Pardew – We Must Get Good Players In During January

9:18 pm, Saturday, January 5th, 2013 by Ed Harrison · 317 Comments

Alan Pardew – a distraught Alan Pardew – has come out after the game and said what most fans have been saying for some weeks now – that we must spend in the January transfer window, if we are going to maintain our Premier League status.

mathieu debuchy arrives

Mathieu Debuchy – he’s a great signing – but we need more

And we suppose one good thing about going on another four game losing streak, is that it may cause Mike Ashley and Derek LLambias to loosen the purse strings at the club.

We didn’t bring enough players in during the summer, and it will be daft to wait until this summer – because we could be relegated by then and selling some of our best players – so let’s buy say four players this January.

This is what Alan Pardew said after the game today:

“Not once this season have I had my best side out. We’re not too big to go down,” “I think it is important to spend. We lost Cheick and Demba, one to African Nations and one to a transfer. The most important thing for us is our Premier League status now because we’ve put ourselves at risk with all the injuries and the run we’re on.”

“We need to make sure we’re a Premier League side next season. We’re not hiding from that. We need our best players back.” “I’m a bit aggrieved I can’t put out a stronger team than that because there are young players who gave everything.” “Unfortunately they shouldn’t be playing for Newcastle in the third round, they should be in our development team.”

“But that’s where we’re at. We didn’t have enough good players on the pitch. That team is a shadow of the team we can put out. We never thought we’d be in this position. We should have brought in one or two more. We’re paying the price.”

Shola Ameobi, who was captain for the day managed yo add to our woes, as he was sent off for the second yellow card he received in the second half, but in truth they were both very soft yellow cards.

We’d like to see Douglas, Loic Remy and Moussa Sissoko brought in before February rolls around – then we could be in business - with Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor back within a week or two – and Mathieu Debuchy now at the club.

There’s six top class players right there.

What do you think?

It’s all good and well saying we need players we all know that just shut up and get them in

  • 3 Dannyo // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:21 PM

    Paying the price indeed.
But the paying will stop, it will for sure.
    Starting at Norwich.

  • 4 WWYCD // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:21 PM

Damn fing right we should of and I doubt this is a new revelation to our manager

  • 5 JTOONJ // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:22 PM

how about you take some action and bring us a decent CB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 6 BelfastMagpie // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:23 PM

    Tell Batman & Robin that.

Infact scrape that statement into Llambias’s car bonnet with your house keys.

  • 7 two steps forward one step back // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:23 PM

and let’s face it some are not even good enough for our development team

  • 8 Beattie25 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:24 PM

Pay the price for fcuking players in the Summer or even at the start of Jan. It’s now the 6th and we have got 1 player.

Should have been tied up early December.

  • 9 Novocastrian66 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:24 PM

What we saw today was what we will be left with if we get relegated. Not very pleasant. I have not slagged Ashley before, ever, but the club has definitely gone backwards in his stewardship.
When we last got relegated the squad was far stronger than the current one.
If / when we get relegated our top players will be off; Krul, Cabaye, Debuchy, Santon, Cisse, Tiote, will be gone. Possibly followed by; Collocini, Marveuax, Obertan, Jonas. What price loyalty? Not what we’re prepared to pay.
The future is bleak. The future is black and white.

  • 10 Dannyo // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:25 PM

    @WWYCD
Our manager is of the diplomatic kind.
But i do miss the Kinnear kind at times.

  • 11 Spreadthetoon // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:26 PM

talk is cheap….action and results on the pitch is where it counts! Loosing patience.

  • 12 Marzy // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:26 PM

Shameful performance today, really shows that we lack depth in our squad!, desperately need new CB’s as Williamson was definitely are weak link tonight amongst others granted!

  • 13 Toon1978 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:26 PM

Stop the talking Pards and do something about this situation.

  • 14 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:27 PM

    JTOON
Probably because pardew doesnt buy the players
I know ppl are sick of hearing him say the same line but tbf all he’s doing is putting more and more pressure on the board to pull there finger out and get some buisness done
    Over to you mr ashley…..

  • 15 Beattie25 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:27 PM

Don’t forget 2013-14 (next season) is a world cup year.

All internationals or bordering internationals will want to leave.

It will be like Birmingham, but even worse!

  • 16 Big Pappa Cissé // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:27 PM

Am I the only one that thinks we won’t have another signing before the Norwich game ?

  • 17 TorqToon // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:27 PM

1892 – I think I got called an ITK a whole back as I work closely with the some of the medical teams in Ligue 1, 2 and a handful of top flight English clubs. However I WISH I was ITK!

All I will say is I’m in France now and everybody is very hush hush about the possibility of an NUFC contingent being in the country. Normally everything is so open around here. But it’s all a bit cloak and dagger.

  • 18 King Arfa // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:27 PM

pardew must be desperate to come out and actually speak the truth and say we need bods now lol hope ur listening u fat cockney oxygen thief!

  • 19 WWYCD // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:29 PM

    Dannyo
Time to stick the diplomacy as far as am concerned. He’s going to lose his job either way at this rate either he openly show the world what’s going on or he’s painted as a puppet who can’t manage a PL team

I firmly believe he wanted more in the summer (clearly when Raylor went down) and was told no chance make do

  • 20 BelfastMagpie // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:29 PM

They need to be all loaned out ffs.

Just bring in established players for a while & stop signing kids that shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team.

And when I say established players, I dont mean Joe Cole etc etc on crazy wages.

  • 21 Beattie25 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:29 PM

A manager should always be on the side of the fans, we can see clearly where his loyalties lie.

  • 22 Novocastrian66 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:29 PM

Shola is shit. The only positive out of today’s game for me is he will not be available next week. Harsh? Maybe, but he was not a captain today. He is a joke.

  • 23 Dannyo // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:30 PM

    @BPC
Not imperative that we do tho is it?
One more body will come on anyways. At the least imo.

  • 24 Kyo // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:30 PM

We’re not beating Norwich. They’re a tough nut to crack at home. Manure and Arsenal couldn’t do it.

  • 25 Kyo // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:31 PM

We’re going down. What I said would happen is happening right now.

Dannyo you can call me a Mackem again if you’d like. Maybe it will help you feel better knowing you were wrong.

    Answered in the previous post.
I wish you were right though, i need hope :)

  • 27 Dannyo // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:32 PM

    @WWYCD
Ye, it’s clear he wanted more. But AP aint the type to give public stick.
We’ll just have to hope he pressures the board as much as possible, and that they actually realise the danger here atm.

