Chelsea Refuse Ba’s Agents Fees Of £2M – Standoff Continues

Demba Ba’s £7M transfer to Chelsea has been put off for the moment, as Chelsea have refused to pay the £2M Ba’s agents are asking for the deal, and it seems that Chelsea have offered the Senegal striker £70K/week in wages, which is less than they were asking for by at least £10K/week.

Demba Ba – what does this man think?

The Telegraph is also reporting that of the £7M release clause,  Ba himself is due around £2.5M, and there was news of that last January, when the news of the release clause was initially leaked by then Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp.

And that payment is being termed a loyalty bonus which is a little bit ironic given that he could be leaving Newcastle half way through the season, with Newcastle not in particularly good shape.

But it seems that both parties are calling each other’s bluff,  with Ba’s agents calling off the talks on Sunday night, as they want to see what other offers will come in for the striker – but one thing that is of interest is Newcastle’s offer seems fairly close to what Chelsea have offered the Senegal striker.

So it seems to us the agents aren’t worried too much about where Ba ends up – it will simply be to the highest bidder – and it seems they have created a bidding way which could be to their advantage, to drive up Ba’s wages and maybe their fees as well.

This is looking terrible for Newcastle and Alan Pardew says it’s affecting the club at all levels, and it’s getting to be an embarrassment to football – and we hope the FA can investigate what is really going on with his agents – but we’ll not hold out breath on that one.

But what is clear is that this is all about money – and to us this shames football.

What do you think?

How the hell can anyone get a ‘Loyalty’ bonus when walking out mid-way through a contract???
Football has well and truly lost touch with common sense

@70k per week. Ba will make 18m in 5 years plus 2.5m “loyalty Bonus” Thats not bad considering other bonues he’ll collect from winning….etc
How greedy can his agents be even if Chelsea offered them 1.5m? Their client suffers

Agents are the scrum of the football world, there should be a cap on what they can earn of a club or the player should pay there fee for finding them the club # greedyc**ts

Happy New Year Toon fans. Here’s to a 2013 more like the first six months of 2012. Demba Ba, forgive him for he knows not what he does.

Ed, the situation we are now in with Demba was created BY NUFC and FOR NUFC. The club wanted to make sure they wouldn’t be liable if his knee went, or if he was injured. They have paid him peanuts, by Premier League terms and wont pay him what he’s worth to remove the Buy-Out clause.

I actually feel sorry for Demba

The club created this problem and the club are not prepared to pay to make it go away.
