It’s looking like Alan Pardew and Newcastle will have Shola Ameobi at Newcastle over the next six weeks after the 31 year-old Newcastle striker was omitted from the final Nigerian squad for the African Cup of Nations to take place in South Africa.
Shola Ameobi – has one sub appearance for Nigeria in November in Miami
The Newcastle manager has insisted all along that Shola would not go to South Africa, but that has been met with threats from the Nigerian Football Federation to take the case to FIFA, and there’s still a chance that could happen, with Nigeria’s media officer saying that Nigeria’s Football Federation are considering their next move.
Nigeria’s media officer Ben Alaiya has this to say about the situation:
“Shola’s refusal to answer calls gave Keshi no other option than to allow him to concentrate on his club.” “The coach and team secretary made several attempts to reach Shola but there was no answer. A call back never came.” “A decision on the next move will be made at the appropriate time.”
We wouldn’t put it past the Nigerian Football Federation to report Newcastle to FIFA for the events of the last couple of weeks.
But we’ll have to wait and see, but reports that Newcastle are now home and free on the Shola Ameobi affair are probably premature at best.
Cheick Tiote has probably played his last game for Newcastle for up to seven weeks, as he will travel later this week to join up with the Ivory Coast squad later this week, and will likely miss the FA Cup third round tie at Brighton on Saturday.

Comment #1“What is a club in any case?
Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it.
It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes.
It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.
It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

Comment #3Shola is very loyal to this team, he opted to stay when we are in trouble. He may not the best player we have, but I have to salute his loyalty.
Ba, thanks for the memories, hopefully you don’t score against us and celebrate by kissing chelsea logo.

Comment #5There is no puzzle here we are in a dog fight and the home fans booing your own team is a disgrace.
The fair weather season ticket holders should do one too.
Our traveling supporters are the heart of this club the ones that sang for Joey Barton at QPR and sang at Man United and Arsenal.

I am a season ticket holder (for over 50 years), am not a fair weather one, just someone that does not have the resources to travel away now.
Yes I scream and shout at the team, and may I add the manager, they may be trying their best, but those who are making up the current first 11, some of them are just not good enough, and that most definitely includes the manager who’s tactical ability is just about zero.
As for Sholas loyalty, yes he may be, but the question is would he be in a PL squad at any other top PL club, that I very much doubt, who has in all the time he has been at the club ever put a bid in for him with the aim of improving their squad, remember he went out on loan to Stoke and they sent him back. He cannot win the ball in the air, was constantly been out jumped by Distin, who is 4 years older and light years quicker, has a much better football brain, so yeah loyal he may be, but I reckon he, he will be earning twice as much in a week as I have in a year, so its not loyalty, its more a case of where would I get the same elsewhere.

At the minute we’re in a relegation battle – fact
Taylor and Cabaye back soon – fact
Debuchy signing – fact
Divnt gan getting on your highhorses till we see if the other targeted players are aquired eh?
At the end of tge day no-one can grumble about any of our recent signings – if we sign they deliver, so have faith!
Ok…..Shola – listen we all know he’s never cut the bacon, or put the effort in there to cut it, but at a time when ge’s finally got a call up to play for nigeria – which is a massive achievement by the way – he’s digging in deep to help us, so ive got total respect for the lad! Lest we forget he is the slayer of tge uneashed…..
Now more than ever we have to support the team to rebuild confidence! Howay the lads

Comment #9Tiote is responsible for many goals against us by giving away many needless free kicks (last night!) and I for one will not be sad if he does not play for a few weeks.
What does everyone else feel about it?