  • 28 thai-mag // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:34 PM

we are another Leeds, if we manage to get 4th bottom thats all we are good for, but I think we are going down again, Norwich, Reading and Villa up next, all must win games, 3 or 4 new signings wont help us this season

  • 29 1892 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:34 PM

Dannyo, Forren hasnt been picked up yet.
Do you believe he would suit Newcastle?
What I like about him is that he`s good in both boxes and seldom hoof the ball away? Never loses his calm either.

  • 30 DanRo // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:34 PM

Firstly, I am not Pardew’s biggest fan but Pardew can’t win with some people. He is criticised for NOT saying ‘we need more players,’ and then he is criticised again for saying the same thing!

Injuries has had a massive impact on our season.
The board not investing in the summer has caused issues throughout the season.
The players and the manager have to also take some of the responsibility as to where we’re currently positioned.

However, keep the manager, keep the continuity, keep believing – more likely to bring success.

  • 31 yorkymag // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:34 PM

I think that’s harsh on Shola
He is an impact sub definetly not shit

  • 32 Mister Tuff // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:34 PM

With the potential new arrivals rumours, reports of a Toon delegation on the Continent, Percy stating we need new players in public (as if hes just released the fact) -to me it’s obvious Ashley has authorised a big spend.

  • 33 RonVanDam // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:36 PM

  • 34 WWYCD // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:36 PM

Am sure the board realize it just whether they care enough to push us up the table or they are happy to fight relegation am sure everyones contract is sorted this time so tubs doesn’t have to cover us in the championship again.

Suppose we could get Best back though, boy do I miss him

  • 35 spitfire_ // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:37 PM

  • 38 toonfan_Ew // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:38 PM

Pardew, all talk no action. I just hope come the end of January we look back and are happy with the acquisitions we make. Talking of our next three games, with the form we are on at the moment, I can see us getting 4-5 points. We keep saying how important the next game is and its a must win, I’d rather see us keep to our word and win them as opposed to just talking about them. God, I’m pessimistic. On a happier note, I like what you’ve done with the page header Ed; Debuchy, Debuchy!

  • 39 yorkymag // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:39 PM

    Mister tuff
I would love yo to be right but not a hope
Remy heavily tipped to go to QPR £110 k a week we simply can’t compete it’s not even close
Our pay structures the problem and ashley is not going to introduce the salary cap unilaterally

  • 40 bettyswallocks // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:39 PM

So sick of Pardew and his predictable spin on what was a fcuking pathetic display.

The interview on ESPN posted by Turkish Mag when Pardew was first appointed was 100% accurate,

Pardew tries to pretend to be a modern thinking coach but has no idea how to implement a consistent pass and move system.

As he did today when the team runs out of creativity he reverts to route one hope to get a lucky bounce football.

He is a conman as was stated on ESPN when he signed .

No idea how to manage skillful technical players .

    HE HAS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 41 Novocastrian66 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:39 PM

Williamson looked like he was running in treacle with lead boots on. He is the Shola of the centre half world…..Shola is the Williamson of the centre forward world. I think?
    Either way they’re both shit.

“Pardew, who met Llambias on Thursday to discuss his budget, has already landed France international right-back Mathieu Debuchy from Lille for £5.5 million, but he wants around £15 million more to spend on a forward and a centre-back.”

15??~?~?~? that is peanuts who is he trying to kid.

    Yorkymag. Shola is shit.

  • 49 Beattie25 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:45 PM

Why wouldn’t Remy sign for NUFC?

Think about it logically. For 6 months he will get paid more there than he would at NUFC. They will give him a better get out clause and if he impresses then he is likelier to be able to leave QPR at the end of the season than NUFC.

Why should he come to us?

It is Demba Ba to West Ham all over again!!

  • 50 Beattie25 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:48 PM

That should have read would not wouldn’t.

  • 51 Novocastrian66 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:49 PM

Beatie; if I was Remy I’d sign for QPR.

  • 52 1892 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:50 PM

    Beattie25

I would actually not be surprised if he went there, just pissed. Newcastle can put some idiotic clauses in his contract too, I`m sure they can. Our french contigent can be the difference if it boiles down to us or them

  • 53 JTOONJ // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:52 PM

It is frustrating, but i’ve read in many newspapers about our success last year, that Derek Llambias is in charge of budgets and transfers so if anyone he is to blame!

  • 54 wynsleap // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:53 PM

Pardew – “We should have brought one or two more in – we’re paying the price”.
What intellect. What insight. What a load of c**p.
It didn’t take rocket science at the end of the last transfer window to realise we had missed the boat with signings at a time when we could work from a position of strength. He should have been in there giving it straight to Ashley – but the man has no balls.
…and it’s going to cost him his job anyway.

  • 55 MUTINYbyLEMONS // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:54 PM

    Novo

Good thing you are not Remy

  • 56 Beattie25 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:54 PM

But again NUFC are no longer a big club that all players aspire too.

We are a stepping stone. With relegation looming for both clubs QPR are the better option as we know they will invest massively and have a half decent manager.

Remy might come out of loyalty to his French mates but QPR are (from an objctive point of view) the better option for him.

  • 57 Slatymag // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:54 PM

£15m!! Well we can forget about Remy and Sakho. One or the other maybe at best with some cheapies thrown in from Ligue 1 probably. Who am I kidding – when can you ever believe anything Pardew says about transfers?

  • 58 Kyo // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:55 PM

You guys reckon we’ll lose the Double DreamBoat if we go down?

  • 59 Toon1978 // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:55 PM

Spot on. Remy and Debuchy type players should have been bought 6 months ago. NUFC are paying for their inept decisions now.

  • 60 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:56 PM

    wyn agreed 100%

its so obvious its hilarious. Also All this delegation going to france. God sakes there is the rest of europe to go to. Germany, Spain, Italy whatever.

If they dont seal a player within a day or two and start to bargain again which I can assure you they will it would just be too much to bare…

  • 61 JackButler // Jan 5, 2013 at 9:57 PM

Ashley needs to pay the price for players and not haggle to the point where we miss out for the sake of a million pounds like we’ve done with Debuchy.
Either back your manager or sack him and bring in Dynamo as we need a magician with this wafer thin squad

  • 65 Mister Tuff // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:00 PM

york @39 -did a post yesterday to the effect that I did not think Remy would be after some extra pieces of silver from the Chicken Farmers -as he is trying to resurrect his career/regain his form -he will realise the potential that the Chicken Farmers face the higher potential of the drop. also I think Taarabt is the only French speaker there whereas we have loads and Benny knows him well. Seems more reason for him to come to SJP.

  • 66 Spuggy // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:01 PM

Why oh why didn’t we bring in Debuchy, a CB and a striker in the summer when we were flying high and had the momentum.

I don’t think Ashley realises how great the core of this team is.

Another 20 million and we could have gone to the next level. That’s peanuts these days.

