Alan Pardew On Demba Ba Farce – What Will Be Will Be

The new circus that sees Demba Ba’s agents courting other clubs has already begun, and one set of talks – the widely reported talks held last night with Chelsea – have already broken down – but we are likely to get this stuff going on through the end of January, or until some club comes along and pays the striker’s ridiculous wage demands, and he walks away from Newcastle.

alan pardew at benton

Alan Pardew – helpless in the Ba situation

And the situation is almost surreal as this is the very last thing we want right now, with Newcastle struggling mightily to keep above the relegation zone, after a disastrous string of 11 league games in which we have won only two and drawn one, and we have dropped precipitously down the league table.

Alan Pardew ha said there’s simply nothing he can do about the situation with his Senegal striker – and Newcastle will think twice before they allow another release clause in any player’s contract.

Alan Pardew was asked about Demba Ba, and this is what he said:

Of course I’d like to hold on to everyone we’ve got, but Demba Ba is a bit out of my hands and there’s not a lot we can do about that.”  “What will be, will be”.

We keep looking at Demba’s Twitter account to see if there’s any comments from him, but his last entry was four days ago.

Newcastle have said that if Be is still on Tyneside in February, they will press him to sign a new deal at Newcastle, otherwise they will actively pursue a buyer for the Senegal striker in early summer, as the Tyneside club are simply not prepared to have this kind of nonsense happen in any future transfer window.

That sounds about right to us.

And one unfortunate thing that’s also happening, is that some Newcastle’s  players already think this is a farce – and it could be damaging team spirit in the dressing room – at a vital time of the season, when we are really up against it.

he’s gone. hate to see such a good goalscorer go, but cisse can now shine. it’s more about the team than any individual

    Sir toon
When did i say he doesn’t want to leave?
I haven’t ive said the treatment of him from the media and fans is terrible and now Ed’s started to just make sh1t up!
Theres no reports on his wage demands from chelsea any where on sky
Theres no evidence that he has been offered this huge contract fron the club and turned it down and if you take the story that ed is basing the last to articles on then he’s only on 20 k with performance bonuses which you’d imagine would be seriously hampered by playing on the wing
I have no issue with him leaving he owes us nout and is entitled to be on a salary that matches his ability
Even cisse has come out and said the board are wrong to let ba leave but some fans seem determined to only see the half of the arguement to suit there case and seemingly blame him for the season, which is fcuking ridiculous
Now we have some absolute tw@’s hoping his knee gives way and career is over?
    Get real

All this talk about loyalty and resurecting his career, well for starters it was Westham that gave him his chance but they got themselves relegated,we’ve also shown him and his knee enough loyalty to have had a top striker on a very low wage in comparison to other top strikers, loyalty works both ways,I think were stuck with him till he leaves for free,so get him stuck out on that wing and tell him to start thinking of the team.

I’m confident that our attack will be strong enough come the end of January. Even Ashley must see that we need another striker even if ba stays. The defense is what concerns me. Even coloccini looks poor at the moment. Williamson isn’t even a good enough back up and saylor is always injured. I love watching santon go forward but his defending is scary at times. At the very least we need one centreback (preferably with some pace) along with debuchy

Pardew needs to grow some balls and take a page from Alex Fergusons book and bench Ba indefinitely.

If Ba wants so sit and choose and line his nest then that is his option however what we cannot afford to do is let Ba set an example other players can follow as it will be the ruin of the club.

He is a good player but this behaviour cannot be tolerated under any circumstances and pardew needs to accept that and leave him out of the squad as it will only destroy the morale of the other players.

It may be harsh but uit needs to be done for the good of the club

Get in another striker/attacking winger asap. This has been coming since Ba signed we aren’t a Wigan size club we are easily top 10 (if not higher) but we act like the poorest club in the land with no draw really tired of this attitude now

Toondownsouth – I agree i think its remarkable how quickly some ‘fans’ can turn on a player. Ba himself has said nothing about wanting to go anywhere its all his friends (agents).

Without Ba this season would be even more of a mess. I do think he should however agree to sign a new contract. Pardews stance on this is correct for me, sign or move on. There is no denying that this kind of stuff is detrimental to team morale.

TADS, the manager has said repeatedly that they have tried to remove the clause, but haven’t been able to. Why is that? Because he turned it down! He didn’t want the clause removing as he can make a fortune if a transfer goes ahead.

And when you read the SSN article it says they couldn’t come to an agreement. What else will it be apart from money exactly?

Your “get real” comment is hilarious by the way. You say you have never denied he wants away yet have had a pop at Ed every time he posts an article regarding Ba’s departure. At no point is he talking sh1t as you put it.

He has been offered a new contract, its only greed at the moment that is making him move. Personally I’d love him to stay but its about the team, not the player so Pardew is right.

Hope reports are true and the new striker and Debuchy are signed by wed .. we need the lift as everton is a 6 pointer ..

Would be excellent though if we got.

    Debuchy
    Alderwield
    Remy and
    Sissoko

Top 6 team there .. especially since some of our midfielders look really good .. marveaux, anita ..

Totally agree he needs to sign a contract or move on
Tbf it looks like he’s doing the latter or at the very least showing the board he’s not prepared to fcuk about
If we’ve offered him a contract, regardless of how good/poor it is, and he’s declined it then he seems to have accepted that and is looking to move on
Either way i cant see it as him holding the club to ransom

Demba to QPR is a decent punt at 33/1 on BetVictor. Just put a couple of quid on. Anzi at 66/1 was worth a quid as well. Can only see him goin where someone will pay a lot of money. If Chelsea have raised their eyebrows, then who else is there really now Liverpool has Sturridge?

