Demba Ba’s Move To Arsenal – Betting Is Now Odds On

8:45 am, Saturday, December 22nd, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 36 Comments

We’d still be very surprised if Demba Ba leaves Newcastle next month, but some betting has him odds on to join Arsenal next month – so maybe they know something that we don’t.

Demba Ba – odds on he’ll move

It seems that Demba Ba’s release clause will become active in every transfer window until he either leaves and joins another club, or else his three year contract runs out in eighteen months time – so it seems his agents one way or another are determined top get a good deal for their client – and of course lots of money for themselves.

This is what Alan Pardew said about the contract on Thursday at his press conference for the QPR game:

“It’s unfortunate that the contract he has leaves open a lot of questions because we have this clause and every window that comes around, I have to answer the same questions.”

“It would be disappointing for him to leave in this window for this club and for his team-mates here, but the decision will be his, ultimately, because that clause is there.”

The odds of Demba Ba moving to Arsenal next month have been cut to 1-2 by Sky Bet – with Liverpool next in the queue at 6-1 – so at least they think he’s going to leave Newcastle next month.

If Demba Ba leaves Newcastle in January for a top club like Arsenal, then he has shown no loyalty at all to the Tyneside club, and it’s hard not to think he’s just looking for the best deal – with no thoughts at all about Newcastle.

But whenever we hear Demba talk,  he seems a decent guy and seems to like it at Newcastle – so it’s hard to know what to think sometimes.

But if he does leave Newcastle it will be terrible for the club, and for a player of Demba Ba’s standing to leave Newcastle in the lurch in mid season is not good – we’ll leave it at that for the moment.

We need a win today against QPR and things may look just a little bit brighter on Tyneside.

In the end it’s for the best

If Ba is leaving in January, it is not the right time for Pardew to piss Cisse off by issuing threats about his goalscoring over the next two games. Who said that Pardew had man management skills, I do not think so.

  • 6 Rotonda heights // Dec 22, 2012 at 8:58 AM

I think routledge, tevez, mascherano, marveaux etc may not think pardew has great man management skills

no points ba to go world – not being rude but sorry I can’t understand that bit.

Hilarious my partner was watching pardew on the bbc
and she said at the end why is he only talking about the other team

  • 7 Dannyo // Dec 22, 2012 at 8:59 AM

Ba one way and Remy the other, not unlikely at all.

  • 8 WWYCD // Dec 22, 2012 at 8:59 AM

Betting story? Howay man betting means bugger all

  • 9 Rotonda heights // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:00 AM

so remy comng was the usual bs then? marceille don’t want to sell and it would cost us 15m

  • 10 WWYCD // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:03 AM

Why is it such a bad thing Pards said Cisse needs to start scoring? Not sure how people can disagree he’s a striker offering very little in the way of goals or even getting in the positions to get goals regularly

  • 11 south coast toon // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:06 AM

if he gos to arsenal its all about money, the difference between us an arsenal is they regularly sell there best players if they didmt they could be at the top of the league.ashleys done good on transferes out.but now he needs to send aclear message to the team and fans and get some bodys over the line otherwise loosing ba could be the least of our probs,

Same 5h1t different day. Odds respond to betting actions, you putting this article up increases public awareness it could happen and off goes someone else to the bookies believing the media and it goes on. Wasn’t we odds on to sign gervinho?

Don’t care about any of that speculative rubbish when we have a game in 6 hours. Anything other than a win and it won’t appease fans, some will put a positive face on but it won’t last with two hard away games next.

If a player wants more money a club either gives in and pays him what he wants (Rooney) or sells him (Van Persie and many other Arsenal players it seems).

If Ba wants more money and if substantially more than what captain Colo gets then to me it’s time to sell Ba as his attitude will disrupt and disturb the dressing room and undermine the captain’s authority. Colo has shown an absolute loyalty to the club, the fans and his fellow players and shouldn’t be undermined.

With the get out clause in Ba’s contract there is going to be a constant pantomime every transfer window. Selling him may resolve Cisse’s problem and hasten the purchase of a replacement who can gell better with Cisse than Ba ever did.

SouthCoastToon if he goes to Arsenal he might not win out but he will certainly finish higher than us, we’re squabbling over one maybe two players according to Alan a week ago, Arsenal have built up a healthy financial reserve to play with this window and the pressure is on Wenger to spend some of it. We finished fifth once, that doesn’t mean we are on a par with arsenal. They are consistently top four even though many thought they would drop out. We have the potential to be up there consistently but cut our noses off to spite our faces, never known us take so long to sign the players needed for key position.

