We wondered what Newcastle boss Alan Pardew would say after today’s game, after a gutless performance got us another well deserved defeat – this time at Brighton – who for the second year in a row have knocked Newcastle out of the FA Cup, and we couldn’t even score one goal in those two games.
Orlandi scores first Brighton goal
We were missing a stack of our best players today, but still this was an insipid performance from a Newcastle side, who didn’t have any zip at all throughout the game, and if these are the players coming through at the club, the future does not look good.
This is what Alan said after the game today:
“We know we need to get some bigger players who can handle the situation of carrying a Newcastle jersey, whether that’s a signing or getting a player back from injury.”
“We are missing too many of our top players. The season we’re having we just need to get our best players back.” “We need to sustain ourselves in that and make sure we are a Premier League team next season.
That may have been the worst display of the season, which is quickly disintegrating into a battle about how we can survive in the Premier League this season.
And if this is the side we will put out in the Europa League next month, we far better just call in the result and not bother turning up,
This is now a very serious situation at the club, if we didn’t already know that before this game.

I do think Pards is making excuse after excuse regarding transfers mate. I do not blame him 100% for our slump atm though. I believe it is the blame of them at the top for not bringing in more players and relying on kids to do a job.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has hinted he might make further moves in the transfer window to strengthen his injury-hit squad after the Magpies were dumped out of the FA Cup by Brighton. He said: “We know we need to get some bigger players who can handle the situation of carrying a Newcastle jersey, whether that’s a signing or getting a player back from injury.”

Ed,
Can we please have a poll on weather or not to sack pardew, and the readers can comment on who to replace him if they agree,
to start of I say yes, and for me the best available manager would be roberto di matteo

and this all loads up into a massive mess…
No summer signings which I and many many many others knew it would be doom. And bang it did. Now fans are up for 1 or 2 more after Debauchery. Problem is we are in dire straits we need 3 more signigns at least and that is pushing it.
I said couple of posts earlier to me Colo needs to be benched asap. To get a damn wake up call he did not sign for him to sit and relax and that is what he is doing ..a Gutti.
Willo should be shaken immediately and he wont thats the sad part. We need urget CB replacements right this minute and I mean replacements that ring the likes of Kompany, Vidic Hummels, Subotic as close to that class as possible. We need somebody who knows how to defend and lead the back 4.
Nothing less will suffice I hate to say it. I would even risk not having Remy but a young faster cheaper CF instead and bolster for the first time in a very long time our god damn defence.
Even without our main creators HBA and Cabaye we scored . To me Marveux has been a revelation and prat head Pardwho played him oowww soo late. I would possibly stick him on the LW so far.
I dont know I said earlier I never liked but never really disliked Patdew but with his lack of effing balls and pathetic tactics day in and out and selling the club short on formation to lick BAs balls is pathetic. Cisse got smothered and he is wearing the no 9.
This is the time our managers shortfall is shining as a diamond. People would say injuries take a look Moyes what he has been doing with Everton the last few years. One could not say we have less talent surely.
Pardew out Pardew out but it wont help ….its Ashley out, Pardew would follow like a wounded dog believe me.
15 Spuggy // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:45 PM
I didn’t think he made any excuses he says we need better players – anyone disagree with that?

21 nick_9 // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:47 PM
NufcCusa – agreed but is that because they have been given the chance go play and prove their worth of are they just naturally better players from a young age? Like bigirimana seems more ready at 18/19 than others a that age?
Tads – well done for making the effort, feel for you and others who travelled and witnessed that. We’re one of the loyalist because we ensure so much pain and misfortune over the years, not because we once sang the loudest. I have never seen SJP so subdued and its the Ashley reign that has brought this on, the passion is being kicked out of us so we feel nothing but anger or sadness.
Would cisse have made much difference today? He isn’t a physical striker and thy were holding on to each attacker we had. Unless he scored a wonder goal I feel he would have been kicked out the game or had poor service all day.
Pardew needs to find his nuts and stand up to the board, anyone can see we need a cb and a st minimum
22 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:47 PM
Sorry for the repost lads but eds on a mission again!
Well just got back from the game and have to say
What an absolute shower of sh1t
Did the lads remember they had a game today?
Because only 2 or 3 of them looked like they could be bothered today an absolutly disgraceful gutless display that they should be fcuking ashamed of from the manager/coaches down to the players
Elliot
Decent game made some good stops but didnt have a chance with defence he had infront of him
Tavernier
Shouldn’t of been on the pitch no tactical awarness no positional sense constantly got done for pace by wayne bridge ffs, took forever to get back when our play broke down and has no first touch
Willo
Was shocking today nothing more to say really need a CB ASAP!
Perchinio
Done well cleared a looping header of the line rarely paniced took a very hard challenge and struggled after that
Santon
Didnt turn up today gave the ball away cheaply and didnt cover the flank with any sort of conviction
Abied
Awful truly awful no first touch and bottled every 50/50
Bigi
Paniced on the ball alot today and seemed to run himself into trouble but did ok
Anita
Felt gutted for this lad, ran his ars3 off today won everything broke play made challenges looked to make things happen but with the rest of the squad as static as subuteo figures it was a losing battle for the lad
Obertan
Made so many runs up the line only for tav to aimlessly punt the ball to nowhere
A few good runs got stuck in first half faded in the second a bit but the crowd were clearly p1ssed at him being taken off instead of sammy
Sammy
Shocking today unbelivably lazy cant pass cant run with the ball looked to scared to shoot got knocked off the ball with no fight just kept falling over and looking for free kicks and had no first touch at all
Shola
Red card was harsh but tbh didnt even notice he was off the pitch
He wasn’t up for it today at all applied no presure won no ariel battles and generally couldnt be ars3d to run
Ranger
Fair play to him came on and looked bright looked like he had a point to prove as he left the pitch at full time in a barny with sammy
Marv
Great player should of come 15 mins earlier in fact no should of started infront of abied
Dummett
The ONLY positive from this game he worked his socks off won nearly everything had great pace put in some tasty challenges busted a nut to get forward and support but a couple of cracking fizzing crosses in and alaways got back quickly when we didnt have the ball and should be above fergie in regards to the LB position
He had a great game and should of started instead of tav
Pardew
No ifs or buts today im affraid AP you got it wrong
Subs at the wrong time made the wrong man captain and put the wrong starting 11 out
All in all a gutting day and possibly the most subdued away stand ive ever been in, the travelling fans but a great effort in today but its hard to cheer for the sh1te that was served up today
Oh and that ref was a reet pr1ck
23 Ketsbaia9 // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:49 PM
Abeid should’ve always been starting ahead of Bigi. You can’t judge a player by only 45 minutes. He’s a good footballer and is great mates with Ben Arfa. He’ll come good.
Marveaux stood out again.