    Such a massive shame.

  • 67 Novocastrian66 // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:03 PM

Wyn. He might of thought that as he is such a good manager that he could get any shower in the top half of the division. That may be why he did not demand signings.
Good players make good teams. Good managers buy good players and mould them into a team. Like Clough, Paisley, Ferguson.

  • 68 Toon1978 // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:04 PM

HBA and Debuchy down that right hand side will be awesome.

  • 69 GeordieAnt // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:05 PM

You know what I find highly annoying? The fact that the same people who were up Pardew’s a**e last season saying he was the best manager we’d had since SBR, are now the ones slagging him off and calling for him to be sacked. It’s just showing how fickle some of our fans are, and it’s tiring to read. Yes Pardew isn’t ever going to be one of the top 5 best managers in the world, but he’s what we have, and while we do have him as a manager we should be backing him. After all…it’s just like the whole MA situation, when people had the “Ashley out” chants at our games, why the hell would he want to help the club out by investing when everyone is giving him abuse? Well start abusing Pardew and he’s probably going to adopt the same attitude. End of the day…we have a team of which 75% would probably walk into a top 5 club with ease, we have a manager who won 2 managerial awards last season, we have balanced books. We’re going through a major blip that could be occuring due to many reasons, but until we get relegated, why don’t you guys just get behind the damn team, and support them. Try acting like the fans most of the world thinks we are. Thank god they don’t read this blog and see just how negative and fickle a lot of the fans are. I for one am a proud Geordie, and I will continue to support our team, and our manager no matter what, even if we get relegated. No I’m not saying I’d be happy about us being relegated or that I’m willing to accept mediocre positions in the PL, I’m simply saying that this is OUR club, and we should start acting like the rest of the world thinks we do, and show our pride to be Geordies. The fickle fans that some of you appear to be make me a little sick to be honest. What the hell do you think complaining is going to do? You seem to think that MA/DL/AP are going to read the blog and suddenly think “Well damn…they seem pretty upset, maybe we should do something about it” and suddenly invest 100 million on players. It’s just not going to happen, so rather than being so f**king negative, why don’t you start backing our team, and believe that we can still turn our season round. Rant over

I think we missed a big oppertunity in signing Joe cole, if he would of took a pay cut he would of been a quality signing it was at least worth an enquiry.

If the board dont want to spend then we can loan i.e guiddeta (city) tom huddlestone (spurs) lescott (city) livermore (spurs)

We also need to get rid of this stupid transfer policy of no over 26 yo’s because frankley with all our injurys its a team of kids!! we need some experiance i.e cheap experianced signings- upson, lambett,

and i really hope we dont sign that miaga from west ham!!!!

No excuses we should be able to put out a team to beat Brighton. We have players who are simply not good enough. i was listening on Radio 5 and the i think it was Craig Burley who said Obertan was not premiership quality. Shola has been there years and is not going to turn into a world star now although his impact as a sub is worth having. Sammy was terrible and even santon looked poor today. I think the tactics are questionable to say the least. So another year without even the sniff of a trophy. I feel let down as a supporter. When SAF said we are a small team in the North East, I thought at the time it was a over the top insult. Todays game confirmed his opinion and it hurts

  • 80 nick_9 // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:08 PM

Players who participated in our relegation season:
Given, colo, Enrique, Nolan, Cacapa, Guthrie, martins, Owen, duff, bassong, harper, zog, Gonzales, Milner, Taylor R, smith, guti, Xisco, geremy, beye, butt, shola, lovenkrands, Taylor S, Edgar, Viduka, Carroll, kazenga,

We sold Milner after a couple of games and signed Nolan in January.

    Spending: £26 mill
Income from transfers out: £32.8 mill

Looks an ok squad for numbers but had no real midfield. Can see why the wage bill was high.

  • 81 JackButler // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:09 PM

Calling for Pardew to be sacked is plain stupid as Ashley would refuse to back any manager we have.
We all new that we were desperate for a center half, right back and striker as Ba was always going to leave when the right offer came in. but we did nothing about it and now we are paying for it big time

When Pards praises the players he gets told to get real and tell them straight. When he says players aren’t good enough he gets jumped on for making excuses. He can’t win.

Do any of you really think he was happy with our transfer business this summer? He was gutted.

Now he has publicly put the onus on Ashley. If players don’t arrive it isn’t Pards fault. If they do, and our better players get fit also, then lets judge him. But the situation is down to the owner. No one else.

But lads, we have good players. And with another good defender we can kick on.

“We must get good player in during January”. It’s this kind of statement which has made Pardew one of the foremost thinkers of his generation. Personally I liked his earlier work better though – “Tuesday follows Monday”. So sublime, and yet so obvious when you think about it!

stupid thing to say but we miss saylors goals from fk’s/corners as we have only recently started to do anything with them since raylor and cabaye got injured.

I don’t agree. If we had a manager who was brought to the club under decent circumstances and he had a track record of decent football and marginal to good success then I think we’d unite behind him and through thick and thin support him unless the situation was looking perilous.

Alan ticks none of the above boxes apart from the situation being perilous.

I certainly think a Laurent Blanc, Alain Casanova or a Rudi Garcia would get this team playing good football. Would it be too late for them to turn it around?!

  • 101 GeordieAnt // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:16 PM

    @Beattie

I want the best for our club too, however my point is regardless of what happens I’ll still back the club, the players and the manager, because moaning about it really doesn’t do anything other than create an air of negativity which really doesn’t help the team. What do you think is better for the players on the pitch? 50000 Geordies creating the atmosphere that we’re capable of creating, or 50000 Geordies moaning, complaining and booing creating a negative atmosphere that wouldn’t spur on any player.

    @King Arfa

Not biting back mate, and no disrespect intended but surely given your reasoning of it being a blog, and people airing their views…surely that means I’m allowed to air my views on their views?

Selby couldn’t disagree more as I’m firmly in the prohba mob. He is a game changer and an excellent one at that. He gives the ball away as he is a chancer and tries to make stuff happen. I really don’t see how he can be seen as a liability due to the positive play he brings. He should be played in the middle where he has a DM next to him and a Defense behind, not on the wing with just Simmo behind. Each to their own like, no name calling from me.

  • 119 GeordieAnt // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:23 PM

I simply picked 100 million out of the air mate, it wasn’t an exaggeration, but more of a “Well City and Chelski spend a fortune on players and they’re almost always in the top 5.” I wasn’t trying to make any kind of point with the number at all, and as for seeing criticism as “Anti-NUFC criticism,” obviously I do seeing as we’re on a NUFC blog and criticising NUFC…am I incorrect?

