Poll – LLambias, Ashley Main Culprits For Magpies’ Demise

10:05 am, Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 38 Comments

In our poll we put up yesterday,  with over 1100 votes in – Newcastle fans think the main reason we are in the mess we are at the moment is because of a lack of investment in the club last summer, and the failure to bring in more than one player (Vurnon Anita) to Tyneside.

LLambias and Ashley - fans point the finger at these two

Here are the results of our poll so far, and you still have time to vote if you haven’t already done so.

What's The Main Reason For Newcastle's Dramatic Slump?

And while a number of our readers are pointing to Alan Pardew for not getting the best out of the players he has available, only 12% think that’s the main reason we are struggling so much this season.

The second major reason is that some of our best players are not playing anywhere near the form they showed last season, and that’s a concern.

Of course all four reasons play some part in Newcastle’s demise this season, but the main one seems to be the lack of new players arriving in the summer.

We’ll see if Derek Llambias and Mike Ashley can correct the situation next month.

I don’t agree, so no vote

  • 3 Santon03 // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:09 AM

    Sorry actually I vote #4 :P

  • 4 rainrix // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:10 AM

i wouldn’t say they were the main culprits, its been a lot of different factors adding up to one big problem. Lack of players coming in, europa league messing up our PL preparation, injuries, ba being a whiny little b!tch, playing a system that doesn’t work. The list is as long as your arm really.

What do you figure MA is smiling at? His club or the Sports Direct stock ticker?

  • 6 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:11 AM

Santon….What do you think is the missing factor from the poll?

Graeme….Tbh, it was good to get a sensible idea of what the majority thought, it can get lost in the comments section at times. I am aware it’s the majority of users of this blog only, but still.

  • 7 Graeme // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:13 AM

Do we now get them put in the stocks to be pelted with Grainger Market left overs?? Festive frivolities from days gone by lol.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer pair!!

  • 8 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:13 AM

    Norcal….Probably thinking about food.

Santon…Which was number 4, the order changes after you vote?

  • 9 Santon03 // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:13 AM

    Ibiza

AP 8 years contract = no pressure to do well

  • 10 rainrix // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:13 AM

    Torq, from last topic

I hope thats true mate seeing as its our main market. If we got remy i imagine our stock would rise even higher :)

  • 11 bosamuelson // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:13 AM

    What a crock of Sh!t,

Sorry Ed, but there was no option to select called ‘non of the above’. It is a combination of them all, including Ba unsettling the troops with his BS release clause. The harmony was lost!

This type of article on damages the club, getting a bit of fan hate going around again.

    Get Promoted

Last Season 12/13: Stabalize club in Prem

This season 13/14: Get into Europe

Next Season 14/15: Have a go in Europe – more stabilizing

Season 15/16: Build in Prem out of Europe

Season 16/17: Become more established in Prem with regular Europe

This is the type of structure that is going on. Any fast track will not work!!!

Undue pressure and sh!t stirring will not do anyone any good!!!!!

Ian Toon ,Walcott has turned down a five year deal with 75K a week, what’s the point in even speculating. In hindsight this season was always going to be a write off,had we been in a top eight position not far off top six and relatively injury free, come January we would have heard the usual nonsense about the quality we have in the building and how difficult it is to get players over the line in January our real targets in the summer yatter yatter ,Taylor would have imploded the usual injuries and suspensions would have mounted and the shattered morale due to lack of ambition would have set in,so basically our season would have crumbled later rather than sooner.

  • 13 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:14 AM

Santon…Fair enough. Hope you’re wrong though.

Graeme…Great fund raising plan. We’ll pay to throw things at Llambias and they can use that money for new players. Win win!

  • 14 Santon03 // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:15 AM

    Ibiza

LOL I hope I’m wrong too

  • 15 Santon03 // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:17 AM

Seems like the only way to release AP from the contract is if we went down, I don’t want that

  • 16 89Norcal // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:17 AM

    Ibiza

hahaha should have considered that option too :D

  • 17 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:17 AM

Well unfortunatly it looks like demba is offski which like him or not its a shame because the lad is a goal scorer and thats something that we lack at the club
If remy is bought in then and played on the LW then i still think we need a young CF like gudietti bought in as it only leaves shola who would be a bit less effective without demba

    Ian toon from previous thread
Ba for walcott? Would be a cracking bit of buisness like but would walcott come here? And could we match his wages?

  • 18 Santon03 // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:18 AM

    I’m off, back later

  • 19 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:18 AM

Santon… Is that down to a clause you know of or the idea that Ashley would just pay him off if were relegated?

  • 20 bosamuelson // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:19 AM

    @Santoon

8 year deal has nothing to do with it!

These people are not bums, you don’t get to the top of anything by being a bum, that includes sitting and collecting your paycheck. We have seen a couple Xisco maybe (but he was an odd one).

Pardew wants to win, like 99.9% of all professionals, especially in football. You don’t get to where they are by thinking ah yea I have it easy, i’ll stop working. If nothing else but pride.

It will more to him to win NUFC a cup or consistent Europe than his paycheck, it is rediculous and balls to suggest it!!!! He would be an absolute hero and remembered by media and fans forever. He has that opportunity and we have the op. to get behind it.

Sorry this article has really p!ssed me off!!!!

  • 21 darrenfletcher88 // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:20 AM

I will be very surprised if we sign anyone in jan,we need 4 or 5,I can’t see any, qpr biggest game for a long time, just think if we don’t get back into Europe a lot of people will leave, qpr biggest game in modern history for me!!

