Anderlecht Argentine International midfielder Lucas Biglia wants to move to a club in a bigger league, so that he has a chance to be selected in Argentina’s World Cup squad for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, in a couple of years time.
Lucas Biglia – wants to play in bigger league
The 26 year old has been linked with Newcastle over the last couple of months, although Arsenal are also said to be interested in the Argentine central midfielder.
Indeed, Real Madrid, Fiorentina and AC Milan on the continent have also been reported as having an interest in the 7 times capped Argentine International.
This is what the 26 year-old defensive midfielder told Het Nieuwsblad:
“Time is running out.” “I don’t have to be at a big top team, just to a bigger league. I need that if I want to play with Argentina in 2014 at the World Cup.”
“If I arrive in Argentina my manager will pick me up at the airport. I have asked him to tell me in Buenos Aires what my options are. I hope to begin after New Year’s Eve. In England, Spain and Italy there is not a real winter break.”
“It’s clear Spain and Italy are dream destinations but I won’t close the gate on Russia.”
Defensive midfield is not a real pressing need at the moment for Newcastle, at least compared to getting some defenders or strikers into the club next month, but this lad looks like a decent player.
But we’d like to see a couple of defenders and a striker brought in during January, and if Ben Arfa, Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor can also return next month – we may be back in business.
But it’s now up to the Newcastle Board (read that as Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias) to show us they have ambition for the club.
We’ll know soon enough.

Comment #84Can someone actually tell me what all the talk of Pardew having ‘numerous disagreements with different players’ has come from?
People say he’s fallen out with Cisse, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Cabaye… Where has this actually come from?
All I’ve ever read is that there was one dressing room argument with Coloccini – the subject of which appears to be purely speculation.

Comment #85I think Percy Parsnip’s done well last couple of games especially considering the players he’s had missing from injury and suspension.
Down to the bare bones today but fingers crossed, continued progress by percy and the team.

It’s embarrassing isn’t it. Some people here can’t stand anyones opinion differing even slightly from their own. If you don’t 100% agree with them, then you must be 100% against them. No need to name names of course, but it prevents any form of reasoned discussion or debate.

Comment #95Catchy, I can see improvement but still plenty of room for more. Pardew’s hard a difficult dressing room I believe since the summer and it’s taken half a season to get the team firing imo.

Comment #102If I sat in the middle catchy I would be Ibiza – moderator and arbitrator for the orphan, friend of all, but I do not have that power, sadly.
Simpson – up until now my gripe is that he should not attempt to be an attacking fb as he has neither the skill to get around a man or the delivery to make it worthwhile, his apparent pace fooling him into thinking he qualifies in that role. All it does is make us vulnerable at the back r/hand where Willo is often called into question for being dragged out of shape because of the hole he leaves behind him, not absolving willo as we all accept his level of skill and so on. The Man U game was a turning point for me in acceptance of Simpson as I could see that when the team stepped up a gear his vulnerability or rather the vulnerability he imposed on the rest of the back line became amplified. He has no further height to reach and will not get better, and will not rise to an occasion. His performance when it counted was even more profligate and diluted the whole teams effort for me, which is even more surprising because the rest of the team performed admirably for me, at least Santon showed how you can go forward and yet never lose a grip on the defensive priority for probably the first time I can remember. Now there is a player that is improving.
That do it for ya, Catch?

Comment #110MacToon – oooh, is that a guilt complex kicking in.
Its got fa to do with a no sense of humour and everything to do with keeping a positive attitude and supporting the team.
I’ll say one thing, 50,000 at SJP with my attitude would fire the team up more than 50,000 with catchy’s or some of the other constant whingers, criticisers and managerial/owner pisstakers on here.
We are called supporters for a reason.

Comment #116carl @54 – eventually located your jibe.
I use the pseudonym Percy Parsnip as a term of endearment -I find it amusing and entertaining and could not careless whether you do or do not. The use of two words/names ie “Percy Parsnip” is clearly not in itself intended to to be entertaining or to be intellectually stimulating. I am really sorry to disappoint you in respect of this, perhaps if you can suggest two words (nothing vulgar) that you think will fit the bill I would be willing to engage in a debate/discussion in order that you can be stimulated.
I agree with your point re “there is no fool like an old fool”. Equally I find cheeky young bucks/young whippersnappers equally offensive.
In the meantime, seeing that you have self appointed yourself as the blog police – have I done anything wrong.
Also not 100% certain that my purpose in posting on a football blog is is stimulate you but I’ll try anything.

Simpson—Perch—-Coloccini—Santon
————Bigirimana-Tiote————–
Obertan———Marveaux————Ba
——————–Cisse——————

chav is a derivative of charv if you want to be pedantic and I guess you do.
I guess the obligatory haircut, clothes, tats, piercings, bling, rap, low i.q, no class etc, leaving the mother of your pregnant girlriend, just the usual clues.
