We played better football under souness than we do with Pardew.

  • 3 Toon1978 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:28 PM

STOP BLAMING PARDEW!!!!! He has injuries left right and centre. He is not being backed by the board enough. THE BLAME LIES WITH THE F…ING BOARD!

  • 4 Black and White with an army lol // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:28 PM

    useless utter useless

  • 5 fog on the tyne // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:28 PM

Ficking shit that. Even our end was quiet, unreal. Pardew needs to have a long hard with himself. Only consolation i have is a nice 12 pack of tiger waoting for me. Now lets try and find the bus…..

  • 6 Big Pappa Cissé // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:28 PM

Just a small club in the North East after all. Under Ashley and Pardew that is

  • 7 fray bentos // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:29 PM

to all those posting during the game

I really wonder how much of the game some of you actually watch, while reading and posting on here

  • 8 Tinman // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:30 PM

If Ashley doesn’t sack him he should walk. Anyone defending him should be ashamed

  • 9 Beattie25 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:30 PM

ITS PARDEW THAT PICKS THE TEAM, PICKS THE TACTICS AND MOTIVATES THE PLAYERS!!!

HE IS AS MUCH TO BLAME AS THE BOARD!!!!!

  • 10 IITianToon // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:30 PM

Why the hell did he start with the two Ameobis.. Williamson is shite.. my God this is painful.

  • 11 davetoon // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:31 PM

where is the statement from Ashley or even Lameass?

every other board or president seems to take ownership yet the horrible twins just sit in silence and let pardew take all the sh1t

  • 12 Big Pappa Cissé // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:31 PM

If we don’t sign at least

    1 Cb
    1 striker

    I will give up

  • 13 t00ntime // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:31 PM

Stop blaming AP. we are in trouble in the league, thats more important. AP is focussing on the league. This season he doesnt give a sh1t about the FAcup.

Last season we had an Ateam and lost 1-0

We put out a Bteam and fans expect a win? No cause of injuries and our league postion AP didnt want to risk more play time and fatigue which leads to more injuries for a cup we were never going to win.

  • 14 89Norcal // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:31 PM

Of course we play better with 10 men.

    Typical too little too late

  • 15 casmag // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:31 PM

I just hope beyond all hope that this dire performance makes
Ashley cough up for some more first team players. Pardew needs to be backed in this window or else relegation beckons.

  • 16 TurkishFan101 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:32 PM

@Toon1978 No Mate you are wrong 100% Even at the start of the season with 100% fit squad we played hoof ball, every set piece to Williamson nothing change now has it? If we played good football on ground, fast short passing and set pieces which are not aimed to Williamson then we could of won this. We need a completely new start early to overcome this crap before its to late. Its all Pardew to blame, who else you think is responsible for this? yes we need to strengthen back four but we cannot even create in midfield cause of all the hoof-ball. The players are just following the set of instructions from Pardew. Pardew, Carver, Stone needs to all go

  • 17 gndtoon // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:32 PM

what blows my mind is how these lads play or are told to play … there was a instance in the second half where anita and bigi and just passing it between them … no movement whatsoever.

How is that ever going to accomplish anything ? is it not common sense to tell your players to add some movement to their game ? The movement of the ball from our players is absolutely disgusting.

  • 18 Eddie // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:32 PM

Right, first of all, on a positive note, i really liked what i saw of Tav at centreback (really swithced on, close to his man, reading the game) and also Dummy (good decision making, good passing, one lovely cross). Ranger wasn’t too shabby either.
Now for the negatives: Obertan (heartless = unforgivable – i actively dislike the man as of today), Sammy Ameobi – this kid thinks he’s better than he is and will probably not improve because of it. As for the rest, i’ll put their display under the heading “Pardew Out”.

  • 19 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:32 PM

This is truly pathetic and its becoming sick.

The entire country is laughing at us. Again. Injuries no injuries I am sorry but Brighton ……its utterly pathetic. Fire the whole second string team they are an utter joke all of em.

Stop blaming Pardew? We havent won a single game in how many now 12 games ? whats next losing to a 5th division Uganda n side.

  • 20 Black and White with an army lol // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:33 PM

toon1978, instead of you telling us to stop blaming pardew why dont you check pardew history with other clubs they havent been good at all except from leading the clubs to FA finals the rest he seems to never get them out of trouble but just goes down and down and thats were he’s taking us now

  • 21 CisseIsALegend // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:33 PM

Ashley and pardew are making a fool out of newcastle. How long will it be before pardew is sacked because we aren’t turning this bad run around. Will we be relegated before he is sacked. I think it should be now so that that scenario never happens…

  • 22 casmag // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:33 PM

And I for one am glad we are out of the F.A Cup as the league is far more important, however I am not happy with the performance.

