Newcastle Make Offer For French U21 Center-Back

The Newcastle journal is reporting this morning that it is their understanding that Newcastle have made an offer for 21 year-old French U21 center-back Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, and certainly we’ve been heavily linked with this player over the last week or so.

Nicolas Isimat-Mirin – Newcastle have made an offer

Isimat-Mirin plays for Valenciennes in the French first division and he has played 5 times for the France U20 side and 3 times for the U21 side and he tuned 21 in November, so he is an up and coming youngster.

His French club are short of cash and seem willing to sell their player this month, although Liverpool were thought to be in the lead for the player.

However, one advantage Newcastle have when a club is short of cash is they play for the player up front in cash, and that allows Newcastle to pay a little bit less than the competition but still offer a good deal to the selling club.

And the youngster has only eighteen months left on the three year contract he signed for Valenciennes in 2011, a year after he moved to Valenciennes from Rennes.

A report in Le 10 Sport a few days ago said that Liverpool were looking to buy the 21 year old in January, but then loan him back to Valenciennes for the rest of the season, and that’s a deal that could interest his club.

Isimat-Mirin is valued somewhere around £4M, and probably less than that – but it’s good to hear that Newcastle have put in what looks to be the first bid form any club for the top French youngster.

It looks like Newcastle will tie up a deal for french International right back Mathieu Debuchy later this week, after a fee around 5M has been agreed with his club Lille, and now they also want to bring in a center-back.

Isimat-Mirin made his debut for Valenciennes in 2010, and he has played– and he has appeared 68 times for his current club and scored 3 goals.

Ok…if (big IF) we can get this one through the door, we just have to lock in Debuchy, a senior CB and a striker (would prefer Guidetti to Remy, but beggars can’t be choosers here. We are talking about MA and DL after all).

You know much about this lad?
Done a bit of you tube scouting since we were linked but cant say i’ve heard much about him other than he’s a promising youngster whos pretty strong at the back!
Would hope he’s not the only CB we’d bring in though!

Ok looks like we are makeing some moves for players in this window,if they are true but what gets me is why don’t we get british players for the team.there is enough good talent out there but just not getting a chance to play for the top flight clubs,or as british football got that bad its all about money.

@magpiesyd I would say they aren’t looking at bringing in British players due to the fact that they are going to have to pay over the odds for them. Better bang for the buck buying foreign players.

Maybe this is the senior centre back we will get? Maybe he is deemed capable? Cant see the point in bringing another youngster alongside curtis goode? Cant really get my head around this. Why spend that much on someone who isnt ready for 1st team. Boggling

    re-post from last post

My guesses for the transfer window are:

A cheap CB from a mid-table european club, probably in the age range of 21-25. This could be –
    Willy Boly
    Virgil van Dijk
    Jeffrey Gouweleeuw
    Erik Pieters

Don’t think we will be able to get players like Douglas, Sakho, Alderweireld or Mbwia. Each of these players are playing for a club that is competing at the top of their respective leagues or/and thinks they will get a better deal in the summer.

Attacking wise, i think it all depends on whether Ba leaves or not. If Ba stays, i don’t think they will be any other incomings. If he leaves then, i would guess the following:

Loic Remy – Could be bought for a smallish outlay if you take into account the money from the Ba transfer.
Miralem Sulejmani – Ajax want to sell, player wants to leave, 6 months left on, can play on the left, right or as secondary striker as part of a front 3.

So in summary, i think Debuchy should be in soon (hopefully before the Everton game) and then it will be 1 other defender. Any other changes will depend on the Ba situation.

    p.s. Happy New Year

This lad is a great prospect bu not too sure where he fits in will be more mobile and is a better ball player than Williamson ,but really very little experience notvsurehow he strengthens us at present .Tomkins now that’s a different proposition but can’t see us being able to get him
Mirin and Curtis goode can see being a top partnership in 3 years maybe that isthe plan

Have heard a lot about this lad in the last few weeks .

I think Carr has scouted him, but if we get him? I think we are slowly piecing together the makings of the French National Team?

Not that i,m complaining, because there is a rich vein of talent in France, it may be an idea to start looking at our own home/grown talent though ! Holland or Germany are also packed full of Gems playing in the lower leagues ! And the youth teams in the Eerdivisie.
Maybe it is time to start scouting in other countries, aswel as Le France. The Talent is there, we just need to go get it !

Isimit Mirin is being chased by others too, however, and is supposed to be a good player. Wonder if Niafron knows anything about him?

TADS – Proper little Dennis wise you are lad! No offence of course – just messing.

Yeah Isimat-Mirin is quality. I spoke on here yesterday of direct contact from Newcastle with Valenciennes and thankfully it has been proven (more or less) today.

The lad is one of the most highly rated players in France at the moment. 6 (poss 7) caps for France U21’s and even being touted by some as a possible surprise inclusion in the 1st team. Stands 6’2 and pacey. Great in the air and strong. A proper ball playing defender.

He is being touted at between £4-5mil but his agent ( Mikel Beck ) but I reckon a solid bid of £2.75m – £3mil) should be enough. As for the club itself – they have a good feeling withe regards Newcastle and how they treat there players properly without forcing them into a first XI. Despite our dodgy 1st half of the season – NUFC’s rep in France is sky high.

“Attacking-wise, i think it depends on whether BA leaves or not. “?

    Toon Smart –

One player, i don,t care who he is should,nt be a factor in the sale or purchase for another in the team? Some would argue that the BA affair is screwing up the whole club, well a lot has been said and written, and this whole thing is starting to effect the rest of the team, from the trainer downwards.

Whether he leaves or not, does,nt particularly interest me, he is the top scorer, but his influence and that of his representatives appear to be affecting the whole club, and that fact is wrong and it should,nt be like that!

This Mirin kid is supposed to be a talent and if we can get him i think we should but i can,t emphasize this enough lads !

One Player Should,nt Hold The Whole Club To Ransom ! Which i think is happening here?

Appears to be strong/quick. And young. Our other centre backs are 30 nearly 31, 29, 26 nearly 27 and 27. Sensible signing. Hopefully we sell Willo in summer and get a better CB too.

Yanga-Mbiwa would be my first choice but he signed a new contract and he’d be at least £10m
