And Alan Pardew has included youngsters James Tavernier, Gael Bigirimana, Sammy Ameobi and Mehdi Abeid in the starting line up today, and Adam Campbell and Paul Dummett are on the bench..
It would be great to get the win today, but it’s a fairly inexperienced side the manager had turned out today.

Given the position we are in and the new TV rights, he could effectively bring our summer forward, use our fringe players in the cups and give a top classs first team the time to bed in,
when players values increase, sell the fringe players for larger sums, and start scouting for upgrades for the following season (when we are back in Europe )
I have faith in Ashley as a business man but has he seen this prospect yet??
Also a lot of our targets contracts expire in the summer, and it would probably be more economically viable to pay nominal fees now and not have to enter a wages bidding war

What’s going on with Ranger ?
After the last six months most of us have written him off but he’s been turning up for training, saying the right things and here he is on the team sheet for today (Sub). If Pards has managed to bring this guy back from the edge of professional suicide then he’ll go up in my estimation for how he manages players.
Ranger on top form with a mature attitude would be a real plus for us.

Just as a talking point, the last 5 minutes (28 -33 minutes) we made 53 passes. Only 3 were off the floor, one was a cross, one a defensive clearance and one which was a long ball pass. Only one of which you can call hoofball. Once in 53 passes? Doesnt sound like hoofball to me.

Due to the standard stupid tactics of hoof-ball you don’t really expect them to play like Barcelona? Get Shola off for A.Campbell or N.Ranger give a good team talk change tactics to short, fast passing and change formation to 4-2-3-1!

There is a complete lack of leadership in our team even when the first eleven are playing. You can get away without shouters and fist wavers when you are doing well but when you are struggling you need strong characters in the team – we dont have them.

Bigi has done well, they’ve just shown him chasing the opposition yet stroller and others do it at jogging pace. My biggest disappointment is Sammy, he always looks like the ball is too far infront of him when he has it. I struggle to see many of these guys making it unless they go out and get game time. Perch is usually consistent but even he looks worse next to Williamson.

Bring Marveaux and Amalfitano on in the second half. Substitute Williamson and the Ameobi’s. Tavernier is too similar to Simpson. He is very poor. Obertan is useless.

Never really been one to slate tactics as I don’t know enough about them, but I remember being bemused with Pards choice of almost a full eleven against Stevenage a month into his reign, one week before a very important game against the mackems, the pitch was shite the 9opposition were thugs and the players clearly looked to be avoiding injury for the following week, then hothead Tiote was brought on to try and salvage a disaster, this time round were playing a respectable Brighton side with a cup run the only thing that could salvage a season and a reserve team is put out, Check is going to the Bacon shortly surely he would have been rushed to add a bit of steel.

I like Pardew and think he is a decent manager.
Most of the failures this season are down to things beyond his control.
However there comes a point where he simply can’t get the side playing well enough – either tactically or motivationally.
So he has to think long and hard as to whether he is the right guy to get us out of this mess.
I’m not calling for him to be sacked, though Williamson was at fault for both goals and he definitely is not fit to play for the Toon.

Have to say, this club is going in only one direction, it’s that all too familiar feeling. Pardew is simply not good enough. Jimley how can you explain even the youngsters showing no heart or desire along with not being able to do the basics i would expect from youngsters in non league football. On top of that regardless of who was on the field the players had no shape and looked long most of the time and so what is pardew playing at. Can anyone explain this please. Somebody just have a go because i am all out of excuses to even comfort myself.

That was a disgraceful performance, you can excuse lack of talent or inexpeience however a total lack of desire and pride is a reflection on the manager, it is heartbraking that Pardew still sees Shola as a solution to anything.

Not good to be out but away from home with a team full of youngsters, bar a couple, a team that won’t have ALL played together before against a championship side that play together week in week out had defeat written all over it. There’s no way id have called us as favourites

I said PL was a priority and no I dont give a stuff about the cups now as long as we stay up. What did everyone expect to happen today? we put a top team out and go all out to win? Nah. Let the full-strength seagulls have their glorious legendary victory over our hotchpotch academy/reserve shambles, and Maybe Mike will see that his pretty wafer thin shocking outfit needs some serious investment. Get that academy up to speed and buy some decent backups for our first team.
Not even slightly worried about today, it a non-event. But I do feel sorry for the travelling contingent. Must say though when things go wrong they go wrong in buckets, ref was poor again in parts and sholas sending off was the weakest set of yellows in a while.

We need 14 new players. Pardew should’ve risked keeping Abeid on. He didn’t deserve to get booked in the first place. Anita was poor today. Marveaux is the only decent player we have. Ranger did a lot better than Shola. Sammi and Obertan are pathetic.
Williamson was at fault for both goals.

Out of that lot outfield I would only keep Dummet, Marv, Bigi, Anita.
Santon is playing poorly and Perch was getting hammered so they’d go to the reserves.
The rest can go – even both the Ameobis and I hate to admit they are not good enough. I even hoped Ranger would take his chance but he just ain’t bothered.
We need a serious review of the so-called Master Plan as it is failing.

Right, first of all, on a positive note, i really liked what i saw of Tav at centreback (really swithced on, close to his man, reading the game) and also Dummy (good decision making, good passing, one lovely cross). Ranger wasn’t too shabby either.
Now for the negatives: Obertan (heartless = unforgivable – i actively dislike the man as of today), Sammy Ameobi – this kid thinks he’s better than he is and will probably not improve because of it. As for the rest, i’ll put their display under the heading “Pardew Out”.

AP is good manager, but questions need to be asked how he motivates the team and organises them, yes we have injures but where’s the hunger from the young lads stepping up?
Do I blame AP, no.. Do I blame MA, yes, should have strengthened in the summer without doubt.
We now have a tougher task in trying to persuade players like Rémy, Sissoko and Sakho if proud is right. Why would they want to come with the run that we are on.
AP will no doubt have to talk to these players and persuade them to come.

We were poo, but no Coloccini, Ben Arfa, Krul, Cisse, Cabaye, Jonas, Both Taylors, Simpson, Gosling, Tiote, Vuckic and new signing Debuchy. 13 players missing Sammy was the only one that turned up, Marveaux, Santon, Krul and Anita are the only good players in the 18, Bigirimana and Campbell have potentional. We need at least a centre back, striker and Midfielder. Which I would like Sissoko, Remy and Alderwield. Then we will climb the table

I doubt if players like Sammy, Tavernier, Abeid and Ranger will ever make it – I suggest to offer them to some Championship clubs on loan to mature. It seems to me that they are happy just to be in wearing the shirt, they are nowhere good enough to carry it in my opinon.
And again… Shola and Williamson. My god, those should be sold asap. Nowhere close to good enough!

idk what to say when i watch us idk if i can just throw the blame on Pards as easy as some do because these reserve players we have and not to mention some in the starting XI are truely piss players (Willo is the foam of the piss)… I mean i watch these games and simply say to myself what the hell do these guys do in training? I mean come on there is only so much a manger can do for ones game the lads have to take it upon themselves to smarten up and play some good footy and have pride to stop this dreaded form we are in.. I wouldnt give Pardew the sack quite yet lets see how we perform till the end of month and with a few key players coming back but am getting a bit worried… Is it me or do i see that we have some good individual players that im sure plenty of teams would love to have but cant quite get on same page..Is it due to lack of chemistry due to injuries or is it Pards fault really?
