all ..Williamson probably actually know this..
Its frightning to watch him on the ball or trying to defend, I tend to look away when he receives the ball or try’s to defend ,he is often rooted to the spot !..Shame really. He is out of his depth..Probably a decent bloke too . We have lost a few/lot of games because of him . Other clubs do their homework and know his limitations ..

I hope he can improve ..Give him a chance ..But ….

Alderwield only please in January ..He is Brilliant ..Reminds me of Colin Todd, he was a world class player.

It will be difficult to sign him though, Champions League and all that ..

  • 39 Novocastrian66 // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:16 PM

Ginger. Ba wants it known that he is available. If a substantial pay rise comes his way he will be off, or it is a means of securing a pay rise at Newcastle.
I think Pardew has been very candid on the situation also.

  • 40 Catchy In Straight Jacket // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:16 PM

It would be quite easy to put a clause in there. If Ba’s knee f**** up, we have the option to release him. It’s not going to be cheap to replace him, that’s for sure.

  • 41 obatoyou // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:17 PM

How much is 50K a week more? It’s like 2 million a year, man, if he was gonna leave, he’d be like a new signing

new signing at 2 mil who can score 20 goals a season, boy snap him up

    new signing man, can’t wait

  • 42 Jail for Ashley // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:17 PM

    Ginger,
I don’t think any body is innocent in this affair,we have put a clause in because of his knee, they (his agents) have put clauses in because of our clauses,he won’t get rid of them because although they’re looking after they’re own interests he (Ba) stands to gain financially if they engineer a move or a pay rise.

  • 43 wreker16 // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:19 PM

    Lol the rage

  • 44 Catchy In Straight Jacket // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:22 PM

Willamson probably cant believe he’s getting a game in the premiership. He looks like somebody has handcuffed his feet together. Bramble flashbacks everytime i watch him.

  • 45 Ian Toon // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:24 PM

Why wouldn’t Ba and his Agents seek to leverage his position.? His representatives only earn commission when he moves on or the existing contract is renegotiated. The club would gain by removing the release clause or raising the bid release sum above it’s existing level. His Agent’s are testing the interest of other clubs. We need to act sooner rather than later to retain control of negotiations. Ba has fully justified an improved contract. Ba’s declaration of love for the club should also be tested.

  • 46 Jail for Ashley // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:24 PM

I’ve always tried to defend Williamson but that air dive as he tried to clear a cross last night was pitiful and embarrassing to watch.

  • 47 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:27 PM

Williamson should go out on loan to Gateshead. If he continues to make silly errors there, he should consider playing pub league football.

  • 48 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:27 PM

No worse than when colo lost his head after about 15 mins and started running in circles before being rescued by simmo!!

  • 49 Catchy In Straight Jacket // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:29 PM

He must be the only centre back in football that causes more problems for his own team, than the other team on corners lol

  • 50 Ian Toon // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:30 PM

Phil Brown on radio 5 last night apparently said Williamson was one of the best defenders in the Premiership. He’s always been a good judge of a player!!!
Agree with positive comments on Simpson. He played well.

  • 51 Dannyo // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:31 PM

    @Ian Toon
Tbh, i didn’t notice you had a post that correspondet with what i said, i read through a couple of others here.
    Checked yours now tho ;)
Now, i realise that there are risks in the Ba dealings. What do we lose if he goes and what can we gain in return.
Arsenal is a good example indeed.
At the same time, love him or loathe him, Ba has often shown a selfish side in his game.
And things like that usually portray his character off the pitch. Ba is a selfish player, look how he went about it when playing on the left side. Obvious selfish reasons for his attitude at the time imo. Also impacted by his own lack of goals ofc.

I’m just saying this, if Ba left, it might not make us weaker mate. I’m not saying we’d be stronger, but I personally do not think we’d be weaker.
I think Cisse would come to the fore. And i think we’d add a different striker entirly.

  • 52 Kris Kross // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:35 PM

its a tricky one, once he signs a big price of a contract he may quiet down and fizzle out. the good thing he is playing to be seen at the moment and we cant rush into something, but if a big club comes again exactly like the Carroll situation get him sold. As long as you replace him and more

  • 53 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:36 PM

That’s why Phil Brown hasn’t got a job haha.