25 nufc1984 // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:50 PM
Come off it. Pardew is the problem. His lack of passing football had lost the dressing room even when the do called stars were in the team. We were lucky to beat Tottenham, draw at Everton even when the so called big players were in the team. Only good performances I’ve seen we’re against mackems and against man utd. The rest have been abject headless chicken performances resided over by a manager who doesn’t know his arse from his elbow. No good new buys in January will change that!!! Sack him already

35 Toonacious T // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:53 PM
The fact he hasn’t even got the balls to just come out and say we need three more quality signings is pathetic. He has to qualify an already conservative statement with ‘or whether thats getting players back from injury’. This is to give MA an excuse for more penny pinching, Saylor and Cabaye back will no doubt be
like new signings. We will win nothing with MA and his apologist Pardew running our club and team. Don’t know how many more BS excuses I can listen to from this clown.
36 Toon1978 // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:53 PM

Very fair summary. egarding transfers, the supporters won’t stand for anymore excuses. There are no more excuses. Pards saying possible 1 or 2 players is concerning to sy the least. And saying January is very difficult to get players in is not what we want to hear. Excuse after excuse. NO PARDS no more excuses. Tell the board how it is. Stop licking their backsides. After all it is Mr Pardew who is on the front line getting all the abuse while the board hide behind the scenes. Get some balls and stick up for yourself Pards mannnnn.

Its a strange feeling being in and among the toon faithful on such quiet voice
Before the game the fans were lively got to our seats still lively team sheet went up and took the atmosphere off a bit but they fans were good until 65/70 mins when anger took over from such a heartless display, they still stayed to the whistle clapped the players who could be ars3d to come over, bigi and elliot looked devestated but then all left in silence its a sad feeling tbh
And no i dont think cisse would of made any difference at all given the service and man handling which i still cant believe the ref didnt have a word with there players about
Eddie
Aye maybe a touch harsh didnt see him much at CB because he was doon the other end of the pitch but was sat right behind him in the first half and honestly he was shocking at FB
40 Constanstine // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:55 PM
We just got thrashed by a lower league team, out of Capital One Cup, 2 pt from drop zone and Pardew is still saying the some old excuse since the start of the season. This is pathetic, our players on paper are far better than Brightion. Even so, if you lose out on the players then you have to come out with a better tactic. 11 man defending who cares just get the result. So far Pardew has proven his mouth does a better job than his football knowledge.
41 IITianToon // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:56 PM
And the thing which really rankles my neurons is that some of the solutions are blatantly simple! I mean cant he see how slow Shola is and how lazy Sammy is.. both the brothers just keep the ball at their feet till like 3 players crowd them out.. or they try to dit by themselves from 30 yards..
EVEN at halftime Pards could have made amends:
Perch for Dummet was enforced fair enough..
Campbell for Shola!!!
Marvaux for Sammy..
I mean can anyone please explain the rationale behind his decisions today?? I mean its baffling!
42 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:57 PM
Maybe the defense was bad (wouldn’t be nothing new really), but you cannot play 4-3-3 with a Targetman like Shola and have no link up (it’s pointless).
…Abeid was playing too defensively (I have a feeling he was told too otherwise Pardew would have corrected him)
For me these are the silly mistakes we keep making and they’ll get us no way. The rot needs to be fixed from within – it won’t help just buying a few new players…
Second half was much better, but you don’t win if you cannot score goal – plus Shola is really just letting everyone down with that display and behavior.
Is it just me or has his attitude and his confrontation taken a turn too the bad over the last season or two (ever since he beefed up) It might sound silly, but he acts like some one on steroids (he’s irritable and aggressive)
43 mattyNUFC // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:57 PM

45 JackButler // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:57 PM
Do any of you really think things would be any better with a different manager???
Who ever is in charge will NOT be backed by the owner.
Get past our strongest starting 11 and we have a very, very poor squad made up of inexperienced youngsters and cheap signings that don’t have the right to wear our shirt.
If Pardew had been backed in the transfer market the likes of Williamson, Simpson, Perch and quite a few others would not be at the club.
THE BLAMES IS WITH THE MAN WHO HAS GIVEN PARDEW AND EIGHT YEAR CONTRACT AND FAILED AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO BACK HIM
46 West Lancs Geordie // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:58 PM
Get Shola & Sami traded whilst the window is still open. Believe Daisy & Dopey two donkeys off Blackpool Beach are available snap em up now.
We can’t afford to risk regulars in Fa Cup or League Cup so nothing for us there. Never going to do anything in Prem perhaps Ashley thinks the only thing we might win is the Championship. Deluded! never in a million years with that lot & that’s all we’ll have left when we go down. Notts Forest played 82 games in season they won European Cup with a squad of 17. We’ve used 30+ players already this season.
47 nick_9 // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:58 PM
The cup was a burden anyway but it’s the manner we lost in. People are quick to forget we had five first team regulars in there and a pretty good keeper in Elliot. It’s the manner we have played all season. We may have been convincing in the last six games but we are far from looking like a good side and have probably just hit our peak with injuries but luckily some are short term.
Anything other than a minimum of three signings and I’m done with Pardew. He doesn’t have the ability to motivate and is very questionable at times. If he doesn’t have the ability to get his mates to spend then e brings nothing to the table. I would rather offer a likeable or proven manager the chance to be consistent at the toon but this guy with each passion game/interview is looking more like one of them
48 Toon1978 // Jan 5, 2013 at 5:58 PM
Debuchy is a great start to this window. We still need a CB, good strong midfielder and a striker or 2. Ranger must be released. He will never amount to an EPL player. Sammy, Tavs, Dummett, Abeid all need to be sent out or back out on loan.

