Bigirimana, Marveaux And Obertan Start

arsenal-fc-crest

French U21 Internationals Sylvain Marveaux and Gabby Obertan both get a start at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.

And with Vurnon Anita injured Gael Bigirimana comes in for the Dutchman in central midfielder and will play the attacking role for Newcastle against Arsenal this afternoon, with James Perch at center-back alongside captain Fabricio Coloccini.

It looks like Newcastle may be playing a variation of 4-5-1 with Demba Ba up front on his lonesome, but Alan Pardew has tried to put some creativity ion the side with Obertan and Marveaux, who are both in good form at the moment.

With so many Newcastle players out injured, youngsters James Tavernier, Shane Ferguson, Mehdi Abeid and Sammy Ameobi all make the bench, and we were right in our match preview (that makes a nice change!),  that 18 year-old center-back South Shields born Remie Streete is also on the bench for the first time ever.

Newcastle need something out of this game today.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Arsenal: (4-2-3-1): Wojciech Szczesny; Bacary Sagna, Thomas Vermaelen (c), Laurent Koscielny, Kieran Gibbs; Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski; Theo Walcott
Substitutes: Vito Mannone, Johan Djourou, Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky, Gervinho, Olivier Giroud

Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, James Perch, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Gael Bigirimana, Cheick Tiote; Papiss Cisse, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan; Demba Ba
Substitutes: Steve Harper, James Tavernier, Shane Ferguson, Remie Streete, Mehdi Abeid, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi

“but your one of the guys who venomley stands by pardew,, OC your gona say that”

    I do hope you’re joking…

Either that, or you’re confusing me with someone else…

When have I made any excuses for Pardew? In fact, only a couple of hours ago I said that I wished he’d shut up with the ridiculous excuses!

This is what I mean – you read what you want to read, nothing else. I do not stand by Pardew at all – I cannot stand him as a person, nor as a tactician.

good call putting Perchy in CB today from Mr Pardew, despite the fact Williamson hasn’t been that bad recently.

Tiote//Bigi offers us a very good anchor.

I just wish it was to be set up like this.

    ——————–Krul——————–

    Simpson—Perch—-Coloccini—Santon

    ————Bigirimana-Tiote————–

    Obertan———Marveaux————Ba

    ——————–Cisse——————

    or

    ————Bigirimana–Tiote————–

    Marveaux———-Ba————Obertan

    ——————–Cisse——————

Would love to see either of the above.

Arsenal Team: Szczesny; Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen (c), Gibbs; Arteta, Wilshere; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Podolski; Walcott.
    vs
Newcastle Team (4-2-3-1) Krul; Simpson, Perch, Coloccini (c), Santon; Bigirimana, Tiote; Cisse, Marveaux, Obertan; Ba.
Subs: Harper, Ferguson, Tavernier, Streete, Abeid, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi.

Only Krul, Coloccini, Santon, and Ba would get into their team. Ben Arfa and Cabaye would too.

I think we can win believe Bradford did it, we can too

I see a few of you are jumping on the Percy Parsnip name calling wagon.
A pathetic lack of respect for the manager of our team. Supporters my arse.”
You appear to have inadvertently committed the “same crime” as you accuse others of by referring to the manager as Percy Parsnip. Clearly as you have issued an insult in addition, I feel it appropriate to respond in a similar manner. Sir you are a tool, nay, a complete tool.
You need to keep off the cider.

nice last-ditch squad to throw out there. The bench is what it is, desperate pickings. Thus illustrating Mr P’s dilemma. Your team is what you have and you play to what they offer. Defence is a secondary in that team, I do hope we can score one more or at least the same as we let in.

Our defence is rubbish and the addition of Perch in there will not strengthen it. No hope for us I fear. Giroud will have field day.

I guess I must have missed that. How long ago was that? Personally I feel we’ve been much better these past 3 or 4 games.

If players are unhappy, and feel that bad form is partly down to the manager, then that is a huge problem for me. However if Pardew is the one changing things, then that’s only a positive thing.

i have a few times,, and while i dont think he is great yet

i think he is a good footballer, has a good fooballing brain, is strong, dosnt gave the ball away much,,

on ability right now,, he has more than obertan, i think if you take pace away from obertan he is not a footballer,

obertan gets in the team for pace,, and chooses the wrong options to many times, and when he gets into crossing possitions , 9 out of 10 are poor,

i like the look of amalfitano too

Haha find it funny how fast you turned the subject into Obertan

back to subject, did you watch his last 1st team game when he came off the bench? with fresh legs he was dire and had none of things you mention

As for his cup appearences last year, i don’t count them so much due to the oppositiona and i don’t count reserve games either as a good indication

Could he be a good footballer, maybe, do you really know, we haven’t see enough. We have seen so little of him that i can only base him on his last performance which was 15 mins of absolute shite

Willo banned for this game due to “totting up” of yellows, otherwise i believe we would be going with the same shambles as last week.
Perchinio may be a better player but we are woefully short on height without willo.
The Arse rarely play hoofball though so we may stand a chance.

    Heres hoping anyhoo

4-3-3 with Ba on the left would suit for today with the players we have available. If he goes defensive it will end up long ball to Ba. Fingers crossed we have a go and Tiote doesn’t pi55 about on the ball.

If he is positive with tactics/formation, we can give this game a right go.

All I want to see is the same commitment and desire from the team as they showed against Manure,if they do that then I won’t complain cos the squad is threadbare. I expect Ba to put in a good performance now Wenger says he doesn’t want him, to show him how good he is.
