What Team Would You Start Tonight?

8:45 am, Thursday, December 6th, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 26 Comments

Alan Pardew will start a young side tonight in the Europa League at Bordeaux, but exactly what the team will be we don’t know, but the Newcastle manager has given some hints on who will start the game.

Marveaux will start – had a great game against Wigan

Alan Pardew said yesterday that he will rest a lot of the first team players for the tough game at Fulham on Monday night – and Demba Ba, Davide Santon, Jonas Gutierrez and Cheick Tiote have not even made the trip as they receive treatment for slight injuries they picked up on Monday night against Wigan.

Alan Pardew said he will protect some of Newcastle’s starters for Monday night:

“Obviously, we have got to protect ourselves for Monday night, which is an important game for us, but this has its own importance.

“We have got a very young side which is going to start, so we just hope we have got enough in that team to keep us in the game and then – obviously, the draw is no good for us – look to win it towards the end.”

The Newcastle manager has said he will start Gael Bigirimana, Sylvain Marveaux, Shane Ferguson, Sammy Ameobi and Nile Ranger, and it’s good to see young Adam Campbell back in the side, and he could see some playing time early next year.

That’s if Shola Ameobi decides to go to the African Cup of Nations – and Demba Ba leaves on that release clause in his contract.

Not sure what the team will be tonight, but here’s a first shot at it:

Elliot
Tavernier Williamson (c) Perch Ferguson
Marveaux Bigirimana Anita Moyo
Ranger Ameobi (Sa)

Shola Ameobi is also in the squad and he could either start the game or get some playing time off the bench, and it could be a debut for Frenchman Yven Moyo.

What team would you start tonight?

where’s poor old xisco? that was very short lived!

Really hope Marv is in the team at Fulham, would send an awfully negative message if he isn’t. Surely we can have 2 flair players in the team. Drop one of cisse or jonas

why is everyone putting ranger ahead of adam campbell? campbell someone who has worked hard never been in trouble with the club but yet its al kiss rangers arse coz for a few weeks he has been the golden boy. He isnt even good, campbell is more promising!

  • 6 RonVanDam // Dec 6, 2012 at 8:54 AM

    Isnt Campbell injured?

  • 7 Indian Magpie // Dec 6, 2012 at 8:54 AM

    Campbell is injured

  • 8 Indian Magpie // Dec 6, 2012 at 8:55 AM

    Knowing Pardew,

He would start HBA on the bench and start Marveaux

  • 9 Indian Magpie // Dec 6, 2012 at 8:56 AM

Oh and i guess perch will start at RB at Fulham i.e

  • 10 Shedzzzaa // Dec 6, 2012 at 8:57 AM

Mehdi Abeid, Romain Amalfitano, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi, Vurnon Anita, Gael Bigirimana, Adam Campbell, Papiss Cisse, Fabricio Coloccini, Rob Elliot, Shane Ferguson, Tim Krul, Sylvain Marveaux, Yven Moyo, Conor Newton, James Perch, Nile Ranger, Danny Simpson, James Tavernier, Mike Williamson

thats from eds previous post about team that have traveled…. CAMPBELL is on there.

  • 11 Raj // Dec 6, 2012 at 8:58 AM

    Elliot
    Tav Willo Perchinho Fergie

    Marv Bigi Anita

    Ranger Shola Sammi

Formation as above. Giv Cisse a game time in the last half an hour. Even throw Xisco if at bench.

  • 12 Transfer Sage // Dec 6, 2012 at 8:59 AM

Campbell travelled so he isn’t injured.

Also I agree he should be on ahead of ranger. Ranger has had a lot of changes with a poor goal return. He can offer something but Campbell should be given a go before him. Seen both in reserves and Campbell is miles ahead in near enough every aspect of his game.

    Transfer Sage, i am not looking for an argument but you say;

Ranger has had a lot of changes with a poor goal return.

I dont have a problem with that but that should reply to Shola Ameobi too. Do you Agree Sir.

Wouldn’t play Marveaux or Anita from the start – I would be cautious need them for Monday

    Team to start:
    Elliot, Tavernier, Williamson, Perch, Ferguson
    Almalfitino, Abied, Bigrimana,
    Ranger, Sami and Shola

As much as I would love to win the group, in terms of who we will draw next I really don’t think it matters whether we finish 1st or 2nd. There are only good teams left, CL Dropouts, group winners and group runner ups. We will have to play the best teams in it at some point, so why avoid them.

Totally agree – ain’t matter if we finish 1st or 2nd.
    Need strongest team for Monday
Would like to sees five in midfield for Monday
Jonas, Anita, Tiote, Marveux, and Ben Arfa

  • 20 The_Toon // Dec 6, 2012 at 9:44 AM

    I’d like to see 4-3-3

    Tav—-Willi—–Perch—–Ferg
    Bigi-Amalfitano-Abeid
    Nile-Shola-Sammy

  • 21 MichaelMac // Dec 6, 2012 at 9:53 AM

I’d like to see Xisco get a full 90 minutes, the lad deserves that if his attitude is as good as the coach’s/player’s make it out to be. Who knows he may even be able to fill the gap left when the African Nations Cup comes around ;)

  • 22 giimps // Dec 6, 2012 at 11:24 AM

I read somewhere Xisco activates a clause where his previous club is entitled to more money if he plays another 1st team appearance.
Im not sure if its true but it explains why he has been missing recently and not on the plane if hes not injured.
I would play Ranger and Cambell up front tonight, they know each other from reserves etc and it will save Sammi and Strolla for monday if needed vs Fulham.

So Marveaux is starting..? What if he has a great game? Is Pardew gonna play him at Fulham..? (Then we will hear about how tired we are on Monday when we loose..?)

No Harper on the plane? Injured?

From the looks of who is on the plane and Pardews comments, I am expecting:

    Elliot
    Tavernier-Willo-Perch-Ferguson
    Marveaux-Bigi-Abeid
    Sammi-Ranger-Shola

What I would like to see:

    ——————-Harper—————-
    -Simpson-Tavernier-Perch-Ferguson-
    ————-Bigi———-Abeid———
    Sammi———————-Marveaux–
    ———–Ranger——-Cisse———–

  • 24 DG MAGPIE // Dec 6, 2012 at 1:43 PM

I would give all the young fresh faces a game tonight.. If we are going to win or have a decent run we are going to have to beat some good teams anyway so I don’t mug coming second.
    ——— Elliot ———–
    Tav willo perch Fergie
    Ober mehdi. Bigi amilfirano
    —– Sami ranger/xisco

  • 25 AmericanGeordie // Dec 6, 2012 at 2:19 PM

    4-3-2-1
    Eliot
Tav-Perch-Willo-Fergie (god help us with this back line!)
    Bigi-Abeid
    Amalf-Marveaux-Sammy
    Ranger

We’d need to hope that this midfield can control the game. Then if we are level come 60 minutes, AP can throw on Shola, Anita & Cisse for the last 30, 20 & 10 minutes respectively.

  • 26 NUFCKingALLdWAY // Dec 6, 2012 at 2:37 PM

Why is no one talking about Abeid. He has a lot of potential and scored a great goal in pre season so why does he not get a place in the starting team. He is much better than Dan Gosling and he got a starting position before he was injured so why doesn’t Abeid?
