It’s certainly not the time to panic, but losing five league games out of six against the mediocre teams of the league, should be sending shock waves through the Newcastle boardroom – and if that’s not happening – it should be.
Danny Simpson challenges Alex Kacaniklic
Newcastle’s slump over the last six league game means that we have only 14 points from 16 games played, and even in our relegation season we had 16 points from the first 16 games played – so Derek Llambias, Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew had better get some good players lined up to bring through the door in early in January – starting with a central midfielder, a center-back and a striker.
And as we have mentioned before – the new TV deal starts next year for the Premier League clubs, and the revenues are a 70% increase over what clubs receive this season, which is the third and last year of the old deal, and we know Mike Ashley knows all about that, and if we were to get relegated it would be another tragedy, after a short three years back in the Premier League.
And don’t tell us it cannot happen, because we all know the longer this slump lasts, the more the players lose their confidence, and the more real becomes the relegation fight.
It’s not as if we can say we’ll struggle until February and then we’ll be OK – because it doesn’t work like that, and Newcastle will need to string some wins together soon, otherwise we could see ourselves slump even further down the league.
The game after next is against QPR at home, and they haven’t won a game in the league yet, but they are starting to look a better side under Harry Redknapp, so a defeat against the London side, and alarm bells will be ringing very loud at St. James’ Park – and we’re not talking about the Christmas bells either.
Newcastle players need to wake up and start playing to their capabilities before it gets too late, otherwise we’ll be enmeshed in another relegation fight.

Comment #3No reason to panic as it achieves nothing. Exactly the reason Pardew has 8 year contract. We keep him through the good and the bad. If we go down he will bring us back up again. Panic in april if we are in the botom 3 and then pray some. Pardew is going nowhere. 8 year contracts for him and his staff cost fortunes in compo. More than Ashers pays on players. Pardew is here to stay. Get used to it.

Comment #4Striker and central midfielder, Ed?
How about a right full back? Yesterdays 2-1 goal was a direct consequence of Mr. Simpson losing the ball in a easy situation in the right flank. What is also a foregone conclusion that he cannot cross, but crossing is the only thing he has in mind. He cannot run at players, never challenges the opposite.
What was also somewhat astaunding, that Pardew went for 3 strikers in a situation , where there are no good crossers of the ball on the field.

Comment #5I really fail to see what not getting in more players has to do with how we play football
What I have seen is good players we have turn into bad players
Start with jonas , said it many times before used to be my fave player, now he is a circus clown that just runs all day, I know there is a good player still in him
Tiote , he came and for 2 seasons was immense , a rock in the centre, suddenly he carnt tackle or pass the ball,
Cabaye, first few matches and about 5 at the end of last season he looked amazing , but only when he is higher up the pitch we get nothing but running from him when he plays deep
Ba a CF that needs service , can only play this roll, stick him left or right , you lose his game, which is goals
Cisse as above , but even more so, has no hold up play at all, great finisher, when cabaye and HBA where right behind him last season feeding him , he was among the best in the world at what he dose
Ppl talk about his man management skills , I really think they only good on players at a very low level, the players I mention above are class players in the right positions, but Pardew concentrates on the likes o obertan perch shola Williamson bringing them up and forgets his good players,
His mannmanegment skills with players like marv and the kids is very bad, for him to come out and blame the kids last week was inexcusable , those same kids got into the next round of Europe ,
Simpson is the closest one out the door, why is he still in the team, tav can do a job will make mistakes but he will improve
Pardew needs a long look in the mirror , he will who is at fault, his tactics, his training methods, his team selections , his subs, I don’t see how MA can have anything to do with them
The squad is stronger than last season, Anita , he is a very big plus in the last few games, others should be one season more wiser in the prem

Comment #6In the relegation season it was a merry go round of managers that proved to be the killer blow. That is not the case this time. Besides nothing was working for us that season, in spite of having options on the bench. I wish 1. we had addressed the need for a steady central defence,
2. Pardew had discovered the secret goal scoring recipe with the perfect balance of HBA, Ba and Cisse…and sprinkled a decent 3rd striker on top.

Comment #7Catchy well said mate couldnt have put it better myself. These are good players gone bad or just dont care anymore. The same tactical play we havent scored from a set piece and you want to know why????? cause we only have one set piece play find willamson. Is that all they do in training every week. Cathy i dont think Pardew is built for a big team and his interviews frustrate me son. People saying its still to early have you seen our next 6 fixtures oh we should be worried very worried. Pardew has a better squad then many teams above us in the table yet its only when i watch Newcastle i find every game we cant hold the ball our first shot usually takes over 40 mins and we just look terrible. Why is Pardew failing to make these lads perform??? and the only person left on the injury list that can make a difference is Cabaye so if we are saying we cant win without him we have a Massive problem. So i wish i could share all of those who have belief and faith in Pardew but for many of us i can only see more F######D up times.

Your right we should not panic. If you are dumb enough to listen to that arch canvasser for doom and gloom Catchy then heaven help you. Negativity despite the quotes of Chairman Beattie will not help the cause. For a time after we equalised we really blitzed Fulham and but for wasted chances we would have won, just look at the stats. I agree with earlier posters that we might have to sell Ba if he does not slot into a left sided role. I won’t say we’re to good to go down because we do need to start picking up points. At the game the atmosphere was terrific and we need to show our support at home games. There was no lack of confidence just poor defending. Two sloppy goals. We need a CB because Coloccini is picking up some of Williamson’s bad habits. I would sell him and bring in 2 CB’s one an experienced premier league type. Dawson of Spurs?

How you doing? Do not weaken please do not join the moonies er I mean Catchy’s sect. I was worried when I saw you had posted the same piece twice. Your right on Ruddy99.99%. Reading his outburst it was like a Beatie mood swing. Ruddy sometimes is no fun unlike IT.

Worth a draw at least. Thought you were generous with Coloccini 6 defensively he was ragged did not organise wall. He showed a lack of organisation generally up against one of the best though. Anyone who recognises class loved Berbatov he was admired by the toon fans.
Need to get defence sorted and build from back. Krul was back to best

I am great mate especially as it was my turn to drive so i did not drink. Calm down and do not be rude.. I was at the match and travelled back with mates who know something about football. We lost because we made defensive mistakes and wasted good chances. I share jimiley and Jimmy Smith’s view on it and they have more experience than me.
When you should start worrying is when you look Pardew in the eye / face and see that he has lost it. I did and he as not . He found the time to thank us for travelling . Don’t panic it will be alright after a bleak winter. Hope you have a happy Xmas too.

Comment #12LOOOOL pushy its not good enough to say we just lost cause we made defensive mistakes we always make defensive mistakes for someone who travels to the game i thought you would be able to see that a lot better. One striker performing one just doesnt know what is suppose to be doing a midfield with a bull in the middle he seems to look like he has a distraction. Jonas who is putting on the pounds and that seems to be slowing him down. Simpson who delivers maybe 3 decent balls per game we can go on but i am sure deep down you know as well as i do we do have problems. He needs to change his formations around starting with dropping cisse and giving someone else a chance you cant keep losing games and saying we getting better it will come its not coming mate. We have lost to teams we should have beaten so the question i ask you is if we couldnt do it against them who will we beat??