  • 54 ONLINE GUY // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:37 PM

Few times against Wigan Ba Had the chance to put Cisse in on goal but decides to go himself and messes up . A few selfish decisions from him ..cant Knock his goals though .

The perfect player to go alongside Cisse if Ba jumps ship is … Shane Long .

He will be tempted by one of the so called bigger clubs / money clubs soon.

BA plays football but he is not a Footballer in the mode of Shane long IE: Great feet ..pace..and an unselfish attitude, Long can also see a pass and create. He is a nightmare to play against ..A real neat complete player .

.Shane long has it all ..

  • 55 Tsunki // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:38 PM

Magpies-till-d3ath – to be fair to wreker mate, technically when you nominate a joint position, the next one no longer exists and you have to iterate to the next number. So your example should have read:-

    1/ Ba
    2/ Tiote and Ben Arfa
    4/ Cabaye
    5/ Santon
    6/ Bigirimana(just cuz he’s awesome!!)

If you are going to insult someone for an observation, being right helps a lot. :)

  • 56 mackas7 // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:39 PM

@jail it’s just finished both myself and my dad have had the opportunity to ask 2 questions each.

  • 57 Ian Toon // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:40 PM

Dannyo- sorry mate I think we’re going to have to disagree on this one.
I love selfish strikers. Shearer being the most selfish. By any goal scoring measure Ba has kept his side of the deal. Bringing in any new player is a risk, we have a fully functioning leading top draw striker.
Cisse is a natural goalscorer but the top sides have more than one. Also if you take Ba out of the equation opposition defenders can focus on Cisse. He was lethal on joining in part because of Ba’s presence.
Of course we could restructure if Ba goes but it would not be my preferred option. I suspect it’s not Pards either.

  • 58 toonLYF // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:41 PM

    for me…

    1. Ben Arfa
    2. Tim Krul
    3. Yohan Cabaye
    4. Papiss Cisse
    5. Davide Santon

Bigi and Colo would be next favourites.

  • 59 MUTINYbyLEMONS // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:42 PM

Sure Ba leaving would make us weaker unless we replaced him with an equally good striker. Ba scores lots of goals and that’s hard to find. Ehat happens if Cisse is injured, who would play? Shola Ameobi?

  • 60 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:43 PM

    @Online Guy
What we need is a lay up guy. Sort of how Best worked for Ba.
Doesn’t have to be amazingly good really, but i think Shane Long is an excellent type of that kind of player.
It’s difficult to explain the role, but again, an unselfish player, with pace mind, who can score ofc, but is equally good at seizing the right oppertunities infront of goal.

  • 64 ONLINE GUY // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:45 PM

    Shane Long, anyone?

  • 65 mackas7 // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:46 PM

My questions were directed at brigton away, and the priority of the FA cup about fielding a strong team, to which my reply was nothing would please me more than getting revenge, I’ve been very unlucky as a manager in the FA cup, my other question was, in my opinion we played some of our best football this season last night, however, prior to this performance we have seen a lot of balls lumped forward in an almost hit and hope fashion, from a managers point of view could you tell us what makes the difference in these performances.

  • 66 toonLYF // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:47 PM

If Ba was to go, Remy would be the obvious affordable and realistic replacement for me. Best suited to a LF role, he’d be more than happy to play out wide, and is in somewhat of a similar mold to Ba by means of being a powerful driving striker. His goalscoring record hasn’t been great recently due to a few injuries, but he’s a big talent, and that’s there for everyone to see.

    ——Cabaye—Tiote—Anita——

    Ben Arfa——-Cisse———Remy

    looks so exciting.

