Newcastle Confident Of Unveiling New Player January 1st

9:29 am, Saturday, December 22nd, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 37 Comments

The news in the Newcastle Journal this morning is good, and it says that Newcastle will go after three players in the January transfer window – a right back, a center-back and a striker.

Premier League: Bolton Press On

Mike Ashley – willing to invest in January

The inside information is that Newcastle are confident of being able to announce one new player on New Years Day – and certainly if we can get players like Mathieu Debuchy, Douglas and Loic Remy through the door in January we should do quite well in the second half of the season.

And the club sensibly wants to bring in players early in January, and that’s good because we’ll be losing Cheick Tiote and possibly Shola Ameobi to the African Cup of Nations in South Africa in early January.

And it seems that Newcastle could get Loic Remy in for just £8M, and that’s a lot less than the £12M Marseilles paid Lyon for the player two years ago.

And it seems that Remy has told Newcastle he would be happy to join the club and bolster the French contingent on Tyneside, and that’s at odds with reports yesterday in London that he was holding out hoping that Spurs would come after him.

And Mike Ashley is willing to invest money in January to bring three good players in – and of course the owner is well aware of the increased money available to PL clubs  starting next season, from the TV deal the Premier League secured for the next three seasons, and it’s really big money for the clubs in the Premier League.

To get that money Newcastle need to ensure they are still in the Premier League next season – and that to us is the most important thing to accomplish this season – given where we are at the moment.

I worry it will be someone we got in a free transfer and it wont be sissko nor will be able to make the first team (see Romain)

  • 2 seantoon // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:36 AM

Let’s start playing Cisse through the middle then. Get him firing in the goals and build his confidence up for when ba leaves in 2-3 week

  • 3 WWYCD // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:36 AM

Before every window we are told fat lad is willing to invest money into the squad yet I can’t recall a time he actually has invested

  • 4 Indian Magpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:37 AM

why play him in the center, there are other and dare i say far better options.

    although Pardew Knows best

  • 5 Transfer Sage // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:39 AM

Regardless of whether we like Ba or not I think it would be foolish to not use him for his goals until he leaves.

Cisse is poor at the moment. Has has limited chances in the past 3/4 games as he has been wide but even when centrally his finishing has been well off.

I don’t qpr will hurt us today. They haven’t fit too much creativity. Taarabt is not all he is cracked up to be.

We are a much better team just need to find form.

Load of crap Marseilles have come and said they want 15 mill for remy,Ashley won’t pay that,Douglas 5mill, sissoko free couple of mill sign on fee,end off

  • 7 Dannyo // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:42 AM

He’s brought in 12 players in the last 2 seasons under AP tho…
And spent 31,5 mill doing so. Made 16,8 mill loss in transfer on it.
    This is all post-Carroll.

  • 8 WWYCD // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:43 AM

Stick Tiote on Taarbt today the kid gets 1 reducer and he will disappear for the rest of the game

  • 9 seantoon // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:43 AM

    Debuchy Taylor Colo. Santon

    Cabaye. Anita
    Ben arfa. Remy

Get a new CB for rotation and a striker of around 19 with potential and I’d be happy at the end of January

  • 10 Dannyo // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:44 AM

But hey, completely get where u’re coming from.
Had we took the chances in the summer like we should, maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess.
A pocket slightly on the cheap side and a bit of naivitity on the progress on the youngsters (from all of us i think), has made a big difference, negativly.

  • 11 WWYCD // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:45 AM

Are u not including the Carroll money in that?

  • 12 hotdog // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:49 AM

TS – Cisse has missed a couple of chances granted but playing 45mins of a football game on the wing is not doing the lad any favours. He is a sniffer pure and simple create crosses shots at keeper, basically confusion/pressure in the oppo box and for me he will be first to react and stick it away. Cisse and Hatem up front for me. Ba looks like he is away so if he does drop Cisse after playing him on the wing he is gonna have an unhappy player on his books.

  • 13 Dannyo // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:50 AM

Nope, not including the window where Carroll went and we bought whoever at all.

  • 14 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:52 AM

I don,t think i can take much more of all the Bull on here about Prospctive signings?

Last summer was a nightmare, and come Jan 1st, can not come quick enough. I would love to believe all the hype about players coming in but it just does,nt wash with me anymore!

Plus, i,m not really feeling confident about the game this afternoon against QPR!

Frustrated and getting more and more down with every game, someone needs to come on here and cheer me up!

  • 15 nick_9 // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:52 AM

    Transfers under Pardew

  • 16 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:53 AM

    @ 12:

    Think Hatem is still injured?

  • 17 kevymartins // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:54 AM

Douglas on twitter this morning reporting remy near rapped up and there will be another 2 coming in?

  • 18 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:56 AM

OK kevy! But what does “rapped up”? mean? Forgive my stupidity but i am in my 50<s!

  • 19 Dannyo // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:57 AM

He’s just posted his articles today bud, but the articles suggests it.
U don’t see me celebrating christmas early tho 😉

  • 20 kevymartins // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:57 AM

It means the deal is near done.

  • 21 Dannyo // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:58 AM

It means NUFC are making rap songs to players to get em over the line.

