After Demba Ba left Newcastle for better money some four days ago and midway through the season, it’s good to hear the news that Loic Remy, Newcastle’s number one target to replace Ba, is willing to come to Newcastle, even though he has been offered bigger wages by QPR.
Loic Remy – keen to join Newcastle?
But the news is that Loic has rejected the advances of QPR manager Harry Redknapp, and the Daily Mirror is reporting today that the Frenchman has set his heart on joining the famous Newcastle United club.
It seems that QPR offered Shaun Wright Philips in a cash plus player deal, but it is not known what the Newcastle offer is to Marseilles, for their top striker.
We have to hope this news is true, and if it is true it would mean that Newcastle have managed to bring in two of their top targets in January in Mathieu Debuchy and Remy, but there are still other players that we could see arrive on Tyneside this month.
This is continuing good news on the transfer front for Newcastle, and there was even news in the French press yesterday that Loic Remy was already on Tyneside discussing terms, although we don’t know if those reports were true.
But we do know that other Premier League and Bundesliga clubs are still interested in the striker, and that Newcastle officials flew to the south of France over the weekend to steal a mach on the competition and negotiate a deal, which is estimated at £10M, and it seems from the news of the last 24 hours that Remy is now set on joining Newcastle.
That seems an excellent choice to us. 😀

Comment #5repost:
Mistakes/problems in order of importance:
1) MA/DL should have consolidated our position in the summer by getting a CB, LB and CF in addition to Anita.
2) This seasons injuries and suspensions have been unprecedented – but most importantly to our best players, namely collo, cabaye, tiote, and HBA. For those saying Tiote is out of form, yes it’s true, but with a settles midfield it could have been different.
3) Europa – We can’t handle this competition and the travelling with our paperthin squad – even when everyone is fit. Hugely disruptive.
4) Pardews tactics – I am not blind to pardews failing but I’m not on the bandwagon with most on here. I think he is actually a decent hard working manager at our level 5th position and got us Europa. But I never understood the Ba played through the middle 90% (which backfired as he scored loads and left) when our 4231 worked so well last season with him on the left. Cisse is not a winger on this I agree completely. But he’s made some decent subs too this season. The juries still out for me, I think he needs more time – too easy a scapegoat.
5) Luck – from the draw with Sunderland things just never seem to fall for us. Tiote red carded against Sunderland, then a few games later Collo against liverpool. We’ve hit the bat and post numerous times,it just isn’t falling for us.
The end.

I said dummett maybe but its hard to judge on one half of football but you only have to look at the rave reviews from st mirrens
Fergie has a few assitts but how many in the prem? One? The rest against reserve defences and europa teams we should bd beating easier than we are
Plus comparing him at argueably his best form against jonas at his worst form in his career doesn’t mean he’s a top player it just highlights the fact that if were relying on players of his calibre we desperatly need investment
Its got nothing to do with liking them its the fact that these boys have no right playing prem level yet not one of them should be in the team they should all be on loan and if we continue to use them like this they will never make it
The tactics arguement aside the brighton game was a perfect chance fir some of those lads to stake a claim but the truth is it was one of the most gutless pathetic excuse of a performance ive ever witnessed those lads should of been busting a bollo(k instead they were walking around like a bunch of spoilt arrogant little muppets and personally dont think they deserve to pull on the shirt again this season

Beefman – Would have been if it had have been built upon but unfortunately it wasn’t and all the fellas I know who support Liverpool, ManU, etc., told me last year it would be a one- off have been proved right and when I witnessed our dealings in the transfer market versus our competitors then I suspected that they were correct and was left deflated by the lack of ambition shown by MA tbh.

Comment #12Maybe Pardew thought that if Ba was banging in the goals then MA would make him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Was strangely not that bothered or surprised when he left and although you can’t argue with his goal scoring record he did seem to be playing for himself and, given Pardew approach to appeasing him, he did also seem to upset the balance of the team. I am no expert on Remy but I understand he has suffered alot of injuries of recent, is it wise us taking him given our track record with injured and expensive forwards or is this just a recent thing? Has he a good injury record going back through the years?

Comment #13Given the points I’ve raised I find the abject targeting of pardew outrageous. You may not agree with all his tactics but he’s our manager and he should be supported along with the players.
He also brought us 5th position and European football – oh wait no that was the players and luck.