TADS thanks for the best review I’ve seen of today’s disaster – not a word I usually use about a Toon loss.
KETS
Abied should be sold on – he is not going to make the grade and certainly not fit to clean Cabaye’s boots.
Dummet was solid during his spell.
Your football knowledge is restricted to what you read on Panini cards
CATCHY
You promised us all you would not come back on this blog until Pardew was sacked.
So that makes you a lying cheating f-wit as well as a troll. You’re only here to gloat.
Doesn’t matter what manager we have until the owner restructures the playing side and makes sure we have enough cover to do a job.
Sell 10 reserves for £1m each and buy two half decent defenders.
Do we think Pardew really wants to play Williamson in a starting 11 ? All his press statements are damage limitation as he has his hands tied behind his back.
I also agree we need another coach in, if only a confidence coach.
If the guys on the coaching team (including Beardo) are so good how come our stats (goals from corners blah blah blah) are so total rubbish. Maybe Pardew should stay and the others go.
But he seriously does need to up his own game too. Especially with subs. He’s made some real bad calls the last 5-6 matches/
The rot with the Toon starts at the top. Batman and Robin need to take responsibility and totally restructure their failed 5 yr plan.
If Batman does not deal with our major weaknesses this window then the judgement will be with him.
And no manager could take the squeeze he’s put on our playing side. Not even SAF. (he’d be playing 4-4-2 ffs)
He’s had 5 years but keeps making big mistakes.
He failed this summer big time. We needed at least two defenders then.
It might be hard to think it but Pardew might be so desperate he deliberately took a losing side to Brighton to get some leverage for new signings.
We need more playmakers than Yo, for starters.

53 Graeme // Jan 5, 2013 at 6:03 PM
As long as we bring in TWO, proper, CB’s during this window, we will avoid relegation; BUT the signings must be capable of walking straight into the team tomorrow.
Collo looks a shadow of himself – he is trying to do the work of 3, being partnered by the absent Williamson and covering Santon. TWO new CB’s allows Collo a break and gives them the chance to start really bossing the back four – something that is sadly lacking. If we sort the back 4, we plug the leaks, we stop conceding stupid goals.
Every half decent team is built on a creditable back four but we have a barely plausible back 2.5. Pardew is supposedly the defensive coach – that needs to change immediately, recruit somebody who can really do the job and leave Pardew to manage the whole team, not parts of it.
Todays game was a game Pardew was very happy to loose, one lot of games he doesn’t have to worry about allowing 100% effort in maintaining our league status – which is of paramount importance and the only objective to be pursued. Mon the toooon

Padrew still had a good squad to work with even though there was no investment. Alright, maybe if we got a couple more good players then we could be challenging for top 6 but with the squad he has its still good enough for top 10. It’s his tactics that have messed us up this season. He’s had one lucky season in his all career and he thought he was invincible but this season has just shown he’s a Shyte manager. Also, sa Ameobi isn’t even championsh quality, get rid or he’s just going to end up like his brother getting a nice weekly wage sitting on the bench.

Substitutes: Tim Krul, Paul Dummett, Shane Ferguson, Sylvain Marveaux, Romain Amalfitano, Adam Campbell, Nile Ranger
Thats our squad today, there are only FOUR of those players that should be anywhere near our first team squad.
Santon, Krul, Anita and Marveuax, thats 14 players that are either simply not good enough or are far to inexperienced to play 1st team football.
Past our best starting 11 we have a Championship squad it’s that simple

When I say I’m done with Pards I don’t mean I will be negative at the game calling for his head but will have made my mind up on his abilities.
Jb – I think any manager worth their salt would be at loggerheads with the owner and make it known he wants signings. Pardew has only recently admitted they didn’t do enough in the window and now he seems indecisive on exactly how many players we want or are looking at. He needs to find some balls with the owners and passion on the touchline. You can knock him for arguing with O’Neil and nudging a linesman but when he does stuff like that I feel like he is one of us. Most other times I feel like he is a PR man for Ashley. I just question why it took so long to phase out those free kicks, his inclusion of certain player and exclusion of others and his motives. He seems to protect Ashley but not its getting tougher for him he is asking more of the owner, I hope he keeps on asking.
TADS- every home game thousands stay to clap off the few players that are brave enough to stay on the pitch and engage with the fans.

Our squad depth is severly lacking quality and its time to face up to the fact a few of our players simply aren’t good enough especially from our youth, i normally get called fickle for that but can you still count players as youth at 21? They should be showing more by now for me
Pardew im in a hard position on
I dont think the board have backed him properly and i do understand his excuses’s like todays of the shirt being to big for certain players, but i do wish he’d stop talking about it and go and boot ashleys door in and demand some fcuking signings!!!
Spread
The mood was strange tbh and didnt hear anyone calling for pardews head in all honesty i think there was a feeling today that he put a mix of youth and seniors out that for a majority looked like they couldnt be ars3d
He tried to change it at half time and tbf ranger looked uo for it and worked hard although there was some head scratching going on when gabby came off instead of sammy

Well said Graeme (52) but MA will not spend cash until he sells again & we won’t get sufficient cash from sale of Willo the Weak, Gosling, Abeid, Amalfiliano, Ranger, Shola or Obertan. WE have never had a solid defence even in the Keegan era : Kilcline, Peacock, Marcelino, Helder, Boumsong just to name a few.

78 breno95 // Jan 5, 2013 at 6:16 PM
My analysis of the performance given today in one word – Disgraceful!
Supporters can accept a loss if they have witnessed drive, effort and a competitive display however, all of this was very much lacking.
It is very clear we need a leader on the pitch and in the dugout. Not one player has it in them to dish out a rollicking to team mates who need one during a game. Someone needs to grow a pair in the squad and address this ASAP.
As for the team today my views are as follows:-
Elliott – decent keeper has a future.
Tavernier – needs more experience.
Perch – squad player but not good enough.
Williamson – gives his all but no future.
Santon – talented, needs a rest to regain focus. Has a future at NUFC.
Obertan – no future at all. Useless.
Abeid – must be wondering what he has to do. I would give him a future.
Bigi – talented and has future with NUFC.
Anita – superb player.
Sammy – no future at NUFC. Useless.
Shola – useless is too good a word. Captain of side but so lacks any of the attributes to lead or inspire. No future and should never get anywhere near a match day squad again.
Ranger – no future
Dummett – potential hence has a future.
If I have missed any out it was because they were so poor and failed to make any impression at all.
I could have rounded up 16 mates who would have shown more fight and nous than the lot who pretended to represent NUFC.
I worry that with displays of this kind will deter any new quality from joining us under the leadership of AP who, with every game that passes, continues to show that him and his staff (carver & Stone ffs) have no knowledge or ability to lead. I fear we are stuffed unless some if the senior players take a stand and take matters into their own hands to shape the clubs result for the rest of the season.
I am hopeful that the rumoured signings are gonna happen and will be alot more confident come mid January we can field:-
Krul
Debuchy
Sakho
Colo
Santon
Sissoko
Anita
HBA
Cabaye
Remy
Cisse
Subs:-
Elliott
Saylor
Simpson
Marveaux
Jonas
Tiote

He has one of the most passionate support bases in football screaming for new signings, to see the owner to show real intent and take us forward and invest in areas any fool can see we need to be stronger, and he has a owner who is happy with mid table and have a mediocre squad, mediocre manager who does as he’s told.

