This Lad Is Getting Better And Better At Newcastle

9:06 am, Sunday, December 23rd, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 12 Comments

Dutch International Vurnon Anita is getting better and better at Newcastle and for the second game sin a row he is out Man of the Match in yesterday’s fantastic win against QPR.

Vurnon Anita – another good game yesterday

Vurnon took the corners and the free kicks into the box and once again his deliveries were excellent, and in the second half he hit the near post form a corner and almost scored.

And he’s leading our poll for Man of the Match with 35% of the vote followed by goalscorer Shola Ameobi with 24% of the vote.

And an interesting aspect of the game yesterday was that all three substitutes – Shola, Gabby Obertan and Sylvain Marveaux – all looked good and added to the game, with Marveaux going very close to scoring from a free kick – and all three players are in the top five in our poll.

Maybe we should keep Marveaux, since he’s now showing some good form for the club, but the reports are that he may be sent to Marseilles in part exchange for French striker Loic Remy.

Here’s the poll – if you haven’t yet voted.

    Anita lacks Cabaye’s vision to place perfectly timed through passes for our attackers and great at dead ball situations

    Wow, that Malcom McDonald, what a tosser.
    He watches games, and that’s where his reference is from.
    If anyone here knows how to get players performing, it’s AP, he’s shown that over the last two years allot.
    And we’re starting to look like a team again too, we defended very well last night and created an abundance of chances.
    Problem is, you need more quality in the final 3rd.

    @RonVanDam
    Anita is what Gosling could have been imo.
    But Anita has some serious pace! Wonder who’s faster, him or Gabby.

    Ron….I can’t wait to have a fit and healthy Cabaye back in the team. Cabaye and Anita, who is improving all the time, will do some damage imo.

    Dannyo…I was never worried QPR would score, so we were pretty well organised at the back, thought the middle of the park was sloppy by both teams mainly, although we were a little bitter. Bit of a boring game, but good subs one us the game, that and Shola :)

    We needed the win, clearly everyone was a little nervous and that will be confidence issues alone imo. It was a step.

    My thoughts from yesterday ba dosent want to b here so ap shud stop kissing his arse n drop him giving cisse the central role, obertan n marveux should b either side of him n jonas shud never b seen a toon top from the start again not good enough

    Oh n supermac is prick

    Good morning Ibiza . quite correct , nothing like a win, even if gained in a scrappy game to boost confidence.

    N I hope we can get remy but Marv or obertan going the other way would b a terrible move from us

    @Ibiza
    It looked very much that things were rushed indeed. We wanted the win and we knew we could get it too.
    But we obviously bossed the game imo, and altho it was pretty boring, we were disciplined and kept on attacking.
    I know Man Utd and Arsenal is coming up, so take this with some salt, but i think subbing off Jonas was the start of his downfall. Obertan and Marv looked so much better.
    Albeit it was against tired legs in poor weather conditions, they both looked lively.
    And i was happy to see Gabby again, he did very well both ways.
    Marv needs to add consistancy to his game, can’t be a super sub for the rest of his career.
    Sammy, Gabby, Fergy and Marv are all chomping at the bits to take over Jonas spot now, and one of them will. Sooner rather than later.

    A few signings in January from Ajax with Anitas technical abilty and this household will be happy.

    Marveau shoulda scored from the through ball yesterday,he shoulda ran at them like lightning and hit the net otherwise he shoulda passed to Obertan n he coulda scored.
    We need to start taking our chances of putting teams away
