Mathieu Debuchy Wary Of Newcastle Transfer Link – Again

9:25 am, Sunday, December 23rd, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 21 Comments

It’s important that Newcastle start to pick up points and move up the league table soon, as our great season last year is now in danger of being forgotten, and unless we can recover some of the form that got us to a fantastic 5th place in the league last season and move up the league table, some of the glitter associated with Newcastle will start disappearing.

Mathieu Debuchy – in France’s colors

If Newcastle are languishing near the bottom of the league table come January,  it may become difficult to get some top players to come to Newcastle either in January or in the summer, so our next few games are extremely important.

Alan Pardew has hinted that even three new players could be arriving next month, and one of them could be Mathieu Debuchy – the French International right back who Newcastle pursued without success in the summer.

This saga with Mathieu has dragged on for about a year now  – and this is what Debuchy told L’Equipe yesterday:

“At Lille I have not been told ‘you have to leave during the transfer window because we have money problems’” “But after all, if an offer arrives and it suits everyone…England, Newcastle, I won’t change my opinion within six months.”

“I have asked my agents not to speak to me about this again as long as there is nothing concrete.” “It knocked me back a bit last summer and I don’t feel like going down this road again.”

From that it would appear that Mathieu would be only too willing to move to Newcastle next month, but only if Newcastle come in with a firm offer, and presumably an improved one from last summer.

We still think Mathieu would be a tremendous signing for the club, and the news in the local papers late last week was that Newcastle are targeting a right back, center-back and a striker – and if that’s true then Mathieu could be the right back.

We hope Mathieu is the right back Newcastle will attempt to bring in next month.

What do you think?

    Davy B

    Why would perch be missing

  • 14 Dannyo // Dec 23, 2012 at 9:45 AM

Wait, Perch is out on bookings too? I knew Tiote was, but wasn’t aware of Perch. Wasn’t Perch supposed to deputise for Tiote against Man Utd?

  • 15 Dannyo // Dec 23, 2012 at 9:47 AM

Going into this match i thought it was Willo, Jonas and Tiote who was one card away from being banned…

  • 18 Marty-Toon // Dec 23, 2012 at 9:51 AM

That’s a great lookin team there with Debuchy and Douglas in it.
All of a sudden we look strong with lots of quality

  • 19 Beattie25 // Dec 23, 2012 at 9:55 AM

Kouyate is a great shout. Not only young, powerful and great in the air but agile, quick and Senegalese.

If Ba is leaving he would be great to add to the team.

Also everyone has this fantasy that Ba and Cisse will get on because they’re Senegalese. That’s wrong as Ba is French with Senegalse heritage. It’s a lot different.

I’m not saying signing an actual senagalese would work effectively but I personally think it’d help.

Kouyate, Boilesen, Remy and Guiseppe Rossi.

Yes Rossi is injured like Gosling was but he’d be great back up and cheap.

If we don’t strengthen and we stay near the bottom we are in danger of going the way villa have. They finished 5th under Oneill I think, once they didn’t get CL they lost their way n no longer have a squad capable of fighting for Europe. If we don’t improve I fear we will suffer the same fate

    Be a good signing. P1
