ToonDownSouth – no, that was my point. Wasn’t blaming Simpson, if Pardew/ Ashley had actually done something this summer we could’ve risen above mediocrity.

  • 2 ajcrawfs // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:03 PM

    who the hell voted simpson!

  • 3 hotdog // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:03 PM

Like i posted on here last week “rip the f defence up and start again” We will never be a big club if we continue to capitulate at the top four. Rabbit in headlights again sick of seeing it for years and years.

    I would honestly say everyone.

I couldn’t be prouder of my team than I am today.

We led three times at the best team in the country, and we come away with nothing feeling ripped off.
We deserved at least a point.

Pardew spot on yet again, will still get his critics though.

Remember we just nearly played man utd of the park, be proud and push on to arsenal. Play like that and we will win.

  • 5 euanpolo // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:04 PM

Newcastle can be bloody proud of themselves. We deserved a win nevermind a draw. Man Utd. (as usual) just got the luck and (as usual) we didn’t. Alex Ferguson and Robin Van Persie should be thrown out of football!

  • 6 Spuggy // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:04 PM

Such a shame not to take any points after hitting the post twice.

The glaring problem is still there the ball retention and quality in key positions. The lads did great though considering it was a 2nd string midfield.

Cisse scored a great goal – if he was played centrally he’d get a bagfull of goals. A RB, CB and winger/striker and we will look a hell of a lot better – please please please let us have quality in every position.

  • 7 Indian Magpie // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:05 PM

We played well, lets be honest. a lot of positives to be taken out of it. Hopefully we can build on it.

Hard to take None the less

  • 8 Dukis22lt // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:05 PM

Marveaux for me, surprisingly Simson did beat his man on few occasions, but you cant vote for a defender when we concede 4 goals 🙁

  • 9 ich liebe NUFC // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:05 PM

Plenty of positives to take from this game. Marveux is much better than Jonas. Cisse can still score and we can put up a good fight against man u. Pleased with the performance, feel very unlucky bout the score

  • 10 jasper // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:05 PM

Much, much better, but we can’t require any more proof that it is the defence that needs bolstering.
    Usual referee MUFC bias.

  • 11 ToonDownSouth // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:05 PM

Yeah.. Yet people still expect us to make signings in January. When will people learn that Mike Ashley has no interest or intentions of improving this team.

  • 12 valle // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:06 PM

To bad we didnt win today, we really had the chance to just that but cant fault the players really… Good effort

  • 13 BWFFBW // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:06 PM

I am certain Beattie25 will be on shortly and moaning about something… AP, the rain, his stocking filled with coal, Fergie, tactics, the refs, goals or maybe his lack of cheesy chips consumption this Holiday break!

  • 14 Spuggy // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:06 PM

We need to improve ball retention and passing in key positions. Cisse has improved a lot on the RW – he worked his socks off and got his reward.

  • 15 TheToonKing // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:07 PM

I’m gutted… we didn’t deserve to loose this.

And Anita seems like he’s out for a few months now….

Everything is going against us…we really need a break. And it’s not getting easier, we hardly have players remaining.

Tiote is back for Arsenal, but that’s the only good news.

  • 16 Conaldo (The Wizard...Also Bestest Friends With Paul Scharner) // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:07 PM

Indian – the fact that this defeat is so hard to take shows how well we played.

Lets be proud of this team and believe in what they can do.

That was not a relegation performance.

Be proud of your team today everyone.

  • 17 hotdog // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:07 PM

Like i posted last week ” rip the defense up and start again” im sick of seeing us capitulate at big clubs over the years. They were there for the taking as our attacking play showed but yet again rabbit in headlights defending costs us.

All 11 players were a credit to themselves and the club.

  • 20 TheToonKing // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:08 PM

Just want to add that I hate Williamson..he was cr@p again. Like a tugboat in a kenu race. Everydoby else played their heart out.

  • 21 davetoon // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:08 PM

i thought Simpson played decent today

  • 22 ToonJovi // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:08 PM

Cant argue with the result to much! great performance! very proud indeed!

but agree with Simpson deffo not being man of the match! his final output in their half was dissapointment after dissapointment!

And fingures crossed for Anita! would simly be typical if he is added onto our forever growing list of injuries! espeically as he has just found his form!

  • 23 valle // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:09 PM

What the feck is wrong with people?… Every single article, no matter what the subjekt is there will be whiners going on about MA or AP.

  • 24 achtoon // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:09 PM

Ketsbaia9 you dick. Manure average side. top of the league muppet

  • 25 ONLINE GUY // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:09 PM

Should Valencia have been sent off ?

  • 26 bambams // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:09 PM

Only watched the match on stop start live stream so not the best research to give a full opinion BUT i thought Marv did well and Oberton when he came on.

Worry about the window coming up, lets just hope the league one and young up and coming championship players are not put off by our league position !!!

  • 27 WorJordi // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:10 PM

2 out of the three subs should not have been made when they were.
Obertan did well but the ameobis shoudl not have come on. Cisse in his rightful position scored. What does that tell you.
SAF scared the shite out of the linesman who would not have dared give anyhting after the own goal.
    I f’kin hate manure

  • 28 GeordieDan // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:10 PM

Just like you I couldn’t be prouder of the lads today. What an effort!

Amazing game and just a heart-breaking result. Really hope Anita’s injury isn’t too bad but I fear the worst. 🙁

Gutted but pretty much every one of the Newcastle players should hold their heads high after that performance.