  • 23 Cisse09 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:33 PM

10,11 or 12 men on the field.. Premier league, cup.. Europe; it don’t matter we are sh*t.. No balance in midfield ain’t all season! Any player we may not or may be linked with! Having watching this today,.. Would u?… Having watching us all season, would u? Shocking! And it’s all about tactics purely! The same players fringe and ‘so called 1st team’ played for us last season! Pardew got to big for his boots! Not sayin he should go! Well I’m stook! Mayb he should!!

  • 24 Charlie in the Gallowgate // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:34 PM

Whi that’s the biggest load of shite i”ve watched in many a year.
Ashley Pardew and the rest should give all the travelling supporters their money back plus a bonus for going. Shite, Shite, Shite – man of the match ed you must be joking.
Ashley – iether put your hands in your pocket or go !!!!!!!! cois we’re going nowhere with reserves like that – NO pasion, NO ability NO NOTHING – PATHETIC – THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WORLD

  • 25 Klam3r // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:34 PM

    Beattie25 @ 9

    Second that!

Performance doesn’t match the ability, and it’s not only one match. All but three this season, and that’s a manager responsibility.

Bigger and better squad – board. We all agree that we need better and more players at least.

  • 26 Jayden // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:35 PM

    Conclusions:
    Positives:
Dummett, Marveaux, Bigi and Anita were all decent.
    Negatives:
    Ameobi’s are sh*t
    Williamson is utter sh*t
    Abeid is overrated
No heart, no soul, no passion.

  • 27 toon1707 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:35 PM

Brighton fans singing can we play you every week at the final whistle just sums up how bad we are those saying the cup is not important are right but the performance is and that was shocking the team looked like they were not interested from the first whistle so pardew clearly can’t motivate them the starting 11 he started was a joke

  • 28 Jail for Ashley // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:35 PM

Alan Pardew” yeah it was a poor resuwt but make no bones about we ain’t ‘ad fuwl team out for awhile now, we’ve been honest and the players they was tired, we’ve had a difficult run, we’ve lost an important player and got one over the line we’ve got a couple of big players coming back who need to step up to the plate, make no bones about it we need to start applying ourselves a bit more “

  • 29 Toon Tang // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:35 PM

neither of sholas fouls were bookings , the ref was fuc ked . that lad who rolled over about 12 times and even looked at the ref as he were doing it should be banned from playing again and told to play for a highschool girls team . fu cking little c unt

  • 30 Tommyy // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:35 PM

  • 31 GAZ09 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:35 PM

  • 32 yorkshire_magpie // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:35 PM

I think our position last year was not down to pardew it was the vision and the flair of players like HBA and cabaye thats what got us there. Pardew was pure lucky last year. Hes proved it this season.

  • 33 gndtoon // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:35 PM

how does martinez get away with a relegation battle with wigan EVERY YEAR ???????????????????????????

because of how his players play, the tactics, the style. The man is not backed or has no money to spend, but still has a team that has some heart.

  • 35 Thump // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:36 PM

Utterly robbed of £30. The lads should hang their heads in shame. Not worthy of the black and white.

  • 36 Rotonda heights // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:36 PM

    conaldo

i think you’re living in a fantasy world. it’s like every match you think it’s just the current game. some of us know pardew’s form from west ham and charlton and have seen this coming a mile off.

12 defeats out of 14 matches (inc cups.) I’ve lost count

How bad has it got to get? Losing 6/7 on the spin should mean curtains. Pardew has the worst losing streak in both west hams and now our history.

pardew’s archaic, dark age tactics don’t work any more.
No plan b, no invention, just negative hoofball, playing his favourites and hoping something comes off. How can you truly suport this?

yes one good season when maybe we did well in spite of him, not because of him. So did Roeder.

Di matteo got sacked after winning the European cup
and the fa cup and being 3rd in the table. Why are our standards now so,so low?

  • 37 colwell // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:36 PM

Well at least we can stop calling Willo championship quality, he is found out at on that stage too.

  • 38 Toon1978 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:36 PM

    Beattie25

OK, SACK PARDEW. What next?????????? Start again building yet again? How many times are we gonna sack a manager? Young kids on the pitch that are not good enough. ASHLEY will not sack Pards you can shout all you want. Ashley needs to spend money. Even Mancini would struggle with our squad atm.