We HAVE got injuries to key players, we HAVE got a shortage of quality in depth and players like Tav, Abheid, Sammy and Ranger are NOT good enough for the first team.
You lot ranting and raving on about Pardews excuses haven’t got a fkn clue about management. The guy has lost a shedload of games and he’ll be hurting just as much as the rest of us. 84 Mister Tuff // Jan 5, 2013 at 6:19 PM
Since the summer I’ve always thought that we would get Debuchy plus two more, with the potential of an extra surprise/quality player costing more money -that Ashley agreed to exceed the budget. (I’ve posted this as well)
Rumours suggest a minimum of 4 quality arrivals I would not be surprised now that the minimum is increased. Ashley can authorise it at a whim.

Krul, colo, santon, cabaye, Anita, cisse, Arfa, marveaux, Debuchy, tiote, Taylor,
Those are the only senior players worth their salt at the club, the rest are all average players or inconsistent. Funnily enough those exact players make an eleven but the likes of Simpson, Williamson, perch, raylor, gosling, guti, shola, obertan, Sammy, ranger, Xisco are all fringe players and very average.
I would perhaps consider keeping Simmo, perch, raylor and obertan but any others can go. Far too many passengers in the squad taking up valuable spaces

Wenger has never had one. Nor Ferguson. Nor Mourinho. No manager in the history of the game has had one. I am talking about an 8 year contract. The very best might get a 3 or 5 year contract. So why does a manager who has been repeatedly sacked at previous clubs (that means he is not very good) get one?
Answers on a postcard please.
But it does sum up the kamikaze way the club is run. The only certainty is that there is little money for players and the BIG MAN takes in more than he spends.
It really is a curse supporting the club under this owner.

Personally I’m not a fan of Pardew – I don’t like his attitude as a person, and his style of football isn’t one I’m a fan of – but I agree with you there. The only way he could avoid criticism one way or another would be to just refuse to do interviews!
93 geordiegav1987 // Jan 5, 2013 at 6:23 PM
The fact that nearly all our fringe players arent even trying to state there claim for first team football shows me that something is seriously wrong behind the curtains.
I know that they will be thinking they dont need to prove anything because theres so many injurys at the moment – that pretty much everyone is getting a chance, but to me it looked today that no one wanted to be playing except marveaux.
Infact its looked like no one has wanted to be playing for us since pardew got that long contract which seems to be about the same time we started to play shit.
I hate to say it but I wonder who else is ready to jump ship. Thats probably the only way we will see any new players through the door this window.
What worries me is when a team loses all confidence it’s up to the fans to keep faith in there team to try and bring some of that confidence back, but it seems to me that between 50 to 90% of the fans are starting to get seriously fed up with the abismle displays along with the lame excuses from pardew. I’m fed up and I have been one of the most confident fans since I was a kid.
Ashley doesnt like spending money but loves makeing it, well he better watch out because I can see saint james’ park being only half full at best if the team carries on the slippery slope we’ve found ourselves on.
I hope I’m wrong because we need to keep showing up and supporting our team no matter how crap we are playing and how painfull it is to watch.
Truely depressing times:(

So says Pardew, we need bigger players, whether that’s a signing or getting a player back from injury
From that I read that as we’ve bought Debuchy, Simpson’s still with us and Saylor’s on his way back from injury (’til the next time), we can forget about any more defensive signings.
And, as Shola’s being suspended and Cisse can play as lone striker, then a striker’s not gonna appear or if at all, for a few weeks.
Midfield reinforcements? Forget it as long as Cabaye and HBA are on the mend.
So, to summarise Llambias’ thinking as above, forget any reinforcements and look forward to more defeats, relegation and a mass exodus followed by a massive hit on the club’s finances and…… well, who knows.
Now, who’s responsible for signing of spend and should have carried the can after the lack of summer activity? It certainly aint Pardew! But, he looked absolutely pi$$ed off again, as did the players who just didn’t turn up.
Time for big big changes at a senior level!

105 Graeme // Jan 5, 2013 at 6:29 PM
West Lancs / Two Steps – they have to be blind not to see the frailties we have at the moment. Simpson is distracted, wants another club, just sell him and have done with it. Williamson should be sold, he has the turning circle of a cruise liner and acceleration to match.
Collo, Debuchey, Santon are the foundations.
If we bring in two top Quality CB’s to play now, who can actually command and control the back 4 we would make dramatic improvement in 2 weeks. Drop Collo, give the man a break; let the 2 new guys sort out the back four so it functions as a unit, everyone knows their role. Collo id good enough to fit in any system.
Sell Simpson, Williamson, Saylor to recover some of the outlay. I believe we would become a far better team than we are now.
It would certainly take us a long way towards avoiding relegation issues!!!
106 Eddie // Jan 5, 2013 at 6:29 PM
Beattie – a point well worth making, again and again. The start of our season, with our “best 11″ was feeble to say the least – i know it was disrupted with injuries, suspensions, etc but that is exactly when a manager earns his bread.

“ despise how Pardew expects the players to do his job for him”
Care to elaborate? Because for all we know Pardew is coming up with good tactics and the players arent responding. If Man Utd/City or Chelsea went into a game and the managers gave them no tactical input would they play as poorly as we did today? Unlikely. Its down to the players on the pitch to perform.
You can talk about Pardew motivating his players but if I was a Newcastle player the fact Im being paid thousands a week to play, in front of a sell out away crowd who travelled a 700 mile round trip to support me and the chance to prove my ability would be enough motivation. The players werent good enough today. Pure and simple.

The third 11 guys have promise but you can only bring through 2-3 players a season into your starting 11 without compromising results and we have had to do much more than that.
The second 11 guys on my list really are always going to be squad players imo
Simmo and Willo have only been one of the problems of not signing 2 defenders last summer. Our good players being off form hasn’t helped and neither have some of the odd subs and tactics, but again I think Pards has been experimenting for damage limitation and has got it wrong a good few times

We need to make sure out signings in this window are to build the squad, and not replace those leaving! Selling Simpson now for £1m wouldn’t be worthwhile. Sir B – this is precisely where we disagree, you and i.
for me, in order for a “manager of a team” even to have validity as a concept, makes it necessary that he/she actually does something! players are players – they might give a toss or not, they’re jobbers and it doesn’t matter how much they’re paid, they’re still just jobbers. the crucial figure – the conductor of the orchestra – is the manager.
i’ve seen worse players than the ones we had out today put in better shifts and do you know why? because someone was leading, coaching, organising them!

