We’ve been very happy with the excellent form now being shown by Vurnon Anita, as he tries to fill the big gap left by the injury to Newcastle’s top central midfielder Yohan Cabaye. But we’ve been just as impressed by the Dutchman’s temperament and interviews too – and he comes over as a down to earth guy who tells it as it is, and his outlook on the game is simply first class.
Vurnon Anita – good player – excellent attitude
News reports lately are probably making more of Yohan Cabaye’s absence than is warranted, and surely the absence of one player cannot have the massive impact that at least Steven Taylor’s and Cabaye’s absence seem to have had on our side.
It;s also due to our other players playing nowhere near their top form – and they need to improve too.
Vurnon Anita is aware that’ it’s not up to the rest of our players to step up to the plate – something the Dutch international has been doing for the last six weeks or so with some outstanding performances in a black and white shirt.
This is what Anita said in the local press today:
“Yohan is a really good player for us, an important player, but unfortunately he is not here right now.” “We must deal with this and other players need to step up.”
“Yohan is more attacking player than our other midfielders.” “He brings a lot of creativity, just like Hatem Ben Arfa, who showed that at Fulham.”
“We definitely miss Yohan and we all hope he will be back sooner rather than later because he’s a top player.”
We need more players like Vurnon right now – those who are willing to take the responsibility and help send Newcastle back up the league to safety – and as far as my heart goes – the sooner the better. 😀

Comment #11Well then, feel a little indifferent about that. Considering quality we should be okay, not the big name fixture many were hoping for though.
Roll on February.

Comment #30I think the draw’s been good to us, even the last 16 draw too. We’ve been given a chance to get to the last 8 I think, will we take that chance, I hope so.

Comment #31If we want to win this then that is a great draw! Tough for Spurs. Can’t see anyone getting past Chelsea though.

Comment #33@MacToon – I think that is how supporters see it. Pardew and the club on the other hand I think see it very differently, they will not be happy. I think it has all but ensured a run out for the reserves, nobody at the club wants a long trip to Ukraine and then potentially Russia.