Comment #15Well I’m sure that display did nothing to help him on the mend …. So do you think we will bloody invest in a CB or gamble on S Taylor I hope it’s not a gamble ! I would argue a CB is more important than a striker I know we are fcuked if Cisse gets a knock but we will not win too many with the amount of goals we concede

Comment #16Spuggy – I read that he hasn’t been a starter for quite a while and we definitely need someone to hit the ground running. Having said that, all the lads on here who claim to be up on their French football seem to think he has bags of talent. I was very surprised last January when MA splashed £9m on Cisse, as it didn’t seem to be in keeping with his thrifty ways, so maybe he will roll the dice on this one as well. As for your feelings about Pardew, I do beleive he has been shafted on the incoming transfers front and for sure we have had no luck this season, especially compared to last, be that with injuries or the rub of the green in games, ref decisions, etc., but some of his selections, formations, sunstitutions and, most worryingly of all, seeming inability to motivate the team, save for the OT game, coupled with his interviews whereby he seems to play the role of apologist for MA (maybe we should have got one more player in the summer) all add up to result in me losing my patience with this manager and believe me I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but have to agree, even considering all the factors conspiring against him, he should be getting more out of our admittedly mediocre squad.

Comment #17BT – I worry that MA is going to blow the £8m or whatever on a forward and gamble on Saylor and hope he gets Douglas on a free in the summer. Forwards sell more shirts than centre-backs, have you seen many fans with colo’s name on their shirts? LOL

Comment #18I’m not too botheree about Remy per se, as long as we get someone to give Cisse a hand keeping our goals scored greater than our goals conceded. At the minute it seems that Remy is the be all and end all. Danny Graham and a top notch continetal (cheaper than EPL) defender would serve us just as well. I hope the two man board are not putting all their, or our, eggs in Taylor coming back from injury and a striker/winger who is out of form.

sacking pardew now in middle of window would be a big mistake tho and after last season (which was our best season in the league since sir bobby) pardew deserve’s to see this season out and i think he’ll turn it round with players returning and new recruits (come on ashley you tight arsed fcker) and people saying last season we ground out results and bla bla bla
for me it was the most exciting season in a long time thats wats footballs about edge of your seat stuff this perfect football that some of you think should happen (some of you over night) ain’t gonna happen look at man city they’ve spent a billion an i think there shite to watch!

Slatymag- If I try and put myself into the mind of MA then I would probably think that way. What are the chances of Saylor lasting the rest of the season without an injury? I probably throw him out on the pitch in a wheelchair just to spare myself another Willo calamity!

Judging by your complete incompetence to understand anyones fcuking point im going to assume you’ve had a few sherberts tonight
READ THE FCUKING POST PROPERLY BEFORE SLINGING INSULTS
You have not a clue
When did i say i like willo and and perch or even obertan?
And yeah getting assitts in the league cup against a 17 yr old and an 18 yr old CB pairing is easier than the prem
You say its fickle i say im just not dumb enough to blindly rate our youngsters higher than they are you could find an 17/18 year old in any championship team that are equal or better than our youth players
And once again im not basing dummetts ability on 45 mind of football ya ignorant tool read the post, his performance plus his very successful loan spell where he won several MOM awards
You over rate fergie to the point where you have to question wheter its just a footballer you like him as!
What is you say? Eh bonny lad!

Comment #34Manxpie – LOL. Might get one of those for my bald head next time I’m over. Aye, no doubt that you can get away with winning ugly, unless you are at Real Madrid, but losing ugly is another ball game altogether. Anyway, really hope we don’t go yet another transfer window without buying a CB because personally i WOULD HAVE MADE THAT A PRIORITYfor staying up. If we get both then I will eat humble pie and join the OV crowd as I suppose it is better late than never! HWTL.

Comment #35Jesus, nevermind Taylor not staying fit, what happens if he is out at the same time as Colo. You know he’s got to get injured/banned sooner or later. What then, Remy and the hot and cold (but brilliant) Ben Arfa to score 5 or 6 each match. A cb is maybe a more pressing priority than replacing Ba. If I were a billionaire owner of a football club I’e consider dipping into next years Sky money and getting both.

Comment #39I think Pardew has been a decent manager for us, people on here claiming last year was a fluke are deluded, give him a break. We will be ok this year. The reason we are failing miserably is down to some of our top players hugely under-performing eg. Colo, Tiote, Cabaye (before he was injured) and to some extend Cisse although hopefully now he’s back in the middle he will start banging the goals in. I reckon we will finish 10-12th which wouldn’t be all bad.

Comment #40@leazes I don’t think he’ll be a flop he just needs time on the pitch which he’s not getting at OM when he’s on form like last season he was unstoppable tbh.