  • 67 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:48 PM

    Online guy
Demba linked up with midfield and cisse well last night and was clever about when he passed it the times he didnt pass 9/10 was because cisse was offside

Dannyo we already have that in arfa and marv if ba goes we need a goal scorer and shane long is hardly prolific

  • 68 wreker16 // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:49 PM

    Tsunki

Thank you, also it was a casual remark not a full out attack, calm down dear ;)

On another note, Ba deserves a contract, he’s scored goals which is the job of a striker, he is selfish but as someone pointed out, shearer was selfish and its a trait found in most strikers and also the most glaringly obvious chance he ha to pass to cisse… HE DID!! Only to find out cisse was offside (muppet). Shane long would be a great addition though :)

  • 69 mackas7 // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:49 PM

To which my reply was, sometimes teams set up to make others look bad eg west ham, pardew explained that someone had in fact been at the training ground and informed alladyce of their team, he said there is no excuse however for lack of perfomamces but that confidence plays a massive factor

  • 70 Dannyo // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:49 PM

    @Ian Toon
Ba is a top player, i don’t think anyone in their right mind can argue that, and i’m not either.
I’m just saying, do you please the best striker in your squad for the sake of the team or do you please the team for the sake of the striker?
I’m not saying that this is the case, but one cannot avoid the signals being sent from the players and the camp on this matter.

Why does AP go from a 4-3-3 that works to a 4-4-2 that doesn’t? The players AP brings in, the way he wants to control the midfield, it all contradicts how our season is going. Or am i wrong?

I think AP wants to keep Ba too, no doubt, but how far will they go to accomodate him? I think there’s a balance here, one we might not get right.

  • 71 ONLINE GUY // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:49 PM

    Dannyo

Shane Long seems perfect In every aspect ..I imagined the way the play was going last night against Wigan that Long could hold the ball up but also release that telling pass at exactly the right time into the box ..That’s what we are lacking, that final killer pass that cut’s a defence
in 2 ..Shane Long ..Perfect for all occasions.. Methinks, Danny.

    tads,
I can’t remember that, well pleased with the result though, wasn’t the best performance but hopefully it will have provided a much needed needed confidence boost,as for January transfers hopefully the 44K attendance last night will have shown Mashley that we expect him to spend a few quid as well.

  • 76 Dannyo // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:54 PM

    @tads
No, i wasn’t thinking of him as a replacement for Ba, far from it.
    More like the 3rd/4th striker.
Cisse and Ba, does not work, but there are plenty of games through a season for them to play.
I just want one that works with Ba, and i think Shane is that type of player. Marveux and HBA are not strikers.

  • 77 Ian Toon // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:55 PM

Dannyo- We spoilt Shearer rotten. And he was well worth it. Arsenal offered Van Persie a fortune to stay( apparently) but he wanted to win things. What is Ba’s motivation? Remember he’s a Muslim .

  • 78 ONLINE GUY // Dec 4, 2012 at 6:58 PM

    Toonarmydoonsouth

Your right ..A few times Ba held the play up and could not release to Cisse..Wonder does Cisse know the offside rule ! hhaha He was off loads of times ..Suppose that’s the way he plays Just level with the defender ..but gets caught out when they step up. It’s a hard game

NO easy games at all in the prem.. more so than ever now.

  • 81 Dannyo // Dec 4, 2012 at 7:04 PM

    @Ian Toon
I can’t compare Shearer to Ba mate, Shearer is a whole different type of legend for us, and i’d give him my arm to have him play two more years before he retired.
We might have spoilt him, but he was worth it, and i would give it a fair crack and say he didn’t spoil a teams setup for any manager.

I also said to him he should sign Dave Beasant the Wimbledon Keeper, and one other player I cant recall, Iam McFaul Signed all three! ..We nearly got relegated and John Robertson played only a handful of games and was banished to the reserves..Still don’t know why Robertson started playing poorly . Mystified.

  • 88 Ian Toon // Dec 4, 2012 at 7:12 PM

Dannyo – Looking at the current composition of the side we should look to keep Ba. The suggestion of signing Shane Long to play with him is sound. We nearly signed him when he was @ Reading but were put off by £5 million fee quoted. Why would WBA sell him! I am not suggesting Ba is in the same class as Shearer at his peak. I personally think that claims of Ba causing disruption is much exaggerated .

Cisse plays on the shoulder of the last defender as he was doing last night.

But the problem we had/have at the moment is we tend to have one touch to many on the ball, and by the time the pass has been made Cisse, has made his move.

