Even though we have been without Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor for a while now, and the news yesterday that Ben Arfa is out until next year with a hamstring injury, Newcastle should still have the quality of players to keep winning games (now and then), but out record over the last 11 games overall and seven games in the Premier League is worrying to say the least.
Alan Pardew – will have to jeep the players’ spirits high
We have lost six of our last seven league games and are now in 15th position in the league table, and the next four games are against QPR(h), Manchester United and Arsenal away and Everton at home – so how many points do you think we’ll get out of those games?
The problem seems to be with so many injuries to our experienced players, the youngsters and fringe players at Newcastle just haven’t come through, but also some of our starting players have not been anywhere near their best form, and they include Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Jonas Gutierrez and Papiss Cisse to name just four.
The problem we see is that as Newcastle suffer more defeats, it starts to affect the players’ confidence, and once we concede the first goal in game, some players may think – here we go again – and that’s what happened when we were relegated in 2009.
To be fair to our players – that didn’t happen on Saturday – and our players did not give up the fight once we were 2-0 down at half-time – Newcastle were great in that second half with Vurnon Anita outstanding, but then we shot ourselves in the foot again by conceding another awful goal with the score at 2-1, and yet another chance to pick up points was lost.
Newcastle players will have to keep their spirits high, and our defense will need to improve a lot – and quickly too – if we are prevent dropping even further down the league.
As the hole gets deeper – it’s always harder to climb out of it – so we had better start winning some games soon – starting at home to QPR on Saturday – otherwise we could be in a relegation scrap this season.
What do you think?

Comment #1With regard to that last post about ba and what he said about arsenal, whilst I want him to show commitment, who would want to commit to a club losing all its games??
Does a world class striker want to be playing in the championship?? I don’t think we will get relegated but, if I was in ba’s position I might want a transfer, at the way that we are going

Comment #2Couldn’t be more right about the loss of confidence, Ed.
This season, we can’t catch a break, and have conceded first quite often. Takes mountains of willpower to push through a game like that. The younger players aren’t ready to carry the burden of relegation threats, we need more 1st team players.
I’m hoping we can get 5 points from these next 3 games.

Comment #3How about this LADS as a team for after January:
—————————Cisse—————————
Remy———————————————–HBA
————–Sissoko————-Cabaye————–
—————————Tiote—————————
Santon—–Colo—————–Douglas——Anita
—————————-Krul—————————-
Subs:
Elliot, Raylor, Saylor, Jonas, Marveaux, Obertan, Shola
This team would concentrate on the play-making side of things. In-cooperate our forgotten 4-3-3 and would focus on wingers and pace. Anita is also a very good full-back and could be brought in to defensive midefield in the place of sissoko if we are coming under pressure and need to play defensive.
Out:
Ba – £7M
Simpson – £2.5M
In:
Remy – £11M
Douglas – £2.5M
Sissoko – £2M
Is MA gave Wor’ Pards, the money for Cisse (around £10M), then why wouldn’t he spend £11M or so, on Loic Remy?
Seems like good business to me! 😉
Also, can’t Demba Ba’s release clause only be activated by a club in the champion’s league. By that reckoning, Liverfool, Spuds, and QPR (Quality Players Ruined.) are all out of the race???!!!

Comment #5Wreker – In answer to your question, “who would want to commit to a team losing all its games?” The answer is EVERYBODY !!! They don’t play the game solely for the love and enjoyment, they are being paid ridiculous amounts of money to do a job !! So whether you are top of the league or rock bottom of the conference – you should be 100% committed to the cause!
If your not – then don’t let the door hit you on the way out ! I’d rather have a group of players who play and work for eachother, than money spinning big timers out for all they can get !
