Newcastle Unchanged For QPR Test

qpr

Newcastle are unchanged from last week when we lost to Manchester City for the important game against QPR this afternoon.

Gabriel Obertan returns to the bench after recovering from his toe injury, and both Ameobi brother and veteran goalkeeper Steve Harper are on the bench today.

Shane Ferguson, Gale Bigirimana and Sylvain Marveaux make up the substitutes for Newcastle.

This is an important game and we can get the Christmas season going on the right note with a win this afternoon, which will be only the second win in the last 12 games if we can do it.

Howay the Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle United (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; James Perch, Cheick Tiote, Vurnon Anita; Papiss Cisse, Demba Ba, Jonas Gutierrez
Substitutes: Steve Harper, Shane Ferguson, Gael Bigirimana, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi

QPR (4-3-3): Robert Green; Fabio da Silva, Anton Ferdinand, Ryan Nelsen, Clint Hill; Esteban Granero, Stephane Mbia, Alejandro Faurlin; Jamie Mackie, Djibril Cisse, Adel Taarabt
Substitutes: Brian Murphy, Armand Traore, Samba Diakite, Shaun Derry, Nedum Onuoha, Junior Hoilett, Shaun Wright-Phillips

Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)

Jonas and Cisse on the wing???

A poacher on one wing and a guy who cant do anything on the other

    No wonder we are struggling!!!

Cisse and Ba could actually work as a partnership if we had 2 fullbacks and 2 wingers who can cross and get the ball in the box but i dont see how this is going to work today

What has Marveux got to do to get a shot???

Have to either play Ba on the left or drop him… Would rather drop him over Cisse since it looks like he’s leaving anyways, Cisse must play through the middle.

well i think marveux buggerd up his chance in the bordeux game he just wasn’t interested if he’d performed better in that game i think we’d be seeing more of him now.
we played well with this team last week against the champions so we’ll get the win today i think 433 the way to go

Marveaux is definitely leaving in January. I hope we struggle today. Gutierrez does not deserve to start. Lets hope that Marveaux gets on before Obertan.

Yeah i think Marveux blew his chance against Bordeux as well although it was not his fault as he was put on the wing and e played the long ball the whole night which meant he could not get involved

Never like to wish injury on players but that would look like the only way Jonas will get dropped thing is Jonas probably could do a good job at right back or right wing as he is right footed but we always play him on the left which means he has to cut inside and always loses the ball would be better if he could just whip the ball in with his right

Also watching Arsenal Wigan game the gunners are not all that good like if we play the right formation and actually attack them there defense is there for the taking

    Highly original….bet ‘arry didn’t expect that? …LOL

Hope Jonas has a good game – if he’s no longer carrying an injury then I am expecting form of last season. Also btw if he was carrying a slight injury then why did AP not play Marv….guess he does not rate him? Personally I’d like to see Obertan and Marv play upfront with Cisse in the middle. Unlikely….so I hope and pray we get the result we desperately need…..HWTL

Some of you lads really need to give your collective heads a shake. A ball hasn’t even been kicked, we have what’s ultimately our strongest side starting and you’re already stropping.

    Disgraceful.

Think most people on here are at the same conclusion that pardew is a clown. Jonas will be awful as usual and cisse and ba won’t pass to each other. Oh well lets hope and pray they all have a stormer as we are desperate for a win.

finally the right formation, but the wrong players!!!

How the hell can marveaux not get a game at home instead of jonas against a bottom 2 team? And why not obertan instead of cisse on the wing. Round pegs square holes is right.

While we didn’t play too bad against City, I still can’t believe we play Jonas instead of Marveaux. Jonas is completely out of confidence, and seems to only run around collecting free kicks. Another issue is playing Cissè on the wing. He is a center forward who is meant to finish attacks. He’s completely missused on the wing because of poor passing abilities, and lack of trickery and pace.

@toon1707: tbh I don’t think many people do. Marv had one good game for us and has been virtually anonymous in almost everything else he’s done which is a damn shame because he does have a lot of ability, he just doesn’t seem to use it.
