Pardew – We’ll Bring One Or Two Players In Next Month

10:01 am, Friday, December 14th, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 26 Comments

Alan Pardew has talked about bringing some new players into the club next month during the January transfer window, but he’s not talking about a lot of players coming in – just one or two.

A worried Alan Pardew and John Carver last Monday night

Newcastle’s amazing slump has coincided with the squad sustaining a number of injuries to some of our top players like Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor, but a lot of our players are also nowhere near their form of last season.

This is what Alan said about the possibility of bringing new players into the club next month:

“On our side we look weak with the injuries we have sustained and we may need to bring in a player or two.” . “We are in the market, as I’m sure a few other clubs will be.

“Mike has been very supportive and I want to look him in the eye with great results under my belt, but at the minute I can’t. I’m looking at him in the eye and I’ve got tricky results.”

“He understands that and has been very supportive and now we look to the window hopefully and we may need some assistance in that but we will see.”

“It would be nice to get one or two back, Steven Taylor and Yohan Cabaye around our first team, and hopefully bring one or maybe two players in the window if we can.”

“We’re a good side that is under-performing and there are reasons for that, but we can’t accept that. We have to work and we are working as hard as we can to turn the situation in our favor.”

We’d like to see three good players come through the door next month, but we also realize it’s not an ideal time when good players are usually available.

But there was news in the French daily L’Equipe yesterday that we would be bringing in Moussa Sissoko, and that would be a great start, especially if we can the 23 year-old through the door very early next month.

What do you think?

1 player well if its not messi or ronaldo I will be fuming as 1 player is not enough we need at least 3 I guess he has been to see mike and told he is getting virtualy nothing yet again I hate transfer windows I used to get excited by them and all the rumours now I am just worried about them

I’d like more than one or two but I’d take that comment with a pinch of salt.

I’m sure pardew will get more if he can.

He obviously wont want to build up our expectations saying we will get 4-5 and he also wont want to let other sides know we are desperate for a lot of players.

Here we go again – “one or two players”.
We need three or four and that’s just for starters.
Is this manager an idiot or has he just entirely caved in to Ashley?
Of course Ashley has been ‘supportive’ of Ashley. He gave him nothing to play with in the Summer transfer window so he has no other choice really.
Sorry lads but don’t hold your hopes out for much coming in here. As far as Ashley’s concerned, why change the habits of a lifetime?
One or two players? I’m sure our star performers will be very impressed with that.

If Mashley can look Pards in the eye and blatantly tell him one thing then do another as soon as Pards announces it to the world, then Parts should have the balls to stare him right in the face and tell him to get his fu##in wallet out of his big fat pocket.

Ed you should do 2 new polls for January. First one saying how many SHOULD we sign in January? And the second saying how many do we think we ACTUALLY WILL sign in January? If anything it would be interesting to see how how much support and belief there is in the owner, and how sceptical we all really are

2 players would be the minimum.

A CB and a full back, both with plenty of experience a d quality though.

That would do me but ideally get a few more.

2 woukd. Be enough if they are the right two. If they don’t need to bed into pl games over a long time that would be good. We should have Cabs back by feb and hopefully saylor can be back and last the season, that will help no end. Also, ahem, obertan is a missing option for us in hindsight. I’m sure the selective viewers will not think that but he has speed and good footwork, especially his passing play, that keeps opposition defences busy in the latter stages of a game.

If we get some ready- to – rumble personnel in we could do an everton style surge end of season and may just keep our heads above water in EL for a good run.

Consistant with the attitude of the owner towards the club – 1 or 2 players in, Ba out for sure.
If the club is relegated, which is a possibility, I am convinced Ashley has the parachute payment in mind, then bounce back the following year. Nothing lost – financially.
Ashley and Pardew are heading towards uneasy times with the fans. Do they know this? Yes
    Are they bothered? No.

    Pathetic as usual!!!

Ill take one or two signings and be very happy with that in January, I don’t want anymore because the quality available in January isn’t necessarily what we are looking for, it’s the sticking plaster window, the window when desperation creeps in, I’d rather wait until the summer for any major refurbishment.

We have some very big games coming up and everyone seems doom and gloom about where we are, the team needs encouragement not constantly criticised, as fans we are in this together with the squad, we won’t go down, but we are not gestating the world alight either… Does anyone remember Norwich getting beat a SJP then turning over arsenal and UTD to start there surge up the table.

Minus the pessimism we can do the same!

    TTBAWA!!!

