Newcastle Make Nine Changes – Abeid, Amoebi Brothers Start

Alan Pardew has made nine changes to the Newcastle starting line-up for tonight’s Europa League Group D tie at Bordeaux.

Mike Williamson and Sylvain Marveaux ate the only players starting tonight who played in Monday night’s great 3-0 win against Wigan.

Youngsters James Tavernier, Shane Ferguson, Gael Bigirimana, Sammy Ameobi, Mehdi Abeid and Nile Ranger all start tonight – and 17 year-old Adam Campbell is on the bench.

Newcastle will play in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Shola up front, and with Nile Ranger, Sylvain Marveaux and Sammy Ameobi backing up Shola, and of course Mehdi Abeid and Gael Bigirimana in central midfield.

Both teams have already qualified for the last 32 – but we expect Newcastle to try to get another win in this game.

This is actually quite a good team

Tav getting to play on his strong right foot and Fergy and Marveux getting some more game time

Hope Ranger takes his last chance and puts a shift in

Basically our “reserve” team, hope we do well. I don’t think finishing top will make too much difference as there are so many good teams left in this competition, luck of the draw.

Marv playing here could mean pards doesn’t plan to start him on Monday. Terrible decision if that’s the case.

has jonas suffered an injury because unless he has i can’t see any reason for marvo starting ahead of him
and i know for sure jonas does not deserve to be in the startting 11 premier league games.
when a professional football player malcolm macdonald gets annoyed with him starting them you don’t need to go any further as that proves jonas is not good enough for the starting 11

if marvo start tonight is not bad enough i found this on sky sports web
    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11678/8308820/Midfielder-Sylvain-Marveaux-wants-to-play-more-regularly-for-Newcastle-United
now to me this is marvo warning the club that if they don’t start playing him over the likes of jonas then he is away

It’s about time Abeid got a start. Can’t believe Williamson’s playing again. Ferguson is not a left back. Tavernier is very poor. Shola isn’t good enough and I’m not sure about Sammi yet. Hopefully James Perch will have a good game tonight. It’s crucial that he starts ahead of Williamson for the next match. Looking forward to seeing Marveaux.

That’s what worries me. We find a system 433 or a variation of it, Marveaux has a stormer but in pardew’s mind he will only risk one flair player in Benny instead of having 2 creators.

ian toon says pardew has no favourites but beg to differ on Guti.

I think what is happning is Pardew wants to see how Marveux does 2 games in a row you just have to look at Anita he has played lots of league and Europa back to back now and can now be trusted

If Marveux does not play well tonight and does not try he will be on the bench Monday but if he applies himself and we beat Bordeuax he may just get the nod a bit like how he eased Arfa into the team but also got him working hard and to be fair he has made Arfa a much better player

The jury is still out for me on Tav, Abeid, Sammy….AND Shola !!

Lets hope i am proved wrong though!

The only ba thing is, this pretty much says that marv wont be playing on monday 🙁

    I was hoping for a
    Hba–cisse–marv
    ——–ba———

    But guess it might be
    Cisse—hba—jonas
    ———-ba———-

If we do play jonas there it wud be really stupid cause he cannot attack at all imo

SILLY to risk marveaux in a meaningless game. even if he comes through unscathed – and thats a big IF – he’ll be too drained to give his best on Monday. Why not play amalfitano for a change

I don’t think Shola will be too bothered about you still having the jury out on him, at 31 I don’t think he will feel he has too much more time to sway those that are still on the fence (Ibiza)

I wouldn’t be second guessing Pards, Marveaux just needs to make a statement of intent and ensure that Pards cannot overlook him. A good performance tonight could make sure of that.

Kets the pressure is on tonight, if Abeid doesn’t do the business you could be in for some flack 😛

Why are people assuming that just because Marv is starting tonight that Jonas is certainly starting on Monday, I was unaware that you had a personal hotline into the inner workings of our manager’s mind.

I wouldn’t discount Jonas just yet, how does one good performance mean that Pardew has to start him in the PL? Surely everything that Jonas has done for us, and must still be doing in training, still warrants a place in the side?

Marv was fantastic against Wigan but it was just one game.

Once Ben Arfa is back i’d love to see him and Marv both starting in midfield, something like this.

    Tiote—Anita
    Marv–Ben Arfa–Obertan
    Cisse/Ba
