Goalkeeper Rob Elliot gets his first start since September for today’s FA Cup with Brighton and Hove Albion which kicks off in a few minutes time.
And Alan Pardew has included youngsters James Tavernier, Gael Bigirimana, Sammy Ameobi and Mehdi Abeid in the starting line up today, and Adam Campbell and Paul Dummett are on the bench..
It would be great to get the win today, but it’s a fairly inexperienced side the manager had turned out today.
Shola captains the side.
Teams:
Brighton and Hove Albion (4-3-3): Casper Ankergren; David Lopez, Gordon Greer, Adam El-Abd, Wayne Bridge; Dean Hammond, Liam Bridcutt, Gary Dicker; Andrea Orlandi, Craig Mackail-Smith, Ashley Barnes
Substitutes: Tomasz Kuszczak, Lewis Dunk, Andrew Crofts, Will Buckley, Stephen Dobbie, Kazenga LuaLua, Will Hoskins
Newcastle United (4-2-3-1): Rob Elliot; James Tavernier, Mike Williamson, James Perch, Davide Santon; Gael Bigirimana, Vurnon Anita; Sammy Ameobi, Mehdi Abeid, Gabriel Obertan; Shola Ameobi (c)
Substitutes: Tim Krul, Paul Dummett, Shane Ferguson, Sylvain Marveaux, Romain Amalfitano, Adam Campbell, Nile Ranger

Comment #45Commentator raises a good point. Players out:
Krul
Raylor Colo Staylor Simpson
HBA Tiote Cabaye Guti
Cisse Vuckic
Almost a full first 11 team. All out. Shows how ravaged our squad is.

Comment #47It looks like we are playing 4-3-3 and not 4-2-3-1 wirth no link up and a targetman in Shola…
…not really the way to play 4-3-3, but that is what I am starting to expect the tactician Pardew is 😉

Comment #52Sami ameobi needs to improve quickly. He’s worse than his brother. Also abeid needs to stop passing it short immediately after he recieves it.

Comment #54@Sir Braveheart @Alan Pas-de-clue We should not need full 11 to play against brighton. If you got group of talented youngsters and play hoofball meaning the youngsters dont get a touch properly to move into space what do you expect?

Comment #55ok has to be said. I just turned off the game. I hope we win this 5:0 but I’m not watching any more of that tripe. Brighton look like the premier league side. I’m off to do something useful and less boring instead

Comment #61Brighton were always going to start well. The key moments in the game for us will be 30-45 minutes and 60-80 minutes. We’ll be vunerable last ten minutes of the game.
We’ve got the quality over Brighton. They’ve got the industry. Gonna be close…

Comment #78God knows why we send a free kick towards Williamson when shola has shown he has the beating of his man on several occasions.
Anita and santon are doing great, if santon can just use his vision a bit more when defending he will be great for us. Bigi again looks great and I have no worries if he has to step in for an injured player in the league.
Sammy needs sending to the championship on loan, he has the potential to be better than Zaha
