Even through we’ve lost both the last two games by 4-3 and 7-3, there were still some good things to come out of those defeats, and one of them was our ability to create chances again and actually score goals, and a lot of that has been due to the good form of Sylvain Marveaux, and helped by the return of Gabby Obertan, who can lay on goals down the right wing or the left wing.
Gael Bigirimana – already looking a very good player
And these two lads are taking their chances well, while some of our top players are out, but another lad, 19 year-old Gael Bigirimana has played very well in the last two games, and will likely get games through the middle of February, if the Ivory Coast do well in the African Cup of Nations, with Cheick Tiote in South Africa and in their squad.
The Burundi-born player has been a big hit since we signed him in the summer from Coventry City for £1M, and with the good form of Vurnon Anita, who we hope can return against Everton on Wednesday night, the two acquisitions lats summer by Newcastle look good ones, but there were not enough players brought in – and we are paying for that now.
Gael has already played 18 times for Newcastle with one goal, and surely if this lad keeps up this form Stuart Pearce will be interested in the lad for the England U21 side.
Gael has yet to be capped at any level for England, but if he keeps up the form he has shown in the last two games, an England U21 cap cannot be far away.
What do you think?
