Newcastle are currently in negotiations with Marseilles over their striker Loic Remy, and while he is obviously Newcastle’s number one choice in this transfer window,, we don’t always get our first choice to Newcastle.
Guillaume Hoarau – 28 year-old PSG striker
That happened in the summer when we went after Dutch International Luuk de Jong big time, but he ended up joining Borussia Mönchengladbach, so we have to wonder who the back up targets are.
One is said to be former target Modibo Maiga at West Ham, but why would Newcastle go after this lad, when he’s been less than impressive for West Ham and has already failed a medical at Newcastle.
There was a report a couple of days ago that Newcastle could be interested in Guillaume Hoarau, the PSG striker, who has played 5 times for france and joined the Paris club from Le Havre in 2008.
This news could have been generated because the striker is available, since he has moved down the pecking order at PSG since the arrival of Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the club.
But he’s 28 years-old and doesn’t fit the profile of players Newcastle would like to bring into the club, and there’s even news today that Martin O’Neill of Sunderland is after the striker.
It’s not surprising that Newcastle may have been linked with this striker, but we don’t think there’s any truth in the story.
Maybe Sunderland will land him soon?
