It seems that the training ground has taken on a new air of confidence at Newcastle this week, with Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor now in training and trying to get fit for a possible mid-January return to the side, which will be welcomed by Newcastle fans.
Yohan Cabaye – back in training
Newcastle are coming off a terrible November and December, and in 14 games in all competitions we won only three, drew two and lost the other nine, including eight of ten league games, which is why we are now only two points above the drop zone.
Alan Pardew talked about that bad run today in the local press:
“I have been in situations like this before and if you look at the team and you think ‘wow, that is our best team playing out there and we are losing games,’ then you do have a problem.” “We have not reached that stage yet. It would be nice to get to the stage when we do get out our best team and lose – then I really would be moaning! I have not really had that chance yet.”
“Everton could be a platform for us, a difficult platform but no more difficult than Man United last year.” “I feel within the team we can beat them. It’s not like I am in a position where I think the team has massively malfunctioned and we have a problem.”
“We played Arsenal and then Man U away from home and gained no points.” “I don’t think that is too surprising. The last 20 minutes at Arsenal were really not us.” “Our stats and everything I have seen suggests to me we were tired, not just physically but tired mentally.”
“Some of our positional play was poor and we paid the ultimate penalty for that.” “I hope to think we will not get ourselves in that situation for the rest of the season.” “However, we have to be on guard tonight because the games are coming thick and fast.”
“It is another top team so I want to rest the body and the mind rather than work with it.” “I think that’s where we are at the moment.” “Having said that, the training ground on Monday morning and it looked a lot healthier.” “Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor were running around cones, Anita was training, Williamson was training.”
“The first team are all coming through bar Danny Simpson. I think everyone felt ‘OK, this looks a little better.’” “To win more games, that would be nice.” “Take November and December out of the year and it was really a great year for the club.” “Unfortunately, you cannot take them out of equation.”
“That means next year we have to put 12 months good together. That would be fantastic if we could do it.”
It will be a tough game tonight against Everton – but let’s say it to get it off my chest – another defeat would be absolutely devastating and a draw would only be so-so.
What we really need is a win and start to put some wins together in the next few games against beatable teams such as Norwich (A), Reading (H) and Aston Villa (A), before we take on Chelsea (H) and Tottenham (A).
If we cannot start winning some games, then we’ll be low down in the league in January and February and that’s never good.

Comment #4All I hear is excuses. When Cabs and Benny played we still lost, or maybe got 1 point. But we palyed shite at home..
We need to change to 442 or buy a Winger instead of Cisse, he is no good out on the right. So my Advice stop playing Cisse as a winger. rather have obertoon and mav for tonights game and Ba in the middle

If financial stability brings on everything I mentioned in that previous post then I think I would prefer a state of anarchy.

your discription of the last 5 years under Ashley could be used to cover the last 40 years of our History apart from a couple of brief spells where we looked good but still won nowt. Getting knocked out the FA cup early is what NUFC is most famous for!

Comment #9Everton wont be turning up tonight with any charitable intentions – they will be coming to hammer in a few more nails if the can.
Pardew will have to have his homework completed, the game plan sorted and every single player gagging to get at them. It will take a full 90 minutes graft from every single player to get anything out of Everton.
If we are truly up for it, we CAN win this game.

Comment #11rainrix @2 – I think your report has some substance to it – just located photographic evidence of the lady in question and her flat mate after just having dropped off Debuchy in Exhibition Park.
Not claiming any scoops though.

Comment #13so you honestly think we wouldn’t of ended up in this state under shepherd.. i ain’t an ashley fan , far from it but when you see how shepherd n co took 40million out the club a year, they robbed it blind and pulled the wool over our eyes with marquee signings yet not doing much better than 13th place for last few year..no youth set up.. if we went down under that regime we could well b in portsmouths position