  • 39 t00ntime // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:36 PM

Our Ateam has started playing better football. Notgreat but better. Wait till the norwich game when 90% of our Ateam is there and then u can truly judge weather AP has leant anything or not this season.
Our Ateam hasnt played long ball since before man utd.

Our b team plays it against brighton. Obviously AP doesnt trust their composure etc. again wait till norwich, if we play long ball then, then AP has learnt nothing and probably deserves the sack. If we play passing AP has learnt something and we can hopeully start moving up the table

  • 40 CisseIsALegend // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:37 PM

The fact that we are out of the fa cup means nothing. That’s not going to change the results in the league.

  • 41 hainesy // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:37 PM

Days like these show me why it is that we don’t play the youngsters in the first team, not one person today boosted my opinion of them, Ranger was a hell of a lot better than Shola, actually tried to find the ball even at the death he seemed determined.

I saw this team as one that could at least try and do something, the fact that we managed barely 3/4 shots shows how lacking in quality we are.

Don’t want to seem like another doom and gloom guy but I think Pardews on his last legs right now. Hoping to see someone fresh come in, that said, who would come in?

I’d take Shearer back just for novelty! At least he’s a hater of Hoofball.

  • 42 JackButler // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:37 PM

The Cup was a distraction we could do without given our league position, plus a red card for one dive and one tackle/foul that the ref didn’t even see

    excellent point

  • 44 TurkishFan101 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:38 PM

@Toon1978 Sacking pardew does not mean rebuilding again, We can start new faster since if we had a manager which can communicate properly with the players and motivate them by playing very nice classy football it wont be a problem at all. Would you rather witness this football for another 7 years and get relegated or opt out for a change now?

  • 45 Beattie25 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:38 PM

  • 47 yorkshire_magpie // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:39 PM

How can you judge abeid over one game. You cant expect him to step up and perform in his first full game. I still think he will become a star.

  • 48 Transfer Sage // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:39 PM

I’m still not judging pardew til the end of the season.

He has a lot to make up but let’s see how we finish the year.

  • 49 ramboreilly // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:39 PM

Willo one of the worst centre backs i have seen play for nufc. How did we think we would get by with him as our 3rd choice cb.

  • 50 Nufc-83 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:39 PM

Jimley how can you explain even the youngsters showing no heart or desire along with not being able to do the basics i would expect from youngsters in non league football. On top of that regardless of who was on the field the players had no shape and looked long most of the time and so what is pardew playing at. Can anyone explain this please. Somebody just have a go because i am all out of excuses to even comfort myself.

  • 51 shaun83 // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:39 PM

Whether you want a manager change or not, now really isn’t the right time. It’s time for us to get behind the team 90 minutes of every game; the loudest home and away crowd in the league, we need to dig out of this, i for one dont want to be heading to brighton for a league game next season, and then deal with it in the summer if required.

  • 52 Black and White with an army lol // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:39 PM

bring in di matteo he’s an attacking manager/coach and would bring excellent football to the toon

  • 53 GeordieDan // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:39 PM

    Absolutely pathetic “performance”!!!

Those young players given a chance should be ashamed of themselves today.

Get them loaned out or shipped out.

And Williamson? What the hell is he doing still at our club? That’s the last chance I give him.

Couldn’t be more pissed off unless I’d travelled like those outstanding fans of ours.

Feel so sorry for you all.

  • 54 two steps forward one step back // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:40 PM

Out of that lot outfield I would only keep Dummet, Marv, Bigi, Anita.

Santon is playing poorly and Perch was getting hammered so they’d go to the reserves.

The rest can go – even both the Ameobis and I hate to admit they are not good enough. I even hoped Ranger would take his chance but he just ain’t bothered. No motivation.

Abeid is ordinary at best. He is not first team standard.

We need to dump at least 50% of the second string,
try to bring on Campbell and those others coming up or get rid of them too.

Williamson made two basic errors and we lost two goals. He really is not good enough even as second string.

Batman and Robin need a major review of all the playing side. A clear out bigger than after a mega curry is called for.

The coaching side need to improve or go. Carver was with us when we had SBR, but it isn’t just Pardew any more.

when cabs and benny were fit and playing we were long ball 442 with cabs too deep and benny stuck out on the wing. we hardly much if any better then. injuries are too easy an excuse.

it doesn’t excuse the total lack of commitment and purpose. even with injuries we still have a way stronger squad than most of the bottom 10 teams.

