Turkish Club After Newcastle Striker In January

9:28 am, Thursday, December 13th, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 24 Comments

Press reports in Turkey are suggesting that top club Galatasaray, who are currently top of the league in Turkey are considering another move for Newcastle United striker Demba Ba. Galatasaray and Fenerbehce were both linked with the striker in the summer, and that release clause of his again becomes active next month, but we cannot imagine Ba leaving Newcastle when we are likely to be in big trouble in the Premier League.

demba ba - scoring aginst Norwich City 1-0

Demba Ba – Galatasaray again interested

The news is that the Galatasaray President Ünal Aysal, is ready to fork out some big transfer money in January, and of course he could pick up an excellent striker in Ba, for only £7M.

Aysal is ambitious and wants Galatasaray to be fighting for the European Champions League,  and of course they beat Manchester United 1-0 in one of the group rounds recently, and looked a very good side in that game.

Real Madrid’s Brazilian International Kaka is also being tracked by the Turkish club, and it seems the Brazilian doesn’t have much of a future at Madrid under coach Jose Mourinho.

But we are likely to see the same circus in January as we saw in June and July, which was the last time Ba’s release contract was active – and surely something must be done in future to eliminate these types of  contracts, which seem solely for the benefit of the player and his agents.

But of course Newcastle agreed to the release clause when we signed the Senegal striker 18 months ago – so we put ourselves in this onerous position.

We have no idea if Demba Ba will leave in January, but we hope he will show some loyalty to Newcastle, especially if we are low down in the Premier League next month – which now seems likely.

Losing Demba Ba next month would be tragic for Newcastle.

Our thoughts may be repetitive but with every passing defeat home and away to mediocre opposition, the concern grows.

You haven’t really put forward a creditable counter argument apart from ”well we did well last season”. The operative word there my friend being LAST.

We should really play a sweeper against city to protect
Willo. Never happen with our so enlightened manager.

    Krul

    Colo

    Perch Willo

    Santon Anita Tiote Fergie

    Benny Cisse Marveaux

Wont be that tragic, if we get a replacement

  • 3 Graeme // Dec 13, 2012 at 9:34 AM

The answer is obvious – swap Ba for Kaka – problem solved lol. Unfortunately, Kaka is a short arse so would have to stand on Williamson’s shoulders to get anywhere near the ball!!

I would love to get experience striker in for Ba. I don’t mind the age, like DiNatale or Huntelaar (might be too expensive), because we already have talented young strikers in our squad.

    Graeme

Kaka is taller than Cisse, but he is skillful and has good pace. It’s a very good idea, but I don’t think we could afford his wage, even Milan can’t afford it.

Yeh I get last season has gone but tiote hasn’t done it this year though.

I don’t think he scares opponents at all. I think they know he gives away free kicks and that you can sue this to your advantage. Run at him, get him booked early then he isn’t the same threat.

I like him, admire the lads character and work ethic, gives his all and you can see that, just think in the modern game of the last 2/3 seasons cards come very easy and he is a liability. Gets booked in 50% of his games and once booked he then struggles to play the same game.

What talented young strikers do we have? Campbells the only one I can think off

Sammy and Vuckic? or I’m wrong about them?

    Never heard this one before!

Not going to get wound up about Ba.

To want him out for a return of £3.5m seems mad. But we can’t keep him, so if he goes, he goes and the board must then bring in someone else. Life will go on, but let’s not push out our top goal scorer from last season and so far this one…..for £3.5m.

look at all good teams…you need experienced players in the side otherwise younger lads can get lost off.

Look at berbatov…nobody can tell me, that for a few million fulham paid, he would have been a bad signing for us. Rotate him with the other forwards and let our lads learn from him in training.

I would personally love to see Corchia, M’Biwa and Remy come in . We may then see Pardew go 433 with Remy out left and Cisse in the middle where he should be.

I’m torn between waiting to see if we bring any quality in to replace simmo and willo to see if it would alter pardew’s tactic or whether he would carry on the same style regardless.

If it’s the latter we need a new possibly continental manager asap. Some really good ones out of contract at the moment

    TS
Tbf no one has done it this year

I agree him racking up cards is a issue but CDM all tend to, only one who could come in for him when he isnt around is Perch and he picks up just as many. I reckon it would be a mistake to lose him

  • 13 Graeme // Dec 13, 2012 at 9:44 AM

Santon03; Ah, but Milan hasn’t got the attractions of Newcastle mate, as well we know. Once he understands the delights of the toon, he will be begging to come.

