Quality bit of skill from shola.

  • 2 bottle // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:07 PM

Well Toon Trolls bet you’re miserable now.
Who was it wanted us to lose ????
    We got THREE points.

Get yer heids back out yer jaxsies and quit whinging.
    Try supporting the Toon.

  • 3 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:11 PM

Great finish Shola, I was saying when he came on that the fact that he is our only option up front in terms of substitutes made me question the quality of our squad but when he comes up with finishes like that I will gladly eat my words.

Well done Wor Shola, you have saved us once again 😉

(Any thoughts on his finish Indian Magpie?)

  • 4 Oleg G // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:11 PM

Ba should’ve been benched and not Cisse
Jonas should be on bench already for months. Marv should play instead of Perch and Obe to try instead of Jonas. When Cabaye and HBA are back, we should not be playing with Jonas as a starter.
Marv HBA and Cabaye should be our midfielders. Why Marv doesn’t get any chances at Newcastle?

Simpson thinks he is HBA sometimes.

  • 5 Fostino // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:14 PM

eye opener today…..jonas place on the team has to be under threat

obertan or marv all should be ahead of him. obertan attacking threat was key….hopefully he can stay consistent.

i was a bit worried about perch over marv but the lad keeps putting in great performances

ba ameobi partnership for nxt game. cisse from the bench.

  • 6 BelfastMagpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:14 PM

We looked a lot better when we put the attacking players on.

Why we played such a defensive team against Qpr is a mystery.

  • 7 Blaydon-Toon // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:14 PM

Yes yes yes thank f for that … Did not watch the game but so happy to have the 3 points in the bag 🙂 🙂 🙂

  • 8 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:15 PM

Got the three points and that was the number one thing today. We’ve been in a right slump for many reasons, it’s not going to be sorted over night. Performance was lacking until the subs came along, all three made an impact, but I do think some are hyping Marv a little too much, Obertan was far influential on the game imo. Marveaux does have something to offer though, he has a spark.

Ba was driving me mad today. He could learn a thing or two from wor Shola about being a team player. Not sure how he can be enjoying his football at the minute, seems to alienate himeself. Still, appreciate the goals, but give your head a wee shake.

Those who wanted us to lose or have a player not able to play due to injury – really?

  • 9 manxpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:15 PM

so pardews subs change the game completely but i’m not betting on any praise for him at all!
and again people saying marv should start coz he played well when he came on, it was a perfect time in the game for him and ober to come into it was always gonna be a cagey game the pressure on that team today was immense!
great goal by shola where’s catchy btw!

  • 10 Fostino // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:15 PM

jonas possibly at lb and santon to right could be an option.

  • 11 josh // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:17 PM

Please keep slating shola please catchy, Indian. Cause I am more than happy for him to win us the game and you having to eat every last vowel and consonant of your words. GET IN SHOLA.

  • 12 manxpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:17 PM

yeah ibiza best fans in the world tho remember?

  • 13 89Norcal // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:17 PM

Am I missing something? Why were we so poor today after that fluid display vs City?

I know QPR played defensively, but we were static for 60 mins

  • 14 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:19 PM

My feelings towards Ba are descending towards hatred, for what he is doing to the side, for his greed, his domination of the CF position when we have proper team players being sacrificed for him is a disgrace.

I like Pardew but on this issue he has and is getting it wrong. Ba needs to be sold ASAP, if he is still a NUFC player come February I will be questioning Pardew’s judgements of what players are good for the club and what players are not.

  • 15 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:19 PM

I’m a bit frustrated that we were defensive and went for the steal at the end at home to QPR. However, confidence is down and maybe the general feeling was getting the 3points and getting back on track was the most important thing.

Doesn’t really matter though, we needed the points, we got the points. HWTL.

  • 16 josh // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:20 PM

@89NORCAL. better to play guff and get 3 points than play well and get nothing mate.

  • 17 bottle // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:21 PM

Make that Debuchy and Santon as FBs and Guti as sub..
A lot of players get to that point of decline in their careers and Jonas is just about there now.

  • 18 Fostino // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:21 PM

ba goals has stopped us from being in the relegation zone..i cant understand people slating him. in terms of his attitude on the pitch…hes been great. hes the man in a manager, you dont think kind of player off if your searching for a goal.

  • 19 Blaydon-Toon // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:22 PM

Ruddy noticed a late night post by Jail last night saying he priced flights for the home game v ReAding did you see that ?

  • 20 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:23 PM

Are you being serious? His attitude is great? Would be interesting if someone could get me Ba’s goals/shots ratio, I fear it would make pretty grim reading.

  • 21 Fostino // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:23 PM

i agree..particularly wingers. ya debuchy and santon as wbs would be extremely good

  • 22 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:23 PM

    Really important 3 points today.

I thought we played well in defence and midfield but had no end product for large portions of te game. I feel sorry for cisse, and I personally would have taken ba off as it didnt look like he was playing well in the cf position. But you can’t take the inform striker off.

Pardew won the game today. I hope he gets all the praise he deserves. Set the team up right IMO, and his substitutions won it.

