More Bad News – Another Player Out For Four Weeks

2:17 pm, Monday, December 31st, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 30 Comments

Well things are going from bad to worse at Newcastle, with the news just announced that Danny Simpson broke a toe during the first half of the Arsenal game, and will now be out for up to four weeks.

Danny Simpson – out four weeks with broken toe

It’s bad news for Newcastle, and even more reason why we need to bring Mathieu Debuchy in as soon as possible from Lille, but we have no idea who will play right back on Wednesday night against Everton.

Maybe Davide Santon could switch to right back and Shane Ferguson come in at left back, or James Tavernier comes in as a direct replacement for Danny, and of course Vurnon Anita can also play at right back, but we really need his skill in the center of the park.

This is what a frustrated And Pardew said today:

“Maybe he should have came off at half-time.” “But he will be out for three or four weeks.”

Newcastle have been completely decimated this season by the loss of so many players with injuries, and it seems to be continuing – when will it end?

And as a side note this will complicate Newcastle’s chances of moving Danny Simpson out in January for a fee, before his contract runs out at the end of June, and he becomes a free agent and can leave for nothing.

We need a win against Everton on Wednesday night despite all this turmoil, and a very crowded treatment room.

    Tads
That’s what I thought but that’s the case otherwise they wouldn’t be selling their best players.

    Check
Oh yes, let’s drop our top scorer. That will work out well…

So he is out for 4 weeks the length of time the window is open so would fail any medical then by the time he is fit the window is shut then leaves for free in the summer and we get nothing for him this January. Sounds a bit dodgy that lol

    Were’s the bad news?

    Is that right ?
Simmo continued playing at Gooners with a broken toe ?
Would explain his errors and mean Pards really should have subbed him. Problem is that Fergy is no FB sub anyway and should not be asked to play that position.

    Tequila
Fair enough. I can’t remember if Perch has played at LB for us or not to be honest. He has been ok at RB and not very impressive at CB when I’ve saw him in those positions.

Are you trying to fill Catchy’s size 9s ?

  • 10 Tsunki // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:30 PM

I would have thought he would have protected himself by not running forward and wildly shooting so much, but hey whats done is done. The defence needs a rejig anyway, shame we have to trot out a new back line against everton, but for all those cries of chucking on streete and tavernier, and putting Santon in his ‘ideal’position at RB, let us watch the whole saga unfold. Careful what you wish for. I really hope whatever it is works ok or Everton will have the freedom of the City.

I remember when he did it, Podolski ran at him and as normal Simmo backed way, way off and ended up banging in to the advertisement boards. We can all agree it wasn’t through a hard tackle from Simmo anyway.

    Bad news?

  • 13 tequilamag // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:32 PM

Super I think Simmo was injured for the away game at Everton and Perch and Anita both played 45 mins at RB. Can`t remember which one had a good half and which had a mare. Anybody else remember?

Anybody saying Ba should start, whilst he is trying to manufacture a move away from the club, must think they support Hartlepool or Gateshead or some other piss pot club.

Never have i witnessed a player brazenly try and move away from the toon for one reason and one reason only MONEY, he could play out his contract, (you know the one he was happy to sign) and move for free in 18 months, but clearly he wants his hands on this 2.5 million.

Has been incredibly selfish on the pitch and it has affected Cisse terribly who is working his knackers off.

Cisse through the middle will match Ba’s goals long term and the lad is a diamond of a bloke as well.

I repeat he should be stuck in the reserves to rot. Imagine any other club allowing a player to behave like this and he still picks his spot in the team to the detriment of others, i cant, its a disgrace and he should be moved on or dropped.

  • 15 Spreadthetoon // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:34 PM

There is a deal on the table from NUFC if Ba wants to stay on…..
With Simmo out we need to sign another RB……all good teams should have a minimum cover of 2 in each position, for competition!

  • 16 tequilamag // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:37 PM

Check you talk about Cisse over the long term, I am talking about the 18 games left this season to keep in the PL.
Not much use for us if he only finds his form when we are in the Championship.

  • 17 Kyo // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:38 PM

    How is this bad news?