Get your namesake to extol the virtues of the Geordie females and he just wont be able to resist . He’ll be asking if he can pay us mate lol

sammy i don’t think looks anything like a player good enough for the prem league…same as his brother…flatters to deceive..no end product 90% of the time

vukic – a real talent, cool on the ball, agile, composed….unfortunately spends 80% of his time with the physios…never has a chance to get a run in any side as he is always injured and ahsn’t really kicked on for 2 years

Same 5hit, different window. Selling Ba for 7 million odd and coming away with half of that is very bad business. Would rather keep him as you are not going to be able to buy the same service for what you receive from selling him (graham Carr that’s a challenge). If one of our big players has to leave then surely it is tiote. If we got ten million for tiote it would be great considering we have Anita and sisokko and Diameter are available for a lot less. Ashley knows of Ba leaves its a bad deal financially as he will be expected to bring another striker through the door (he is anyway by me) I think this is why they are trying to remove the clause so they can fetch a bit more from him when he goes. It’s funny how Ba is a Muslim and may not benefit from lending or receiving money but is happy to take 50% off a sell on fee for him and his agent. I guess he is just looking out for himself as we all would do, if he wasn’t banging the goals in it wouldn’t be an issue. Ba could easily reach 20 league goals if he stays beyond January and won’t he be the first since shearer to do so? He is the first to reach Doyle figures in consecutive seasons aince Shearer, hoping cisse will be the next

Sammy I havent seen as a striker but, as much as I love him, has a very long way to go before his is a regular PL quality player and Vuckic is a sick note

  • 17 Santon03 // Dec 13, 2012 at 9:46 AM

    TS

I agree 100%, another example is AC Milan, having lost all of experience players including Ibra & Cassano, they are struggling.

  • 18 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 13, 2012 at 9:50 AM

TS….I was discussing Berbatov with a mate back when we sold Carroll as he felt he was an ideal replacement for us. He is a great ST, but would command a starting place, surely? He didn’t want to play back up at Man U, why would he at Newcastle? Not saying I wouldn’t want him, as I would, just not sure we’d be able to make it happen with.

Rotonda…I desperately want to see what he can do with some upgrades for the weaker links. I’m honestly not expecting him to ever be able to reach a Barcelona level, but that is an unreasonable expectation for us at this point imo. If he can get us playing better, get us pushing back up that table and then start to season by season keep in and around Europe i’d see it as progress. Ultimately at some point, i’d imagine to take a next step we’d need someone better in, I just don’t feel we’re anywhere near that yet.

A continental assistant coach would be welcomed, both domestically and in the EL.

  • 19 Santon03 // Dec 13, 2012 at 9:51 AM

    @Graeme – LOL
    @TS & WWYCD

They are still very young still have time to improve same as Campbell, if we get another player with the same age under current circumstances, I don’t think it will be much help. Current circumstances need experience to handle pressures.

  • 20 nick_9 // Dec 13, 2012 at 9:51 AM

WWYCD have to agree with that, Sammy is just frustrating

  • 21 Raktim Sharma // Dec 13, 2012 at 9:54 AM

I have noticed that we have resigned to the fact that players above 30 shouldnt be brought in. Arent we missing out on some really good players who have 3-4 years in them. Just look for the quality and wages balance and get the guy on a 3 year deal! What’s wrong with that, as long as we don’t crowd the dressing room with 30 year olds. it will be a wild example, but lets say, bellamy??

  • 22 blew // Dec 13, 2012 at 10:16 AM

Ba and his agent constructed the contract so they will make big money after a year. There is nothing the club can do, both are mercenaries and the soon Ba goes the better, he will be missed.
Sammi and Vuckic will never succeed at top level.
As far as over 30s are concerned, most lack pace and we dont pace within the team. Look at Jonas, his legs have gone at 29. Mind he is the oldest 29 years I have ever seen. I would love to see his birth certificate, the one his parents got at his birth !!

    Question: Chelsea; 4-2-3-1 or…?

  • 24 lesh // Dec 13, 2012 at 2:04 PM

Are we absolutely that the clause is triggered on receipt of a £7m bid or could it be that that figure’s not just a minimum bid and any bid must be acceptable to NUFC ala Neil Taylor and our £1m release clause bid which was rejected by Swansea last window?