The thing that really sickens me is that we have one of the best scouts in the game with Graham Carr, but his ability to spot a quality player is hardly ever used.
An investment of 30-40 million would give us 6/7 top class players who would take us to that next level, instead we’re lucky to get Ashley to part with 5 million a season, no wonder we are going backwards
123 Sir Braveheart // Jan 5, 2013 at 6:39 PM
We had targets in the summer, Ashley played hardball over the price and gambled we could get them in Jan/next summer cheaper. Look at Debuchy, we got him at our price eventually. Ashley gambled we’d be ok for the first half of the season. We lost Staylor and Raylor and our defence fell apart. The gamble failed.
The good news is say we’re bidding for a player, Remy for example, and we bid 8m and the other club say we want 9m Ashley is more likely to stump up that little extra to secure him. He’s learned a painful lesson so far this season.

Spot on, Sir B, every game I tell these players to get stuck in and tackle and keep the ball and score some goals and win the bloody game – and then they reward me by losing!
To add insult to injury some of the fans blame me, can you believe that? It’s as if I said “go out lose the game” to them. Mind you, I keep careful notes of everything in my little notebook, along with lottery numbers and laundry ticket, just in case I have to go a tribunal at some point…

We haven’t played well all season. Injuries are relatively recent.
Cabs will come back and be too deep in a 442
Benny will come back and be stuck out a wing
Jonas will come back to be a non-existent LW
Colo our captain and ba our top scorer said the players were not happy with the style they were being asked to play. Some people are still in denial when that alone should have alarm bells ringing.

Pardew trains the lads for as long as he wants, when he wants. He chooses what to work on and who is in the eleven, he choses to drop them or retain them depending on how they respond in the game. He is meant to work on our errors, if a player isn’t cutting if drop him. He said himself when he got the job that he will have to knock on Ashley’s door asking for transfer. Instead he made the decision that he was happy last summer. He then persists with a rubbish formation, silly set pieces, under performing players, ridiculous subs and cannot motivate the lads.
Pardew certain isn’t void of any criticism but not are the players and those two clowns upstairs who are so arrogant they think they know better than at least 52000 fans who actually all have a common perception on who isn’t cutting it, who is and positions that need strengthening.

But we’ve also seen players put in horrendous shifts for great managers. Sir Bobby and Bramble/Boumsong for example. My point is Pardew could be telling them the right things and the players arent doing them. Pardew talked before the game about playing with energy, but look how lethargic we were. The players have to take some accountability for that, as well as Pardew. Its not all on the managers shoulders. That was my point.

Yet again another dissapointing day for me.
I said the performance was as important as the victory.
The performance was terrible and we have played well 3 times all season. Flashes of brilliance overshadowed by 9our need for rescilliance.
Pardew again got it tactically wrong today for me with his subsitutions. Instead of bringing on Vuckic or Abied to relieve the pressure he brought Santon on for HBA and invited it.
We shut up shop at 1-0 and I cannot take it anymore.
If this football doesn’t change next year it will be a dog fight for sure.
As for this year top 8 would be amazing but it will be an opportunity lost, a season bottled and chance missed.

Evening all don’t often post buy always enjoy reading, just wanted to say that although I’m no lover of pardew people who try to say look at eveton and what moyes has done. Well take a close look it took moyes a good 4 years to stabilise eveton nd they have always been (up until this season) been poor starters nd the first time they finished in el the finished just above relegation. All I’m getting at is does pardew deserve time ie this season and maybe the begging of next? In my eyes I’d say yea but the last couple of games have been as bad as the season we went down nd I cans deal with another year in the championship so I’d say give the next 3 games – all teams around us then decide!

Graeme you might not think it but I agree with you. Only Ashley will only spend some of the money he raises. Ba made us £7M but Debuchy only cost £4/5 – so he pockets the rest. Who in their right mind is going to pay big bucks for the wastrels? He could sell Tiote for me but wouldn’t get anywhere near what we would have at end of last season (£16M then) perhaps £4 now? We’ve always had too many injuries – is it to do with the training? Fear is Colo is next to go & what will he do bring in Lescott on loan? Buy some unproven like Mariappa probably. Yes he must speculate to accumulate but he won’t. He knows if we go down he can sell : Colo, Cabaye, Krul, Anita, Debuchy & the likes & walk away.

To right mate, compared to those days, this is almost paradise. This current team is only a few players short of being capable of challenging at the top.
Not strengthening last summer was a disastrous decision by the Illustrious Owner, but he has the opportunity in this window to make amends. He could buy now and end up with a squad that will have had a tough half season together; will go through pre-season together, which should then enable us to seriously fight for a spot in Europe and the Domestic cups next season.
Its not impossible at all.

Sir braveheart that’s probably right I think they know who they want and have a set value for him if the club accept our bid then it moves on to wages. If not we wait he knows he will eventually either get him or he will go somewhere else but until the player turns us down there is no 2nd option. Its all a waiting game for him I suppose that’s why it takes so long to build a squad to get there and he hopes pardew will grow more experienced and better with the squad
163 sirtoongospel // Jan 5, 2013 at 6:52 PM
Pards wasn’t making excuses I don’t think. He basically said that a load of them aren’t good enough to play for the club. He has said it a few times now.
The strength of the SQUAD is not good enough and the onus is on the owner.
Pards is struggling because the players aren’t good enough. If however we have a run where our best are available but we continue to lose then fair enough. He has made mistakes but I can’t see anyone winning that game with the team we put out. Next week we will be a very different proposition.

Look at this blog. According to the few dozen people on here our worst plater today was Williamson or Sammy. Or Abeid, although he could also have been our best player. Dummet put in a good shift or was abysmal, we’re not sure. Tav was rubbish or solid at CB, Anita is a good prospect or not good enough because he’s too small. We should be playing 433, or maybe 451. Or is it 4231?
The fans really dont have a clue when you look at it. We can all agree on some things, we need a CB and a replacement for Ba, but the fans opinion is so divided I cant agree with that part of your comment.

Beattie excellent post from last year, shows not all fans were fooled by the league table but still pleased with the results. This year Ba has stil been scoring the goals but the Defense let us down. It’s amazing how many people ignore performances when we win because its negative.
JB it is an injustice that we have graham Carr and are only a few players off having an excellent eleven and a bit of depth but don’t use him. If we had signed Debuchy in the last window and a cb then we wouldn’t have needed to play Anita, perch and ferguson at fullback. All have had a spell their this season. I think we are a winger, cb and two strikers off having a good side with depth. We’re wasting graham Carr and have lost ground.