I also want the best for the club, and I’d love us to be one of the big hitters season after season, nothing would make me happier. To an extent it doesn’t matter who the manager is as when you get passed our best 11 we have a very, very poor squad.
A manager who isn’t backed by the chairman and owner is a manager who is always going to fail at some point.
Do you honestly think that the like of Perch, Willo and Simpson would be playing every week if he had better players at his disposal?
I agree that he isn’t the best manager in the game but he’s been shafted at every turn by Ashley and co by failing to back him in the transfer marker and strengthen the squad.
We have one of the best scouts in the game in Graham Carr but is talent is hardly used. For an investment of lets say 30 million we could bring in 4/5 quality players who would make a massive difference to this squad but we all now that’ll never happen

Just because we have had crap players over the years doesn’t mean we have to quietly put up with and accept the rubbish we’ve got now. And we didn’t have an ultra rich owner then either so there was a little excuse for having to watch sub-standard performers at that time.

Don’t forget he has had a say in retaining their services and he felt that the youth were up for it this season.

A better manager wouldn’t have let this happen

For me he is desperately looking for Ashley to get him out of trouble (like we all are). That doesn’t sound convincing, confident or like he has faith in his own ability to get the best out of the players he wanted to keep here.

One thing is for sure, these players were not struck by lightning during one match, injuring them at the same time. This poor run of form hasn’t happened over night, it’s been like this since August and we haven’t played decent football under Pardew other than the odd glimpse.

Pass on love and devotion to the next generation of supporters? You believe being negative and not getting behind the team and manager we have shows love and devotion to the club. If it is in fact us fans that make the club, and yes I believe to a large extent we do….then our club is incredibly negative, fickle and to an extent quite pathetic given the lack of support people show towards the team when we start playing badly. Of course you can sit and call me stupid and every other name you choose to pull out of your massive range of insults that I’ve read way too many times on this blog. End of the day I have never attacked you personally, I was simply airing my views on what I feel would be better for the club, and that is getting behind them during a tough time, rather than being negative about it. Relegation severely scarred a lot of Newcastle fans, because before that we thought we would always be good enough to not be relegated, and now we know different, therefore I do understand the negativity to an extent, but the level of negativity is getting out of control, do you not agree? Feel free to continue hurling insults at me…water off a ducks back mate, or before this turns into an all night slagging match you could choose to call a truce and agree that we both just have different opinions on how we should support the club

and we have got all the great players on low wages for very cheap prices ! even the youngsters have quality for money (but not near 1st team lvl yet)
if we had the same value for money as squad members we would have a euro challenging team as it was with few injuries last season.
he’s not been in charge too long atm and he’s allready built half of it so reguardless of where we are now lets see if he can build a squad in the next year.

For all those wanting a certain Norwegian manager with only minor success – Solskjaer – you can now improve on that and have a Norwegian with major success – six championships won in Norway and Denmark.

Yes Solbakken has become available at just the right time.

  • 155 tannerabag // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:49 PM

It would surprise me if AP didn’t have some sort of minimum performance requirement in his contract together with an annual review and that failure to achieve certain targets, such as top ten in the league for example, would trigger grounds for termination – hence the one year salary compensation clause. This can be the only reason that I can think of that would explain his recent team selections and choice of substitutes which seem more of a desperate gamble than any sort of coherent strategy.

lol people who keep saying it will cost too much to get rid of Pardew dont know what there talking about. Its widely reported that in pardews contract was a termination clause that would mean he would only receive 1 years salary as compensation. Knowing Ashley i think this is definately the case.

    Geordie Ant

You’re either very young or seriously daft as you just don’t get it.

Get me into a stadium with any other fan and I will sing as loud, I will cheer and scream and be passionate with every fiber of my being. I will support every player that puts on that top as they represent me and my love for NUFC.

But after the game if I believe the professionals paid to play the game I love for the team that I love haven’t put in enough effort, I will certainly say something about it.

The same goes for Pardew, Ashley, Llambias and every other half hearted twat, who lacks quality, passion and the ability our club deserves.

The bare minimum we deserve is 100% effort from the players. Would you call that 100% today? I wouldn’t!

So it is my right as a fan to state my anger.

We live in a footballing democracy and that is what makes NUFC so great to support. Yes there are polarizing views but without them how do we grow?

If everyone was like you we’d be financially raped for the next 20 years under Ashley. We will not though as the anger leads to movement leads to action.

I want the future NUFC fans to be able to voice their opinions no matter what for the good of the club and hopefully in time it can lead to glory.

If you are happy with shite players, managers and chairmen making a living from the backbone of honest hard working men and women then you are not a true fan.

  • 172 lesh // Jan 5, 2013 at 10:59 PM

The way I read Pardew’s public call for signings is that we’re seeing the politics being played out in public.

I don’t believe for a minute that this is the first time he’s banged this drum, the need for signings. Remember last summer, when he was publicly saying we expect to sign this player and that player and what happened? They didn’t sign!

Rembember when, near the close of the window and out of exasperation, he went public with the news that he’d told MA and Llambias that the dressing room were beginning to get restless, wondering whether the sqaud was to be strengthened. And lo and behold, we signed a token player in Anita!!

Let’s remind ourselves that Pardew’s an experienced manager and he’ll have advised on the shortcoings in the squad on a number of occasions and when the signings didn’t arrive, he quite understandably and professionally, stuck with the party line that the decisons were collective, that he had agreed with them. That is the business-like way to go on when in management – don’t illustrate any discord among the club’s senior management.

I’ve suggested before that he had been stuffed, kippered and hung out to dry, take the flak by Llambias and believe that he’s the man responsible for the current plight of the club. Unfortunately, Ashley’s clearly supported the cash-conscious, short sighted oaf!

Sad to say, I’l apply the old saying that $hit doesn’t run down hill and if anybody’s to carry the can, it’ll be Pardew.

So, where are we now? Fans are clearly dissillusioned with Pardew and clearly inadequate performances from players who available and are either not up to the standard we require or thoroughlydemotivated. Pardew can only do so much – you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear!

Let’s get behind the manager as the last thing he and the players need to hear are cries for his head.

With Ashley’s support and some sizeable funds for transfers and sensible and urgent, serious and targetted negotiations, we should be able to get some quality players in and extricate the club from the mire it’s currently in.

We need and Managing Director with football experience or a Director of Football who has Ashley’s ear as well as supporting the manager and taking the club forward.

For the sake of Newcastle United, disgruntled fans should resist being sucked into the trap of calling for Pardew’s head as is beginning to happern. They shpuld get behind Pardew and the players to show Ashley that the fans’ll not accept him being scapegoated.

I agree with you, the mentality of the owner has to change but Pardew still doesn’t pick the team based on quality, form or ability. He picks whomever fits into his rigid and shit formation.

