Most Newcastle fans saw Alan Pardew go onto the pitch at the end of a tense QPR game on Saturday and hug his captain Fabrico Coloccini, and there was a reason for that, since the captain and manager had some kind of spat during training for this important game.
Fab Coloccini and Alan Pardew on Saturday
This is how the Newcastle manager explained the situation:
“There was a reason for going on the pitch at the end of the game to see Colo.” “Colo was a bit upset. It was a very little thing – if it was more serious I would say so. It was important I went on to embrace him in that way.” “I said to Colo before the game, we’re both winners, we’re allowed to fall out.” “We fell out this week and we’re entitled to do that, as the captain and the manager. It was just a silly little thing and I know he was determined to get the result today.
“Before the game, I said to him: ‘Be our leader, be a captain and make sure they don’t get a sniff of a goal’. “When you ask someone to do a job and they do it, it’s only right you pay your respects to them. You fall out with players all the time as a manager, because if not you’re not doing your job.” ” Sometimes I have to say what I think is right – even your most senior players can disagree with it.”
“I have no problem with that.” “He was never off my Christmas card list because it wasn’t me who had the problem. In any walk of life you have to be a man sometimes and admit when you’re wrong and also pay your respects when someone does something right and I thought Colo was absolutely brilliant.”
Good and honest words there from the Newcastle manager.
Pardew would not go into any detail on the spat when pressed, but suffice to say that when a team loses six out of seven games there are tensions that are bound to build up between the players, and between the players and the coaching staff – that’s only natural as frustration sets in.
Newcastle were poor on Saturday, but QPR were even worse and hardly threatened the Newcastle defense, who had their first clean sheet since 23rd September against Norwich, when we also won 1-0.
But that’s only two clean sheets in the league this season and two in the Europa League, and if Newcastle are going to start improving we need to see more clean sheets from our defense.
We assume the spat between the manager and the captain is now over – and it’s on to Manchester United for a tough game at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

Comment #2I think the game against Manchester is gonna be feisty, gonna miss Tiote big time, so expect a few goals from them. Unsure if we still have the confidence back to score.

Comment #3Colo was excellent vs QPR, that probably made it easier for them to let bygones be bygones.
And Obertan put in a great shift, effort was top notch. Now where are the people who called me crazy for backing him? 🙂

Comment #5It should,nt really matter how bad we play? Its three point which we needed really badly. Against a better team we would of been murdered!
Our next two games are probably gonna be losses which makes the points against QPR all the more significant.
That is by no means the end of our problems, and we are still looking over our shoulders at the bottom three!
As to the Spat between Collo and Pardew, well i,ve said last week, Pardew needs to keep quiet and not go spouting to the press about Team or Club affairs for that matter ! His Team choice in the last few weeks have not been good, and why Marvaux does,nt start is anyones guess?
With Cabaye, Hatem,Saylor, and Raylor out ! There have been positives so far this season although reading this forum it is clear that some people on here refuse to see them.
The emergence of Anita and Marvaux has been one of them, also the chance to blood some of the other growing talents in the youth and reserve teams !
Marvaux should be starting: every game; alongside Anita in the midfield and until Pardew realises this plain fact this club is not going to be able to get itself out of the hole we have dug ouselves into! Some of you may disagree but we are all supporting the same club? Are we not?
I am still supporting Pardew too and will back him to the hilt until the Dickheed who owns us, loses his patience and decides to tear up his “8”year contract, a move which i say would be Stupid !
Finally, i would just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone on here and you too Ed, all the Very Best for the Festive Season and a Good and Winning 2013 !
Merry Christmas everyone!

Comment #8Supermac made a statement last week and he was slated in many quarters. The body language on the pitch told Mac that all was not well. I think it is far reaching.
Everything revolves around the selfish Ba and it may be frustrating for the rest of the players to see the favouritism by AP.
Great strikers tend to be selfish, look no further than the greatest-Shearer. But Alan also played for the team.
I believe come January when the mercenary Ba moves on, we will see harmony.

Comment #10Okay! Just checked out the results from the whole season!
CLEAN SHEETS
30TH Aug–1-0 vs ATROMITAS—Home.- Europa League
20th Sept–0-0 vs MARITIMO—-Home-Europa League
23 Sept–1-0 vs NORWICH—Home- Prem
4 Oct– 3-0 vs BORDEAUX—Home- Europa League
25 Oct–1-0 vs Club Bruggges–Home- Europa League
3 Dec–3-0 vs WIGAN—Home–Prem
22 Dec– vs QPR—Home— Prem
So as i see it then thats Four clean sheets in Europe and THREE in the league this season so far.
Tim Krul was out for six weeks or so, as was Collo which all happpened while the players were on International Duty !
No excuses! just facts that hav,nt helped us
Cabaye dropped out a while back and hopefully after surgery will come back stronger than he was last year because lets face it, last year he was a revelation!
I dream about a Midfield consisting of:
Marvaux—Cabaye——Anita——HBA
with Pappiss and Remy in front of them.
When Saylor comes back my preferred back line would be:
Saylor Collo Debuchy Santon
Of course if this ever happens is pure conjecture.
Eds statement that we need more Clean Sheets is correct, but we need more points, and more Goals too!
Pardew needs to start picking Teams that go for the jugular and not score the 1-0 and then stop playing which has happened so many times this year. He also needs to stop picking the same players continually, drop BA and play Cisse through the middle, and dare i say it drop Guitti too, the lad needs a rest. Jonas also needs to be given a break from all the criticism against him on here! Criticism against the lads is,nt helping us but is typical of some of the people on here.
Here,s hoping we give it a go against Manure on Boxing Day, but steer clear of any stupid Red Cards or bad injuries!
HWTL and Keep the Faith!!

Comment #13Don’t see the point in playing ba and cisse against man u
we need to beef up midfield so would play one striker
this may go against most but I rate cisse so much and would play him before ba. He is an instictive finisher when played in his position, ba has shown his true colours and we are merely a stepping stone.
I am sure I have read or heard that if they bid 7.5 or whatever ba’s advisors get a large chunk. Give him a free then see how quick his advisors will tout him around when they are entitled to nowt. Just an idea and I know it won’t happen !
Here’s hoping we do get some new faces in the window, we need some pace for sure !
