Mathieu Debuchy’s signing for Newcastle was really good news this past week, and he joined his best pal Yohan Cabaye at the Tyneside club, and Yohan was the one who suggested to Alan Pardew that Newcastle should take a look at his friend at Lille.
Cabaye and Debuchy – training with France squad during Euros
That looks like French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris on the right
Well the two of them are now together at Newcastle, and we hope they both stay at the club for a long time, although we are a little worried that if Newcastle don’t improve our league position significantly by the end of the season, some club like Arsenal could come after Yohan Cabaye in the summer – but we’ll not bother thinking about that too much right now.
We just have to hope Yohan shows more loyalty than a certain striker, who we just sold to Chelsea.
Yohan Cabaye did his very best to get Mathieu to join Newcastle, and in the summer he said his pal was just dying to join Newcastle, and certainly Debuchy said all the right things yesterday in his interviews, and he should become a firm fan favorite very quickly at Newcastle.
Mathieu talked about Cabaye yesterday:
“My relationship with Yohan, it’s true, goes back a long, long time to when we first played together as kids.” ”He has been a big help and I will be living with him here until I get myself sorted out.” “It’s a real plus that he is here and hopefully, he will help me settle quicker. Yohan and I have spoken a lot about Newcastle. It has been a regular topic of conversation, particularly during the Euros.”
“We were together for three weeks and he talked about the club all the time. He just told me that Newcastle was the best, that not only was it one of the best teams in the division but away from the playing side, there was a fantastic infrastructure and great support.” “That was a big influence and a big attraction.”
“As far as the city is concerned, he has told me a lot about that too, and I am looking forward to getting to know it. But it is the football I am here for, not other things.”
Our question to Yohan would be – do you have any other friends like Mathieu who could do a job for Newcastle?
Debuchy is a great signing for the club, but we need at least a striker and a center-back at the club, by the end of the month.

In my opinion we have one off the best right backs in the league now. If we jjst get a centre back we can have a solid back four.

Nice to have a player who actually genuinely wants to be here.

i got it @5/2 before skybet suspended betting on it with my other two in a treble
6 davetoon // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:27 AM
Brighton haven’t won a game @ home since November so if we lose today (which I believe we wont), it’s disgraceful
7 toon smart // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:28 AM
Personally, i don’t think we will be able to get Sakho. He plays for a club that could win the title this year, it is also the club where he has played for most of his football career and he was club captain.
I think he will have to be mightly miffed with PSG to leave them.
Remy, on the other hand is a possibility.
8 thespecialone-ameobi // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:28 AM
That’s not a bad bet. Shame they suspended betting on it.
9 GeordieToon89 // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:29 AM
Brighton will be well up for this game again, it will be a hard game
10 psutty80 // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:30 AM
Proud, would be fantastic if Rémy, Sakho and sissoko sign. It worrys me that spurs might get in before us with sissoko though as heard that they are after him.
11 thespecialone-ameobi // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:30 AM
I think today ameobi will be up for this game. He’s gonna be on fireeeee. He will be keen to impress and show he can carry the burden off no demba ba

Odds over in Australia have $2.50 for Newcastle to win. Might have to put $20 on us

