Ben Arfa Starts In Strong Newcastle Side At Fulham

Hatem Ben Arfa is in the starting eleven tonight for Newcastle, and it seems that all players injured against Wigan are now fit and start in the side.

Ben Arfa was passed fit as were Davide Santon, Cheick Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez and Demba Ba and they all start tonight, in what is Newcastle’s strongest side – apart from the injured Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor.

And Steve Harper is on the bench tonight, for the first time in a long while, and the bench is strong with Shola Ameobi, the in-form Sylvain Marveaux, James Perch and youngsters James Tavernier, Gael Bigirimana and Shane Ferguson all names as substitutes.

But no place for Nile Ranger, with Shola being fit again and Sammy Ameobi is also missing tonight.

For Fulham former Newcastle winger Damien Duff is in the starting line-up.

Newcastle will be going all out for three points tonight.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Fulham (4-4-2): Mark Schwarzer; Sascha Riether, Brede Hangeland (c), Aaron Hughes, John Arne Riise; Damien Duff, Steve Sidwell, Chris Baird, Alex Kacaniklic; Dimitar Berbatov, Hugo Rodallega
Substitutes: Neil Etheridge, Philippe Senderos, Giorgos Karagounis, Mahamadou Diarra, Kieran Richardson, Ashkan Dejagah, Mladen Petric

Newcastle United: (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Cheick Tiote, Vurnon Anita; Papiss Cisse, Hatem Ben Arfa, Jonas Gutierrez; Demba Ba
Substitutes: Steve Harper, James Tavernier, Shane Ferguson, James Perch, Gael Bigirimana, Sylvain Marveaux, Shola Ameobi

Marveux and Fergy there to step in for Gutti tho.
I think if Gutti does another performance tonight like he recently has, he won’t be a starter next week.
Seen him defending the criticism rightfully recieved on twitter too.
Also he got subbed against Wigan, and that wasn’t to rest him imo…

Ed some would beg to differ on strongest side in fact not sure anyone on this blog would at that team given the player available drop Williamson and Jonas add Marv and Perch that would be much better in my opinion !

Whoop Whoop!. Jonas gets pushed forward as everyone has been saying he has been stifled by being egged back, and what does he get? ‘Dropped for Marveaux – what an outrage!’ Evidently Jonas should have been bundled into the reserves to make way for a slow-cooking fixer-upper who put in a single reasonably keen 1st team display against the mighty Wiglets.

Oh Jonas, they dont love their Spidermag anymore….

So Marveaux has a standout game against Wigan and could push on his NUFC career but Pardew drops him for Gutierrez. Marv must be sick

    im gutted,, AGAIN

we will lose, we will give them a head start

pardew is doing the same to guti as he did to obertan,, playing him when he should be dropped, and the fans will turn on him soon(jonas) which is a shame, cos he is a legend
id rather have the great memories of the past , than watching him struggle every week in 3 different positions

pardew hang your head in shame

    @Tsunki
I think most here understand that Gutti doesn’t offer much going forward anymore. It might be form, but i think it’s age tbh.
Maybe AP sees a different role for Gutti on the pitch beside just the playing part.
But i would like to see Anita swap with Gutti position wise tbh.
Maybe not as a winger tho…
Going for a win tonight 🙂 Then again, i always do 😉

For everyone down on Jonas, I have 2 comments:

    1. I’m just happy to see us lineed up in a 4-2-3-1 WITH Ben Arfa in the center of the pitch rather than on a wing.

    2. Jonas, despite his shortcomings, is a tireless worker which Pardew always rewards. SO, I’d like to see him dropped back to LB, move Santon to RB, and bring Marveaux in on the left wing while dropping Simpson to the bench.

    HWTL!!!

Come on, really? Everyone think that Marveaux is fully match fit? Not quite there yet. He will get a game tonight though, but he’s not a starter yet for me. Has more to prove.

Team will actually play like this after say the first 20 minutes, back to 442.

    Krul
    Simmo Willo Collo Santon
    Ben10 Anita Tiote Jonas
    Ba Cisse

Who do you think you are kidding Pardew you hopeless shit, this is now embarrassing and everyone gets took in by it.

Would sooner have Peter Reid in charge.

Looking forward to the Shola show in the second half as obviously Ba and Cisse cant hold the ball up from our barrage of long punts.

    Groundhog Day.

I thought Pardeaux was supposed to be playing for a win?? Jonas is either carrying an injury, or he needs a rest; after the way we played against Wigan, he should be looking for as near as possible, an unchanged team!!

Not very impressed to be honest

Well at least it isn’t 442 and I’m thankful for that, but why are we playing Cisse as a right midfield / wing when he’s an out and out poacher. Why can’t we actually play a right mid / wing with pace like Obertan and have him Benny and Marveaux behind Cisse or Ba.

One day Pardew might have to lock the fans out of training again if he finally ever drops one of Cisse and Ba and especially Jonas. None of the other 19 EPL managers would ever spot that one coming!!
