Demba Ba’s £7M transfer to Chelsea has been put off for the moment, as Chelsea have refused to pay the £2M Ba’s agents are asking for the deal, and it seems that Chelsea have offered the Senegal striker £70K/week in wages, which is less than they were asking for by at least £10K/week.

Demba Ba – what does this man think?

The Telegraph is also reporting that of the £7M release clause,  Ba himself is due around £2.5M, and there was news of that last January, when the news of the release clause was initially leaked by then Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp.

And that payment is being termed a loyalty bonus which is a little bit ironic given that he could be leaving Newcastle half way through the season, with Newcastle not in particularly good shape.

But it seems that both parties are calling each other’s bluff,  with Ba’s agents calling off the talks on Sunday night, as they want to see what other offers will come in for the striker – but one thing that is of interest is Newcastle’s offer seems fairly close to what Chelsea have offered the Senegal striker.

So it seems to us the agents aren’t worried too much about where Ba ends up – it will simply be to the highest bidder – and it seems they have created a bidding way which could be to their advantage, to drive up Ba’s wages and maybe their fees as well.

This is looking terrible for Newcastle and Alan Pardew says it’s affecting the club at all levels, and it’s getting to be an embarrassment to football – and we hope the FA can investigate what is really going on with his agents – but we’ll not hold out breath on that one.

But what is clear is that this is all about money – and to us this shames football.

What do you think?
