Some Good News On Vurnon Anita

There was some good news for a change about some of Newcastle’s injured players yesterday, and it seems that Vurnon Anita, who has started to look a very good player for Newcastle lately, didn’t sustain serious damage to his ankle.

Vurnon Anita – in action on Wednesday

Vurnon was stretchered off very late in the game after a mistimed sliding tackle from Antonio Valencia, and at first it looked like it was a really serious ankle injury to one of our best players.

But in his press conference yesterday for the tough Arsenal game tomorrow, Alan Pardew had good news and had this to say:

“That doesn’t look as bad, fortunately – that really was, you know, the last kick we didn’t want in terms of the way the game unfolded for us.”   “It looks like heavy bruising to his ankle, but he will definitely not play at Arsenal, but will have a chance in the next couple of games.”

That’s good to hear, but we wonder who will play the attacking central midfield role tomorrow at the Emirates?

It could be Gael Bigirimana, and the 19 year-old certainly didn’t look out of his class on Wednesday afternoon at Old Trafford, and he showed what a really promising player he is.

It could be that Gael will partner the returning Cheick Tiote in central midfield,

Who would you play in Vurnon attacking central midfield role?

    Sam,

I have a feeling that Williamson is suspended for the Arsenal game and therefore Perch looks the likely replacement. An alternative could be Tavernia but things would have to be desperate (or more desperate than they are) for that to happen.

The midfield for Arsenal could be Tiote, Bigi and Marveaux with a front three of Ba, Cisse and Obertan.

abied is not good enough for first team yet neither is sammy imo.

think with all these injuries we definatly need marv and obertan on as they have been in form players recently and try go back to the old days of out scoring the other teams untill we get solid at the back again.

Mehdi Abeid should be given his chance. He is the obvious choice for me.

if we play 3 centre midfielders then Marveaux should be that attacker. We could then play obertan as part of a front three with Ba and Cisse. However there is the option to p-lay 4-4-2 seeing as we are playing away and we could slip Perch into centre half with Tiote and Bigi centre mids and Marveaux and Obertan on the wings.

Why is everyone saying Abeid should be brought in to replace Anita?

He has done NOTHING at all in black and white when given chances so far. He was completely anonymous in his last chance.

He’s a promising kid but that’s it at this stage.

Team for Arsenal should be set up exactly the same as against Manure but playing Obertan and marv on the wings with Big in the middle and Perch in place of Willo who has been just awful lately.

Marveaux definitely the man in for Anita.

    4-2-3-1
    Krul
    Simpson, Colo, Perch, Santon
    Tiote-Bigi
    Cisse-Marveaux-Obertan
    Ba

Age old problem GD if you dont give them games then when you want them to step up they wont be ready. Bigi appears to have been treated differently as a result he’s had more exposure and is more likely to play a part in a first XI.

Big problem for us is we play “wingers/strikers” in the wide outside roles who rarely track back and help out their full backs. Jose and Jonas were a great “team” down the left and we need to re-establish those “sympatico’s” on both flanks asap.

As for Saturday, the Gooners generally play 4-2-3-1 so if we were to match up then we could give them a game however we need to ensure Simmo and Santon get support.

Well if push comes to shove, I’m up for Streete getting a run. The young lad is fantastic having seen him a few times. Imagine Willo actually being able to defend the aerial threats as advertised, thats Streete.

Also I’m not a fan of the 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 right now. Arsenal will be a better team then the banged up United squad, so hopefully Alan is really earning that 8 year contract this week in preperation.

I would play Marveaux in the CAM position.

Though I wouldn’t like to see Gutierrez back as he’s been woeful this season. The question is who’s going to play LM? I think Fergie should come back into the squad. Maybe stick Abeid on the bench and try him for a few minutes in the CAM, depends how the game is going.

Very, Very good news on Anita !

    Re-Post:

The Dutch kid to whom we are giving a trial is called Denzil Slager and plays for RKC Waalwijk not far from where i live !

Translate Slager to English, it means – ” Butcher “!

Seen him play a few times and i,m not sure if he,s good enough for the Prem? but heh! I have an idea that Carr has scouted him, so maybe he might be okay, maybe worth his trial?
He,s very young though! We,ll see?