He likes decent, hardworking players but with that comes a price.

Like Shearer said, decent and hard working isn’t enough. If you want that go into Newcastle city center on a Saturday afternoon,

Pardew should have forced Ashley into a position where had to replace the crap we have, a better manager would have.

Maybe that is what he is doing now.

Are you telling me that our manager has no say in what happens on the transfer front? Whether that is ins or outs. If that is the case then we a fooked forever. Leon Best was moved on so why not a Willo or a Simmo?!

Maybe the majority of it was the owner but I believe Pardew had a say in it too.

Selby if you have been around for years i would maybe think about getting your eyes checked as HBA rarely loses possesion and even when he does its normally because he is trying to be positive which not many of our players do. Teams also will double mark him becuase we have nothing else on the pitch to cause problems and also an terrible RB alongside offering no support on overlaps etc. If he was at Chelsea for instance he would not be asked to track back (shackled) anywere near as much and also teams could not mark him so tightly as the players around him like Mata would kill them if they concentrated on HBA. I 100% believe if he was at a top team he would set the league alight and would not look out of place in a Barca team.

Sir Alex Ferguson claims he has received backing from many Toon Army members following his controversial comment that Newcastle United is a ‘wee club in the North East’.
The Manchester United manager revealed that, among many emails he received about the issue from fans of the Tyneside club, several welcomed what he said.
Ferguson has sought to exclude Newcastle supporters from his observations last week, insisting that they were directed only at the club’s lack of success over the years – a failure compounded by their 2-0 defeat at Championship side Brighton in the third round of the FA Cup.
The Scot, who celebrated his 71st birthday on New Year’s Eve, clashed with Alan Pardew after the Newcastle manager commented that Ferguson had been fortunate to escape FA censure following his confrontation with Mike Dean and his assistant Jake Colin, after the referee reversed a decision to disallow a Newcastle goal during the fiery 4-3 battle at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
The FA chose to take no action because Dean did not include the incidents in his referee’s report on the game.

‘Among the criticism there were also messages from people who feel they have been let down by the club and that it has not matched their own ambitions for success,’ he said.

The United manager sparked a storm of anger in Newcastle when he hit back at Pardew, saying: ‘The problem for me and Manchester United is that the profile of the club is huge. I’m the manager of the biggest club in the world. I’m not like Newcastle, a wee club in the North-East.’
Now Ferguson wants to heal any possible rift with Newcastle fans. ‘It was never my intention to belittle Newcastle fans,’ he said.
‘I want to clear up any misunderstanding that may have arisen over what I said. I have nothing but the highest regard for Newcastle fans and I always have had. They are up there with the best supporters in the game. Their passion, commitment and fervour have never wavered, even though they have had little to celebrate.
‘They have turned up in numbers to get behind their team wherever and whenever the games have been played. When I take a team to St James’ Park, I have stressed to the players that not only have they got to beat the opposition on the field, just as important is coping with the atmosphere created by the fans.

Sadly, results have not matched their loyalty. If Newcastle’s achievements had matched the support of the people who pay to watch them play, the club would be among the game’s giants. It’s tragic that they haven’t been able to win a league title for over eighty years.’
It was United’s barnstorming finish to the 1995-96 season, when they won nine out of their last 11 matches, that denied Newcastle the league title, after Kevin Keegan’s team was 12 points clear at the end of February.
The following season they again finished as runners-up. Ferguson said: ‘The whole country would like to see a Newcastle team that matched the one in the Keegan era when they took us to the wire.’

maybe he’s just aware of what influance negativity has in that it only takes one prick to take it too far at a game to start a chant that makes our best players wonder what the fk they are doing playing for fans that make them feel like shit.
we need to make players loyal to us which is the fans job as we can not afford 100k a week for a player and we do it by supporting them.
and we all know its not rosy at the club and all think differently about how its wrong atm but imo changing a manager as we did before never has changed anything for the better for us apart from one or two out of 1/2/3/…meh lost count as we went through 3/4 managers a season

Shola and Williamson are two of the biggest donkeys in professional football right now. They are a disgrace to Newcastle, football and humanity. It just puzzles me, as to how pathetic untermenschs like these two sleep at night knowing that they are stealing and cheating their way through life. They make a living by taking the fans hard earned money in exchange of doing nothing. It’s just so wrong on so many levels. No decent human with an ounce of integrity and honor would do such a thing.

Also I don’t like Pardew and I’ve expressed that before, here. I told you all how tactically inept he is and how his decisions and playing style is costing us since even before the Everton away game. but I was met by ridicule and outrage by most of the fans. Those same fans are calling for his head right now. I find it quite funny.

However, it will be a huge mistake to sack the manager right now. Because we need new players and sacking Pardew will ensure the fact that we won’t get anyone in this transfer window. The same happened when we sacked fat Sam. We were very close to sign Diarra from Arsenal but once he got sacked the deal was off. So lets not do that again shall we.

Nope your wrong if its one player who will it would be him. I can’t believe a fellow fan is arguing his impact its huge. When he first come into the team i would agree retaining possession was a problem but thats not the case anymore. Even if it was god if he was told to stop trying to run it players due to being afraid of losing possession he would be half the player and we wouldn’t have seen some of the best goals to be scored in a black nd white shirt. Get a grip

  • 231 Spreadthetoon // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:24 PM

I think MA will back AP in the tfr mkt cos’ for us to be relegated would be too costly…..just not sure how much backing that is likely to be. Most wealthy owners are willing to dig deep…..but the reality is that MA approach is strictly based on the P&L and the B/S so those expecting big money….well forget it….and if we do invest heavily now….then expect some purples to be gone in the summer.
However I am not convinced with AP, and I accept that injuries have been disruptive and have definitely impacted on our season. But I do not accept that the fall of grace isn’t without criticism of AP. His tactics have been woeful….he claimed he wanted to use this match as a springboard to get momentum……not sure what he was reaching for as today is the worst thing I’ve seen in some time. We can all blindly follow…….but I am tellin’ ya we cannot afford to go down……cos if we do forget the premiership for some time…..we’ll end up like borough. Do I think AP is right for the long term of NUFC? Sadly no. Do I think another manager could do marginally better than AP given the resources he has been given? Yes Our losses against West Ham/Swansea/Stoke etc were in my opinion avoidable given the personnel that we had involved in those matches – cannot blame all the results in injuries. Remember our worst run in the EPL ever! Well that’s near on 20 years – wot you gonna tell me cos its injuries, the player quality, MA….perhaps….but its also cos’ AP is hapless.