  • 29 ONLINE GUY // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:10 PM

The Better team lost. Fantastic performance ..Pride restored.

  • 30 jasper // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:10 PM

Didn’t like the look of the foul on Anita. Suspect broken fibula and out for 10 weeks. Anyone see the parallel between that foul ant the one that got Tiote sent off last year in the cup? Except, of course, that Tiote actually got he ball……but then he doesn’t play for MU.

  • 31 Newcastle for alltid // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:11 PM

I feel really sorry for the lads today, as they really deserved to get something out of this game. We actually look like we have a gameplan now, and we got the goals to show it today. We need strenghtening in January, no doubt about that, but I wouldn’t be to hard on our defense today. After all, we played Manchester United away – every team in the league is tested defensively there.

Manchester United got a lot of decisions their way, and that’s as annoying as ever. We got the 2-1 goal, which was correct in my opinion, but they get silly free kicks all over the pitch. Fergie just needs to give the ref “the look” if he wants a free kick. An only Manchester United at Old Trafford will get away with one of their players clearly elbowing Coloccini before a goal. It’s annoying, and poor biased refereeing.

  • 32 jimiley // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:11 PM

Thats the worst Manure team since the 80s. If we could not beat them today we never will. They were there for the taking. We defended after 80 minutes and lost in the last 10. Typical Newcastle. The club has no self belief because we are only used to losing. When the going gets tough we fold. We won the league in 1927. We think silverware is a teaspoon.

  • 33 ONLINE GUY // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:12 PM

The Makems are talking about Europe !

  • 34 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:12 PM

Simpson was the worst player on the pitch today. He did well to beat 2 players, but then kicked the ball out of play when it was easier to score. The sooner we get rid, the better. Anita and Marveaux have got a great understanding. I actually prefer Marveaux to Cabaye. I’ve always that Marveaux is the best ball player at the club.

If we sign Debuchy, Alderewerield, Sissoko and Remy and keep Ba in January, then we will have a tremendous squad and can beat anyone.

Hopefully Anita’s injury isn’t too bad. Looks like we’ll definitely be in for Sissoko, Biglia, Diame and M’Vila.

  • 35 stuart no9 // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:14 PM

didnt deserve to lose, but we;ve got to play for 90 mins. sir alex has always always drills home to his team , the fact that they dont lose , never get beat – we havnt got that mentality, its sad coz we didnt deserve it today , same old newcastle – same old teams- same old result

  • 36 blew // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:14 PM

Defensive RB and a Defensive CB urgently needed 1st January, both with heading ability – not Debuchy.
We outplayed them today, the midfield were mobile and showed talent – without Jonas.
Cant yet decide MOM between Marveaux and Santon.

  • 37 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:15 PM

Man Utd had the worst ever squad last season. They have sign Van Persia and Kagawa and appear stronger in attack. We have better player, we just need to sign 2/3 defenders, 1 midfielder and a striker.

  • 38 cyprus // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:15 PM

Congratulations to all players and AP. What a tough game is football. Hats off to all of them.

  • 39 toonicle // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:16 PM

Gutted that we didn’t get atleast a point. Williamson had a ball fall right for him in the box and missed it, plus his defensive play shows he doesn’t deserve a start. Here’s hoping we get a CB to walk through the day January 1

  • 40 GeordieDan // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:16 PM

    “We didn’t deserve it”?

    Hope thats a typo like.

  • 41 bambams // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:17 PM

Boys, do you think Wills and Sims know they may get replaced in the window?

The texts i am receiving all point to them merely going through the motions, i watched on laptop so difficult to say how well they played.

Great chance t have won but dont think Cisse should have been taken off after scoring that goal, what confidence he had was then taken away immediately.

  • 42 jimiley // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:17 PM

Losing 4- 3 is our favourite score.

  • 43 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:17 PM

Santon and Marveaux were the stand out players today. Anita and Coloccini also had great games. Even Perch played well. It’s just the liabilities that cost us. We are useless in defense. Where was the marking for their last goal? Simpson and Willo were sleeping.

  • 44 toonking // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:18 PM

blew if you wanting a defensive FB then it would be better to get a defensive LB

  • 45 GeordieDan // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:18 PM

Apologies, mis-read your post, my mistake. 🙂

    Agree completely mate. 😀

  • 46 toonking // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:19 PM

my MOTM was simpson because for all the critism he get on the blog by people complaining of a lack of aggression well today he was excellent.

  • 47 Constanstine // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:22 PM

Probably the most exciting game so far this season. Give the lad some credits.

  • 48 GeordieDan // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:23 PM

Apparently Stan Collymore was in attendance today. 🙁

What a great bad luck charm that bloke is! What’s an ex-Liverfool player doing there anyway except to potentially ruin another season for us.

    AAAAAaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggghhhhhh. So Pi55ed off 🙁

  • 49 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:24 PM

    Absolutely Gutted !

Notacably no comments yet from Catchy!

Was it really neccessary for Valencia to take out Anita like that !

Ferguson was complaining last week about a ball to the head of Van Persie ! No apologies forthcoming but that challenge looked pretty bad! Anita may be out for months, just what we needed! NOT !

Proud of the Lads though, the better team lost!

  • 50 chefclarkey // Dec 26, 2012 at 5:33 PM

we played well and should have at least got a draw. Everyone on here was thinking we were going to get hammered but we played our socks off!

  • 51 JAMSHA // Dec 26, 2012 at 7:21 PM