  • 22 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:20 AM

Norcal…Whilst I know he loves his money, I’m guessing that’s just because it buys his food. There is only one true love ;)

  • 23 bosamuelson // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:20 AM

I’m telling, Demba going is a good thing. He is not good for the team!

  • 24 89Norcal // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:23 AM

    Ibiza

It also buys him an impressive double-chin. Jail would have his work cut out for him trying to strangle Mashley with that scarf lol :)

  • 25 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:23 AM

Bosamuelson…To be fair to Ed, he’s reporting a poll of our opinion and it does appear to be the popular topic of late.

I’m with you that doom mongering is not helpful, but there’s a line between that and discussing relative issues.

  • 26 Transfer Sage // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:24 AM

    Bosa

Some people do get complacent with job security.

Not saying pardew has done that but it does remove some pressure which might subconsciously knock 10% off his effort.

  • 27 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:25 AM

Norcal….Maybe the double chin has built in safe? Or quick bake oven, not sure which tbh.

I’m fairly confident Jail would find a way to get him, or maybe he’d just break down and give him a hug – i’m torn, it’s a 50/50 :)

  • 28 RonVanDam // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:28 AM

LET BA GO. NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB. HE’S SCORING AT CISSE’S EXPENSE. IF CISSE HAD BEEN PLAYING CF IN THE LAST 6 GAMES, I BET HE WOULDVE SCORED ATLEAST 5 GOALS. BA IS GREEDY IN AND OFF THE FIELD. I’LL BE HAPPY IF HE F%&KED OFF

  • 29 89Norcal // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:30 AM

    Ibiza,

Of course MA would do his own cooking, it’s his only exercise for the day and saves him a money for more Sports Direct banner ink!

BTW I’m reading reports that West Ham have set up 9m to acquire Remy, which means we look to be around pole position for his signature.

Also, Ba is apparently entertaining PSG as well.

  • 30 magpie rangers // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:30 AM

Ronvandam hahaha every village has one!!

“You can’t wait to get rid of ba”??
In doing that it’ll probably cut or odds or relegation from 8/1 now to 4/1.
I’m sick of reading that when cisse plays down the middle he’ll start scoring again, the bloke can’t hit a bar door at the moment, eg the sitter against city just after we scored, and I think it was demba that crossed the ball from the right for him.

People keep banging on about the 4-3-3 we played so well last season and why we’re not playing this because of dembe being selfish, are these people telling me the pardew is giving in to demba? Last season the 4-3-3 worked because the WHOLE team was playing well, not just one or two the only player who’s done himself justice this season is demba and some idiots want rid!!!

  • 31 Jail for Ashley // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:33 AM

    Boumsong,
So what your saying is that Mashleys lack of investment was another stroke of genius to knock us back a year or two so that the five year plan can run smoothly.

  • 32 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Dec 18, 2012 at 10:33 AM

Ibiza- I just think there are better teams than arsenal this year. Its not because I dont think theyre good,
Manure, Citeh, Chelski, Spuds, Everton and Arsenal are competing for the top 4. It looks like it might be a close league this year, I just have a feeling they wont be in top4.

    My predicions,
    1.UTD
    2. Citeh
    3. Chelski
    4. Spuds
    5. Arsenal
    6. Everton

I think we will finish around 9th

    Relegated: Any three of:
    QPR
    Reading
    Southampton
    Villa
    Mackems
    Wigan

Ed you say ” The main one seems to be the lack of new players arriving in the summer. We’ll see if Derek Lambias and Mike Ashley can correct the situation next month”
Yeah and we’ll see if I can win the Euro Millions, buy a Lamborghini and date Kelly Brook at the same time.
Pardew has already said today they are hoping to bring in one new player in January.
Beggars belief doesn’t it if he and Ashley think that is going to rescue this sad season.

  • 34 Graeme // Dec 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM

Wyns – so all I need now is to win the euromillions then!! Do I get a prize? lol

  • 35 brian kilclines pony tail // Dec 18, 2012 at 11:09 AM

the main difference this season is the lack of hard work, I realise that we have had europe to contend with but the energy levels in the last few league games have been much improved and makes me wonder what the team has been doing for the majority of the season.

This points to one of two things:
    1) the players were over confident after last season and a ‘we can just turn up and win’ mentality has/had set in.
    B) it was a tactic for our team to sit off and absorb pressure due to the extra games and small squad, the idea being less injuries and suspensions due to not pressuring teams as much.

Either way this is pardews fault from a team management perspective.

However if these are tactics then they have been employed by management due to a lack of investment from the owner then pardew should not be held accountable.

If it is the owner there is nothing we can do about it anyway because he dosnt give a crap about the club, and that is the biggest shame of it all.

  • 36 andyball // Dec 18, 2012 at 11:41 AM

Are we back to Ashley bashing again!!!! I would rather us wait until the right time to buy someone and not waste money (like we have done historically) on players such as Luque, Marcelino etc just to please the fans. Topping last season was always going to be tough and I like the way we are building, yes we need some more players in but I want to see the correct players come in for the correct price, not just any old player because we are desperate.

  • 37 lesh // Dec 18, 2012 at 5:33 PM

Norcal – What do I figure MA is smiling at? His club or the Sports Direct stock ticker?

Neither Norcal, it’s wind in his case and in Llambias’ case, well, he’s smiling ‘cos MA’s smiling!

  • 38 toonluvva // Dec 18, 2012 at 11:16 PM

As long as LLambias has anything to do with the Toon we are in deep trouble in my opinion. I believe that if Ashley was to get shot of him and bring in someone who knows about football then we might start getting somewhere.