If Ferguson said that in a response to a question at a press conference credit to the man. If it was a written statement then the patronising twat can shove it.
He got a lot of stick from all quarters for his put down of our club. If this is a written statement it is a calculated attempt to redeem himself.
Even the Man U loving southern press had a pop at him for belittling one if the countries greatest clubs.

I personally feel Alan Pardew is tactically inept, i have to say he just does not have a plan b, his players go on to that pitch and look like they have not been working on anything in training even though they will have been doing, its pathetic at times ot really is.

And yet again he is blaming the younger players for not being good enough, so willy perch obertan shola were outstanding were they, i will say sammy is a total headless chicken, gives the ball away far to often and did not put a cross in from a wide position completly sad, obertan is another headless chicken body languAge is awful and effort today was not acceptible.

Williamson??? Cant sat anything more about the lad without probably getting varred from the website, more intrested in making sure his hair is in place!!!!!

Perch, not a fan either and i am not havin this perchinho bull, he had been in to many defeated teams to nonchalant and just nit good enough.

We had every player available who was available for everton apart from tiote, and cisse has come out tonight and sId he should be ready for norwich, nothing wrong with the lad, why didnt he start with marveaux ???? So then why bemoan lack of available players!!

Shola strolling around and getting a red for a stupid challenge he did not have to do then getting a pat on the arse of AP? Fcukin comical. We had players to win tjis fame he dis not play them marv campbell fergie should have played, those two central mudfield clowns have cost ys dear again, AP’s desisions AP’s responsibility AP not getting plAyers or tactics or formations correct, buck stops with the manager im not havin his bo££ox any more, fed up with the bloke i really am.

  • 242 banjax // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:29 PM

We had a great season last year. But yet again, Ashley would not listen to his manager. First we needed quality players bringing in so players like Williamson would be used as the squad player he is. Next fitter players, because the difference from last season is that most of our players put no pressure on the opposition this season. Next numbers, a bigger squad was needed, not just a replacement for a player moved on. There is no doubt that Mike Ashley is at fault here because he could see no reason to give Pardew more money than was necessary. Even Billionaires have lessons to learn about football and the investment that’s needed BEFORE the shit hits the fan. What is the point of breaking even when relegation gets you nowt, rather than investing in quality players to bring greater wealth and trophies. It ain’t the fault of our Manager of the Year 2012 who is to blame, he is still the same man now – no – you need to look to Mike Ashley and ask him if he has learnt any money lessons about football – before it’s too late ! For gods sake Ashley, show some of the ambition that clubs like Liverpool and Spurs show, instead of acting like the no hopers people (everyone but the Toon fans) have us pegged as !!

”People spend too much time finding other people to blame, too much energy finding excuses for not being what they are capable of being, and not enough energy putting themselves on the line, growing out of the past, and getting on with their lives.”

”The real man is one who always finds excuses for others, but never excuses for himself. ”

”Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses. ”

”We need to hear the excuses men make to themselves for their worthlessness. ”

  • 249 NewEnglandGeordie // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:35 PM

You lot are embarrassing for how quick you’ll turn on players and manager alike. I’ve heard talk of Moyes again and again on here, when even he was put into 17th place in his 3rd year with Everton. Now Everton have settled, and see consistent results, this period of adjustment was expected, hence the “5-year plan.” Sure, more signings over the summer would have helped (especially in defense), but Bigi is turning out to be a great buy along with almost every other that has been brought in in the last few years. And everyone else ripping into Shola and the lot should be ashamed, as he’s loyal to the club and often comes on and changes games. Or is QPR too far back to remember? Come on, support the club for ffs. We’ll hopefully get some help at the back and a Striker and a few starters back and hit a deserved run of form. Howay the Lads!

  • 255 solano // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:41 PM

After reading Geordie Ant’s Rant…..maybe tonight wasn’t a great time for me to return from injury and say “I told you so”. But there, I’ve said it, and take only an ameobiful (sic) of comfort knowing that bills and the woodenheads were wrong! wrong! wrong! This is just too painful to watch the club implode, induced by it’s own complacency and arrogance.
Eccliastes in an old religious book (and also Pete Seeger) told us “to everything, there is a season, a time and place…a time to castaway stones and a time to gather stones together”
No probs supporting the team, but now is exactly the time and this is the place that so called “negative criticism” on the wider issues involving the club is relevant because the people who run our club aren’t fit for purpose and would struggle to get a whelk stall license in Margate.
The reason criticism is warranted and justified right now is because there is a transfer window open and an opportunity is available to save ourselves from relegation. The manager hasn’t got the balls to say it out loud and ask for what is needed but the paying customer and fan has the RIGHT to pass comment! What is worse is that all this happened before, back in 2009 and if we are to avoid adopting the yo-yo tag that Sunderland used to have a monopoly on, then the fans must exert their power in demanding Newcastle start fulfilling the potential that people have talked about all my life.
Debate is still centreing on Pardew’s status as manager but to me his departure is now inevitable and accelerating almost by the hour, while those with the ability to remember previous crimes know how to spot a Patsy from the manipulators and real culprits. If a season which should have promised a tilt at a Cup and a top 4 spot turns into a second relegation in 4 years, I hope someone remains to turn the lights of at SJP (formerly known as the Sports Direct Arena) because the ‘squad’ I watched today, is in no way equipped for a Championship bid when the inevitable Judas exodus – that relegation would signal -begins.
Nothing convinces me more of the owner’s guilt than having to watch millstone’s like Ranger embarrassing the shirt of my beloved club and a ball-less manager having to pick him, when any simpleton could see we had 50+ games to play with only a venneer of adequate quality.

There is also a more worrying precedent. But that’s the team I see for the nxt 3 games, not necessarily in that formation though – that should be enough to get 7 pts after all we got Norwich, Reading, Villa.
IMO given our position in the league and theirs our whole season is very much dependent upon the next 3 games – loose these and I think its safe to say we can kiss goodbye to the EPL. In that event we’re loose out our best players who have release clauses as MA didn’t want to be lumbered with high wages in the championship again…….and that will then leave us with the dross that we had today…..as our 1st team!

Can we please stop with all this talk about sacking Pardew.. yes he is currently in a shit run, but this is not all down to him. If anything i think this spell of injuries has been rather beneficial, Marveaux proving to be the player we all thought he was, Bigirimana showing promise of pressing football, Anita looking much more suited in the newcastle shirt. But more to the point it has shown to Ashley that we have very little depth to our side. We are not going to be relegated, but we wont finish higher than 10th in my opinion. Lets stop with all this negative criticism to Pardew, and get behind the Lads and the club we all love.