  • 22 WWYCD // Dec 22, 2012 at 9:58 AM

Haha so can’t u honestly say we would of invested if Carroll hadn’t been sold? Championship buy on the cheap, first season back buy on the cheap then getting 5th (and all that comes with it) and not investing at all prefering to stick the kids on the block (after getting shot of most of our reserves) is just a stupid gamble imo

Not saying spend 30+million but there were bargins out there Michu/Mbia were cheap and not unheard of and I’d imagine others are out there and we did nothing (obvious its easy to say this after they joined the PL but it wasen’t a shock they have done well)

  • 23 kevymartins // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:01 AM

So does all the retards on here still think ba should be sold?

  • 24 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:03 AM

Do you think they could RAP up a win in the game today?

Apologies to ya lads, i guess i,m just an old fashioned Expat Brit in Holland hoping for an extra 3 points this afternoon and an extra prezzie on 1st Jan!

Won,t believe any of this till i see the smiles and the player holding the shirt on the photo !

  • 25 Big Pappa Cissé // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:05 AM

    Debuchy, Alderwireld & Remy. Job.done 🙂

  • 27 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:08 AM

kevy, i don,t think anyone with an ounce of sense on here want BA to be sold. On the other hand there is soooo much shite on here about his wage demands and release clauses, that a lot of fans are just plain sick of it all!
He,s a good player but he has too much baggage!

  • 28 kevymartins // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:11 AM

Trust me mate there is quite a few of them I was arguing with them the other week..They think cisse will play 10z better if ba was gone so they want him sold .There crazy

  • 29 BelfastMagpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:12 AM

It better be a centre back.

  • 30 BelfastMagpie // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:14 AM

I would actually rather keep Ba, than keep Cisse

  • 31 Dannyo // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:16 AM

Ye, well, MA and DL likes their gambling tho 😉
No, ofc, the AC money looks like they’re our blessing in disguise. Altho it does not feel like they’ve been used so.
Also, i’m gonna be pretty adamant and say we’re turning a profit at this point, without cashing in on Wonga and the two new TV deals just yet.
We cut allot of wages in the summer again, and the Virgin deal will show their part in June when the financial year ends.

Sometimes i wonder where the buck stops. MA supposedly says to AP “when are you going to get a new CB”, then now AP is saying “and don’t think i’m not asking for them”. Bit back and forth there.

A gamble yes, a lack of willingness to spend, i say no, they’re running the ship tight and like this year, it’s a gamble. Again, 12 players in, 8 players out post Carroll window. None have been key outside Nolan, Barton and Enrique that summer.

Hopefully reality is hitting MA and it’s hitting in January.

Who is that on the picture between Pardew and Obertan?

  • 33 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:27 AM

Well kevy, there are really are a lot of people on here with just no sense at all? They are the main reason why i don,t use this Rubriek so much anymore!

If things are going well then they are no-where to be seen and then with a bad patch like the one we are now in, then its just an endless tyrade of negative bull !

It surprises me sometimes as to why they bother, also think sometimes that they are “closet Mackems”, in the business of trying to piss off the rest of us Mags on here!

  • 34 HullMag6 // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:29 AM

    Bpc id take those 3.

Ba is having A purple patch with goals so let’s use him as long as hes here and producing. BUT I saw how he plays or rather doesn’t play with Cisse a tad greedy and the endless contract issues – with a heavy heart he should go.

The club is working within FFP guidelines and has a wage structure his (& agents) requirements are alledgedly outside the structure.

players are paid too much across the board.

  • 35 Crawfordladd17 // Dec 22, 2012 at 10:46 AM

i don’t think what i am going to say will happen but
I rather we come 17th and win Europa League than come 8th and get knocked out in the last 32. Because premier league comes and goes if we come 8th no one will be overjoyed but a trophie we would be over the moon. We would start at the same next season that other teams but trophie just need one

  • 36 James RS // Dec 22, 2012 at 11:59 PM

… and a creative midfielder and or a goos crosser of ball while we are buying defenders and a replacement for Ba

  • 37 cockneymagpie90 // Dec 23, 2012 at 1:59 AM

My pheory on the Cisse Ba case and why it has not gone well…. Cisse belongs infront of goal but Ba is doing well there and keeping him out, just how Cisse did it to Ba end of last season.

Personally, i would of rotated them both in a 433 this season because of the quantity of games eg europa leauge and cup and used some more creaters eg marveaux obertan amalfitano sameobi instead of calling on STRIKERS do to a jobe out wide theyare noin there favoured position.

The reason why i dont think Cisse is happy and not in his best form right now is when we started this season Ba and Cisse were partnered up in a 442 but Ba was very selfish almost like saying im having this centre spot back! This is why when he turns the team back to 433 it doesnt give him much of a chance to score. Cisse is a proven striker, Ba has played some good games down the wing and if i were to play them both id have Ba on the wing!

I dont like to say it but his management of this 1st half the season hasnt been great at all, lets hope he makes better decisions in the future get some players in and play good old Cisse down the middle scorim for fun and two pacey wingers down the wing.

Ba going in jan would be a blessing.
