Reports That Moussa Sissoko To Join Newcastle In January

6:46 pm, Thursday, December 13th, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 25 Comments

As we said earlier this morning we need some good news these days, after Newcastle have gone into a terrible slump of results in the Premier League.  And it seems like French newspaper L’Equipe is trying to oblige Newcastle fans (that’s so nice of them), because they are reporting today that Moussa Sissoko is on his way to Newcastle in January, and we wouldn’t be too surprised if that turns out to be the case.

moussa sissoko

Moussa Sissoko – please can I join Newcastle

We hope it’s the case- and it may even be that Newcastle have already done the deal with Toulouse for the French international box to box midfielder, who has often been compared to the great Patrick Vieira.

And it could also explain why Alan Pardew appears to be so confident that Newcastle will have a stronger squad come February.

Yohan Cabaye is out until February, although there was some good news this morning that he could be back in mid-January, as could Steven Taylor, but we need another creative central midfielder in our ranks as soon as possible  - there’s no doubt about that.

Sissoko is 23, and his contract at Toulouse runs out in the summer, so he would be available for a reasonably small fee in January, although some other big clubs are also said to be interested.

We have to hope this news is true, because we need to pull out of the relegation zone as soon as possible and start heading up that league table.

However, our game on Saturday is at home to Manchester City, and 70% of our readers think we will lose that game – so things could get a little worse before they start to get better.

It’d be a good start if true.

We can’t get Diame, he is out for 3 months, so we get Sissoko! Yay!! I’m so happy!!!!!!! Although, it could be the biggest pile of sh*t once again! ;) nevertheless, he’d be a great signing!!!!!! :)

A Patrick Viera type player who can control the play in midfield is exactly what we need – there isn’t one midfielder at the club, including Cabaye, who can do that.

    Rotonda
Perhaps a better manager could of seen this season but we wont know
The thing now is regardless of whether its pardews fault for selection, the boards fault for not securing signings or the players fault for under performing the club are in a position where the style of football needs to go on the back burner for now and we need to gets some points on the board regardless if its pretty to watch or not
The whole club has a role to play until january comes the board need to already working on securing targets, pards needs to be drilling the players we have fit and getting them into a better frame of mind and the players need to go out there and be prepared to fight tooth and nail for results
Thinks its fair to say none of the above are doing these to there ability at the moment
    The board need to invest
Pardew needs to be ruthless in selection for some that means dropping jonas but i think there are a couple of others especially tiote to give him a reminder he still needs to put the effort in!
The players need to show more on the pitch keep there heads on when defending, look up when passing instead of panicing and stop pulling out of 50/50?s ( that annous the hell out of me!)
One big concern i have is if cisse has the shoulders to take challenge of a relegation battle on

Sissoko’s assist record isn’t that good surprisingly. He does score the odd goal but will he add enough to our attack? I suppose it it his age and the fact his contract is running out that is attracting Asley. What a surprise.

This January is the biggest test of Ashley’s commitment to NUFC since he bought the club. We need a minimum of two quality net additions to the squad ie., if Ba goes we need three in. If that doesn’t happen even I will question Ashley’s motives.

Think ill wait til we see someone through the door :-)
Even if MA and AP are interested it takes time to work out personal terms and the actual asking price.

Would love to see this team in January

    ————————Krul———————

    –Debuchy—Alderwireld—-Collocini–Santon–

    ————-Tiote—————Anita———–

    ——HBA———-Cabaye——Sissoko——

    ——————–Cisse/Ba———————

That should be more than enough to get our season back on track and would cost about 15 million

  • 9 tequilamag // Dec 13, 2012 at 6:57 PM

BPC why would you want to put Sissoko out in the left ?