I am greatly saddened today, not cos’ of the result but because of the lack of self-belief, self-respect and fight.
I hope that this is not the signs of other things. AP badly lost the dressing room at West Ham. Its impossible to know if that is the case now…..I can only go by our performances against Man U and Arsenal to suggest that there is fight. But Everton produced a negative showing at home IMO and our performance today lacked guille. Lets hope this is the last blip of many blips cos’ I’m running out of patience for AP. I refuse to blame the players who achieved on the pitch last season….I just believe that AP has deployed them badly this time round. Sadly I’m not sure if AP can see the wood for the trees…..I really hope he can because I think he can do better….but there’s only so many bad results you can tolerate!

I don’t know if you’ll read this tomorrow, and I don’t really care, I believe someone already pointed out that all you have left to say is pure bile, and I couldn’t agree more.

“But anyway who will ask others not to input their opinions because it isn’t the same as theirs is a complete and utter dick and should be told they’re a cock.”

Surely all your complaining regarding my comment is asking me to not input my opinion is it not? So my good man – you are a complete and utter dick, and I’m telling you that you’re a cock :D .

Now that’s not me insulting you, and lowering myself to your apparent self-loathing level (ok that was a little dig), that is simply me quoting your oh so interesting continual attempt at an attack on me and showing you that you basically just insulted yourself. Ouch…

Oh and as for me being “very young” or “seriously daft” I assure you I am neither. Also…we live in a footballing democracy? We do? Last I checked whatever the owner says goes, what happened last time we protested about Ashley…he half heartedly tried to sell the club, and oh wait…he’s still the owner. Yup…our negativity really helped us there huh? All it did was place more negativity on the club as a whole, resulting in more poor performances. Anyway…I’m bored of this whole thing now, obviously as you continue to run out of things to say it’s just going to turn into more insults directed from you to me, and to be honest…it’s a little dull, if you have to resort to insults instead of simply discussing then it’s a little sad.

  • 286 Krul to be Kind // Jan 6, 2013 at 12:30 AM

Parsees frustration is becoming clearer to see every week, he is more outspoken as the defeats roll in regarding signings, I totally believe his hands are absolutely tied, he might buckle, he might just walk – then we could be in the stink.

I think Poyet would be very good for us but it will never happen,
Firstly he has an attractive style with Brighton, on the deck quick football, it’s how he played it (for my money he was a cracking player), gives his team a structure, style and an identity… He’s a young forward thinking coach with an attacking and winning mentality

  • 287 Spreadthetoon // Jan 6, 2013 at 12:37 AM

    TDS
I think perhaps 7pts from 9pts will not be so bad….what I’m worrying about is if we get just 3pts from those 3 games! I really do think the next 3 games are the making or breaking of our season. Remember any signings could take time to bed in so we need to provide a +ve changing room, with some momentum and the next 3 games are probably our best opportunity.
As for Jonas he may well make a return. Personally I see him as a DM but AP will play him on the flank…..even if he has lost his pace he does cover for Santon unlike Marveaux who for me is not a winger. Hence the addition of Remy or ANO would be perfect to resolve the balance. Our whole season we have looked very badly balanced….whether that’s going forwards or backwards.
I also think a lot of people do not understand / underestimate the impact debuchy is gonna have. Our shape in defense will be a lot better and I would realistically predict 2 clean sheet in the next three. Why? Cos with Simmo and Willo – we lose our shape and then Collo is having to Cover both sides of our defense and Santon halfway up the pitch! Things have gotta get better cos’ they cannot get worse!

  • 288 Sazzer // Jan 6, 2013 at 12:43 AM

Okay, let’s move on now. No negativity until Norwich. First game with Debuchy. Few first teamers will be back. And if rumours are true we might have one more player by then.

  • 289 Novocastrian66 // Jan 6, 2013 at 12:43 AM

Pardew has been hamstrung with injuries, pardon the pun. Our best players have been absent for most of the season to date. There was little effort and there was no leadership on the pitch today.
I think the young’ns can do a job with experienced heads around them, as long as they are the minority of the first 11 not the majority.
We’ve a weaker squad than last season and it shows.
Pardew has over estimated the ability of the young players, whether that is as a result of his judgement or his coaches I don’t know. He certainly gave the impression he was happy with his squad at the start of the season.
I did not, do not agree with his assessment. I also don’t believe he believed it. He certainly doesn’t now.

  • 290 numnut // Jan 6, 2013 at 12:55 AM

i agree with the people that say its the broad
i think the way to sort it out is if the fans DO something about it
i think the next home game there should be a protest calling for the broad to get in the players AP wants , i remember going to the last protests and not long after things got sorted quote “if you want something done do it yourself “

  • 291 Novocastrian66 // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:08 AM

Numnut- sack the board shit doesn’t work. Only unity works. With a tag like that you must be from Pennywell.

  • 292 jayphoto // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:09 AM

got a feeling we wont sign remy, its too well known! remember last year with cisse, no1 had a clue till he arrived!
Not saying its linked, but talk of the town in Paris is that Gamiero has agreed terms with a Premier League club but said club is a couple of mil off PSG;s valuation…… if thats not got delboy written all over it i dont know what has!

  • 293 jayphoto // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:13 AM

not gonna call for Pardews head because no manager would have done any better with the players we have out!
I know in preseason Vuckic was heavily being trained into the 4 2 3 1 formation behind the striker, reckon his injury was a big spanner in the works of a surprise asset for us! Anyone whos seen the reserves will testify how much of a class above our other young players Vuckic was, just needed to adapt to the pace of the PL!

  • 294 2_goal_tino // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:21 AM

Here’s a question for you lot:

If you could, would you take Kevin Nolan back?

Personally, I would in a heartbeat. I thought the decision to let him go was the right one at the time because I thought as a club we were going in the right direction. But the team spirit he was strongly responsible for seems to have all but gone. He may not be as technically good as a lot of our players but he’s a fighter, who puts everything on the line for the team. Something we’re missing greatly.

That’s why i’m looking forward to Saylor’s return, he makes mistakes and wasn’t particularly amazing before his injury but he’s the only one in the current team who I think has any pride in the shirt. His attitude and effort should be enough to get the rest of the team to buck their ideas up.

  • 295 bettyswallocks // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:25 AM

The situation we are now in is not down to a recent run of bad luck with injuries as Mr Parpoo keeps trying to claim.

Our current group of players even with the injuries we have had would have been moulded into a far more efficient, cohesive unit with a better manager.

To constantly bleat about never having all the best players at is disposal is a downright lie and when he had them h managed to play them out of position with no fluent system.

He is not up to the job.

Football is a results and entertainment based industry and he is producing neither.!!!

  • 296 headtheball // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:26 AM

If goalsbringsmiles it is important we start scoring some soon or I might cry. I’m too old for relegation again.
Kevin knew his limitations but he had Passion. I haven’t heard much from Parsnip.

