Elliot, Tavernier, Abeid And Bigirimana All Start

brighton fc

Goalkeeper Rob Elliot gets his first start since September for today’s FA Cup with Brighton and Hove Albion which kicks off in a few minutes time.

And Alan Pardew has included youngsters James Tavernier, Gael Bigirimana, Sammy Ameobi and Mehdi Abeid in the starting line up today, and Adam Campbell and Paul Dummett are on the bench..

It would be great to get the win today, but it’s a fairly inexperienced side the manager had turned out today.

Shola captains the side.

Teams:

Brighton and Hove Albion (4-3-3): Casper Ankergren; David Lopez, Gordon Greer, Adam El-Abd, Wayne Bridge; Dean Hammond, Liam Bridcutt, Gary Dicker; Andrea Orlandi, Craig Mackail-Smith, Ashley Barnes
Substitutes: Tomasz Kuszczak, Lewis Dunk, Andrew Crofts, Will Buckley, Stephen Dobbie, Kazenga LuaLua, Will Hoskins

Newcastle United (4-2-3-1): Rob Elliot; James Tavernier, Mike Williamson, James Perch, Davide Santon; Gael Bigirimana, Vurnon Anita; Sammy Ameobi, Mehdi Abeid, Gabriel Obertan; Shola Ameobi (c)
Substitutes: Tim Krul, Paul Dummett, Shane Ferguson, Sylvain Marveaux, Romain Amalfitano, Adam Campbell, Nile Ranger

Referee: Lee Probert

    repost as eds too quick

Ashley could do the ultimate here. but he wont

Given the position we are in and the new TV rights, he could effectively bring our summer forward, use our fringe players in the cups and give a top classs first team the time to bed in,

when players values increase, sell the fringe players for larger sums, and start scouting for upgrades for the following season (when we are back in Europe )

I have faith in Ashley as a business man but has he seen this prospect yet??

Also a lot of our targets contracts expire in the summer, and it would probably be more economically viable to pay nominal fees now and not have to enter a wages bidding war

    secondly HWTL

What’s going on with Ranger ?
After the last six months most of us have written him off but he’s been turning up for training, saying the right things and here he is on the team sheet for today (Sub). If Pards has managed to bring this guy back from the edge of professional suicide then he’ll go up in my estimation for how he manages players.
Ranger on top form with a mature attitude would be a real plus for us.

Come on lads! Let’s get back on track with a win today.

Placed a cute $20 on us to win which will get me $55 if we are to win! HWTL

Pleased that Elliot is replacing Krul in goals! Krul is still the no 1 but his form has been bad recently.

Elliot played a blinder for us last time out!

Won,t be an easy game, but we need to take revenge for last January! Gus Poyet will have his team ready though.

After the game I’m gonna make an analysis of every player in our squad & then estimate which potential signings we need in the summer (it’s obvious what we need in Jan: CB & FW).

@Sir Braveheart Mehdi Abeid barely gets any starts for us and when he does he panicks because he wants to impress Pardew so much. Blame Pardew for not playing him enough.

lol this proves Alan Pardew is really tactically weak and doesn’t know what he is doing. I don’t even think he watched any of Brighton videos, sorry but its either carver or Pardew because we seem to have no tactics right ever.

Is anyone else watching this annoying performance. Side to side passing and back to the defence passing. Sitting deep. No pressure. Hoof down line to Ameobi for him to lose the ball. Poor passing . No structure. No organisition.
AWFUL!!! And it’s only the 11th minute

All we do is hoof it up every time when Shola plays. I am sick of this, is Pardew doing this on purpose even with the youngsters? Is this guy mental?

15 minutes in and we looked like we’ve played 60 minutes. We look so tired. I know we’ve been playing two games a week for a while now but we look so lethargic.

Need to weather this spell and let our quality count when Brighton have lost momentum.

This is ridiculous, how do you expect players like Abeid to play at their best if Pardew wants the whole team hoofing to benifit Shola Ameobi. First it was Ba now Shola, Pardew promises Shola if he doesnt go ACON he will be a starter up front. Unbelievable, this guy needs to go even when the players are coming in and the team is fully fit he will still play hoof ball and play Shola up front.