In defence of Mike Ashley I think he did a wonderful job steadying the financial ship. Putting a realistic cap on wages and preventing another Leeds Utd. However since he has spent little of the Carroll money (Cisse £10M) & in addition he has had funds for Best , Guthrie & Ba & bought Anita & Debuchy. There must be plenty in the pot given 50000+ at home matches & 5000 dedicated away fans. Hope he proves me wrong but I’m not holding my breath
178 nick_9 // Jan 5, 2013 at 7:02 PM
Brave heart I mean in the sense that we all recognised we needed a more rounded fullback, that Williamson was struggling for composure, that Kruls distribution needs working on, that cisse needs the ball at his feet in a central position. Not who played well or bad, we have some outlandish characters like kets who think abeid did well.

What really gets me is the fact that we are not talking about making 20/30 million pound signings. Beattie, during our winning run towards the end of last season I got slated on here for saying we had been outplayed for long periods and had won because of unbelievable goals from Cisse. I’ve long said that the biggest problem in our squad is the lack of a consistently creative CM who bring the other midfielders and forwards into play. Marveaux in the last few games has been far more effective than Cabaye in doing that. Cabaye is a good player but he is vastly overated on his Toon performances and Tiote has been a shadow of the player this season that he was last.
Midfield, not defence, has long been our biggest problem imo.

JB – Around 15 million in the summer on Debuchy, Anita and a cb would have seen us in a stronger position that we are in now. I’m tired of fans thinking we’ve had 5/6 players out every league game when we haven’t.
Realistically if Simmo leaves we need a backup fullback. Preferably left sided because santon can play on the right. We need another cb so we have collo, new cb, Taylor with Willo, perch or tav fourth choice. I feel we are ok in central midfield but need another winger. Now Ba has left we need two strikers.
That’s: cb, Lw, st, st and possible a fb if Simmo leaves. That’s only three extra players considering Ba has gone and Simmo might. Judging by the average we spend on players it’s about 5m each.

We need a double decker bus or two in front of our goal. It’s so blatent that we need defenders it’s unreal. Pardew and Ashley seem to be ignoring the obvious. Having said that, Charnley and co are supposed to be over France to tie up some deals.

We are going to have serious problems holding on to HBA if MA doesn’t show some ambition in this window. So far it is our top goalscorer out (who scored twice today for Chelski) and a FB in. As things stand now, that is a net loss to the overall strength of our squad. MA doesn’t seriously invest then any ambitious and hungry players will leave in the summer, whether we avoid relegation or not. Sadly we did not have the energy and you could see we were a bit leggy towards the end but I am confident that our long term injured players will make an immediate impact for the next game. There match sharpness will be up there with the best. To be honest I am running out of excuses but I think if we get a few players over the line…..one or two then I think I will be alright. No doubt I will not change my tactics and continue to hoof the ball, I’m clueless what can I say. To be honest what was he supposed to say “We were a load of shite”. For me Obertan summed it up. He cost us the first goal has no movement and fumbles like a school girl after running with the ball. He has had a couple of ok games but if hes gets two crosses in thats a good game. It amazes me that no body can deliver a ball into the box. For 30 grand a week I’d put then on the penaly spot with me knobend. We need to stay behind Pards even if he is making mistakes wish he would bring young Cambell on though.

If we were investing in £4-6m players with even 3-4 players in the £8-12m category then we’d be fine.
I do think we need two in the back line at about £10m quality and dunno if Colo is still worth £10m, probly is as he was allstar EPL team last term. So we need another £10m CB and a couple of £4-6m defenders. Debuchy is one and we need another equally good

1 striker
2 centre backs (good quality EPL standard)
Willo not up to task, Simmo either and the two have them mgd to pull the shape out of our defense. No coincidence that most attacks come from the right and today was no different. At 6ft 4 Willo the Weak should win everything in the air & rarely be pushed off the ball. A level head will get you a slagging and an objective view will have your head on a pike in this place lol. Dont mention a player without a qualifier like ‘crap’ or ‘championship quality’ or you may as well be his dad and/or agent. I shouldnt be surprised at the sheer volume of rabid nuggets that post on here on bad days but hoping NUFC players get injured and one nice racist inference last artice really sum u the weather here.
I do take notice of those who say Pardew isnt the man, Ashley should pay for players, tactics etc and support their arguments but it gets mentally taxing to wade through all the shouting and pick out those who actually talk sense about footballing matters in a way that suggests they actually watch and understand whats going on.
Injuries- just because Pardew keeps excusing it doesnt stop it from being true. While you may pour scorn on it, the fact is that returning players like Cabaye, HBA, Saylor and signings like Debuchy (and whoever else may turn up) is very likely to have a drastically improving effect on the cohesion of the team we field. Tactics – OK Pardew’s choices may be in hindsight flawed, but tactics are easily overshadowed by a lack of competent personnel in key areas to carry them out. Hoofball- you cannot convince me that a pro footballer can be robotically programmed to keep doing the same stupid thing even though he knows it has hardly ever worked, they have inherent skill, and free will. Same goes for passing and positioning, and definitely effort. If the players at the managers disposal are unable to do that what can he do? Unfamiliarity – 11 great players do not a great team make, and certainly not a great team when you take half of your great players out and stick a couple of reserves an one or two academy players in there. With the best will in the world, if you change the personnel every other week positional familiarity goes out of the window, I give you….’hoofball’!
Summer Transfer window – the risk that backfired. We can treat the Debuchy deal as last summers’ business tardily concluded, thats why everyone and his dog knew it was happening it was no scoop. Which makes this window effectively what we should have done last time. If nobody comes in as well as Debuchy, this will also be a fail.
I think Pardew has sent a clear message to the owners how precariously their business model can position this club. Its all a great idea but if they are not careful, it will blow up in their faces. Time to act quick, spend the money that seemed to be available for Carroll i the summer, there’s £12m right there for a striker and a packet of digestives.
And finally, Mike – dont betray Pardew and sack him because everyone will quickly see that you sold him out and hung him out to dry in public while you penny-pinched and bragged about being a hard man in business negotiations.