  • 14 Tsunki // Dec 14, 2012 at 10:29 AM

Well said. Lots of games to play yet.

  • 15 mfarmer85 // Dec 14, 2012 at 10:31 AM

I’d want us to take two as a minimum and like Transfer Sage says, a CB and a FB is a absolute must. The rest of the players we need will hopefully come in the form or players returning from injury.

We need Cabaye to come back and hit the ground running; his injury was a blessing in some ways as he was out of form and still being picked. Hopefully now we can get him back and battling for his place.

Whilst there isnt much quality in January, surely the likes of Tom Ince are worth signing seeing his out of contract in the summer!?

  • 16 south coast toon // Dec 14, 2012 at 10:34 AM

i think they need 4, but more importantly they have got to get the sloppy gits we got to put in the whole hearted performances of last season .we need our best players to start performing big time, cause we can get messi and ronaldo in but if they play out of position or with the same effort as some it would be wasted money

  • 17 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 14, 2012 at 11:01 AM

If we sign Alderewerield and Debuchy and agree a pre-contract with Sissokho and have the Remy deal in the pipeline for next summer, I’ll be satisfied.

  • 18 Ian Magpie // Dec 14, 2012 at 11:09 AM

Those who think 3 or 4 players will be coming in in the January transfer window are living in cloud cuckoo land!! Three purple players = 18 million minimum + 5 million each for the wages to cover their contacts (our board likes to take account of wages up front). Theres another 15 million = 33 million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cuckoo Cuckoo Cuckoo!! Sorry for sounding a pessimist lads but I just can’t see it and this board let us and the manager down badly in the summer! They have form and can and will do it again! I just prey to god that I am wrong!

  • 19 oldbobaycliffe // Dec 14, 2012 at 11:24 AM

at the end of last season we let 4 players leave smith, best guthrie and one other olayer sorry cant remember his name(they say senile dementia creeps up on you mines coming on a 500cc norton)anyway we only brought in anita so to make the squad to what it was 2011/2012 we are three down already so with simpson and ba leaving? pardew needs to think again

  • 20 ryan24 // Dec 14, 2012 at 11:55 AM

Look at QPR and Man City, both have proved that buying a whole new squad in one go isnt the best idea. Man City won the league but still cant get close to the Champions League, they have a squad of 11 individuals rather than a proper team.

1 or 2 in January and maybe 3-5 in the summer, possibly trim out some of the crap as well.

  • 21 wynsleap // Dec 14, 2012 at 12:03 PM

Ianmagpie @ 18 – why do we have to have 3 players each at £6m? I thought Carr was the genius at bringing in top players at reasonable sums? Or is that another myth?
And please don’t go on about ‘purple’ players. That’s a stupid description thought up by our equally stupid Managing Director.

  • 22 south coast toon // Dec 14, 2012 at 12:17 PM

    you might be right magpie
but just cant see that ashley will let things slip and will know we need a cb a defender at the very least and some flair on wings and midfield, i believe he was going to spend money in the summer but wasnt paying more than there worth, someone told him anita was worth 6-7,pieters,douglas, sousoko, diame, debuchy there all abit cheaper than you think now, 3 of them wanted to come before,we fell short by 2 or 3 signings in the summer, i think we are going to get a couple of surprises soon….keep taking the tablets

  • 23 Spreadthetoon // Dec 14, 2012 at 12:25 PM

looking fwd to ano cr*p tfr window then! “look Mike in the eye” what a load of sh*te!! This is a complete joke, if we do not land at least 3 players and really we need 4 then we’re in trouble! FFS!!!!!

  • 24 Ian Magpie // Dec 14, 2012 at 1:08 PM

Ok Wynsleap………….fair comment! So say……..Lets knock it down to 10 million for three players (we need more). A good striker, CB and a full back! Add the wages and it will still come out at around 20 -25 million! Do you still think Dastardly and Muttly will fork out that kind of money?…………………………………….I dont! I want to believe but can’t so as south coast toon says…I will just have to keep taking the tablets!lol Just really hope I am wrong!!

  • 25 oldbobaycliffe // Dec 14, 2012 at 2:41 PM

ian magpie-a lot of people on here keep repeating the ashley rubbish about including the players wages with the transfer fee as a lump sum the wages are paid over the length of his contract and we are one of the few clubs that pay the transfer fee up front if we are so hard up we should do what the rest do pay the fee over a longer period.

What we need is ACTION and not WORDS, Lets review the situation on February 1st to see what actually happened,