    Ed

I was kind of hoping Ba would go to Chelsea with Van Arnholt coming here as part of the deal.

I am so sick of ”clausegate” now. It is obviously a divisive factor in the camp and if Ba goes Cisse will be in from the right wing.

Ba’s agent might have shot themselves in the foot here. Ba didn’t accept the 70k on offer from us so presumably if he stays, he will be kept on 40K! They always say Ashley’s first offer is the best.

Ba should only be allowed to stay if he gets rid of the clause, period

Sweendog. Those are the right players (even though remy may be little unrealistic) but we won’t become a top six team overnight. The talent that we would have should be a top six team but the team we have form last season was a top five team. We’re not playing well and new players will only help to a certain extent. To be a top six team we need to have the confidence of last season and i don’t see where that will come from.

Ive had a pop about 2 of his articles and backed my dig up both times where in the first article, i posted a link to the story, he only used one half of the story, as for the sky article “what else could it be” so jumping to conclusions is fact now is it?
Yeah if course the club have tried to remive the clause do you know the details of the rest of the contract offer? What? No? Im shocked i mean do yoy no the salary offered? Do you know if they were willing to remove there clause against his knee?
Im not prepared to jump on a players back because of some half facts in the media and because of imagine on pitch tensions on the pitch

For a club that supposedly plays it so tough in the transfer market, why so impotent in dealing with Ba.

Out the door or on the wing or the bench. Should never have been tolerated to this degree, and if we’d got the striker we we’re after close season I suspect it wouldn’t have.been.

What a stupid way to manage players.
Chelski have handled the Sturridge situation (didn’t want to play wide toys pram etc.), much better by flogging him to Bindippers well in advance of the window and now have £12m to spend on Ba.

Not sure how much truth there is to this, but I hear from my contacts with the club that all aspects of our contract offer to Ba were ‘acceptable’ but he still wanted a clause built into the contract allowing him a ‘minimum fee release’ and a pay off cash sum for him (and his agents) upon a future transfer. The club were unwilling to add this to the contract offer and saw it as being held to ransom somewhat. Therefore stated that the offer was the offer and he was to take it or leave it. He chose to leave and look elsewhere.

The right call made my club on this I feel. Nobody bigger than the team.

I don’t really see why Ba is wanted by Chelsea. The way they play wouldn’t fit in with Ba. His talents are finished and that’s about it. His hold up play has been poor and his passing (on those rare occasions) has been poor. I don’t see why Pardew plays him as a target man. He’s a fantastic player for us when he’s infront of goal but I can’t see him as a chelsea player. His talents are too limited

Sirtoon – The clauses are mainly to protect NUFC in the event anything happens to his knee – it limits his salary – and gives him “Bonuses” for playing games.

Ba has never said he wont remove his “sell-on” clause but he wants a justifiable increase in what NUFC pay him – rumoured to be as little as £20k/week. The only reason the clauses have not been removed is because the club (Lambsarse I guess) refuse to pay him a rate comparable to his goal scoring feats.

Ba remains on peanuts by Premier League standards, still plays every game he is selected for, still scores goals for NUFC.

ba humbug .. they have plenty of players to choose from .. we tried Cisse at the start of the season and he couldn’t score so we had to keep Ba playing .. if Cisse was scoring like Ba .. then Ba wouldn’t be getting on the pitch until he signed his new deal ..
Paps agreed on the team .. confidence is the huge factor here .. nevermind Pardews calamitist decisions up until december .. he had us playing ulta defensive with no good attack .. the attack is getting sorted now but we need the confidence at the back now .. and most importantly the defensive midfielders not to lose the ball .. a win against everton and a couple of decent signings and top 8 may not be out of the question .. think positive.. 🙂

Agree with all the lads above.
Regardless of the Ba situation we need another quality forward.
I recall a load of posts wanting Sturridge last year. But he’d probably be more trouble.

Just like most fans I’m totally peed off with the prima donna attitude of even the most ordinary of EPL players. Some of them are like animals out on the town. They earn a fortune because of TV revenues, not because they are worth it compared with the rest of us working folk. Even one extra £50k payday would set me up for life let alone every week.
Ba deserves top whack for his skills but his advisors are greedy beyond

Graeme, you used the right word. Rumours. But if it is a rumour against the club, some are happy to criticise, but if a rumour against Ba they leap to his defence.

Pardew said they have tried to remove the clause wi a contract Demba is happy with. H said they haven’t been able to do it. Now if NUFC want an appearance based salary, then why Might that be?

IF there is an issue with the knee, and I repeat IF. Then the club will be extremely guarded on a 4 year deal on big wages. And rightly so. But if they have tried to remove the clause, then their offer would ave to be good to get Demba to consider removing it.

Neither has happened so there is something wrong somewhere.

I agree with ya there on your point about our two faced fans
It’s disgusting that they want BA injured after all he’s achieved here.
We really have some pitiful and spiteful fans
He’s got advisors and too many of them at that and they all want their piece of pie.
He played for west ham and had the clause and left them for nothing when thy dropped down.
He’s been top class and a natural finisher although its annoying he has this clause hanging over him.
He’s been bangin in goals for us and on poor mans wages compared to other top strikers.
I wish he could stay and take out the clause but we need to get rid if he doesn’t want to do that.
No matter if he stays or goes we need another striker in so I’d rather the club concentrate on that for now.

BA is a big boy everyone is quick to blame the advisers and agent but ba could quit easily tell them he wants to stay at nufc . The simple fact is that this was all pre planed and the release clause proves that we were a planned steping stone .
However i think he will get more money when he leaves but to the detrement of his own playing career