Broken toe my arse. He knows Debuchy is replacing him lol

  • 18 melv1881 // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:40 PM

I’m not Simpsons biggest fan but I think some of you guys need to start going to some games before commenting! Santon was far worse than simmo against arsenal and has been responsible for so many goals we’ve conceded this year. Yes santons good going forward but he’s a liability as a defender

  • 19 JP...from The Rock // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:41 PM

If he played on with a broken toe then much appreciated to play in that sort of pain, that couldn’t have been easy. I still feel with broken toe or not he would have left his position unmarked for some of the opposition’s goals regardless.

I seriously hope the Debuchy transfer is finally going through because we definitely need an improvement from Simpson.

  • 20 mot7 // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:46 PM

Thought simpson had been playing with a broken right leg juging by the way he tries to swing them crosses in .
As for santon i think he would benefit from a centre half that can talk to him and keep him positionaly right he gets caught out to far up the pitch mainly because we dont keep hold of the ball very well .

  • 21 Solaidback // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:49 PM

Out for 4wks will give us 3 days to sell him at the end of the window, not bad considering we sold Carroll within hours.. lol

Only prob is how much he also wants as wages will put other clubs off from looking to buy him, he’ll resist any offers so that he can leave on a free in the summer & demand higher wages with having no transfer fee involved…

  • 22 BennygivesmeTinglyBalls // Dec 31, 2012 at 2:58 PM

Maybe Simpson has had a broken toe this whole season explaining the reason he is utter shite. Its not bad news at all really. If we can get a win against Everton i think with our best players coming back we will rocket back up the league. I just wish it had been gutierrez who was out for 4 weeks…

  • 23 magillc // Dec 31, 2012 at 3:05 PM

Chances are we could have Debuchy for Wednesday so hopefully we should be all right.

Not good for getting any money for Simpson though unless he feels a bit of an arsehole for getting injured and consequently feels he owes nufc something, which could mean he signs a year extension but who knows, looks to me as if he’s leaving on a free.

  • 24 mot7 // Dec 31, 2012 at 3:10 PM

when simpson goes he will drift from club to club in the lower reaches of the prem and prob the 1 division . He doesnt know how good he has got it .
On the other hand maybe he now knows he s been found out and that his days as a regular starter on rapidly coming to a end .

  • 25 obatoyou // Dec 31, 2012 at 3:24 PM

    is debuchy coming tomorrow?
    or Jan 31st?
If a player arrives Jan 2, can he play on Jan 2?

  • 26 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 31, 2012 at 3:24 PM

That is bad news. We will struggle to get rid of him now. The only plus point is that we won’t concede as many sloppy goals.

  • 27 breno95 // Dec 31, 2012 at 3:45 PM

Kets and all the other Simpson haters
    Bunch of tossers.
Gives his all every game, reliable and how many so called PL superstars would have stayed on pitch with a broken bone in their foot?
Too quick to judge some of you lot but then again alot on here know nothing about football or the workings of transfers, agents, fees etc…….
Simply clueless but hey it’s all about opinions eh????

  • 28 Rotonda heights // Dec 31, 2012 at 6:37 PM

breno wind your neck in pal.

Any one of us would give 100% every match and play for nowt, but we’re not good enough and nor is Simpson.

  • 29 Marzy // Dec 31, 2012 at 7:38 PM

Lay of Simmo! We all praise the lads such as Collo,Shearer,Lee etc etc when they fight for the cause & give 100% even when injured & we all support that & wish the other 8 to 10 players on the pitch could show the same sort of passion!
Simmo regardless of what your personal opinion on his abilities as a RB he has always given 100% to the cause, ashame some people can’t recognise that instead of slating the poor guy.
“My opinion before the haters come on hear is he’s a average player working hard for the team and granted he makes mistakes “like all players” but I will always support my TEAM!!.

  • 30 Luke-A-Like // Dec 31, 2012 at 10:35 PM

Wouldn’t mind keeping Simmo as a solid replacement for Debuchy. If we just buy players and sell a player our squad will not get any bigger and our depth will not improve, might as well try and keep him