@jail, believe this if you wish, but my dads question was about Pardews contract (will try and explain in detail tomorrow) to which Pardews response was I think that question is ‘a f*****g insult
‘ and lambias ended the questions there, and came over to tell my dD he was out of order, needless to say the guy isn’t a particularly nice guy and was not willing to listen at all, which I suspect most of you bloggers had already guessed, hope I’ve gave you all some food for thought. And hope my memory serves me well tomorrow. Also thanks for the appreciation, my info could have been better but didn’t want to be sat in front of the management/coaching staff and moncur (he was taking questions) on my phone ;p!

But basically my dad asked a question regarding pards contract, saying yep all for stability etc, but what if it goes t*ts up, is there a clause that’s says we ain’t happy as fans on your bike pards (slightly better worded), to which pardew replied that’s a f**king insult, lambais ended the questions there, lambias then came over to our table to say the question was out of order

  • 103 Dannyo // Dec 4, 2012 at 7:36 PM

  • 106 mackas7 // Dec 4, 2012 at 7:44 PM

@dannyo, they both spoke about the chronicle and how they aren’t great fans of the tabloids, because the papers had alledgedy published our line up for west ham (so what?!) and that they’ve also just hired a communications adviser (or something) from the USA, and initially they wanted to sort out underlying thing and get it out the way before releasing info, as my dads other question (which he stole off me) was related to communication between the club and the fans and how tonight is productive but why can’t it be a quaterly occurrence for example e.g. Are we as a club on target?

  • 107 Dannyo // Dec 4, 2012 at 7:44 PM

    Cheers for that :)
And one has to agree, a bit too forward that question, lol.
No one of us really does have any business enquiring about other peoples job contracts.
So i can honestly understand the reaction to the question, altho i it could perhaps have been avoided prettier ;)

I will scoure the blog for your retell of the Q&A tomorrow :)
Cheers for the info for now tho ;)

  • 108 mackas7 // Dec 4, 2012 at 7:48 PM

Agreed dannyo but I do think pards could have been slightly more tactful with his answers, the fact he reacted in such a way leads me to believe the question touched a nerve?

  • 109 Ian Toon // Dec 4, 2012 at 7:50 PM

mackas7- communication is a two way process. If that last question was a measure of the tactful way you posed your questions it’s not surprising it was the last.

  • 110 Dannyo // Dec 4, 2012 at 7:50 PM

    @mackas7
Well, maybe the question was not too far from the truth.
And it’s hardly the best way for AP and DL to end a Q&A asawell. Altho the question might be too direct, there’s a much better way to sidestep it.
    They are pros after all.

At the same time, maybe it does show that DL does have APs back more than we think?

Good series of posts about the Q & A session. With reference to the question about Parsnips contract – and the reply “f*****g insult” I am quite astounded by the reply. Whilst some people may be uneasy about revealing certain matters about their employment contract ( or legally bound not to) – the nature of the reported reply was outrageous at a public q & a session. Whilst I am no prude about swearing in many organisations if this occured you would be sacked. As previously pointed out -the club are supposed to be the professionals and not the members of the public.
Parsnip has previous for PR gaffes.
Some have posted that there is no lawful right for someone to obtain details of anothers’ employment contract -this is indeed true – but if a person wanted to divulge this would be in order -provided they wanted to and or were not legally prevented from doing so – might indeed be a bit of a cheek. But to answer using foul language is not acceptable.

Mister Tuff- In contractual law, an employee can also be dismissed for divulging terms and conditions of employment to another employee. We weren’t present so we can’t vouch for reported response by our manager. It’s easy to find fault or just misinterpret. Not everyone of our fans is as smart as you.

Mister Tuff- I would be very surprised if Pardew responded in that way. He finds time for travelling fans and I have never heard or seen him disrespect any fan. He says how long he can stay and sticks to it.
He would not be expecting any personal questions on the nature of his employment and certainly not the terms and conditions. I haven’t
Spoken to him for some time but I understand he was congratulated and responded by saying that it was designed to achieve stability and build the club from the grass roots. He. Expressed the desire to see a number of academy players come through the system. He never discusses individuals other than in a jokey way.

