The 27-year-old French international Mathieu Debuchy has finally signed along the dotted line for Newcastle, and the club has officially announced his signing this morning.
Mathieu Debuchy a Newcastle United player
This is what Debuchy said today after he officially became a Newcastle player:
“It is great to become a Newcastle United player.” “After many great years at Lille I felt I was ready for a new challenge, and cannot wait to play for such a big club in the best league in the world.”
“I hope I can bring something fresh to the team and help us get up to the highest possible position in the Premier League this season.” “I will give everything for this Club.”
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said this today:
“We are absolutely delighted to have finally secured the signature of Mathieu.” “It’s no secret we’ve been trailing him for some time now and to have reached this point fills me with great excitement and anticipation in respect of what he will be able to offer the team.”
“At the same time it’s a huge relief to actually have him with us now.” “He is an established top international player and it is a real coup for this club that we now have him at St. James’ Park.” “Mathieu will add real quality to our team, in terms of his ability, character and experience.”
“And I am sure he will quickly become a firm favorite among our fans too.”
This will give a huge lift to both the Newcastle squad and also to the fans (we need it), as Newcastle have brought in a top class full-back, who will surely help to strengthen the Newcastle defense.
Whereas there were some doubts about the loyalty – or the lack thereof of Demba Ba – there are none at all about this lad.
And we’re sure he will become a huge favorite with the fans, because he gives 100% in all games, and surely with Steven Taylor and Mathieu in the back four – both will seem to have Newcastle United tattooed on their foreheads. 😀
It’s no secret that Mathieu wanted his dream move to Newcastle in the summer, but he conducted himself so well after the huge disappointment, when the deal couldn’t be made.
These are the types of players we need at the club – now more than ever.
The fee is thought to have been €7M, which is around £5.7M with today’s exchange rate of 1.23 Euros/UK pound.
Howay the Lads!!

Comment #5@keegan Jr ashleys stake in rangers has nothing to do with less spending on newcastle. that’s akin to saying “you can open a new sports direct branch but can’t up ba’s wage enough” two totally separate pots of money for two totally separate things.

That’s pure bred bullocks.
He’s linked here. They thought he was going to Fulham but he’s not. And they’re linking him to us amongst others.
Also, it’s 2,5mill, not 3mill.
Dunno who’s twitter feed u got that off of, but it’s simply not true.
No one here knows where he’s going, it’s only speculation yet.

Comment #21Hatem – Do you have a link for that? Forren is a cracking player and been a star performer in Norway this season.
Linked with man Utd, Fulham and others. I have heard he is expecting to travel for a medical this week somewhere – but that could be anywhere.

Comment #22just seen on ss rumours page we being linked with Charlie Austin from Burnley !!! Aint seen much of him, does anyone have any opinions of him? Rumour says he has 23 goals in all comps this season, if that true may be worth a punt of say 5 – 7million? Any takers?http://www1.skysports.com/transfer-centre/your-rumours

From a previous thread. Not to accuse you of sweeping generalisations or anything but in defense of Scando managers, Laudrup is doing great.
Greatly looking forward to Debuchy. Just hope Percy doesn’t play him left wing!
What worries me is that when Cabs and Benny were fit and playing, it was in a 442 with Cabs way too deep and Benny stuck out on a wing and we were just as bad.
There are too many players looking like they are just going backwards under Pardew’s coaching, Tiote, Colo and Krul being cases in point.
Pardew says he holds his hands up and then makes more excuses than Souness used to as if that were possible. Just wonder what he does in training. The players don’t look happy, enthused or enjoying what they are doing and appear to be in need of a massive lift.
I see we had the pleasure of angryman the angry fan back, although I was never sure if he is jail for ashley too. I may have more in common with both of them now.
I don’t know why Ashley bought us and why there is still so little money to spend, even if he wants us to be self-sustaining.
I don’t know why we have an owner and director and manager who know nothing about football
I don’t know why we have an arrogant, stubborn third rate manager.
I’m 51 now and I said to my dad aged 86, at least he saw us win the F.A cup in 1955. Europa league should have been fun, but pardew wrote it off from day 1. Pardew’s whole persona is always downbeat and negative.
We need a technically competent coach with a cheerful, open sunny and optimistic disposition, not a miserable dour bulls……r. In short we need someone to give us a FEEL GOOD factor

I was aiming more to the norwegian ones, hehe.
Altho Solskjaer has done great here in his first two seasons as a manager, to think he’s ready to manage Newcastle United is a step too big yet i think.
And what we don’t need now should something happen to AP is someone who needs probably a years learning curve…

Comment #29Fog… Yeah random rumours from what could be the equivalent of a broadmoor patient. I wouldn’t pay to much attention, we’ve been linked with him in the distant past and no doubt someones just digging up old cack. I think that 23 goals was for the whole of 2012, still not too shabby

He’s linked with us, Sunderland, Everton, Fulham and Man Utd.
Dagbladet doesn’t claim anything, they base their article on what a local paper in Molde has written.

I can see how a manager can make outfield players go backwards eg Tiote, Colo. But how the hell can Pardew be a fault for Krul underperforming???????

Ed?
Good on Debuchy … bad on why we don’t seem to have any cash.
Ashley’s had a free ride on Carroll’s 35M … time to spend some of the transfer budget you’ve saved since Carroll.
Still hate him!! They make the club a laughing stock.

Comment #38also on that link theres about 4 tales of us in advanced talks with marseilles over remy, not in slightest way jumping on bandwagon, just hope theres the teeniest bit of truth in them. i reckon 13m for remy is a wee bit outlandish tho, dont think we’ll pay more than 7-9m for him, and thats why i believe we wont get him. Honestly think we will all be taken by suprise by whom ever we manage to get in.
This lad from Molde looks like a little gem btw, check out his stats, look first class. At 2.5m (reported) he would fit right in within Carrs remit and if rumours are true he would be our 1st choice cb buy….
Keep the faith….
