Loic Remy Turns Down Lucrative QPR Offer

There is news this morning in the French Daily L’Equipe, that Loic Remy has rejected a move to QPR, and seemed not to be swayed by the massive wages  QPR offered him, and had to offer – to try to persuade the French International striker to join the small London club.

Loic Remy – turns down QPR’s lucrative offer

A Newcastle delegation were in France over the weekend, and we know that Remy is a top target of Newcastle’s to replace the departed Demba Ba, who got on his bike and moved to European Champions Chelsea last Friday.

Other clubs are interested in the Frenchman, but this has to look like good news for Newcastle, and we just hope we can tie up the signing of the Marseilles striker soon – we need him.

And if Newcastle can get Remy to Tyneside, we would have two very good acquisitions for Newcastle in Mathieu Debuchy and Remy, for close the £14M – and would show the Newcastle Board are serious in their attempts to strengthen our squad, so we have a decent chance to retain our Premier League status.

And then we need a center-back and hopefully we’ll make an attempt to also get Moussa Sissoko through the door this month.

A possible advantage to Newcastle is that Yohan Cabaye is a friend of the striker, and we’re sure he will have talked about Newcastle to him – a lot – as we learned from Mathieu Debuchy that he never stopped talking about what a great club Newcastle were during the European Championships last summer. 😀

We’ll just hope for the best, that Newcastle can get this lad in – and we’ve been interested in the player since early 2008, according to our archives.

It’s more likely that he will go to NUFC, just because there are so many French players here it’s like a French club playing in EPL.

Be cautious. This could be another Luk De Jong. May want German club with Champs League aspirations.

I dont see this happening at all. As the other poster mentioned its almost exactly the same hype we gave luuk de jong and other targets.

Dont get me wrong i would absolutely greet this transfer with a smile and open arms, just being a bit cautious.

Ed, I think you’ll find that Marseille were playing EAG / Guincamp yesterday in the cup and not St Etienne. Guincamp is in Brittany and nowhere near St Etienne. Also Remy did start the game along with Barton and the score was in fact 2-1 to OM. I posted the team sheet yesterday afternoon.

Previous Ashley transfer windows have taught me not to expect anything adequate (just cheap). Kuqi, Harewood, Xisco, Ba (to be fair this one worked – more luck than judgement in my opinion)…. Etc etc

Does anyone really know much about Remy? I’ve only seem him play a few times and the youtube clips but I can’t say I am really impressed….

I would much prefer Aubameyang or Lens though I can’t see Lens leaving PSV until the summer..

Sakho would be an amazing signing and for me a CB should be higher up our list than a striker, I can’t see him coming though! Diego Godín is also having one hell of a season and would probably be cheaper slightly cheaper than Sakho…

sticklebricks -re Remy. If he regains his form prior to an injury in May last year he will be excellent. Goal ratio was nearly 1 in 2 games. Super fast -does not get barged off the ball -bursts through defences. Like always these days we are associated with a gamble -will he get his form back. He was supposed to be valued at £20 million before the injury -due to his lack of form he is cheaper. We are playing the risks again but if he comes to SJP time will tell if the risk/cheap purchase has paid off.