  • 148 Mister Tuff // Dec 4, 2012 at 8:58 PM

Ian @138 – granted we we not at the venue -so are only commenting on the report by a blogger . However if the report is true I stand by my original post.Having some knowledge of contractual matters you correctly suggest that divulging the contents of a contract could lead to disciplinary action. However, this would not apply to matters not contained within a contract -along the lines of a clause suggesting that if the fans were sick of him he could be dismissed. Whilst this might have been a daft question the professional reply should have been – initial laughter -denial that the clause existed and finishing that matters contractual are not discussed. Again leeway has to be given to ordinary members of the public.
Ian -you have previously objected to offensive behaviour/comments on the blog -which I support -recently you seem to be giving Parsnip a “free pass” because he chats to the fans.

Maybe Ba is “owned” by gangsters, warlords hoodlums and knucklemen.

How else do you explain the disparate views coming one from the player and the other, his handlers.

    Trippy shit!

You don’t kiss your mother! You heartless brute.

  • 172 croftus5678 // Dec 4, 2012 at 9:33 PM

my view is that 60k is our wage cap and we should not break it.
but ….. compared to other prem teams and there strikers ba is easily worth 90k and truth be told footballers only have till 35years ish max to earn as much as possible so imo he owes us nothing as he was free and he has made nufc more money than we spent on him and has allways been a great servant to us imo.
if he stays like he did last transfer window when i thought he would go in my eyes he would be the new toon hero esp if he rids himself of that stupid (for us) contract.
lets show the lad how much we love him as its the only hope we may have of keeping him.

  • 173 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 4, 2012 at 9:34 PM

That morata lad we were linked with has come on for real madrid seriously quick little player decent touch but doesn’t look much if a striker

  • 174 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 4, 2012 at 9:35 PM

    Croftus
    Well said mate

  • 175 Jail for Ashley // Dec 4, 2012 at 9:42 PM

Crortus, well said with that amazing policy a 52000 full house will be able to watch our best players go off to a bigger club like Spurs who don’t seem to mind paying the going rate for leading goalscorers or exciting attacking fullbacks.

  • 181 BelfastMagpie // Dec 4, 2012 at 9:49 PM

I’ve watched every game they’ve played in champions league last two seasons.

I think I bring them bad luck. :-)

Nah I think Guardiola will end up there.

I don’t mind City, I used to go over to Maine road with my mate & his dad sometimes when I was a kid, when they were rubbish lol

  • 184 BelfastMagpie // Dec 4, 2012 at 9:59 PM

Keith Curle and the likes played for them then, how times have changed eh ? Lol

  • 185 croftus5678 // Dec 4, 2012 at 10:12 PM

    @174
if its the wage cap you was having a go at there i’m not sure how you would solve it as its obv we can not pay 100k per player like we used to and i see 60k plenty enough for any player so should we be held to ransom by other teams paying 100k+ or make a stand like we have and say 60k is max ?
players will go for more money ..i would if someone offered to double my wages ..we are not city/manu/chelsky ect ect our players play for love and money not just money like they used to and its better we have cisse/ba on 60k/week than a waster owen on 100k !

  • 186 jimmysmith // Dec 4, 2012 at 10:17 PM

Man City may be rubbish in Europe but I’m sure they’d make an exception for us, so I’m delighted they’re out altogether.

If we had drawn them in the Europa League, on current form they’d almost certainly have kicked several colours of shite out of us

  • 187 Ginger // Dec 4, 2012 at 10:49 PM

    @ JFA and Novo

Ahh, the whole situation just seems dodgy. I honestly think he seems to like it here much more then he lets on, he just looks genuinely happy.

There must be something about Newcastle football club that makes the players just instantly fall in love with it, I mean anyone of our players could kick up a fuss and get much higher wages in another place if they truly wanted too. (Aside from Simpson and Williamson) As our team is pretty quality.

I was just trying to work out a team for Bordeaux.

    Willo or Tea lady????

Not the best CB in the league, not the best CB in conference and banqueting

Soundoid – does the tea lady push her trolley during the game? She will therefore have a similar turning circle as Willo but slightly better acceleration!!

If the trolley can be left on the touchline – she plays mate lol