269 Fenham Boy // Jan 5, 2013 at 7:59 PM
What a f….. mess. An owner with a business model of buy cheap for a small squad and maximize financial gain. A MD in charge of player recruitment who thinks Williamson and Perch are top draw players and a manager who plays Shola up front alone with Obertan and Sami as wingers neither of whom can cross a ball. Other than Krul there is not one player since Saylor who looks anything like a premier league player coming through from the Development squad.

these players who we bringing in are from the french league and that is a catagry 2 league not catagory 1 like the premier league laliga and bundes league
last year was probably a year we which our team were unknown simular to how some teams are thought of when they first get promoted.
this year teams know how we play, we have a mass of injuries, could be suffering a simularity to fulham and stoke when they were in europa league, we just don’t know.
All we do know is we have masses of injuries, lack of confindence and an owner who is unattractive and doesn’t show much ambition
277 nick_9 // Jan 5, 2013 at 8:03 PM
Two steps forward – I think you put a bit to much emphasis on how much they need to cost. A lot of our players were bought for peanuts and did the job of a much more expensive player. If we can do more of the same with a cb I’m sure we will all Be happy.
I don’t think Pards would be sacked if he said he really wants funds for a couple more players. I guess it depends how he worded it or how much detail he went into.
I’m getting a bit desperate now with signings and have started to see losing tiote form 10m upwards as a good deal if it gets two players, that’s the mike Ashley mindset right there.
Would love us to get that cb and striker this window then look at the cover players in the summer. It would be nice if we could accommodate sissoko or Diame too but other areas are a priority and we don’t really have room for a cm.

My thoughts exactly. Success is just two players away!! Folks should be happy in the knowledge that Noocarsel is better run and the team is playing better football than ever before. I mean how many owners have the acumen to overpay to the tune of £100m, appoint JFK, get relegated due to utter inaction, get lucky & bounce back but then sack a genuinely competent manager, get lucky and net £35m for an average striker, drop a blue chip sponsor for a nasty group of low life loan sharks, and then give me an 8 year deal? Classy, I say.

What the f*** went on today, that team today was not set out to win. I understand the league is the priority but we could have went out today, hammered them and got a bit of confidence back for the lads and used it as a springboard for the next few games. So far this season despite what we’ve seen I’ve never thought we were in trouble, too many injuries, too many games affecting our form etc, not now…..that has to be hands down the worst, most inept, un passionate display I’ve seen from many a team in many a year. Theres no point me slagging off willo as 99% of us are on the same page and have said it before but although both goals were his fault they lost together as a team of numptys.

Simple answer is that the younger players are simply not of the required standard, and I dont mean not ready yet, I mean not going to make it. Most of these are at an age when they should be having first team football if not here then in another PL or Championship team. Players like Ferguson, Vuckic, Abeid, Sammy, Tavernier, Ranger, Gosling… are not our future. I would be surprised if the likes of Inman, Dummett, Campbell ever make regular spots. We have a dire shortage of good serviceable players like Perch, who although some may consider to be sub-par, are decent understudies.

Blame the players, not just Pards. They are the ones that can change things.
That’s some truth but…
????
What’s the manager there for??? Just for showing his face in training and media talk or having relationship with the owner?
Ant he suppose to motivated?
Ant he suppose to organise?
Ant he suppose to plan and instruct?
Ant he suppose to built the team he wanted with the resources he can get as possible?
Ant he suppose to bring the best out of the players he have got?
Ant he suppose to let them play to their strength or making sure that his instruction is followed through?
Are you saying the players are not following the instruction given or not able to follow the instruction?
Or are you saying, the team of players don’t need any formation or game plans.
or maybe you are saying..They can survive without any manager and play better without any manager to give them the wrong pressure, the wrong instruction, the wrong game plan?
Should we play ultra-defensive when we have to? Or should we play counter-attacking when we got the chance? Should we sit back or should we chase and defence from the front? Or should our players be playing marking for this game. Passing or Long Ball. or Mix, free role..
291 West Lancs Geordie // Jan 5, 2013 at 8:16 PM
Tsunki – sensible comments.
Injuries can happen & will again but can’t afford to carry sicknotes. Saylor regretably will always be injury prone & HBA seems to be following suit. Can only be regarded as bonuses when fit. Gosling will never make it offload him. We will get Cabaye, Gutierrez & Simpson back fairly soon & indeed Tiote from AN Cup but the owners do need to fill key positions i.e 2 good CBs, a quick forward (something different like Ince) & another FB (like Pieters). I’m not sure they will and feel it will be patch & make do with loan players. Wouldn’t be my policy only my opinion. Ps tactically Cisse is never a right wing back & young Ferguson is probably the best left footed crosser of the ball in the club. Is it time to give Streete a go at CB in place of Willo and recall Good from Bradford.?

Dannyo yes which was why he was swapped. If Dummet develops like he showed today then another season or two and he’ll be good.

Should have specified a bit better. I mean that the players need to be that quality maybe not that fee. For example Debuchy is a £6m player and so is Santon, Colo was £10m and we need another £10m equivalent even if we got someone at the end of their contract for £6m. HBA is obviously more than a £6m player.
Williamson is a £1-2m player and Simpson the same imo. Cisse is def a £!0m forward and Remy too. Ba was NOT just a £7.5m forward – say £15m. Sissokho, Sakho and Toby are all £6-10m players imho but we might get two of them for say £12m given contract issues and pecking order at their currrent clubs. We need to pick up players at say 70% of their real worth to satisfy Batman he’s getting a bargain.

I am afraid that the spirit has gone
Pardew has a massive job to turn it round
I don’t think he can and the pragmatic Ashley will realise after a loss a Norwich and give him the bullet
Who next is the question ,he Is a dead man walking

One thing has saved this club from relegation last year and constant battles with it and that was Andy Carrolls sale, if Big Andy didnt go we would be looking at our first team today. Thats the ambition of the owner.
I expect BenArfa next out the door to fund the next 18 months transfers.
Thanks Liverpool for putting the club in with a fighting chance.
296 StevieB // Jan 5, 2013 at 8:21 PM
What an absolute disgrace. Where do I start? We are a very small minded club being surpassed by the likes of West Ham, West Brom and Norwich.
Ashley, if you are not going to release funds for new players, the best thing for you to do is leave asap. Everyone knows our squad is waifer thin yet we qualify for Europe so there wasnt a better opportunity to add some real quality to the squad but you have failed us big style by not doing so yet you expect us to stump up the money for tickets and merchandise
Pardew, grow some balls. You should be knocking down doors to demand money to spend. Stop be a yes man and sort this squad out now. Why is it that all Newcastle fans can see our defence has never been good enough yet you persist with the likes of Williamson and Simpson who have cost us numerous goals all season.
Sammy Ameobi has some talent but appears to adopting his brothers cocky, arrogant, casual attitude
Shola is no more than a 30 minute player. Flatters to deceive far too many times
Aheidi, I havent seen any positives yet
Anita is underperforming at the moment but is improving and hopefully come good once he gets used to the power and pace of the English game
Tiote, I know he wasnt playing today but has been a liability and it might be a good time to cash in while he still has some value.
Conclusion… Delighted with the capture of Debuchy but that should have been concluded in August. We also need another centre half, a midfield player and another striker this transfer window and thats just for starters before doing the right thing by allowing some of the above mentioned players namely Williamson, Simpson, Tiote, Shola and Aheidi to find pastures new. I would give Sammy one more season and if his attitude and performances dont improve, then he should also be on his way
FINALLY, Ashley do the right and honourable thing and reimberse all those marvellous fans who travelled to Brighton for their ticket and travel costs for todays game

Tsunki (264)
Some good points.
Puppet Pardew (280),
Not to mention Ashley potentialy hurting his own Brand (Sports Direct), by rebranding the stadium. I could never work that one out.

