Debuchy’s First Interview – I Will Help Newcastle Get Higher

11:38 am, Friday, January 4th, 2013 by Ed Harrison · 43 Comments

Mathieu Debuchy has given his very first interview to nufcTV, and he certainly seems over the moon to have joined Newcastle, and the top French International has come out and said his job initially is to help to get Newcastle further up the league table.

Newcastle United V Everton - Premier League

Mathieu Debuchy – in the crowd on Wednesday night

The French International has signed a five and a half year deal, and he will be at the club until the summer of 2018.

This is what Debuchy told nufcTV this morning in his first interview at the club:

“My ambition is to bring the club up to the highest possible position, because the Club is not in its right position.” “We have to get higher and I will try everything to help us get there.” “That is my ambition at the moment, and then to perform as quickly as possible.”

“I will give everything for the club. I will give my best to give my best performances and get the club to the highest position possible.” “I will play like I used to for Lille, with the same qualities.”  “I don’t leave anything on the field and give more, and I hope I will bring a lot to this team.”

“I like attacking. I like getting forward down the right and I will always be strong in the challenge.” “Don’t forget, the most important thing is to defend. After that, if I feel better, I can bring something extra for the attackers.” “I hope I can be ready as soon as possible, to bring something new to the team.”

It’s obvious that Alan Pardew is a huge admirer of this lad, not only because he’s a good player, but he’s also a first class professional who gives his everything for the teams he plays for – and his character reminds us a lot of a certain Steven Taylor.

And the 27 year-old will no doubt be looking forward to his home debut for Newcastle – probably against Reading on 19th January – and hopefully we can get a win in that game – although Reading are an improving side at the moment.

It’s too soon for Debuchy to play at Brighton tomorrow, but he will be in the side at Norwich City a week tomorrow – a win in that game is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Mathieu is an excellent signing for Newcastle.

Comments welcome.

Anyone else getting loads of whitespace at the end of the article? It’s making scrolling really tricky.

    Ed?

Good on Debuchy … bad on why we don’t seem to have any cash.
Ashley’s had a free ride on Carroll’s 35M … time to spend some of the transfer budget you’ve saved since Carroll.

Still hate him!! They make the club a laughing stock.

Get Out of Our Club!! – first in 2013 – sorry I just needed too. :-)

Now for the ST and CB.
Not one or the other but both – and quality with it.

Don’t mind who as long as they are international standard players and I don’t mean San Marino

Lille play 4-3-3 think it has been pards play to play this way since we signed cabaye but What worries me is i think he trys to play to neutralize opositions strengths rather than play to our own

  • 13 Toonleee // Jan 4, 2013 at 11:48 AM

Me too and my family hahajust gone round the house flashing this page saying handsome boy very worrying

  • 15 JackButler // Jan 4, 2013 at 11:48 AM

Whereas I’d love to see us bring a quality striker and a commanding center half, I simply can’t see us paying out for the two, so if it comes down to it I’d much rather we sign a center half and leave recruiting a striker until the summer

Very good, but please move along when they announcing the CB,or is the 7M profit (minus agents fees) for Demba Ba being used solely for the fee of Debuchy now that we are self sufficient and financially stable.

    Repost
also on that link theres about 4 tales of us in advanced talks with marseilles over remy, not in slightest way jumping on bandwagon, just hope theres the teeniest bit of truth in them. i reckon 13m for remy is a wee bit outlandish tho, dont think we’ll pay more than 7-9m for him, and thats why i believe we wont get him. Honestly think we will all be taken by suprise by whom ever we manage to get in.
This lad from Molde looks like a little gem btw, check out his stats, look first class. At 2.5m (reported) he would fit right in within Carrs remit and if rumours are true he would be our 1st choice cb buy….
    Keep the faith….

  • 27 SupaToonKid // Jan 4, 2013 at 11:58 AM

No. 26 Debuchy is going to be ripping down the right wing just like Santon on the left. How good does it feel to now have to full backs that can cross. :D

  • 28 derekm // Jan 4, 2013 at 11:58 AM

Aside from improving the quality down the whole of the right flank the other major factor in his arrival is Cabaye’s commitment – there is no doubt Debuchy would not have come if his pal was planning to depart sometime soon.

  • 29 Dannyo // Jan 4, 2013 at 11:58 AM

    @WWYCD
Haha, the prettiest zombie apocalypse ever? ;)

    Bye bye Ba. It’s official!

    Welcome Debuchy!

  • 33 nufc 11 // Jan 4, 2013 at 11:59 AM

I thought Leon Best had the making of a CF could get 10/15goals a season to sell was madness for 2million? Same for Forester 2.5million and I hear Buffon saying the lad was world class and we sell for 2mill brilliant.

  • 34 BelfastMagpie // Jan 4, 2013 at 11:59 AM

I’ve always thought Brown nose Butler played for the other team like.

So im not suprised about him. :-)

  • 35 Dannyo // Jan 4, 2013 at 12:01 PM

  • 38 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jan 4, 2013 at 12:03 PM

Dannyo….Story of my life mate. I bow to your superior speed :)

  • 39 TorqToon // Jan 4, 2013 at 12:06 PM

As much as we knew this was coming – the sight of Demba Ba holding up a Chelski shirt makes me feel sick!

But fair play to him – at least it wasn’t QPR.

  • 40 Rake // Jan 4, 2013 at 12:48 PM

Maybe Pardew was clever kowing Ba would go so he played Cisse on the wing to get fire in his belly to show he’s better than Ba after he left?

Obviously complete speculation but you have to remember everything we assume of Pardew is speculation as everything he says is just a front for the media.

  • 41 Sav // Jan 4, 2013 at 1:52 PM

Listen to Philippe Auclair interview on TalkSport to find out just how good this lad is. Auclair says he will be the France RB for the next 5 years. Lets hope he is the Newcastle RB for the same time. Full-back has ALWAYS been a weak spot in our teams, along with over-emphasis on no.9s perhaps. At last some quality and a player who is not afraid to receive the ball and make it work for him.

  • 42 Obafan // Jan 4, 2013 at 1:58 PM

Welcome Mathieu Debuchy. Finally I would say, but good thing to get the deal sorted as soon as this in this window. Also very good cause Cabaye will now certainly not go anywhere. A geed CB and a good striker needed and we will climb up the table very soon. Don’t forget we have a long list of injured players.

    1. As a CB I hope for Alderweireld (cause I am Belgian myself ;-) ) or Sakho (Lescott on loan would not be bad, but we need our own CB). I don’t know that Norwegian guy, so I can’t judge on that link. I hope we don’t go for Douglas, his attitude is a problem and he gets lots of critics every week in Studio Voetbal.

    2. As a striker I really hope we can get Loic Remy, he would be perfect to partner Papiss, who will bang in goals for fun.

    3. Ideal would be that we also can get Pieters, cause Santon is really having a bad spell the last couple of games.

    ——————-Krul———————–
    Debuchy – Alderweireld – Colo – Pieters
    ——————–Anita———————-
Ben Arfa ——- Cabaye ——- Marveaux
    —————Cissé – Remy—————–

After the recent games Marveaux can not be dropped and I also think Obertan deserves his chance cause he is getting better. Jonas is also a contender, simply because the guy shows passion, tho his crossing is not that good.

  • 43 northernirishtoon // Jan 4, 2013 at 8:14 PM

Always nice to get a new signing in. But need another two or three before the reading game. Lescott on loan I think is a great idea. He has a proven record in premier league and would certainly help us in a relegation battle whereas bringing in some 21 year old from fcuk knows where for 2 million is great for the future but not for the immediate situation we are in