  • 297 Les Grossman // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:27 AM

  • 299 Les Grossman // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:38 AM

Manager garbage! Chairman garbage! Ameobis –and obertan garbage!
Learn folks, you pays ya money you get conned!

  • 300 OhSholaAmeobi // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:40 AM

    Team to face Norwich:
Krul, Santon, Coloccini, S.Taylor, Debuchy, Anita, Perch, Cabaye, STRIKER/WINGER, Marveaux, Cisse.
Bench: Elliott, CENTRE BACK, Dummett, Bigirimana, Gutierrez, Obertan, Ranger.

In some sort of dreamland where we get those two mentioned signings through the door in less than a week.

  • 301 2_goal_tino // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:41 AM

My mum, a lady who isn’t shy to have a strong opinion about things, phoned me up after today’s game and said: “That’s it! I’ve had enough of him. Every other club would’ve sacked their manager with this run. Just seen his interview, he never says anything other than we tried and have injuries. Chris didn’t used to say much either, but at least you could like him. Whereas he’s [Pardew] just arrogant!” She then hung up only to ring back half a minute later and say: “And another thing, I always said Demba didn’t look like he cared!” And then hung up again.

  • 302 thespecialone-ameobi // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:47 AM

I think we are missing out on leaders and today showed that Williamson is not a leader and should not off been captain. As much as joey Barton was a twat but he was a leader and so was Nolan when we was loosing they would step up and rise to the occasion we need players like that. Bring back joey Barton lol

  • 303 nick_9 // Jan 6, 2013 at 1:47 AM

Looking at our fixtures i think a lot are winnable if we find our form or get an extra 2 players in and a few back from injury.

    Norwich (A)
    Reading (R)
    Villa (A)
    Chelsea (H)
    Tottenham (A)
    Southampton (H)
    Swansea (A)
    Stoke (H)
    Wigan (A)
    Man City (A)
    Fulham (H)
    Mackems (H)
    West Brom (A)
    Liverpool (H)
    West Ham (A)
    QPR (A)
    Arsenal (H)

I am not expecting us too but on our day i don’t see why we can win most of them. Tottenham and Man City away are games where you would take a point beforehand. The other away games are mainly against struggling teams or teams between 10th-7th and i think they’re beatable. Hardest home games for us will be Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal but i think if we where on form we could beat them all as well. The support would need to be very vocal which it normally is for big games, i would like to think everyone would be extra up for the chelsea game to show Ba what he is missing. 20 points is within our reach against those teams, we could do with 6 or 7 from the next three games but our away form is that bad i think we will get 4

  • 304 Novocastrian66 // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:01 AM

Thespecialone-Ameobi. I especially liked it when Nolan rose to the occasion and knocked in 3 against your lot.
Been out begging and managed to scrounge some more money to put in the meter by any chance?

  • 305 Toonacious T // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:02 AM

He had me up until the last line, ‘We should have brought in one or two more’.No Mr.Pardew we should have brought in four senior players because we let Lovenkrands, Best, Guthrie and Smith on a big wage go and signed Anita and Bigi. Ba is now gone so we need three still on top of Debuchey. Gosling is not good enough, nor is Shola (why the extended contract for him but not Nolan?), nor Sammi, nor Abeid, nor Tavs, nor Fergie, nor Oba, nor Willo, and shock, horror, it turns out Tiote isn’t all that after all. Our squad is like an album with a couple of really good songs and a few that promise much but deliver little and then a load of fillers, making up the numbers but really just poor imitations of what you are looking for.

  • 306 Sazzer // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:04 AM

Go mum! :) We should trade Obertan, and get two winger strikers. Before window closes.

  • 307 Toonacious T // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:18 AM

Yeah, coz clubs will enter into a massive bidding war to get mega-minds services. Pardew’s request, 3.5m pounds. We could do a swap deal for Forest Gump and the chuckle brothers maybe!

  • 308 beefman13 // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:19 AM

Just like to mention apart from anita every one of the seniors was pants v brighton and was santon better than tav? Tav may hav been out of position a bit at times but lua lua done santon virtually every time he had the ball, and santon was put of position, young dummett dud not do anything wrong either and put a few quality balls in and defended ok not like abbott and costello our centre halfs, sammy is naff, bigi did try all afternoon plenty of effort from the lad, obertan needs a smack heavy at times, and shola, well 12 years down the line and i think we have seen it all havnt we, i could not put up with his brother for another 10 years thats for sure, i would say the youngins were better than the seniors overall even taking in to account sammy!!!!

  • 309 Sazzer // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:21 AM

I get see progress in getting rid off 4 and bring in two. Keeping a tight ship of multifunctional players. However, dysfunctional players and limited players must be changed for mf. gems. So agree ToonT.

  • 310 nick_9 // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:21 AM

Just did the predictor on BBC, it was painful to see the mackems above us but we stayed up:

    1. Man united 94 pts
    2. Man City 89 pts
    3. Chelsea 81 pts
    4. Arsenal 69 pts
    5. Liverpool 68 pts
    6. Tottenham 67 pts
    7. Everton 61 pts
    8. West Brom 55 pts
    9. Swansea 49 pts
    10. Stoke 48 pts
    11. West Ham 46 pts
    12. Fulham 43 pts
    13. Sunderland 41 pts
    14. Newcastle 39 pts
    15. Norwich 39 pts
    16. Southampton 37 pts
    17. Villa 32 pts
    18. Reading 27 pts
    19. Wigan 27 pts
    20. Qpr 25 pts

When i put in more optimistic results we finished 12th on 46 points. Guess a lot depends on our away form. 16 away games this season in all comes and 0 wins.

  • 311 Mr Random // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:24 AM

I know pardew is a terrible manager at the moment. But I think some comments are going a bit too far when mentioning the likes of Steve kean as a replacement!!!???

  • 312 thespecialone-ameobi // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:26 AM

Lol novo why would you even accuse me off being a mackem lol. Your obviously an idiot.

  • 313 Sazzer // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:30 AM

I did’t mean we would get 2 for Obertan. But maybe half of one of the two maybe less . He w ould be decent player in L1.

  • 314 Sazzer // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:35 AM

    Random
Haha some enjoy manager bashing little too much.

  • 315 Sazzer // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:39 AM

And reason I took Obertan is because he decent enough to be good player in lower league.

  • 316 numnut // Jan 6, 2013 at 2:50 AM

Geordie Ant- I completely agree with you. Back the team, its what we have and no amount if insults to AP and MA will have them rushing to spend to appease the insult throwers.
Back the team, booing us for panto’s. what we have we have no control over. I just pray we turn this around and fast