  • 65 Klam3r // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:41 PM

I don’t think it’s about changing manager every year, but it’s all about finding the right manager for the club. Ashley have made many mistakes, Pardew is one of them, and hopefully he has learnt that a club with this fanbase and in this league needs a proper manager, and that it will cost! I hope he’s learnt, but i don’t think so :/

and the donkey brothers i mean wtf were they doing on the field. Ranger made more impact in his 20 mins than the useful servant of nufc made in the whole match.
This -vety is gng to spread like wildfire and we are in for a doom.
This is what pardew should have done. fielded a stronger team or at least played a more attacking passing game. Instead the hoofball, i mean wtf is wrong this bas***d.
I’m just getting used of this shit being played.
and the poor nufc supporters, travelling 700 miles to watch this shit being played. Watching on tele itself was frustrating cant imagine what they’re feeling now.

Fray @7 Good point I think the most rabid reviews are pre-written ha ha. Obertan poor, Ranger great, Pardew out – my word who do you listen to?

Just showing sholas cards – first one with ref not looking at all, player trips over sholas leg, while shla is looking entirely the other way. 2nd yellow, shola does get a trip in, but the player does a couple of rolls, looks, does a couple more rolls to make sure the ref sees just how terrible it was. Pardew looking on amazed as the card comes out and so he should. Shocking display all round. The ref also allowed that white-supremacist type defender as much shirt pulling as he did last time in the penalty area. You do get to think that there is a sense of glee at seeing us suffer.

I do actually think we could have rallied to get a replay or win if shola had stayed on mind, but as I said before , at this point in time we are better off without a cup run, blessing in disguise.

Some of the people on this board have a worrying lack of football knowledge. Why do you expect to beat a championship team with players who were on loan at championship teams (e.g. tav) and st. mirren (dummett).

Just to clear something up with Sissoko. He is an ok player but by no means an improvement on what we have in central midfield. Just because he was good on championship manager 5 years ago, it doesnt make him a good player. He is now considered 3/4 choice midfielder at toulouse and has falling miles behind Etienne Capoue and Tabanou in his development. I watch Toulouse a lot as one of my best friends was born there and supports them and Sissoko is a shadow of the player that he was 2/3 seasons ago. Go past our strongest 11 and we simply a poor squad, Pardew’s hands are tied, play the like’s of Colo and Cisse today and he gets slaughtered if they pick up knocks.
We simply do not have a squad that is no where near good enough to take on the FA cup, League and Europa league.
Pardew has already said the youngster need to go out on loan to improve but that can’t happen as the sqyad is so small

It was all the speculation in the summer linking the likes of Tiote, cabaye, krul.. To other clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U e.t.c.. Which I also think has made them think they need come back down to earth!! We need sack sum players of and bring in quality.. But pardew has a lot to ask for .. If we could finish 5th from. A propa sweet season to be 2pts of relegation.. That should tell you it’s all bout the tactics!

Pardew interview “We didn’t have enough quality players on the pitch” Yeah Pardew like Brighton is a BPL team, you deluded tool. We lost cause of your decisions and he still blames the players and doesn’t apologies to the fans.

@Transfer Sage Like keeping Pardew is going to take us anywhere. You dont want to face the reality but Pardew was signed cause Mike Ashley saw him as a puppet even he was shocked to see he got us to top 5 last season and knew it was all luck so he didnt spend any money at all to improve the squad. Cause what was more likely to happen if we brang all our targets in? we would be 10th-12th playing crap football and benching De Jong while Shola is playing. Sacking and getting rid of Pardew is the right decision, no player is motivated at all, the team spirit and morale seems -100% and they all seem to have given up.

  • 103 Eddie // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:47 PM

The game is moving on: even in the last 2 years there’s been a marked shift towards technical passing football with less leeway for argie-bargie. The problem is, can we really believe Pardew when he says Papiss will play through the middle? Because to do that we are going to have to radically change our style (if it can even be called a style!).

Why are you all blaming Pardew and the board.

This performance was a typical feeble performance by Newcastle in the FA Cup. Look at the stats since we last won the trophy nearly 60 years ago. The League Cup record is even worse.

The club can change its managers, its owners, its board and even its players but the results are always the same.

  • 109 Klam3r // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:48 PM

Maybe Pardew is so stubborn that he used the 442 until he watched a dabate on tv that slatet his tactics. Then he changed the tactic to what the experts think suited our squad, but he just doesn’t know how to use his players in it ;)

That’s how bad i think he manage us.

  • 110 alexkennedy // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:48 PM

pardew needs to go, tactically inept, started an 11 which included far too many reserve players and not once in the game did we actually look like we wanted to win. why didn’t pardew put out a stronger 11? what is his excuse? we are concentrating on our league position? really poor decision making and one of the worse performances i have seen from newcastle.