Villa have some “promising” youngers but getting tonked every week is destroying their confidence. That’s why there is no substitute for experience but it comes at a cost. A fine blend of both is ideal. Only Bigi & Fergie of our young players are worth a place on the bench. The rest should go out on loan. Don’t think Ranger, TavernierAmalfitiano, Abeid ,Sammy & Vukic are going to make the grade.

Even Sir Alex Ferguson, have not heard of MICHU. (Spanish top Midfield Scorer).
If such was the case, how much does AP knows anything abt football knowledge is a guess?
How much technical know-how does AP knows is also a guess.
We want stability so AP got to bring someone in to help him. Someone to help him watch the game, how each player is playing from the the top-view of the stadium. Reviews from video, advise on how to improve.
Did any player often run out of his position and leave a big gap or etc.
AP needs someone to help him out. If he is staying. Some have to give AP some advise to consider.

This post is going to be long.
I’ve had my gripe with Pardew for a long time. I truly believe since the day he took over until now we have played awful football without any signs of progress.
Yes there has been times when we played well but since he has been here that has been few and far between. I shall now list the fixtures from ast season and this to jog some of your memories. Now you may agree or disagree but you will probably come to a similar outcome however you look at it! It is not good enough, if anything we are worse under Pards than Hoots.
One thing is for sure, we score and defend our lead, we concede and are bereft of ideas. That is the truth.
If we stay up this season, Pards should be sacked. He is taking us nowhere, even with all the quality at his disposal.
Time for something new and if Ashley has the balls to invest, surely he has the balls to find a better manager.

Be prepared for :
1) Sack the Board, Sack the Board
Or
2) We want Pardew out we want Pardew out
or
3) You fat Cockney B…tard get out of our club
When nothing else significant buying wise happens in the window & the Puppet gets the blame & is sacked with no new apointment in before Feb 1st .
Three out of top six clubs in Prem have had same manager for 10+ years AlexF, Wenger & D Moyes any significance?
304 davis_toons // Jan 5, 2013 at 8:45 PM
NOTE:
Last season, MA was asking AP why was he not getting in a CD.
SO AP replay was, he needs to get his ideal CD not one that will be a laughing stock like David Luiz, (but he is doing well now, as it take times to settle for some players)
So who was to blame?
AP feels that Williamson was doing well!
AP feels that Colo marking will improve!
AP feels that Someone will head the ball out!
AP feels that Staylor will not get injure anymore.
AP feels that we have lots of players for the CD role.
No worries. Time is not ripe yet.
It was his decision!

Very poor performance today again, the kids were not up to the job and I don’t think they will be at any point. Also why was this game a lunchtime kick off? This gives the team less time to prepare and our loyal but long suffering supporters less time to make the longest away trip in the cup today. Full credit to the ones who did. The referee wasa disgrace, Shola was sent off for nothing, however I don’t think it would have made much difference. I’m not even thinking about the Europa League. As for relegation and Mr Pardew, remember for us to stay up there needs to be three teams worse than us. The likes of QPR, Reading and Southampton spring to mind. I’m undecided whether or not Pardew should go as if he did we would still have the same squad and who would we get in as his replacement? Although he is under pressure. We can now fully focus on our fight to stay up because that’s what it is and due to the numerous injuries to our stars of last season we need players in January and fast!

Now is the time for true Newcastle fans to do what they are famous for – show support for their team WHEN THINGS ARE LOOKING BAD!
It’s times like this when supporters show their true colors – I suggest the ‘fair weather’ supporters change their allegiance to a team that better fits their need to win mentality.
Pardew can only work with what he has available to him -you can’t blame the guy for lack of depth in the squad & injuries. I find it comical that the same folks that were lauding him as a great manager last year are now calling for his head – especially as they feel they know more about the game than the management team.
I urge the REAL supporters out there to continue to support the team – if we all play our part and REMAIN POSITIVE the team have a much better chance of getting out of this predicament.
I am frustrated as anyone else and am screaming for a win, but negativity helps no-one but the teams around us.

Wish we would get ourselves a spine of British players who have a bit of fight in them todays performance was abysmal.
309 ToonToon09 // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:12 AM
Pardew did not defend today’s display ?!!! He simply said what we already know A) We need to get senior players back and or B) Buy some more experience.
Did anybody notice that Krul, Colo, Saylor, Raylor, Guti, Tiote, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Cisse, and Ba’s replacement were all missing today ?!!!!!!
I am not defending today’s display but IF I could ever bring myself to bet against the Toon I would have won some money today ?!
Obertan and Williamson need to leave this club ASAP ?! Not a single ounce of talent or fight between the two of them !!!! Several of the youngsters on display today need to go out on loan or got rid of ?!
We need a Striker and CB b4 Wednesday ( we have known this since last season FFS).
The next 3 games could almost determine the outcome of this dire season.
Keep the Faith, with a full squad and another 2 top quality acquisitions we have a great 1st team.

U can’t expect guys who have been playing in the reserves or under 21s to gel straight away specially when the changes are like 8 players. 2 or 3 a team can handle not as many as the last game. So the result was not extra ordinary. Players need games together to get Rythem and gel as one unit
313 custurd // Jan 6, 2013 at 4:09 AM
With Krul, Collocini, Taylor, Santon,
Marveaux, Tiote, Cabaye, Cisse, Ben Arfa, now Debuchy, and so on, we have one of the strongest first teams outside of the top four… on paper, and they haven’t ALL been injured ALL season. Any moose from any division could manage that lot just by telling them to go out and play how they all know the game should be played. The mind boggles as to how one man can make them play so badly, but Pardew is managing it. I seem to recall he was sacked by Southampton due to low staff morale mainly. It’s happening again, but probably without the sacking…
314 ToonToon09 // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:11 PM
Cus-Turd
Can you please tell me how often ALL those players have played together ?????
Bet you are one of the Sack the board, sack the manager, cockney mafia out mob ?!!!!!
Jesuuuus, give Pardew a break, he hasn’t had many, he has worked with a skeleton squad ALL season and All of our senior players have either been out injured or suspended at some stage and then there’s the added workload of the Europa cup.
Keep The Faith
