Demba Ba Says He’s Not Really Ready To Leave Newcastle

Demba Ba talked to RMS yesterday and answered a number of questions from them – but it’s hard to see from his answers whether he wants to leave Newcastle and whether he will be leaving Newcastle next month – which are two different things.

Demba Ba – would make good politician

There are quite a few questions Ba gets asked – but we’ll leave all of them in – so here they are with his answers:
Demba is your second season at Newcastle. Do you usually play during the holidays?

“You know, it’s fun. This is a time when people flock to the stadium with their families and the atmosphere is really special. After that, it is true, as we have already done the first part of the season, we’re a little tired. But we need to draw on our resources and get a good rest between games because they keep coming quickly.”

You already have 18 games in the legs. It is not too hard mentally to know that there will be no pause until May?

“When the season starts, we already know that we play until May. We had August until December to prepare. But we’re in a league where, especially in Newcastle, we have a lot of rest. When there’s an international game, they give us three or four days off in the week. Like when we have our regular training program, we often rest days during the week.”

Tell us about the preparation of Boxing Day?

“It is true that it is strange. We take the plane the day before, as a game on Saturday afternoon, but usually when you arrive at the hotel, it is always crowded. And here we arrive on the day of Christmas and it is completely empty. There was hardly anyone there but us. The next day we get up, getting ready, we go to the stadium. The streets are empty and there, we come to the stadium and there is a mass of people willing to support their team. They leave at the time of the match. Before that, there was nobody in the city.”

What will be the goal against Manchester United?

“In the situation where you are  – 14th in the league  – we have nothing to lose. Everyone thinks we’re going to take a beating and it is up to us to show character and go. Because it is true that we are not in the best of situations. But we have nothing to lose. If we lose, for the people, it will be normal. But if we win, we will exploit the fact. So we’ll go and do everything possible to create an exploit.”

With your 11 goals, you are on the heels of Robin van Persie (12 goals). It motivates you to finish it?

“In fact, I do not compare myself to others. I try to give everything when I’m on the pitch and I have no goals for the season. This is game after game. I was taken to be attacking and to be attacking is scoring goals. So when I get on the field, I try to do my job the best way possible.”

A job you do pretty well, since you have attracted the attention of Premier League big guns. You are ready to leave Newcastle?

“No, not really. You know, I’m here and many people speculate. There are many things that circulate on the Internet, in newspapers , but I’m here and while I’m there, I will give everything to give to the club. And if one day I had to leave, I would leave the head high because I always gave everything. And nobody will have nothing to reproach myself.”

But we can imagine that playing for a title could seduce you …

“Of course, these are clubs which every year looking for titles. Since I play football, I did not even claim the potential to play at a club that plays the title every year. But it is true that I aspire to play for a club that has a big project and still trying to go forward. This is what happened when I went to Hoffenheim . When I arrived at Newcastle , the same. So it is true that I want to finish my career on a team that has plans for the future but also plays for the title.”

There is much talk of Arsenal, French club, with a long-term project …

“Arsenal is a club that has not won the title for a long time, but it is true that this is a club that attracts every footballer . But as I said and repeated: these are the people who talk in the newspapers because for the moment, between me and Arsenal, there is not much …”

So that means that there is not anything …

“Well, that’s it. That means I’m in my club at the moment and the day I have to leave, I will analyze the situation. If it’s better for me to stay, I will stay. And if it’s better for me to go, I will. After that, it is better to go somewhere where there are a lot of French , because it fits much more easily. But for now, it is not in the program.”

You are from Sèvres. You cannot resist the question: do you envision going to PSG?

“The PSG , I look like a fan, like a bear. I have never concealed my attraction to this club as a supporter and since a toddler. Now they are doing things that are very important, big plans for the future. And of course, I’d like to play in the colors of a team I support. But as I’ve said for Arsenal , this is something that is still far away. For now, I focus on what I need to do in the club. Out Newcastle from the galley where we are. But it is true that PSG is a club especially for me.”

From those answers Ba gives above – we think he’s make a decent politician, because he’s very cagey about how he answers some of those pointed questions.

What do you think?