  • 17 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:19 AM

    South Coast Toon
Dont think it means that at all tbf
Arsenal dont pay overly huge wages, thats why there big names are always leaving, if he wen’t to say QPR then aye its all about cash but if he went to arsenal for about 75k a week then you gotta say thats a fair wage fir his calibure of CF and will be playing regularly in the CL cant blame him for ambition like

Out of intrest id QPR dud come in can they trigger his clause? Thought it was only CL teams?

Just a wild guess but maybe it’s because Cisse, a natural hitman, is being played as a right winger.

The thing with pardew is that even if he finally get’s the formation right, he still puts players in the wrong position.

With either 343 / 4231 / 433 we could put out some really attacking teams full of flair and pace, but pardew just won’t do it.

I was really pleased when it was suggested he may finally drop one of Ba and Cisse as I thought it may mean obi and Marv either side of one of them but no
it just meant Cisse being dropped to play shola in a 442.

Llambias will continue to screw up any transfer hopes and pardew is a one trick pony.

  • 19 Indian Magpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:22 AM

PARDEW talking about CISSE and that he needs to score goals.

Never heard him talking about Jonas and his assists or is he judged on falling down.

  • 20 geordie157 // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:22 AM

I’m surprised Chelsea don’t want him. Hope he stays, but i would like to see Remy signed regardless of what happens with Ba.

Centre back is a must. Then plus anyone from Boileson, Corchia, Debuchy, Sissoko, Boudebouz, Ince would be a good addition.

  • 21 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:23 AM

In all fairness its not like cisse has played RW all season were talking like 5 games

  • 22 Rotonda heights // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:23 AM

nobody else would pay the wages colo gets here let’s be honest

  • 23 Rotonda heights // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:25 AM

yes but to would it kill pardew to rotate them in their right position

  • 24 Indian Magpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:26 AM

    More SH!T

  • 26 WWYCD // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:27 AM

Cisse has played most of his games this season centrally with Ba and he did next to nothing its only recently he’s been shifted onto the wing can’t blame his lack of games on him being on the wing imo the blokes not performed all season

I agree one should be dropped but atm its Cisse that needs dropping

    Indian Magpie
So u know that Cisse and Jonas are identical characters and thus should be treated the same? U Also know what Pard says in private to each player

  • 27 Indian Magpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:29 AM

I am only going on face value of waht is being published

  • 28 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:29 AM

Of course not but cisse has played a good 10 games upfront and looked so short of form and missed a few sitters like dont think its exclusivly down to pards, a few want to see our top scorer dropped so at the same time i see no harm in challenge cisse to find his scoring boots

  • 29 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:33 AM

How is that sh1t? Explains alot about jonas’s performances

  • 30 WWYCD // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:33 AM

    Indian Magpie
Well my friend maybe u should consider it in a larger view. Pards and his coaches work with the lads every day and know them better than all of us

Questioning his man management implies u know each player as well as the coaches and understand how to motivate every one of the individually

  • 31 seantoon // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:35 AM

Let’s start playing Cisse through the middle then. Get him firing in the goals and build his confidence up for when ba leaves in 2-3 week

  • 32 Marty-Toon // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:53 AM

It’s about time he left as this is annoying every time the window opens.
We’ll miss him badly though,he’s kept this team looking somewhat dangerous.
No guarantee of goals with Cisse or Loic if he comes…hopefully Cisse will start thumping them in by the bucket load.
I must say I agree with BA(if he actually said it) about Arsenals style of play over ours.
We have looked a disgrace of a championship side this year apart from Cabaye and Benny at times, although we’ve began to play some nice stuff now.

  • 33 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:58 AM

Think he should be allowed to leave as this whole BA saga is depressing me!

  • 34 HullMag6 // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:11 AM

Offer a swap Giroud for Ba. Sign Remy, then strengthen defence.

  • 35 GeordieMike // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:23 AM

Whilst I accept Pards and his coaches work with the team day in day out…….tho difficult to see WHAT they are working on at the minute! History has the habit of repeating itself Pardew is not a good man manager as West Ham Southampton amongst others would testify? He is in fact a none trick pony ….But I will still be there today supporting them -never booing and always encouraging as long as they give 100 percent

  • 36 Made a ma beed // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:49 AM

Arsenal are not going to sign him.