It was never going to be a pretty game, but an important three points.

Now, off to old Trafford, 6-0 the toon! 🙂

  • 23 Big Pappa Cissé // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:23 PM

Always thought Shola is a half decent player on his day but definitely not a starter. Also it really annoys me that Pardew has told Cisse he has to get goals or else he will be dropped, only to play him on the right wing. Any manger that does that you have to start questioning their ability as a coach IMO

  • 28 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:24 PM

Manx….It’s a shame. There’s a way to vent frustration without that tripe. We’re supposed to be better than that.

Ruddy….I’ve been sticking up for him a fair bit, but today was ridiculous. He did play some bits out on the LW, but his attitude was extremely questionable and there does appear to be something between him and the players – most likely wondering why he’s still getting star treatment if he’s off. Maybe this was a better game for Cisse to come off though? We’ve seen Ba and Shola work well together before and needed a goal and got one. Granted Ba had nothing to do with it, but I think you get me.

It does look like he’s gone in January.

  • 29 manxpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:24 PM

and willo had a solid game btw won everything but again i’m betting on no praise for him at all again

  • 30 Tinman // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:25 PM

Our team is always going to lack fluidity when we play 2 defensive midfielders and 2 immobile wingers… For me, we got lucky today. Told you it would be another poor performance. QPR were dire and we created jack all except for when the game got stretched at the end!

  • 31 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:25 PM

I did see that, although I wondered was he taking a pop shot at me about me not being from Newcastle/not been at SJP before. (btw I lived in Newcastle for a year when we were down in the fizzy pop and I was at every home game that season)

Perhaps he is being genuine and I may look into it as I’d love to get back over but maybe he was being sarky haha

  • 32 L.ARAVIND // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:25 PM

great great and great win…we were bit shaky in the first half but went on prove that we are better than what we are at the moment…HATS OFF!!!SHOLA…..hitting a winning goal in his 350th app is something special and laudable….FLY HIGH…..

  • 34 bottle // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:25 PM

It’s called grieving. Lots of fans slag off their former heroes when they think they are about to leave or when they do leave.
Suddenly they’re not quite so good or the worst players we ever had or have some amazing personality flaws so we’re glad to be rid.
Ba’s been great for us but we do need a team that gels for the front two or three. Everyone is replaceable (except the fans)

  • 35 Fostino // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:26 PM

on the pitch you cant fault the player. i do believe that no player is bigger than club and if were going to spend every transfer window specalating about his departure then i sooner him gone. ..but lets be honest, his goals have been priceless this season

  • 36 Tinman // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:26 PM

Manxpie, Willo and Collo did both have solid games but tbh they had nowt to do. Still I dont mind not noticing our CBs performance means they must be doing something right!

Didn’t manage to watch the game today – was out. Can someone tell me who were good and bad? Sounds like we were comfortable but didn’t create much?

  • 40 belgrade fan // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:29 PM

What about to play Jonas next game on Tiotes place?? better than Perch?? what about that idea??

  • 41 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:29 PM

I am a resident of the North of Ireland good sir.

Things were looking awfully tense on the pitch, how he was allowed anywhere near those FKs is beyond me. He will most definitely be off in January and I say good riddance, it was coming to a head today and Cisse quite rightly was showing his anger.

  • 42 toonking // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:30 PM

how can ba not have a bad attitude when he is constantly threating to leave if he does not get his own way last summer he demanded being put back in a CF role now he demands 100K has contract clauses where ever he goes.
and now i think he is not trying his best to score. today he tried an over head kick when we were still 0-0 what was wrong with trying to head it?

  • 43 Fostino // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:30 PM

ya your right. i am getting a bit fed up with off the field antics and agents. i think cisse would probably benefit from his departure too and remy as replacement

  • 44 Tinman // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:31 PM

Jamie, pretty much same old story. Anita, Santon and Tiote were our best players. Marv, Ameobi and Obertan all had very postivie impacts from the bench. QPR created literally nowt, so Krul and defence were nice and quiet. Cisse put in a decent shift on RW but desperately struggles there. Ba for me was wasteful and quite poor today.

  • 45 Big Pappa Cissé // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:32 PM

Also is it any coincidence that Marveaux came on and within ten minutes we score ? . Jonas was poor today constantly falling over and misplacing passes all afternoon but will no doubt start against Manure because he is Pardews golden boy.

  • 46 Sinner // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:33 PM

    Matt Spiro ?@mattspiro
Mathieu Debuchy left out of squad by Lille today. Wants January move and has probably played his last game for club #NUFC #LOSC

Dont know if this been posted but hopefully we;ll get both Remy and Debuchy by the start of january! 😀

  • 47 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:33 PM

Even in games where he has scored his greed often costs us opportunities for other players.

He takes the selfish option every time and every once in a while that may end up in a goal but the other times he takes a ridiculous shot on and misses he passes up an opportunity for others to get on the score sheet.

I don’t think his goals have been as priceless as some would make out, if he wasn’t so greedy perhaps the goals he scored may be spread out more so across the board.