  • 10 Ghost Of Catchy // Dec 13, 2012 at 6:57 PM

I’ll believe it when i see it..

http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=07rJWXfBPfs&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D07rJWXfBPfs&gl=GB If he can do this, I think he’s at least a decent player! ;)

  • 12 Magpies-till-d3ath // Dec 13, 2012 at 7:01 PM

    Krul
    Debuchy Alderweireld Coloccini Santon
    Anita Sissoko
    Benny Cabaye Remy
    Cisse

If good old Demba does leave, I won’t be just as upset if our team ends up like this!:)

  • 13 Magpies-till-d3ath // Dec 13, 2012 at 7:02 PM

Sorry. Forgot to mention that Tiote instead of Anita once he gets back from ACON

  • 14 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 13, 2012 at 7:05 PM

    MTD
Based on form i’d have anita infront of tiote but suppose you can never write off mr. T

  • 15 Graeme // Dec 13, 2012 at 7:12 PM

This guy could be an excellent addition to our squad, he brings things non of our players have, which has to be great news. Variety and the ability to vary our play would be a huge asset, with no detriment to the skill we already have on board.

    I hope it comes off!!

  • 16 Graeme // Dec 13, 2012 at 7:13 PM

Magpies @ 12 – that is some team mate!!

  • 17 Symo22 // Dec 13, 2012 at 7:21 PM

Id rather have Eric Pieters in as LB and Santon across in his natural postion! And eric is younger than debuchy!! As for sissoko would be over the moon if managed to get him tiote cabaye then play a 433 with cisse hba and another flair attacking player on left!!

  • 18 TheToonKing // Dec 13, 2012 at 7:39 PM

If this is true it must mean we’re selling Tiote. No way there is room for Tiote , Sissoko and Anita in the team.

  • 19 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 13, 2012 at 8:12 PM

Think our plan is to keep all our defensive midfielders and play Tiote, Anita, Sissokho, Bigirimana and Diame in a 5 man midfield with no wingers.

  • 20 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 13, 2012 at 8:15 PM

Our new look team could be this:

    Krul

    Debuchy Alderewerield Santon

    Anita Bigi Diame Tiote Sissoko

    Ben Arfa

    Remy

  • 21 NUFC FOR SALE // Dec 13, 2012 at 8:45 PM

Sissoko to us and the day later Tiote to Chelsea…guranteed.

and to be honest wouldn’t be that bothered.

Tiote is becoming a liability, dwells on the ball in wrong areas of the pitch, passing is hopless and he’s suspended for too many games.

  • 22 miggy // Dec 13, 2012 at 9:55 PM

think u could be been a bit unfair on tiote i personally think pardews told him to stop getting so many cards and as a result its affected his natural ability to play the game the way he knows give the lad time he get back to hes best then u wont be complaining hwtl

  • 23 Mint // Dec 13, 2012 at 11:33 PM

Arsenal are clearly snapping up Tiote as part of their 40mil bail out of their season – hence the strength of this report. Mark my words, Tiote > Arsenal in Jan.

  • 24 toonicle // Dec 14, 2012 at 4:26 PM

Should signing a midfielder, no matter how good or how sweet a deal, really be a priority right now? If Pards is talking about signing 1 or MAYBE 2 players, and he is counting Sissoko as one of those then we are in serious trouble. Our priorities should be a CB and a RB, and then look at a ST for when Ba leaves in January (looks more and more certain now).

  • 25 EastEndMagpie // Dec 14, 2012 at 7:23 PM

if tiote goes we’ll get 20 million so wont be that bad, but i dont think he will leave,

but i do think some people on here are so quick to criticise our players and manager, titoe for instance, has been absolutely outstanding for us, ok he’s scored one, and doesnt get many assists but he’s dominant in the centre and wins us games so often shearly by controlling his area backing up others and simply scaring the opposition, as we all know, he has picked up a lot of cards, in fairness to him i think alot are given shearly because its him , but im not denying he makes mistakes and could be better in areas but hes still young, he’s obviously had some stick so in fairness to him, hes trying to change his game to prevent cards, which shows how much he actually cares, at a time when he’s lost his most potent and reliable partner in cabaye, so therefore has too initiate alot of the moves as of late aswell as do his normal job, aswell as not getting as many cards! give the man a break!

same with pardew, so many utterly gruel him on here, werent grueling him last year? the mans barely been able to field his best 11 at all this year!?!?! aswell as more or less no backing in the summer! whats he supposed to do, ok we all have our own thoughts on formations and tactics, and our set pieces are a complete shambles that really need to be sorted out, but give the man a break, im sure if our joke of an owner had backed him in the summer rather than going out buying shares in every company going, or even if he’d had a full squad, we wouldnt be in this mess