15 Jayden // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:33 AM
Will be interesting to see Abeid in the CAM role today. Not sure about the front 3 tho. Depends on what wings they play on…
16 MUTINYbyLEMONS // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:34 AM
Oh so Ameobi does start 2 games in a week. Hopefully he will be fit enough for it
17 toonLYF // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:35 AM
Very excited to see this team play.
We should find alot about Abeid out, and Anita should flourish.
Bless Debuchy too man, seems like a top top man, and just when i thought i couldn’t love Cabaye anymore….
…i adore this team we’re putting together.
18 thespecialone-ameobi // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:35 AM
Very good odds you have got there proud.
19 AusMagpie // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:38 AM
Am I the only one who’s confident that we’ll finish top 10?
20 I-Love-Ameobi // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:38 AM
Ameobi to score a hatrick
21 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:39 AM
You talk about a “Certain striker” leaving for Chelsea?
Wel i don,t really think Loyalty had anything to do with what has happened here?
If the Club had handled themselves with respect to contracts when we took this “certain striker”! from West Ham in the first place, would not of had all the crap stories coming out about his agents and representatives for the last six or seven weeks!
Lets face it, BA did nowt wrong!
22 I-Love-Ameobi // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:40 AM
No Aus Magpie
I too am confident we will finish top 10 as long as we can keep Ameobi fit and playing as he will surely propell us up the table with his magnificent goals
23 tequilamag // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:41 AM
Kets will be wetting his pants at the the thought of Abeid playing
24 MUTINYbyLEMONS // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:41 AM
Going to be a cracking game today me thinks. Excited to watch this team play and see what Abeid is made of. Time for Sammy to dilever.
25 DaveD1000 // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:42 AM
Aus mag Don’t worry -you are not alone
26 tequilamag // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:43 AM
Newexpat, totally agree the club would have only have had to pay half wages if his knee had went. Loyalty cuts both ways.
27 breno95 // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:43 AM
Reading the information from proud that it’s looking like Remy, Sakho AND Sissoko will be joining this window plus Debuchy already here then I will be very happy with that business.
Here’s hoping they are done deals by the end of the month hopefully though sooner.
28 Dannyo // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:45 AM
Shola will be awful to handle for Brightons CBs, i’m sure of that.
29 I-Love-Ameobi // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:48 AM
Dannyo
Ofcourse, he will make a right nuisance of himself and give their CBs a tough time and hopefully by scoring an amzing hatrick that he is capable of, he would redeemed last years match. The revenge will be compete. The revenge will be his.
30 Marty-Toon // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:49 AM
I think it’s ridiculous that first Newcastle sign BA with a get out clause of 7 million
Why didn’t they just put it at 12 or something especially when he’s to get 2million of it and only leaving us with 5?
Secondly,we’ve all been expecting him to go this window and that’s happened. Why have we not been on the ball and got someone in within the first couple of days, when they must’ve had a hunch he’d be gone.
Surely Carr has been doing something throughout the season and found someone worth buying for the LW/RW/Striker role?
A CB too.
Why are we not on the ball so to speak?
Guess DL never learned the 6 p’s.
Was taught it as a sales manager
Perfect Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance
Maybe AP ,MA and DL should have this on their wall or forehead
31 roe997 // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:49 AM
Is it right that remy is in england? My friend just text me saying he is down south. reckons heon way to brighton, hope so and not to the spuds.
32 thespecialone-ameobi // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:52 AM
I love ameobi
I agree with You fully as long as ameobi is fit we will finish top 10. Hopefully top 8. And yes today ameobi will deliver revenge will be his. Ameobiiiii
33 Marty-Toon // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:52 AM
Aus mag,
I think we’ll be nearer 12 th and that’ll be a relief with this rubbish season
34 proudtobageordie // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:52 AM
mutiny
we have been saying that about sammy all season. think he has massive potential but his biggest problem i’ve seen this season is his decisions on when to release or detain the ball. he never passes the ball when he should. allways one man to many. very greedy with the ball. anyone agree
35 roe997 // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:53 AM
Or wax face floppy chops arry.
36 MUTINYbyLEMONS // Jan 5, 2013 at 11:55 AM
Proud
Yeah def, he needs to learn and improve his decision making. He has potential, hopefully he will come good with experience.
37 Benji84 // Jan 5, 2013 at 12:00 PM
i hear you about sammy. It feels to me he is getting a lot of bad traits from his brother. He seems to be a bit lazy and wants to do the wonder goal or wonder pass rather than playing percentage football
38 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Jan 5, 2013 at 12:29 PM
@30:
Now Marty, that was my whole point! The Club made a “balls up” when they signed BA in the first place!
This, of course was all based on Stoke,s alleged medical which apparantly pointed to a dodgy knee? Well the rest is history because he then started banging goals in for Fun for us until Cisse was signed and Papiss was the new kid in Town!
With regards to new signings, we will just need to be patient!
Watch this space because none of know what the club is doing or what activities are going down in France at the moment. It maybe, that we are alreasy busy in negotiations for certain players, who knows? I certainly don,t?
Would just like to say here, PSV are in the race to sign Adam Maler from AZ Alkmaar, reported this morning in my local rag here in Holland, he was also once upon a time, one of our targets? If PSV Eindhoven get him though, his price will rocket, before we have even had a chance?
Missed Opportunities Lads!