  • 48 manxpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:33 PM

tinman true but the abuse willo gets pisses me right off so when he deserves praise he shud get it imo, even collo was a waste of space and shud be replaced according to sum posters on ere!
    baztoon who’s this spiro fella?

  • 49 Jamiemac // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:34 PM

Thanks Tinman, nice to here Tiote had a decent game for a change!

  • 50 Blaydon-Toon // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:34 PM

Cheers Ruddy sorry for being nosey … My missus is from Dublin but not been to the north ! £83 return not bad it’s the same sort if price give or take to Dublin from stanstead ! Book it and I will come up catch a game with you !

  • 51 Fostino // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:34 PM

the player on the pitch who was most likely to score today was ba. if he had scored, we wouldnt be talking about ba’s attitude on the pitch. i dont think two bad free kicks can be pinpointed as a bad attitude.

  • 52 Tinman // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:35 PM

I couldnt believe when Ba was let near the 2nd free kick and went berzerk when he took the 3rd haha. 1st one was understandable as I remember he scored a good free kick last year

  • 53 BRABOT // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:35 PM

    Good evening
    Debuchy don t play to day againt Montpellier,perhaps a good new for Newcasllle;
Problem with (adducteurs) in french .

  • 54 Jamiemac // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:37 PM

The only issue I have with debuchey is that he is very attack minded like santon, this could leave us very exposed at the back

  • 55 manxpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:37 PM

looks like catchy’s gone into a deep deep depression coz we won hahaha i hope he stays off till after the new year to be honest

  • 56 toonking // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:38 PM

the next game i would like to see the midfield and forward line
    oba perch anita jonas/marvo
    cisse ameobi
we know it is 99% certain ba is going to leave so surely we don’t want to make cisse feel like a poor player and loose ba too because we will end up playing terrible.

  • 57 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:38 PM

Nah you’re not being nosey, it’s good to kind of get a picture of the people who are posting on here, if only for ammo to try and take them down haha

If that’s the right price that sounds like one hell of a deal, although me and Jail have had our spats in the past, he could be messing with me (sorry Jail if you’re being genuine haha) Well I must lookv into it and I will give you a shout if I manage to get it sorted, a cheeky bevvy or two and a frank discussion about all things NUFC coupled with 3 points sounds like a plan!

  • 58 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:40 PM

Ba looked like the last person on the pitch that was going to score! He was terrible. I am all for someone defending his record in the past, but please don’t defend him when he was nothing short of shocking today.

  • 59 Blaydon-Toon // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:41 PM

Sounds good to me … I have a taste for it after my jolly up for the Wigan game … Going without the missus sounds more like it beer football what’s not to like !

  • 60 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:43 PM

That’s right! You’re the lucky mascot! Get yourself to as many games as possible lad! haha

  • 61 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:44 PM

In all fairness fostino should be allowed to stick up for him after one bad game especially when ppl slate even after a good game

  • 62 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:48 PM

The issue with Ba today is less of a poor performance, more poor attitude and the increasing likelihood that he will be off in January and that Cisse is still being sacrificed, and that Ba is still being treated like the star man.

This will not be an isolated incident, it will happen time and time again until he is sold. People can see no further than the goals he scores, but I for one don’t like the rest of his game and what it does to our team. I agree his goals have been important in the past but now it seems that he just wants goals regardless of whether there are better options available or even if the shot is the sensible thing to do. It’s all about him now and I for one don’t like that approach.

  • 63 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 22, 2012 at 5:55 PM

His attitude is typical of any CF, shola shoits when there are other options as does cisse in fact the longer cisse goes without scoring the more often he trys shooting from anywhere

Personally think the club have played it very well to make him look the bad guy tbh by bringing up his clause at every available opportunity

As for his attitude i just dont buy there is one, never once has there been any storys of him being disruptive within the club at all, i mentioned it earlier when ba was subbed off last year and threw a bit of a wobbler the fans were all over him about his disgusting attitude but cisse does it today and what its ba’s fault and pardew’s fault?
Im sorry but that’s a crock to critise one players attitude/professionalism when another player has acted like a petulant child whilst being subbed

  • 64 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Dec 22, 2012 at 6:04 PM

The reasons for Ba throwing a wobbler and Cisse throwing a wobbler are one and the same, neither of them want to play down the wing, the only difference is that Ba has the club to ransom in order to play the position he wants to play and Cisse just has to put up with it because he doesn’t have the same leverage to force the club to play him as CF.

Perhaps the club are playing him as the bad guy for the very reason that in this circumstance he is the bad guy. The club aren’t some sophisticated propaganda machine, and from the look of Ba and how his team mates interact with him (especially today) I would find it hard to believe that Ba is the innocent party in this situation.

Pardew has bowed to Ba’s demands all season long at the detriment of Cisse, so yes it is Ba’s fault for holding the club over a barrel with the clause and Pardew’s fault for letting him.

And even if this is completely far from the truth, the endless speculation among fans and the media surrounding Ba is so detrimental on its own that for that reason alone we should be cutting our losses and looking for alternatives.