The one positive from today is the players picked to represent NUFC have shown beyond doubt, that they are unable to match the expectations or opportunity given to them.

With the exception of Anita and Bigi, the other players should not be surprised to receive their P45′s at the end of the month. They are our “Back-ups” and should be well capable of giving Brighton a good game – they didn’t come close.

I feel for the fans who travelled today and followa ua through thick and thin. i find it painful enough to sit through 90 minutes at sjp every home game so to travel so far and witness that is diabolical and unrewarding.

Even the commentator said it himself you need a squad in the premier league and that wasn’t a good enough performance for a Newcastle second string. If we can expect our second string to do even remotely good against a championship side then they aren’t fit to be a second string. How do we expect three or four of them to step in against the big teams in the league if they are that shambolic against a lower league side. The squad is a joke and it makes the whole Derek llambias purple talk even more of a joke.

We need two first team players ASAP and then as many as four squad players which will no doubt take us two years to get. Mike Ashley is halting our progress and Alan Pardew couldn’t motivate a hungry dog to eat its dinner

  • 137 micbush // Jan 5, 2013 at 3:01 PM

Pardew didn’t say we played well.
He said the players played as best they could given their relative quality. Also adding that some of them weren’t good enough to wear the shirt.

People just see/ hear what they want to.

  • 138 nufcursed // Jan 5, 2013 at 3:01 PM

if we want to get out of this mess and not be relegated we need to sell or dump:

    -pardew (no tactical knowledge)
    -williamson (championship at best)
    -jonas (clumsy and dumb)
    -shola (too slow)
    -gosling (useless)
-tiote (too many mistakes and dirty fouls)
    -simpson (cant dribble or pass)
    -coloccini (way overrated)
    -obertan (will never make it)
    -abeid (will never make it)
-ryan taylor (except freekicks offers nothing else)
-graham carr (for a praised scout he hasn’t found one decent player imo)

    we should keep:
    -krul (always committed)
    -bigi (young but potential)
-santon (more skills than anyone in the squad)
-cissé (give him decent chances and he’ll score)
-sammy (tremendous dribbling ability needs to learn more)
-anita (not convinced yet but he deserves to stay)
    -cabaye
    -ben arfa
-marveaux (also not convinced but has some potential)
    -debuchy (hope he’s any good)
    -perch (decent versatile squad player)
-s.taylor (always committed although no great footballer)

that makes 12players we can keep and that’s clearly not enough for a premier league squad!!

players that i’m not convinced about whether they’ll be any good:

    -vuckic
    -tavernier
    -amalfitano
    -anita
    -marveaux

our 5th place last season was due to 3 reasons:

    cissé
    demba ba
    ben arfa

I precede my thoughts with the fact that this season the PL is more important than the cup.
Having said that there is now another “video nasty” for the TV companies on FA cup days to heap further embarrassment upon us for the next 20 years.
The pundit in the studio with Strachan hit the nail on the head by saying words to the effect that some of the players should really assess whether they are good enough to play for Newcastle.
Who has been assessing these guys over the last couple of years to ensure they are good enough – (surely by professional knowledge of the standards of others) It has to be the coaching staff – not Ashley or Dastardly.
A lot seems to be wrong behind the scenes I have serious doubts about the future progression of the club under the present regime.
When the all the re-enforcements arrive and the crocked return for selection we should be ok this season. I do fear what the future will bring under the current coaching regime.

  • 145 Sir Braveheart // Jan 5, 2013 at 3:32 PM

The players who are starting at the moment shouldnt be. Not based on talent but on experience. The idea is players like Bigi, Abeid, Sammy etc should be bought on for the last 10-15 minutes of a game for experience, play a couple in cup games, ALONGSIDE the established first team. That way they learn to play as a team, get gradually more experienced until they can start. Right now that cant happen because there is no established first team. When was the last time we started with the same first 11 two games in a row? Anyone? We’re throwing these players in at the deep end out of necessity and too many of them are failing to step up.

  • 147 toonfan_Ew // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:32 PM

I do not understand for the life of me why people are telling us to stop blaming Pardew. I’ve given him a chance. I understand we have injuries, that we may have been tired from a couple of Euro games. But there comes a point where the manager’s cluelessness comes into discussion. It would be risky sacking Pardew at the moment but he does not help himself, I cannot see the logic behind some of his decisions. I mean, he played Cisse again on the right wing against Everton?? The players didn’t look up for it today, no fight at all. Brighton, a mid-table championship side, were all over us from the start, I really found it hard to watch…If only we had a supportive enough, respectable owner for the likes of Di Matteo to take over the reigns.
